Getting associated values from F4 Help
Hi all,
i have already searched about it on SCN but not get any thread where i can resolve my problem so here i am posting it, i have created a screen in which i have provided F4 help, in this F4 help i am showing name and associated number of employeees, when ever user picks any values from F4 help i wants to capture the associated number from the screen, for this what i have done till now is.
I have created a F4 help and when user enters the values, i have used a PAI event to capture the corresponding values by using translation like shown below. Here ztable-rm_name is the screen field for which F4 help has been provided, and emp_code is the value i have to capture.

As you can see that i am fetching the emp_code through it_zincen1 which i have already got through the database and it contains the list of all employees
and its associated numbers, the problem which i am getting is that , while fetching the data by passing rm_name it will provide the emp_code of first matching rm_name, so it will give an ambiguity in result , if there will be more than one employee in the database.
So, i am looking for any other approach, that will give consistent result , i have done it through DYNP_VALUES_READ also, but not getting proper result, please if someone has the idea about how to achieve it, please tell me the solution.

Need help getting a value from an XML column

How do I get a value from a portal form for a non database field ? HELP!!
I have a form based off of a table that I added a field to. The form is to allow the user to change abbreviation for a
department field ie. BIO to BIOL. for a biology department. I have a pl/sql procedure for validation using the custom option
on the update button to verify the user and update the data. I have tested to code at the sql prompt and it works.
They only difference between the prompt and the form is the non-database field new_dept_abbr was added to the
form. I don't know how to capture the value of the user input into a variable that can be used in the pl/sql.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have tried this approach
v_new_dept_abbr := p_session.get_value_as_varchar2(
p_block_name => 'default',
p_attribute_name => 'new_dept_abbr'
have tried using p_attribute_name as 'a_new_dept_abbr' but this does work and does not exist in the body of the form.
Have also tried setting the p_block_name to _session - still doesn't work.
Any ideas??

satisfactory answers. I ran across an note - 137172.1 that has this snippet of information in it.
Unfortunately, at this time (portal 3.0.7.6.2) , a non-table item cannot be
referenced in a plsql event handler, only in client side JavaScript code. This
is a known limitation and will be fixed in a future release.
I don't know how to get the value from the client side JavaScript code to a pl/sql variable. Do you?
I've been trying to get them to tell me if the 'known issue' has been addressed in 3.0.9.

Get/Set values from a drop down list
I am trying to modify the http://www.netbeans.org/kb/60/web/web-jpa-part2.html so that instead of entering the data from a text field (in update & add) the values come from a drop down list from a table. I have drop down lists that are populated bothe from the DB and hard coding. When I run, I am able to see the options on the DDs. But none of the CRUD work. I think this is because my set and get for the drop down is wrong. Then again, I also have a few text fields from the original example which also don't seem to work. Here is a piece of my addButton():

Did you forget to reset the value after changing the options?Can someone please point me to a place which shows how I can add a default value from my DD? I tried to follow http://www.netbeans.org/kb/55/dropdowncomp.html, but unable to complete because I get an error for Options api. The auto-fix imported import org.apache.jasper.Options; But the package given in the tutorial is com.sun.webui.jsf.model.Option. My Java version is 1.6.0_07.

The contents of the table named lookup appear on the screenshot.
cell A1 contains the string One-Piece, cell B1 contains the 'associated' value 160.
cell A2 contains the string Two-Piece, cell B2 contains the 'associated' value 130.
cell A3 contains the string Three-Quarter, cell B3 contains the 'associated' value 150.
Now table Main
In column B the cells contain a pop_up menu with four items like the ones described by Jerrold.
In column C of the cells contain the formula :

I enhanced it since yesterdays because I forgot to treat the case when cell is blank in column B.
I apologize but as I'm using my machine in French, the screenshot display the French formulas.

As you are in Stoke-on-Trent maybe your system is set to use the comma as decimal separator.
If it's that, you must replace the comma by semi-colons in the formulas (you may see them in my screenshot).

How to get the values from a html form embedded in a swing container
Hi all,
I am developing an application in which i have to read a html file and display it in a swing container.That task i made it with the help of a tool.But now i want to get the values from that page.ie when the submit button is clicked all the values of that form should be retrived by a servlet/standalone application.I don't know how to proceed further.Any help in this regard will be very greatful

How to get multiple values from the list
I've a list of an item which I queried it from the database. I also created a button that will takes a selected items from the list when it was clicked. I used javabean to get the data from database.

Lets say the item that i selected from the list is 'Xplace' and I clicked on the Select District button,
what I got is this error message:
org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to convert string 'Xplace' to class java.util.Vector for attribute usrTDistrict: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Property Editor not registered with the PropertyEditorManager
So where is going wrong and what the message means?. Any help very much appreciated. ThanksThese are just guesses that might hopefully steer you in directions you haven't looked in yet.
I presume you used triangle brackets (< >) to avoid having the Jive Forum think it was the "italics" tag?
Are you certain this: dbaseInfo.getcurrentDistrictID(nstate,vselectedDistrict);
expects a Vector as its second parameter? And returns a Vector?
I don't believe you've shown how you use the javabean, or its code? Perhaps it should be rewritten to accept an array of strings instead of a Vector? -
NullPointerException - Cannot get the value from variable f_cashGiven
In SubCheckout.java (a POS), what I want is when Payment button (f_cashPayment) is pressed, the action "Cash" is performed, get the value from Cash Given (f_cashGiven), do the subtraction and post the value as Cash Return (f_cashReturn). The code is filled in actionPerformed. But I cannot get the value by using f_cashGiven.getValue() from VNumber class. It returns NULL. This should be quite straight forward, but I do not know what is wrong. Please help!

Swing: when trying to get the values from a JTable inside an event handler
Hi,
I am trying to write a graphical interface to compute the Gauss Elimination procedure for solving linear systems. The class for computing the output of a linear system already works fine on console mode, but I am fighting a little bit to make it work with Swing.
I put two buttons (plus labels) and a JTextField . The buttons have the following role:
One of them gets the value from the JTextField and it will be used to the system dimension. The other should compute the solution. I also added a JTable so that the user can type the values in the screen.
So whenever the user hits the button Dimensiona the program should retrieve the values from the table cells and pass them to a 2D Array. However, the program throws a NullPointerException when I try to
do it. I have put the code for copying this Matrix inside a method and I call it from the inner class event handler.

How do we get millisecond values from timestamp column in v$logmnr_contents.
I tried with following query.

it says ORA-01821: date format not recognized. I want to find the relation of scn with timestamp. In forums i found, scn is derived from timestamp value. I dont know its correct or not.

the reason I need that is when I build seperate select for each value, I need to add the query number at the end of the select query.

You can use GetDatabankValue(HeaderName, Value) to get the value from databank and SetDataBankValue(HeaderName, Value) to set the value to databank.
You can refer to the API Reference to see list of associated functions and techniques we can use with related to Data Bank.
This is the for OFT but if you are using Open Script then you have direct access for getting the databank value but when it comes to setting a value you have to use File operation and write you own methods to do the set operation.
