Getting Canon Profile into ACR

OK folks, Pretty new to this but i saw on Photoshop user TV or something like that, When the host went to the Camera icon in ACR it had the camera profiles such as Portrait, Landscape, Neutral and the others, but here at work and at home the only things that come up is ACR 4.6. How do i get the Canon profiles into ACR? i would much prefer to use this than DPP because is fits into my workflow better.

Please download and install the latest version of the DNG Converter (5.5):
Mac: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4575
Win: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4576
You can ignore the DNG Converter itself for the purposes of this thread. However, the installer will take care of installing all of the latest external color profiles for all Canon camera models that we support. Once you install it, restart Photoshop or Bridge and then when you visit the Camera Calibration panel, the profile popup should have additional options.

  • Getting icc profiles into lightroom

I have downloaded profiles from epson for my 3800 printer, profiles for red river paper.  They do not show up in LR print module.  They do however, show up in Photoshop print module.  What am i doing wrong?

maybe not.  how do i check to see if the profiles are RGB or CYMK?  will RGB profiles still print well on my SP3800?
Double click the profile. It should open in Colorsync utility. In the Header section you should see under "Space" whether it is RGB or CMYK. The profile should also be of class Output. All of RR's profiles that I have used were RGB and work fine in Lightroom. You don't want CMYK profiles for a inkjet printer that uses more than 4 inks and for that reason profiles for such printers are rarely CMYK. So the profiles are probably in the wrong spot or you have a problem icc profile in the profiles folder that trips up Lightroom. You can fix such problems by running profile first Aid in Colorsync Utility. If you don't see where to do that, open a new window in the Utility. In this utility you can also see which profiles are correctly installed in the profiles section.

Please upload one of the files to www.dropbox.com and post a public share link in a reply, here.
Show us a screenshot of the filename in LR that includes the extension of the file.
Right-click on one of these files and do Show in Explorer, then show us a screenshot of the files in the folder that includes the extensions--maybe a Details view.

  • How do I install a camera profile into CS2 raw converter

I recently purchased a ColorChecker Passport and along with the software, created a camera profile for my Olympus E-300. The CCP software crated a camera profile that was duly placed into the c:\users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\adobe\cameraraw\cameraprofile\olumpus e-300 Directory. When I open an olympus ORF raw file from cs2 or bridge, and select the calibrate tab the only thing that is available in the camera calibrate box is ACR 2.4. Clicking the drop down arrow doesn't show anything else.
I have turned off colormanagement in photoshop.
Can anybody tell me how I can get photo shop to recognize the new camera profile?
I have tried restarting photoshop and Bridge after the DCp file was added to teh directory.
    ACR verssion 3.7(?)
    OS is windows home 64
    8 gigs of ram
    Photoshop cs2 version 9.0.1
    adobe bridge cs2 version 1.0.4.6
I have also performed the same tasks on photoshop cs3 on my work computer with the same results.

The earliest version of Camera Raw to use DNG Profiles was version 4.6 in Photoshop CS3...so, you won't be able to use that DNG profile in ACR 3.7.

  • Loading Camera Profiles for ACR

Hello All, I downloaded the camera profiles from Labs.Adobe.com, ran the setup which looks like it put the data in the "Settings" folder under the "Camera RAW" folder.
When I go to Camera RAW and select Camera Profiles then Load, a dialog box opens looking for camera raw settings.xmp in the settings folder, however, the folder is empty.
    Where did I go wrong?
    Thanks for any help,
    Jan

First off, you need to post what version of Photoshop and Camera Raw you are using. Second, while you can indeed download the old "beta" DNG profiles, you may as well forget those and download the final shipping version which is part of the package for installing DNG Converter 5.3. Go to the DNG Product Page and download the 5.3 version-the DNG Profiles (the final release versions) are part of that install See: DNG Product Page
Then I think you are confused on how to use the profiles...when properly installed and using Camera Raw 4.6 in CS3 or at least 5.2 in CS4, the DNG Profiles will show up under the Camera Calibration panel...only when loading a raw file–there are no profiles for JPEGS. Also, the number of profiles and their names will vary by camera. You can _NOT_ load profiles into Camera Raw from within Camera Raw...if you are using the flyout menu at the side, that's the wrong way of using them.
You really need to do some reading...see the docs on Labs at the DNG PROFILES page scroll down and read the Getting Started section. If you want further help, post your system, ACR version and camera...

  • How to  get the profile object in simple java class  (Property accessor)

    Hi All,
Please guide me how to get the profile object in simple java class (Property accessor) which is extending the RepositoryPropertyDescriptor.
I have one requirement where i need the profile object i.e i have store id which is tied to profile .so i need the profile object in the property accessor of the SKU item descriptor property, which is extending RepositoryPropertyDescriptor.
a.I dont have request object also to do request.resolvename.
b.It is not a component to create setter and getter. It is simple java class which is extending the RepositoryPropertyDescriptor.
    Advance Thanks.

Iam afraid you might run into synchronization issues with it. You are trying to get/set value of property of a sku repository item that is shared across various profiles.
Say one profile A called setPropertyValue("propertyName", value). Now another profile B accesses
    getPropertyValue() {
super.getPropertyValue() // Chance of getting value set by Profile A.
    // Perform logic
There is a chance that profile B getting the value set by Profile A and hence inconsistency.
    How about doing this way??
Create PropertyDescriptor in Profile (i.e user item descriptor), pass the attribute CustomCatalogTools in userProfile.xml to that property.
    <attribute name="catalogTools" value="atg.commerce.catalog.CustomCatalogTools"/>
    getPropertyValue()
//You have Profile item descriptor and also storeId property value.
    // Use CustomCatalogTools.findSku();
// Use storeId, profile repository item, sku repository item to perform the logic
Here user itemdescriptor getPropertyValue/setPropertyValue is always called by same profile and there is consistency.

  • How do I import files from My Canon XF300 into FCPX

This is driving me mad, I am trying to import files from my Canon XF300 into FCPX  I have tried everything but no sucess any help would be welcomed.

Is there a plugin for FCPX Ver 10.0.7, I found one for FCP 7  but that doesn't work. I also downloaded The Canon XF Utility but although this opens the clips from the camera I am unable to get the clips into FCPX.
    Fred,
Sorry, I mis-spoke. I do have Canon Utility installed on my SL machine, but have used it mainly as a file review interface and as a backup utility. My MXF files are then brought in via Log & Transfer in FCP 7, which requires one of the plug-ins (and as you noted, does not work with FCPX).
In the majority of situations I'm ingesting on location to a MBP running Lion. In that case, I have the option of importing them either into FCP7 or FCPX.
A came across this hack for  getting the Canon plug-in to install on SL. It looks straightforward but I haven't tried it, so if you do, proceed at your risk. As for me, my plans are to partition my drive later this month and boot from both 10.6 and 10.7 as necessary.
    Good luck.

  • I'm unable to open DNG or RAW into ACR 8.2 from LR5.2 they open directly in PS CC

Since I installed LR 5.2 I'm not able to open DNG or RAW files in ACR 8.2. They open directly in PS CC.

The only way to get a file from Lightroom to open in ACR is to open as smart object. It will still open directly in Photoshop, but you can then reopen it into ACR, from Photoshop, to do further adjustments.

  • Lens Profile in ACR Not Working. Please, help.

    Hi,
    CS5 Extended
    MBP 10.6.3
    ACR 6.1
Although it had been working before, now when I open the "lens" tab in ACR I do not get the "profiling" options. Before, it would find my lens and correct it. Now, those functions are not showing up at all.
Instead, all I have is the vignetting and chromatic aberration choices.
I know I'm having a gray moment, but I just can't figure it out.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks.

    Thanks Jeff,
    You are absolutely right.
I thought I had upgraded properly, but I had not.
Ran the updater again, and success.
    Thanks again.

  • Lens profile downloader does not install profile into LR5

I am trying to install a lens profile for a Canon 400mm 5.6 L lens into LR5. I am using the lens profile downloader 1.0.1 this did install this lens profile to my LR 4 version. It appears to install this lens profile into LR5. However when I look in the lens profile area of LR5, the Canon 400mm 5.6 L profile does not show up. I am running win7 64 bit.

Do not copy your profiles to two different places.  User-created/downloaded profiles will be ignored in the Adobe-application locations and you don't need to duplicate the Adobe-supplied profiles under the Users folder.  This ignoring of user-supplied profiles in the Adobe app folders started some time during the LR4 series.
On Windows 7/8 the following folders are used:
Adobe-supplied lens profiles for Lightroom go under the LR-version\Resources folders:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom X.X\Resources\LensProfiles\1.0
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom X.X\Resources\LensProfiles\1.0 (for 32-bit LR on a 64-bit system)
Adobe-supplied lens profiles for the Camera Raw plug-in used by PS and PSE and PRE go under a ProgramData location:
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0
User-supplied profiles either created or downloaded go under the Users location and are seen by both Lightroom and the Camera Raw plug-in:
    C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\Downloaded
where the Downloaded folder seems to hold all the ones I have download for various camea makes and models, and I don't have to seperate them individually by camera manufacturer although it probably doesn't hurt if you have quite a few of them.

  • Where do I get Lens Profile for lens correction in LR3

I have LR3 and need help figuring something out. I mainly shoot with a Tamron 24-70mm. LR3 doesn't list this lens under the lens correction so I can't correct any of the lens distortion. Anyone know where/how I can locate/install this profile? Do I get this from Adobe, Tamron, etc?

There are three Tamron 24-70 lens profiles, but all were added to the LR 4.x series:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/lens-profile-support-lightroom-4.html
So the obvious solution is to upgrade your LR to 5.x for $80, or sign up for PS-CC+LR5 bundle at $10/month (for a limited time).
A more complicated way to get these profiles is to install the latest DNG Converter which includes all lens profiles, then copy the lens profiles you need over to the third-party lens profile under your Users folder and LR 3 should pick them up, assuming that folder hasn’t changed places between LR3 and LR5.
I am not a Mac person, but on Windows, the DNG Converter installed profiles would be under:
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\Tamron
And the place to put them is:
    C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\downloaded
AppData is a hidden folder so you just have to type it into the Explore address area and hit Enter or turn on hidden folders in Explorer or type %APPDATA% in Explorer and hit Enter will get you down to the Roaming folder.
You can find the latest DNG Converter at:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates

  • After Effects is cropping photo sequences imported as footage and brought into ACR

When I bring in a photo sequence into After Effects using File>Import>File and import the photos as footage the photos come into ACR as 16:9 instead of 3:2 (how they were shot.)
For instance, all of the photos in my sequence are 5760x3840. When i bring them all into photoshop they maintain that size, but for some reason when I import them as footage in AE, when the ACR dialog box comes up, the photos are now cropped to 5760x3240. Why is this happening?

Presumably it tries to be all too helpful and overlays the last used comp aspect ratio for preview. In turn this means you would have to create a 3:2 comp, so it becomes the last active setting. No idea, realy. I barely use ACR in Photoshop, much less in AE, since I only need it when I get baby or wedding photos from friends every now and then and otherwise we don't work with RAW/ DNG sequences...

  • Downloading printer profiles into PS6

I can't get some official ICC profiles for my Epson R3000 printer to show in PS6 even though I have downloaded them correctly to the appropriate folder and also copied them to Adobe's folder as well. I want to print on canvas but printer won't recognise the paper type without these profiles and I can't get the profiles to show as an option on PS6 printer menu. Any ideas?

Hi John - you were right - the FAQs told me where to look, so I deleted the Preferences file (actually renamed it) and let it get on rebuilding. Apart from the irritating lectures on the parts of Lightroom (it had lost track of the fact that I didn't want to see that message) it made no difference to the lack of printer profiles. The list progresses through the Canon profiles, and down to Harman. It just doesn't go on to the rest of the list.
I know the rest of the list exists because CS3 can find all the profiles - just that LR 1.4 cannot

  • Opening into ACR from Lightroom

I have downloaded the recent ACR 7 plguin for CS6.  From Bridge I can open my faw files and the automatically open into ACR before photoshop.  But can I do this from Lightroom?  I know I can right click, get a drop down menu, and choose edit in photoshop, but at this point I would assume it would open up the ACR editor, but doesn't happen.  what am I missing?

As far as raw conversion is concerned, you accomplish nothing by going from Lightroom to ACR because the controls are the same.  Photoshop uses ACR to interpret the Lightroom adjustments.  But, theoretically, that is all ACR is needed for in the transition from Lightroom to Photoshop.  However, there is an option in Lightroom that allows you to open an image as a smart object.  Or, once in Photoshop, you can convert an image to a smart object.  Then, from Photoshop, you can open the image in ACR to make further adjustments if necessary.
