    aris

    Hello,
    It is true for JSR168 portlets that you can't just arbitrarily set parameters on a URL and get access to them inside your portlet- you must use the appropriate APIs on the PortletURL class to set parameters that you can retrieve. This is the only portable (standards-compliant) way to implement the functionality you want.
    However, for your particular use-case, you can get the URL parameters from the (non-JSR168) HttpServletRequest object. The only reason you are getting a null object for that is because the attribute name is wrong. This should work:
    HttpServletRequest httpRequest = (HttpServletRequest)(request.getAttribute("javax.servlet.request"));
    String eventId = httpRequest.getParameter("eventId");

  • ECC filed value to Portal

    Hi ,
    I have a scenario where my vendor number is generated in ECC and once it is generated I have to get this value in portal and use it further.Can anyone please help me as how my dynpro application in JAVA can pull this value from a particular table in ECC right from scratch as I will be implementing this for the first time.
    Full points for solving the problem
    Thanks
    Vinay

    Hello Vinay,
    You need to create an RFC which will pass that vendor number to the Webdynpro System.
    Then with that RFC you can create an Webdynpro Application.
    Simply create an Model in Webdynpro(import RFC)
    And design a screen connected to that model.
    You can also refer to:
    How many lines of java code did i write for a simple Web Dynpro?

    hi vineela,
    For the textView, in the text value write the code  <%=myBean.getStr()%>
    where myBean will be your bean class and getStr() is the method in the bean class whcih returns value which needs to be displayed on the screen.

  • Get properties value from a bean

    Hello
    I just began with JSF and have a problem. I konw how to save and get properties value into/from a bean from/into a jsf page. But how can I get the values from a other java class? I would like to get the properties from the bean A and use them in the class B and write them at the end back into the bean. What would be the easiest way for this?
    Thank you for the help!
    Best regards, mike

    Depending on the scope of your bean (request/session), have a look to the related method (getSessionMap or getRequestMap ) from ExternalContext class (accesible from FacesContext.getCurrentInstance)

  • How can get the value of a HtmlInputText (created in the bean)

    Hi All,
    I have created a HtmlInputText object in the Backing Bean (the getter and setter are in another Bean used to manage the data, getEditableInputText and setEditableInputText)
    //getter and setter in Bean
    public HtmlInputText getEditableInputText() {
    return this.editableInputText;}
    public void setEditableInputText(HtmlInputText editableInputText) {
    this.editableInputText = editableInputText;
    I set the value in the Backin Bean
    The HtmlInputText is bound in the xml in this way:
    <h:inputText id="test" binding="#{Bean.editableInputText}"></h:inputText>
    When I load the page I can see the TextField with the value that I set previously (in the backin bean).
    The problem is when I try to change the value of the texField:
    I change the value, then I click on a button (its action is to call a method to get the value of the field).
    In debug mode I see that the value is allways the first set instead of the new value inserted.
    I tried with getValue and similar but it does not work.
    I tried also to put HtmlInputText in a panel (using a similar logic) and then to get it using getChildren() method but also this does not work.
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance

    Ok (now I understand)
    I have used bean.getEditedInputText() and it is not null.(I got the HtmlInputTextObject)
    But bean.getEditedInputText().getValue has allways the first value set.
    If I don't set previously the value (in the backin bean) the getValue() is allways null.
    So my problem is that I can set but I cannot get the Value when I change it.

    THANKS.

    I solved this.
    Since I was testing the action code only, I didn't define a navigation entry corresponding to the action string returned for this button:
    <h:commandButton value="Add" style="height:21px; width:51px;font-size:8pt; font-color: black;" action="#{resourceBean.addAction}">
    </h:commandButton>After I added a nav definition, it worked. I don't know why at this point. I suspect a key step in the lifecycle was pre-empted...someone else can probably explain why. If I get a chance to research it after I'm done with my project, I'll update this post.
    Thanks.

  • How to get a value for Select One Choice in the backing bean

    Friends,
    Does any one have any idea, how to get the value of a selected item value from the Select One Choice component in the backing bean iin valueChangeListener method. Right now I am always getting the sequence of the selected item, instead the actual selected value. I tried using 'ValuePassTrhough=true' also.. but didn't help

    <af:selectOneChoice value="#{bindings.country.inputValue}"
    required="#{bindings.country.hints.mandatory}"
    shortDesc="#{bindings.country.hints.tooltip}"
    id="soc1" autoSubmit="true" valuePassThru="true"
    valueChangeListener="#{pageFlowScope.Bean.onValueChange
    <f:selectItems value="#{bindings.country.items}" id="si2"/>
    </af:selectOneChoice>
    Thanks in advance.

  • How do I get a value from a portal form for a non database field ? HELP!!

    I have a form based off of a table that I added a field to. The form is to allow the user to change abbreviation for a
    department field ie. BIO to BIOL. for a biology department. I have a pl/sql procedure for validation using the custom option
    on the update button to verify the user and update the data. I have tested to code at the sql prompt and it works.
    They only difference between the prompt and the form is the non-database field new_dept_abbr was added to the
    form. I don't know how to capture the value of the user input into a variable that can be used in the pl/sql.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    I have tried this approach
    v_new_dept_abbr := p_session.get_value_as_varchar2(
    p_block_name => 'default',
    p_attribute_name => 'new_dept_abbr'
    have tried using p_attribute_name as 'a_new_dept_abbr' but this does work and does not exist in the body of the form.
    Have also tried setting the p_block_name to _session - still doesn't work.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks
    Debbie Brennan

    Thanks for the info. I tried that and it still doesn't pull the value. I have opened a TAR via metalink, but I'm not getting any
    satisfactory answers. I ran across an note - 137172.1 that has this snippet of information in it.
    Unfortunately, at this time (portal 3.0.7.6.2) , a non-table item cannot be
    referenced in a plsql event handler, only in client side JavaScript code. This
    is a known limitation and will be fixed in a future release.
    I don't know how to get the value from the client side JavaScript code to a pl/sql variable. Do you?
    I've been trying to get them to tell me if the 'known issue' has been addressed in 3.0.9.
    I'll keep at it. Thanks so much for your suggestion I appreciate it.

  • Getting the value of variable in a bean

    hi
    I have method in my class and I'm passing some values in it.
    example:
    public static boolean authenticate( String name, String passwd)
    //declare my variable
    boolean authorized = false;
    //do processing and set my variable
    if(name.equals("") || passwd.equals(""))
    return false;
    // if name and passwd exists set authorized to true
    authorized = true;
    return authorized;
    Question:
    How can I get the value of authorized in my webpage using jsp?
    or
    How can I get the value of authenticate in mywebpage using jsp?
    please help !!!!
    thanks in advance.

    Here's how I did it:
    This snippet is from my StringTable Bean
    public static final String SERVER_ERROR = "Server has returned an error.";
    public static final String DATA_ERROR = "Data could not be retrieved.";This is how I access it in a JSP
    <jsp:useBean id="Strings"  scope="session" class="com.cognitronics.utilities.StringTable" />
    <% if ( strResult.equals(Strings.SERVER_ERROR) ) { blah blah blah... }Hope that helps a little.

  • Getting a value of an input text component in backing bean

    I have created an input text component on a page where I will be entering a number, setting Autosubmit feature as true. ValueChangeListener property is set as #{test.displayTable} where displayTable is a method defined in test managed bean.
    Now I know to fetch the value entered in input text component by creating a RichInputText variable in Advanced property.
    But in case the Advanced property is blank, then how will I be able to retrieve the value of it? This is the code. I am not able to get the value entered in the component. I can't even find any getvalue method for it.
    FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    UIViewRoot root = facesContext.getViewRoot();
    RichInputText inputText = (RichInputText) root.findComponent("it1");  // it1 is the id of the input text component
    System.out.println("inputText: "+inputText);On using sop statement, this is the output which is getting generated, while I had entered 90.
    inputText: RichInputText[UIXEditableFacesBeanImpl, id=it1]

    One more thing. Once the VO is getting refreshed, I am able to display an inline message saying that 'Table refreshed Successfully!' (refer the code)
    But in case if the user doesn't enter anything, and press TAB button, I want to display an error message exactly besides the input text component, saying that 'Please Enter an Integer.' According to my understanding, if the user enters a null value then while casting string to Integer, it will throw an exception, so I will be writing the code in the catch part. Any suggestions?
    public void displayTable(ValueChangeEvent valueChangeEvent) {
            BindingContext bctx = BindingContext.getCurrent();
            BindingContainer bindings = bctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
            OperationBinding method = (OperationBinding)bindings.get("displayEmployeeTable");
            try {
                Integer getValue = Integer.valueOf(valueChangeEvent.getNewValue().toString());
                System.out.println("getValue: " + getValue);
                method.getParamsMap().put("deptId", getValue);
            } catch (Exception e) {
            method.execute();
            FacesMessage message = new FacesMessage("Table refreshed Successfully!");
            message.setSeverity(FacesMessage.SEVERITY_INFO);
            FacesContext fc = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
            fc.addMessage(null, message);
        }Edited by: Sonull on Jan 12, 2013 3:56 PM
