Getting Bluetooth to stop searching

I got a Motorola H680 Bluetooth headset for Christmas (yay!), and have successfully paired it, tested making and receiving calls, etc. All good.
The only problem is that there doesn't seem to be a setting on my iPhone 3G to make it stop searching for additional BT devices, once it's connected happily to the headset. The "spinning wheel" and the activity it represents seems to be draining the battery, which as we all know, already has a pretty paltry life.
Has anyone else had this issue? Know how to resolve it? Thank you!

Thanks for the response!
I wonder whether my phone is actually "turning off the fridge light," as you say, considering that the battery was completely drained overnight while doing nothing unusual. (I had charged it completely, and left it idle on my desk.) The only thing different from usual activity was that Bluetooth was enabled.
If you have any ideas as to what is going on, I'd appreciate hearing them! Meanwhile, I'm going to try to duplicate the result by leaving BT enabled overnight again, while doing nothing else with the phone, and see whether it's low on battery by morning.

  • Wifi dimmed, bluetooth non stop searching without even turn it on. why?

    Dear all Iphone 4S user....
Recently i'm facing this issue which makes me really ****** off.
Bluetooth all this while never can pair with anything... only keep searching if we turn it on and then off it. But now, some "magic" from apple has made it auto search even without turn on or off. WHY??
2nd, WIFI dimmed/grayed , cannot turn on.. WHY??
Have tried all method, reset network, reset setting, restart.. all NOT WORKABLE.. WHY
    WHY ??? WHY ??? WHY ???
Worst is all this ******** happen when warranty expired...

The ipod and iphone will not connect.  This has never been a feature of either device.
Bluetooth is supported for stereo headsets/speakers, handsfree telephone devices/headsets, some keyboards, some peer-to-peer apps from the app store and internt tethering where provided by the carrier.
Other than this, it will not connect to another device/phone/computer.

  • Bluetooth continuing to search for devices

I have a new Jawbone headset which has paired fine with my iPhone 3G. However, the "Devices" status is continuing to spin in search of other bluetooth devices and won't stop. I'm concerned this will kill my battery. My assumption was that after pairing with the headset, it would stop searching.
Any ideas on how to get it to stop searching for devices?
    Thanks.

It searches for discoverable devices +while you are in Settings > General > Bluetooth+, and for a brief period of time after that. It does not continue after that and will not drain your battery. Of course, if you go to Settings > General > Bluetooth to check, it will start searching - sort of like checking to see if the fridge light is off by opening the door.

  • I have iphone 6 with ios 8.1.1. The bluetooth pairs with my sony car radio and everything works fine. However, the iphone won't stop searching for other devices.

I have an iPhone 6 with ios 8.1.1 operating system. The Bluetooth pairs with my Sony car radio and works fine. However, the iPhone will not stop searching for other devices. This does not seem to affect anything, but I can't help but think it is using battery power.

    One possibility:
How do you know it is searching for other devices?  Because you opened Settings > Bluetooth?
Why is it searching for other devices? Because you opened Settings > Bluetooth?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Stop Bluetooth Discover while searching

    Hello!
I try to make bluetooth connect window like "Add Bluetooth Device Wizard" in MS WINDOWS. I start from this:
It works well, i can see my devices, and devices disappear when i switch them off. searching time (or update time) 6 sec. in Add Bluetooth Device Wizard it is 10 sec. But i can't stop the search in this 6 sec, it just freezing for this time. In "Add Bluetooth Device Wizard" i can press on chosen device and it stop searching or i can press cancel button. Thank you, i'm new in LabVIEW.
P.S i don't know why but it makes only one search without  flat sequence structure.

    Hi timbak,
Actually what is wrong in your program is the sequence structure. This structure cannot be stopped until the code within is completely executed. So when you push the stop-button, first the code in the sequence is executed and then the loop is stopped.
Your code also doesn't make only one search but it displays only the last one because the indicator "device list" is in the loop. If you want to see the results of all iterations, it would be better if you used an auto-indexed tunnel and connect it with a 2-dimentional array of clusters where all the devices for every search are displayed, or you can simply use the Bluetooth discover function without a while loop (which I think is better).
There is a good example in LabVIEW that you can use. go to help >> find examples und in the NI Example finder you can either search the word "Bluetooth" or navigate to "Networking >> Bluetooth" and you will find the project "Simple Bluetooth.lvproj"
    I hope this helps.
    Best Regards
    Maha

I downloaded Skype onto my MacBook Pro with OS X Yosemite, now I'm getting redirected to Bing search engine, also, I'm getting pop up ads non stop! How do I get the pop ups removed?

Only download software from the developer's web site.
Please review the options below to determine which method is best to remove the Adware installed on your computer.
    The Easy, safe, effective method:

If you are comfortable doing manual file removals use the somewhat more difficult method:

  • When typing in a search in the address bar i get redirected to a search assist by Teoma. How can i stop this

Normally when i type a subject into the address bar i get sent to a website that deals with that subject. For example if i typed in "Iron Man" in the address bar then i would be sent to a movie website with iron man details. Now when i type in a subject on the address bar i get redirected to a search assist website powered by Teoma. I haven't changed my default search and I've never even heard of Teoma so I really cant stand that i get redirected there. if i cant get rid of it then i am getting rid of firefox all together because that was the one feature that it had over internet explorer that really mattered to me. How do i change that

I believe I've figured this out. You probably don't have a virus and there may not be much you can do. What is probably happening here is that the DNS provided by your ISP is trapping the request and redirecting you to the teoma server (run by ask.com).
When you enter "flurdl" into the address bar, first the browser (& network stack) tries to resolve it as a host name into an ip address, by contacting the DNS server. If it resolves to an ip address, the connection proceeds. If DNS replies there is no such host, the browser passes it onto your search provider to perform a search.
Your ISP has cut a deal with teoma such that when there is no host, instead of returning that, they return the teoma address. Your browser connects to that address and teoma returns its search page. So your browser never realizes it needs to search; it thinks it hit a valid page.
Why do they do this? Because the search engine gets paid for the "preferred" entries in the search result.
Your options are probably twofold: 1) don't search from the address bar, use the search bar instead. 2) Find another more honest DNS provider and configure it explicitly in your network settings.

  • I keep getting redirected when I search goole, how do I stop it?

I use Firefox to get on the net, Google is my home page. When I search for something on Google I get redirected to another search page. At the bottom it says redirecting Firefox.

Probably caused by search redirect malware.

They are listed in order of efficacy.<br />'''''(Not all programs detect the same Malware, so you may need to run them all to solve your problem.)''''' <br />These programs are all free for personal use, but some have limited functionality in the "free mode" - but those are features you really don't need to find and remove the problem that you have.<br />

  • How do I get it to stop?

I have W8.1 on my HP laptop. I am using my Bluetooth headset to listen to programs, videos, etc. My problem is, especially when I switch between my laptop and cell phone, the Windows Media Player starts up. HOW DO I GET IT TO STOP?
It seems when I hang up from a phone conversation, WMP automatically opens with NO assistance from me. I seldom listen to it, yet it just opens and plays.
Aside from deleting it altogether, what can I do to stop autoplay. Yes, I have tried to stop the autoplay but that does no good. I have over 900 songs on here and do like to listen to it WHEN I CHOOSE, not when it does. Someone please help me!

  • Can't get Bluetooth to work

I can't seem to get bluetooth to work from the Desktop software.
I can pair my laptop and my Storm and transfer my contact to the PC outside of the desktop software but when I go into the desktop software and select configure bluetooth it doesn't see my Storm device.
    Any ideas?
    Best Regards,
    Brian

on your PC, you need to uninstall the Bluetooth stack from the third party, and have the drivers from Microsoft installed.
Otherwise no Bluetooth in the Desktop Manager.
