i have recently purchased the new macbook pro 2.5 ghz i7 with 8gb mem and an external 27" tunderbolt display with osx lion. does anyone know how to open final cut pro 7 and with a simple stroke of genious get it onto the large display rather than having to drag each window over and resize it manually until they are all there?

I don't use Final Cut, so I'm unable to help you on that unless it's compatible with the Lion full-screen mode. If you look in the top right do you see the diagonal arrows like you do in Safari for example? If so click them and the application will fill the screen. wow, when i did that, a media window remains open, the viewer window is open, the canvas is gone and i can't seem to find it, the timeline is gone, and well, i'm totally lost. any ideas how to get back to normal? im wondering if this thunderbolt display was a good idea or a new nighmare :-(
EDIT: well after some playing around i think i figured out how to get it back altough this is really not intuitive. i resized the meida bin from full page on the TD to smaller, then clicked the sequence, then closed the viewer, then clicked a former TB16x9 template i saved and it came back. this is gonna be some getting used to i can see. not without glitches BUT i made it. giving you the credit/points Shane Ross and thanks for the help.

Sync them from iTunes, if you were syncing with iTunes. If you weren't, download them again in the purchased tab of the App Store. You will not have to pay for them again if you use the same Apple ID.

you should have been backing up as well and you could restore from a backup in order to get all of your app data and device settings back.

I have authorized my new laptop for my itunes account.
I have ticked all the boxes for Music, TV Shows, Books, Apps etc
I have an iCloud account that appears to be working.
So where are my apps and books that I purchased through itunes languishing?

To get your apps onto your MacBook Pro, the following Knowledge Base article should prove quite helpful:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
Specifically the section "Apps, Books, Music, Movies or TV shows on a computer":
Using iTunes 11 or later
Open iTunes on your computer. (You can download the latest version of iTunes here.)
Make sure that you have "Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases" enabled in your iTunes preferences by going to iTunes > Preferences under the Store tab. Then, click OK.
If you're not already signed in, choose Store > Sign In, and enter your Apple ID and password.
After you've signed in, click the Library button located in the upper-right of the iTunes Store.
Navigate to your iTunes library for the respective content type you wish to download using the content selector in the upper-left. Choose Music to download songs, Movies to download movies, and so on.
Locate the item or title you wish to download.
Click the download icon to download that item.
Note: The download icon for previously purchased movies is located to the right of the movie title. To download previously purchased apps and books, you'll need to navigate to the Purchased page under the Quick Links section in the iTunes Store. For more information, follow the steps outlined below for iTunes 10.7 or earlier.

New laptop, old iPod Touch, how do I get apps onto iTunes?

Hi. I have recently bought a new laptop, and want to sync my apps in iTunes to my 9 month Touch, but when I select Sync, iTunes tells me; "+All existing applications and their data on the iPod <my ipod> will be replaced with applications from this iTunes library+".
As this is a new iTunes install, won't it completely wipe all my apps? Short of hunting down all my apps in iTunes and re-purchasing them, how do I get to a point where I can sync apps?

Don't sync your iPod until you have your purchases back onto the computer and your restored your library or you will lose the contents from it. iTunes will let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

Need help getting app onto ipod touch

my computer recently died on me so i've got a lend of my friends laptop at the moment. i authorised the computer to my ipod and then purchased a few apps but it wont let me put the apps i downloaded on my friends laptop (using my account of course) onto my ipod touch. please can someone help me get this problem sorted.

What do you mean "it wont let me "?
You went to the apps tab, selected sync apps, selected the apps to sync?
You synced?
What happened?
You can sync ipod touch to only one computer at a time, so if you sync to another computer, it will first erase the content from the ipod.

Can't get palettes onto second monitor

I am using Photoshop CS4 and I just upgraded to Mavericks. When I opened PS I discovered that all the palettes that normally reside on a second monitor are now all on the same monitor with my PS document and I can’t drag them to the second monitor. It seems that PS does not recognize there is a second monitor there. I can drag documents and palettes from other applications onto this monitor so it appears to be only a PS issue. Is anyone else having this problem and is there a solution?

This is probably a silly question, but have you rebooted your Mac? It's silly to ask because most likely the OS upgrade required a reboot, but hey, I don't know the specifics.

Imac g5, screen issue, gets main and second display but only shows second which is 800x600, not the 1600x1400

Hello, i have a power pc g5 running 10.3.5 i have a issue not being able to get the correct display to show. When it start up it comes up with a screen size of 800x600, which i can not change or select the main display, also the computer computer does not shut down or restart unless you hold the power button. Hopefully someone can help me, i am new to apples, i have a few for my kids and i am learning, any help would be appricated. Thank you

How do I get Apps onto my iPhone?

I have looked at all the available apps for the iPhone, mine is a 16gig. i want to buy some of the apps I've seen on the apple site, but I have no idea how to do it. They information I've found indicates that I can buy them and load them through my iTunes. but how. I don't see a selection for apps in my iTunes application on my laptop? Any help out there?

Apple will be opening a new App Store in iTunes very soon. You will be able to buy and load apps though iTunes then. You will need to upgrade your firmware to the new version 2.0 first though. That can be done through iTunes soon also.

Getting Apps from the Apps Store while overseas (3rd world Asian country)

Hello,
We were planning on getting an iPad in the USA. We then plan on taking it to a country in Asia. This country doesn't officially sell iPads yet, but they sell iPhones.
What will it be like to buy or freely get Apps onto the iPad. Do you need a US I.P. address? Do you need a US-based credit card to buy non-free apps?
All information would be great.

Same problem here in Brazil.
It seems to be a problem with logging in App Store in the Mac (Yosemite 10.10.2).
When I tried the very same userid and password I was able to login in to use my iCloud account from the same computer and also from my iPhone.

ok i just updated my software to 2.0 legally but i have one question..i bought applications off of itunes store now how do i get them onto my itouch theres no app icon in the itouch like people said there will be..

This is how I did it this afternoon... I downloaded the 2.0 upgraded...stored it on my HD. Updated iTunes to 7.7. I restared iTunes and then connected my iPod Touch. Once it was visible as a device in iTunes I selected it and then held down the ALT key. While holding the ALT key I selected the CHECK FOR UPDATES button on the right hand side of the screen. I was prompted to locate the 2.0 upgrade file I previously downloaded. I selected it, and it began to go through the install process. It took about 20 minutes, during which time my Touch restarted several times. I was also prompted at one point to choose if I wanted to restore from a previous backup, which I choose. After the restore I shut down iTunes and disconnected my iPod Touch from my MacBook. I then restarted iTunes, connected my Touch and did another sych. The apps I had downloaded installed. Be sure before doing this that you have selected the "sync apps" on the new APPS tab that displays in the right had side of the window once your iPod Touch has been recognized by iTunes. It installed with no problem and I've had no issues thus far.

How do I get FCPX onto my second iMac

Hi to all,
Recently purchased FCPX from the app store, downloaded fine onto my primary iMac, but how do I get it onto my second (backup) iMac? My understanding is that I can have it on more than one computer?
When I go into my iTunes account information it shows as being purchased but it does not show in "purchased Apps" to download again, am I missing something here?

Hi blimpmedia, thanks for the response! Your suggestion was 100% correct but I could not work out why it would not work on my 2nd Mac. After spending about 40 minutes on hold with Apple Support I discovered that the version of OSX that I had on the 2nd computer (6.1.1) was not compatible with the latest App Store page view.
I have now downloaded the OSX update, the App Store page is now providing me the "download" option and is downloading FCPX it as I write this!

You would do this by iTunes and the sync process. You can select what apps you want to sync in iTunes. However, know that not all apps that are used on the iPad can be used on the iPhone. There are apps that are iPad only, as well as those that are iPhone only.
