Getting blackberry pearl internet application?

I just got a new pearl, however it doesn't have the internet browser on the home screen. I added the internet to my phone plan, and even got a text saying it had been added, but no internet button has popped up. I went to tmobile and they said to download the blackberry desktop manager, and then run the application manager to get it. I did this, but when I opened the application manager all it says is "the Blackberry desktop software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator."
Does anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this, or at least get internet onto my device? Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forums!
First you have to have a data plan for the browser to work
send your self a PIN message, if you get your data plan is in place and you can follow the
directions below. Iy you don't receive the PIN message you either do not have a data plan
or you carrier does not have your options set correctly
No data will be lost when doing the following: pull the battery while the device is ON.
Replace after a minute, Let the device reboot 1-3 min, see if the problem is fixed.
If that doesn't work :
Go to options advanced options, Host Routing Tables, click to enter. DO NOT click on any listing.
Press menu key, and select register now.
You will get a verification email. Then go to email settings and send service books.
Some models like the Curve 8330 and Pearl require logging into the carriers BIS site
via PC.
You will get an email per account. Repeat the battery pull and see if the problem is
resolved.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,

  • Blackberry Pearl 8130 Applications won't update...

I just downloaded the new DTM and everytime I hit update under Applications I get the response, "Blackberry Desktop Manager could not download the required files. There may be a problem with your network connection or the server is not responding. Please try again later."
    Mac OSX version 10.6.1
    2.4 Intel Core 2 Duo

It also takes a surprisingly LONG time to complete.  I am on a new MacPro 2.66 Quad Core running 8GB ram, so the slowness must be with the Blackberry's little processor.  The application updates took nearly an hour to complete.  I was starting to read the 'troubleshooting' posts and I am glad I let it complete.
Blackberry should have posted how long this takes is normal.

  • Can't Get Blackberry Onto The Internet

    Hi Everyone!
Sorry if this has been asked before. I've been given a Blackberry Pearl on the T Mobile network. My SIM card is on Virgin UK so it lets me make calls and receive text messages but whenever I try to get on the internet it says there's a problem and to talk to my service provider.
I've spoken to Virgin who said the following settings need to be entered but I can't find where to do it, all the places I've tried haven't worked. If I can't get on the internet with Virgin I'll have to move to another network, I just want to try everything before I have to do that! Thanks so much for any help you can give - Virgin gave me the below settings:
    GPRS:
    Name - Virgin WAP GPRS.
    Homepage - www.virgin.com/mobile/wap/
    IP Address - 193.030.166.003
    Access Point - goto.virginmobile.uk
    Port - 9201
    Username - user
    Password - leave blank
Some phones need slightly different settings so, if those settings don't work for you, try entering the following:
    GPRS:
    Name - Virgin WAP GPRS
    Homepage - www.virgin.com/mobile/wap/
    IP Address - 193.030.166.004
    Access Point - goto.virginmobile.uk
    Port -8080
    Username - user

Does that blackberry pearl without internet have any applications I can download?

    Hi there!
Since you have no internet connection, you cannot access the apps for download. So, your options are to find other sources for apps that you can DL to your PC and install to your BB via the Desktop Software. But downloading direct to your BB would require a data connection.

  • Bluetooth internet setup for mac using my blackberry pearl

I have a blackberry pearl with AT&T. I have it set up with my bluetooth for file sharing. I am trying to set up an internet connection with my phone through blue tooth. When I get to the final step I put down all the right information for the telephone and account name and password. I cant find the blackberry modem in my modem list though so I dont know which modem to use.
Please let me know if anyone has had this problem or has a pearl set up right.

I have certain internet pages that refuse to display correctly in Safari or Firefox. Is it possible to download Internet Explorer to my MacBook?
Two things about IE for Mac:
    1. It does not use the same rendering engine as IE for Windows. IE for Mac's rendering engine is currently obsolete...on both platforms.
    2. If your pages need to display with a feature like ActiveX which is Windows only, IE for Mac doesn't have that.
So even if you do get IE for Mac, it might not solve your problem. If the problem is related to the rendering engine or something like ActiveX, changing the UserAgent won't solve the problem either. Won't hurt to try, though.
The most reliable way to solve your problem is to run Windows on your Mac Book through Boot Camp, VMWare Fusion, or Parallels Desktop, and run Internet Explorer for Windows on that. I don't know if it's worth doing for one presentation, but if you do this all the time it might be worth it and if you have enough RAM. At least all you need for Boot Camp is a copy of Windows.

KEEP GETTING  "Unsupported 16-Bit Application" when trying to download Blackberry Link.  Im trying to sync music into my new Z10.  here is the whole error message:
"\??\C:\User.....................cannot start or run due to incompatibity with 64-bit versions of Windows.  Please contact software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows comapatible version is available
Any know how to transfer music without using this Blackberry link?  Is there a quick fix to my problem? Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

Just download the Link application directly to your PC, not with your BlackBerry connected.
There's no need for the connection while your simply downloading the install file.

  • Trying to get contacts from Blackberry Pearl 8230 to iPhone 4

Since the Blackberry Pearl doesn't offer Backup Assistant, I have my contacts backed up on the Blackberry Desktop Software program.  Any idea how I can get them onto my new iPhone 4?
I have not previously used a contact management software program and am hoping to just use the native MacAddress Book software on my MacBook Pro.  MacAddress Book does not recognize the file extension (.bbb) from the Blackberry Desktop program and I have no idea how to change it.
BTW - I'm not very savvy with this, so please 'dumb it down' for me!
    Thanks!

    Hi,
In order to export your contacts from a Blackberry device to a csv file, you would have to use a program such as Outlook or Outlook Express.  If you don't have Outlook, you can download a free 60 day copy of Office 2010 from Microsoft.  That should do the trick for you.  First, save your contacts with Blackberry Desktop Software into Outlook.  Then, from Outlook, export your contacts into a csv file.  From there, you should be able to use iTunes to import the csv file and set up your contacts.  Hope this helps.

  • Internet Access/Email On My Blackberry Pearl 8100.

My mobile ‘phone account is with U.K. Orange on a pay-monthly basis. I recently bought a U.K. Vodafone-locked Blackberry Pearl 8100 from eBay. I got it unlocked successfully and inserted my Orange SIM card in it.
Everything works EXCEPT that I have no internet or email access whereas I did before on my old Orange Treo 600. I don’t even have a browser icon on the “desktop”. I tried to send an email from “Messages” but all I got was “No message services configured”.
Is there any way I can access the internet/email easily with my new Blackberry?
My home computer is an Apple Intel 24” iMac and I have PocketMac for Blackberry.

I just got my Blackberry Pearl 8100 and it has OS v4.2.0.71...I need/would like to have Microsoft To Go, so i can view my work files(excel, word), also would like to view videos(possibly different file formats) that i download, music(mp3's, etc), pics and things like that...where do i start with all of this because i have no idea what to do or how to do it...

I think that your device has lost its OS.
But I am confused : are you sure the "Device Manager" does not recognize the 8100 ? Are you not referring to the "Desktop Manager" ?
Anyway, if the battery pull did not fix the issue, I think you will have to rely on another software than the Desktop Manager to load an OS on your device again. • Help me please! I can't get on the internet with my new phone

Can someone please help me. I purchased my Blackberry Pearl from an on-line seller and it was suposed to be new. The problem comes when I try to set up my e-mail account....I go to my e-mail set-up option and the only one that it gives me is " I want to use a work e-mail account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server" . Obviously I do not want to do this but I have no other options. I can either hit close or next and next ask me for a password from my Enterprise Server administrator. I contacted Verizon and after much run around they finally told me that this phone was connected to another Blackberry account. I don't know if they really knew what they were talking about or if they just did not want to really help me because I did not upgrade my account and buy my phone from them.  It sounds to me like they are trying to say the phone is stolen since they are saying that it is connected with another Blackberry account but if that were the case then Verizon would no be able to activate the phone and I can get it activated and make and receive calls but I cannot get on the internet with it. What good is a smart phone if you can't do everything it is supposed to do?

    Hello,
Actually, what they told you is accurate. BIS accounts are what enable additional services (including Personal email). BIS accounts are all managed by the carriers. One BB, as defined by it's unique PIN, can have only one BIS account on one carrier in the world. If a BIS account exists somewhere else for a specific BB, then a carrier cannot create another account for it. That is the way it works. One of the reasons is of course to prevent the use of stolen items. That's not the only reason, but it's all irrelevant...if a BIS account exists somewhere for that BB, VZW cannot create one for it.
What you need to do is to contact the seller and hope they are reputable. They need to contact their carrier and have that BIS account shut down. Only then might VZW be able to create a BIS account for you.
    Good luck!

  • Blackberry Pearl- Why it's the worst phone ever made

Here's why I think the Blackberry Pearl is the worst phone ever made.
    1. I can't get photo's off of it. My G1 takes a few seconds. I've worked with this Pear for hours upon hours cannot get my photo's off of it. The Desktop manager really bites too no help there. I really dislike this phone. The software just as bad. I guess they were on the move when Desktop manager was getting written.
    2. The phone on occasions would lock on letters instead of numbers. There wasn't an intuitive way to get it unlocked. I found it more intuitive to get a my return from the IRS than it was to get the phone back to dialing numbers.
I'm having my kids dress up as a Blackberry Pearl for Halloween. I'm going to make a Halloween Movie Freddy Kruger attacks people with Blackberry Pearl the topper scene features unsuspecting Pearl user getting tied up and has them attempt to copy their photos off to a PC and the video gets put on Youtube for Christmas.
    Very unsatisfied with your product.
    Don Quixote

I want to join the fun here and list all the different reasons why I'm very unsatisfied with this phone.
The actual phone part of this phone is pretty slow.  It accepts a phone number almost 3 times slower than I can type it in.  Even typing a name on their handy search bar takes forever to get a result.  If I type to fast, it just ignores a couple of my numbers so I have to delete and retype, at the same super slow pace.  I'm guessing that it searches all sorts of contact and history lists to give me cool suggestions, and that's what makes it so slow.  Either way, it irritates me to no end that the basic reason I have this thing is slow as dirt.
All 3rd Party and Blackberry apps require the Blackberry data service.  Even though there's WIFI on this phone, you simply can't connect to anything except the Browser (and even the Browser requires some setting changes to bypass the upsell screen).  This phone CAN do 3rd party services and other applications without the Blackberry data service, but they just don't allow you to.
Sometimes my phone just turns off.  I don't normally mind the 3 minute boot up process, but when I'm in the middle of something and my phone turns off for no reason, it just compounds my frustration.
The keyboard freezes up all the time.  After a good 1-5 minute "please wait clock", I finally get a message saying there was an error and my input application had to be reset.  Sometimes it doesn't quite reset all the way and I have to pull the battery and again wait for the long boot up process.
Its a little unreliable.  Besides the phone turning off at random and the keyboard freezing, I still have problems other problems.  My bluetooth turns off and sometimes doesn't come back.  Once I had to get a new phone sent to me in order to correct that problem.  Pressing buttons doesn't always get a response, especially the green "call" button.  If the phone is bogged down, it just ignored commands, which is pretty frustrating especially if you press a button and accidently double enter a command that is both the "on" and "off" options.  Also, sometimes the screen fades out (like its suppose to) but doesn't come back when you press keys.  Or the external notifications just don't turn on.  It somestimes just doesn't read my memory card.  The zoom feature on my camera also got stuck.
Other small gripes involve having no caps lock, the SureType never learning from my typing ("Hey" always goes out as "Get"), its overall slowness, the looseness of the back casing, the low quality camera, and so much more.
I don't suggest this phone to anyone.

  • Setting up personal email on new blackberry pearl

    Hi all,
I have recently purchased a Blackberry  Pearl and am trying to set up my personal email however I am not being given the option to create or add a new email address....only getting the option for 'enterprise server account for a work email'.  Can anyone assist with this please.  I am not getting any response from my provider and need to set this up urgently.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
To use the proprietary RIM Push email capability, you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), you will then have Personal Email added to the email setup wizard.
