Getting artist name on each track

i download a cd with my laptop then transfer it to my own library on my desktop to save it does not list the artist with each track i have to type the artist for each track can i change this somehow so it will put the artist name next to each track thank you driving me nuts

With a purchased CD, connected to the Internet, iTunes should find the details ok. However if it happens again, Highlight all the tracks you just imported and right click, choose Get Info, it will ask if you want to update multiple items, say yes and in Info type the artists name and all the tracks will be done at once.

  • IPhone 5 not showing artist name under each track in album view page like it used to

    Hi. My iphone 5 is upto date software wise etc. When I go into music and select an album I get the track listing but no artist name under each track. All my music is correctly coded and it used to show up previously. Is this a change in the software or am I missing something? It's really annoying if you open a compilation as you have a track list but no way of knowing the artist unless you play the track.
    Please help.

    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Another poster on the Apple Support Communities had the same question about music on their iPod, and marked the post as solved:

  • HT1451 when editing info, how do i select multiple items to edit a group? For example, changing the artist name on multiple tracks at once?

    when editing info, how do i select multiple items to edit a group? For example, changing the artist name on multiple tracks at once?

    Same way you select multipl items anywhere else.
    Hold ctrl and click the items you want.
    If they are in consecutive order, click the 1st then Shift click the last.

  • Getting swatch names of each document item

    I'm trying to find a way to loop thru all items in an Illustrator document and get their stroke and fill color.  Sometimes items are spots, sometimes documents are set to RGB or CMYK, etc, so swatches can be a mixture of things.  Is there an easy way to get the swatch name for each item?
    For example, I can check if an item is a spot, and get it's color like so:
    var c = app.activeDocument.pageItems[0];
    if (c.strokeColor.typename === 'SpotColor') {
        var s = c.strokeColor.spot.name;
    But if I try to get the name from an item colored 'Black' (which is set to Process Color, CMYK), then I'll need to do something else like:
    var c = app.activeDocument.pageItems[0];
    if (c.strokeColor.typename === 'CMYKColor') {
        var s = c.strokeColor.name;  // This returns undefined - not sure what I'm doing!!!
    Is there an easier way to achieve this, other than getting the typename of each item, and then trying to figure out it's color name?  I was hoping something like this would work:
    var c = app.activeDocument.pageItems[0].strokeColor.name;
    Thanks!
    Jay

    Thank you Larry.  This is very helpful to know!
    I chatted with a friend, who knows much more about colors, printing, etc. and now I see that I can only get item swatch names when the item is set to a spot (or global I believe).  Process on the other hand will just return specific number values for each color (c, m, y, k).  So I think I have a better understanding now.
    Thanks.

  • My itunes does not get the names of all tracks which i import.

    When i import a cd into itunes, it does not get any track names. Why is this.
    Also, itunes does not connect to the music store. It tells me that i should check my connection etc etc. Are these problems related, and what can i do to fix it?

    Let me guess, did you just install/upgrade iTunes?
    If so, then it's surely your security software (firewall, web accelerator, privacy filters, etc) that is blocking iTunes.
    The iTunes "upgrade" is actually an uninstall, then total new install, of iTunes and QuickTime. Many security packages such as Norton, Zone Alarm, Google Web accelerator, McAfee, PCillin (...the list is long) see this new iTunes install as a malicious threat, and block out the previous settings without telling you.
    Go to your security software vendor's website and see if they have directions for allowing iTunes & QT back in the list of programs allowed to access the internet.

  • Renaming Artist name for groups of songs.

    I listen to a lot of classical music. Here the artist name, composer name, and album name can all be screwed up between different music companies where one uses one company uses one field for the artist name and another for the composer name. The other problem is that the composer's names are always spelled differently for the same composer, where one uses "Mozart", another "W. A. Mozart", etc.
    So the problem is I need to rename an entire album's list of composer names at once when I import a CD to my iPod. Is ther a way to do that other than copy and paste the desired new name in each track?

    Select all the songs you want then right click - get info.
    Anything in the boxes will be copied to every song selected.

  • Problems Renaming Artist Names

    For some reason, when I imported my Counting Crows albums, some of them imported as The Counting Crows. It's odd because it doesn't show "The Counting Crows" in the artist name area, but when I do a search for "The Counting Crows" 70 songs come up, and when I search for "Counting Crows" only 212 of my total 282 songs come up. They are also separated when I have to sync the artist to my iPhone. I have tried everything I know to change them, doing them individually, selecting all and right clicking>get info>typing in the artist name, and i have tried to select all and apply the sorting field to all, but nothing has worked. Any suggestions?

    For some reason, the 'album artist' name was different from the 'artist' name on some tracks. I changed it, but now for some reason I have 60 tracks that still come up as "The Counting Crows". This is from the list menu on iTunes. I have other problems too. Whenever I go to a grid or cover flow view, a lot of my album artwork is on the wrong album (or better stated, some of my tracks are under the wrong album artwork). In list view, the artist and album names are all correct though. I don't understand why it's all messed up since the info should have been applied correctly when I uploaded these albums. My big problem is that the artwork is incorrect not just for this artist, but multiple tracks and artist for my 12000 tracks.

  • Itunes keeps cutting off the last few seconds of each track!

    Help!
    I'm trying to import from a CD, and for some (but not all) of the tracks being imported, when I go to play them from my Library, itunes skips the last few seconds of the song and jumps to the next one. Usually it wouldn't be a problem, because most tracks on CDs have some dead time at the end, but for these you are supposed to go directly from one track to another - without down time in between or skipping any of the track (one song is spread out over several tracks).
    I've tried re-importing the tracks using both the AAC encoder and MP3 encoder, specifying the the track end at a particular time (stop time - this information shows up when I "get info" on the track, under options) and the track length in my library shows up as that exact time from the CD. itunes just doesn't play the full length of the track!
    How do I get itunes to play each track to the very end before jumping to the next one?
    Jen

    and the track length in my library shows up as that exact time from the CD
    iTunes should play the full track. Did you tick the 'Crossfade playback' checkbox in Preferences>Playback? If so, uncheck it.
    If the problem persists you can check if it's an inporting problem or an iTunes setting problem by doing this:
    In iTunes select a 'problemtrack'.
    Choose 'Show Song File' from the File menu (command-R).
    Select the file and control-click on it.
    Choose 'Open With' and select 'Quicktime Player' as the program to open the file with.
    Now play the 'problemtrack' in Quicktime Player to the end and see if it still skips the last seconds.
    If it plays the full track, your imports are OK.
    Hope this helps.

  • Burning with Artist names

    Hi ... When I use Itunes to burn songs onto a disk I see they are listed as track , How can I have this to show the Artist name instead of track ? Thanks

    Hi Terry,
    edit>preferences>advanced>burning>check "include CD text">ok
    After you have set your preferences, when you burn a CD BEFORE ejecting it. Click on it to select it, then in the iTunes main window go to
    Advanced>Submit CD track names>fill any required info>submit
    This sends the CD info to the GraceNote data base that iTunes uses so the next time you insert this disk GraceNote recognises it.

  • Song names imported as "artist - track name" instead of "track name"

    When I add a folder to my library (a folder which contains MP3 files which all contain complete ID3 tags), about 50% of the song names get imported as "artist - track name" instead of just "track name". If I click on any track which was imported like this, and right-click and select "get info", the track name shows up correctly in the dialog box, and it suddenly fixes the display on the listing (without me doing anything).
    I could fix each song by clicking "get info", but I would have to do this for all my songs, which would take far too long. Is there any way to get iTunes to import these track names correctly? Or is there a way to refresh the listing, and have iTunes re-read the ID3 tags on the MP3 files?
      Windows XP Pro

    To get the track names etc., when importing a CD, you have to be connected to the Internet.
    This article explains why.
    To get the info later, select all tracks (with the generic track names) of an album and choose 'Get CD Track Names' from the Advanced menu in the menubar.
    Very often the correct information will show up.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I get the names of tracks I type in Adobe Audition 3 to copy to the Sony CD-RW CRX217E in myD

    How do I get the names of tracks I type in Adobe Audition 3 to copy to the Sony CD-RW CRX217E in my Dell Precision Workstation 670?
    I have recorded 10 tracks of voice with music using Adobe Audition 3 and Sony CD-RW CRX217E with no problem.
    The problem is, however, that the names I type in Audition 3 for each of the tracks and artist do not copy to the CD I have recorded. This means that when I play the tracks on any playback equipment that shows the names of the tracks and artists, etc. all that appears on the screen is the track number, such as Track 1, Track 2, etc.
    I am using a Dell Precision Workstation 670

    Well, there is one possibility, but I can't absolutely confirm this. I had a look at the specification for the drive on the Dell website:
    http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/storage/P89087/en/index.htm
    and nowhere does it say that the drive supports CD-Text, I'm afraid. Even though all drives can in theory write this, a lot have the header hard-coded, and simply can't. Yours may be one of them, but I think you'll have to ask Dell to confirm this.

  • How do I give individual tracks a song name/artist name on a compilation CD?

    I have been uploading compilation CDs to my iTunes library onto my MacBook Pro and while I can give the CD an album name, genre, etc., through 'CD Info' while the CD is uploading, I am unable to give each track a song name and artist. When I tried doing this via 'CD info' every track was given the same song name and artist!  It is a CD of various artists/tracks. Any advice welcome.

    Hello TooSweet1,
    It sounds like you have imported an audio disk to your iTunes library that is a compilation of various artists but the artist and other info are the same for all tracks and you would like to customize the information on a track by track basis. You can do this with the info window.
    Information about each item in your library is stored in the item’s Info window. To open the Info window, select the item and then choose File > Get Info.

  • When i import a music cd it only does each track separately. why doesnt it recognize the title and artist anymore how do I fix this problem

    Im not sure what Im doing.  When I import a cd into my library it has not been recognizing the cd, artist or song name.  I have to go and enter songs for each track. I originally was able to import no problem.  What am I not doing now?

    Take a look here:

  • No track or artist names

    OK, I have been searching these discussions for about an hour and am done.
    I have burned CD's and want to import them into my library with the track and artist names, but it's not happening.
    The check mark is there for getting the info when importing and I do not see the option for "CD Text."
    Thank you for any help with this.

    The Audio CDs generally do not have that information embedded in the CD so iTunes has to look up the information on the internet. But this only works for complete albums or mix CDs if someone already submitted the CD to the database. If you have random burned CDs with random stuff on them then they won't be found in the database.
    The database works by looking up the table of contents "fingerprint" to determine what album it is. So a CD with 11 songs, 47:23 minutes long, with the first track 2:34, the second track 5:15, ... etc. you can see how this makes for a almost unique ID for the album. It can not look up individual tracks. So unles you burn complete CDs as they appear in the database, it can not look up your own burned CDs.
