Getting Bluetooth to stay off

I'm trying to get Bluetooth to stay off/disconnected on my MBP C2D, but I'm having some trouble. I've got all of my network locations set so that Bluetooth is not an available connectio. Yet when I power up my MBP (from being completely off), the Bluetooth icon shows that it is available and I have to go in and manually disconnect it. I know for sure that it does this in all of the user accounts I've set up. I think it does it in my admin. account, too, but I haven't gone back to check yet.
I'm sure I'm missig something obvious here. Any ideas?

I would like to assist you today with resoling the Offline issue that you're experiencing with your HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One Printer on your Windows Vista computer. An Offline message can be caused if the computer has set the printer to an Offline mode, or if your printer is actually not connected to the computer anymore. Before we start troubleshooting please check your USB or Network connections to ensure that everything is still connected properly. Should the printer still be connected properly to your Windows Vista computer please proceed with the steps below to resolve this issue.
To start I am going to have you run the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool. This Tool will run on your computer and 'fix printing' issues for you. Should any driver, software, or connectivity issues be found than the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool will attempt to resolve those issues for you.
Please click here to download the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool. Once the website opens please select the Download button on the top left. Once the download is complete please follow the onscreen instructions to 'fix printing'.
Once the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool has completed, please test printing again.
Please respond to this post with the result of running the Print and Scan Doctor Tool. Should the Offline issue persist please include your printers connection type (USB, Ethernet, Wireless) in your response. I look forward to hearing from you!

Black and gray box keeps popping up on my monitor and I cant get it to stay off

Black and gray box pops up on my monitor. Cant move my mouse over it. Cant remove it. It just recently started doing this. I know it has to do with the settings on my monitor, but im not sure how to set it. When I tried, it would go off for a few minutes and then pop right back up. I want to try to set it so that it wont keep appearing. I would aappreciate any suggestions, as im not good at figuring out this sort of thing. Thanks, Mary

Reset: Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears
Then do some house cleaning in iCloud (or purchase more storage)
Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage > Select a device if more that one > Show All Apps and turn off some apps that you don't need or care to be backed up.
Also, connect to iTunes and empty your Camera Roll onto your computer. Photos & videos tend to eat up a lot of space.

I would be concerned too if my iPhone was not turning off. I'm not sure if you have tried this, but I recommend first trying to reset your iPhone:
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

I CAN'T GET MY MACBOOK AIR, IPHONE OR IPAD CONNECT TO EACH OTHER THROUGH BLUETOOTH. I HAVE TRIED ALL THE SUGGESTIONS I HAVE READ, INCLUDING RESTARTING DEVICES, FORGETTING DEVICES, TURNING BLUETOOTH ON AND OFF.

I am unable to connect my Macbook air, iPhone or iPad though bluetooth. I have tried all the suggestions I have read. i.e. toggle bluetooth on and off, turn devices on and off, forget devices and then pair. I seem to be able to pair but the devices immediately go to not connected and a message appears that reads: make sure devices are turned on and in range.

Pairing the phone with the car is one thing, but paring to the computer is not generally supported. Tethering is using the cellular data access from the phone for the other devices. It is part of Personal Hotspot. If you aren't aware of what it is, then it probably is something you do not use.
As far as the car is concerned, what is not working? Does the car not see the phone, or the phone see the car, or after you start to pair something fails? If you provide more information about the problem and what you have tried to do to correct it, then we can offer some solutions. What version of the iPhone, what iOS, and what year and make of vehicle?

I downloaded keynote on to my mac laptop. Whenever I quit keynote it disappears off of my dock. How do I get it to stay on my dock?

When Keynote is open, drag its icon from the Dock right back onto the Dock.
It's hard to imagine it's that easy, but it is.

Mid 2010 Macbook Pro will not stay off or asleep

Hi,
I have a mid 2010 MacBook Pro will not stay turned off when I tell it to shut down. It will shut down just fine, but a few seconds later it will boot up again. This also happens when I try to close the lid (or just put it to sleep), it will work fine, screen/Apple logo on the back will turn off and the status LED will slowly pulse. However a few seconds later, the LED stops pulsing and the Apple logo will illuminate. If I open the lid I will be greeted with the log in page with zero delay (i.e. its been displaying for a while).
This has become problematic because the computer always be running. If I put it in my laptop bag the computer will get hot as ****. The only way to get it to really turn off is to let the battery die or remove the battery. But this computer does not have the externally removable battery so that is not a trivial process.
The symptoms exist in both Mac OS (Mountain Lion and Maveriks) and Windows 8/8.1. This makes me believe its something in the hardware (or at least a setting in the hardware), not software (I know Apple doesn't care what Windows does, but it is exibiting identical behavior).
I have reset the NVRAM and the SMC with no luck. When I reset the SMC I didn't get a good indication that anything happened though, and was wondering if that is normal. Resetting the NVRAM results in another restart, while its hard to tell if you actually reset the SMC. I reset the SMC by turning the computer off, then holding the power button when it tries to restart (this usually gives me a few minutes where the computer will actually stay off), then pressing shift, control, option and power at the same time and releasing them at the same time. This is how the Apple documentation said to do it. They did not mention how long the must be held though so I presume that doesn't matter.
Anyone experience this/have any ideas?

MBP display won't stay off, wakes from sleep

I have a newish 15" MBP, 1680 display, hooked up to a Dell external monitor when it's at home. When I go to bed I cut power to the display via control-shift-eject, but generally don't put the computer to sleep overnight.
With this new machine, after it's been running for a while (as little as a day, or as long as a couple weeks), the displays will come on again in the night. Once this happens, the displays won't stay off for longer than about five seconds. If I then put the machine to sleep, it'll wake itself up minutes or hours later (generally not long enough to miss a Time Machine interval). The only cure is rebooting.
I tried an SMC reset, but that fix only lasted about as long as any other reboot.
I've since tried systematically removing every peripheral (a USB hub, the external display, any directly-connected iOS devices) and testing display-off after each; no change. I've turned off my Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, then disabled Bluetooth on the computer, turned off wifi, quit every menu extra (jitouch, Viscosity, Dropbox, Pastebot, Fastscripts, Transmit, Teleport), and quit every running application. The problem remains repeatable after every step.
It's repeatable at the moment — any suggestions for other things to try, preferably short of the reboot which temporarily masks the problem? I'm a little concerned that it's going to manifest at some point while I have the laptop sitting in a bag, which will then cook itself.
I'm on 10.6.4 now, the problem started on 10.6.3.

Try checking the system logs in Applications/Utilities/Console.app for clues. The entries carry time stamps. Usually a wake event will leave some trace. By matching time stamps to the time of occurrence you may find the culprit.

One of my two screens stays off after coming from standby - OSx 10.10.2 MacMini

When 'reviving' my macmini after not using it for a while one of my screens stays black (The screen stays off so there is no contact from the mac). Even after logging in again the screen stays black.
I can get it to work again by disconnecting both screens and plugging them back in, but that is not a real solution of course. Also, after switching the position of the screens the other screen stays off, so the problem should be in the connection.
I've got a relatively new MacMini with OSx 10.10.2 and have the two screens (same size but not identical) attached via two 'mini displayport to DVI adapters'.
Does anyone have any idea what can cause this?

Can't get Filevault to turn off

I can't get filevault to turn off. I go to system preferences and click turn off and it looks like its about to then its comes up wit a message saying cannot turn filevault off...error...then it says its going to stay on my home folder..I need to turn it off so I can acess my Pro Tools program...also I think that is why some other applications are acting funny...like itunes keeps saying its library is damaged and makes a new one everytime i start the application...also when im on safari it keeps asking about a keychain...

Hi mom, the best solution would be to create a new admin user account and restore your data from your most recent backup.
The damaged FileVault image is encrypted data within a disk image file. None of the repair utilities will be able to do much with it if you aren't able to enter your password and have the volume available in its unencrypted form for repairs. So if it won't mount then back-up the sparseimage to DVD or another hard drive just in case technology makes it possible to recover later and get on with your new <empty> user account.
System Preferences > Accounts > "+" to add a new user.
Click the Security button on the user account screen and check the box at the bottom "Allow user to administer this computer"
Because FileVault images are not generally recoverable, you should at least consider disabling it for all the other accounts on the system as well or setup a regular, frequent backup for each sparseimage file.
Live and learn.
