Getting Canon S90 CR2 files off my iPad to my PC

Using the camera connection kit, I transferred a number of Canon S90 CR2 files to my iPad. That worked fine as it always does.
But how do I get them onto my PC?
Canon Camera Window says it does not find any "camera", when the iPad is plugged in.
Windows Live Photo Gallery and Windows Scanner and Camera Wizards do not recognise CR2 files.
Nikon Transfer finds jpeg and NEF files, but obviously not CR2 files.
Is there any trick I have missed, or any other software I should try?
The CR2 files display well on the iPad, and I can open them in for example Filterstorm to convert them to jpeg, but that is not really a solution long term.

I can confirm that this works with Lightroom 3.3 on a PC, with Canon CR2 files.  On the iPad, use the camera connection kit to import your photos.  Later, start Lightroom and connect your ipad to the PC.  Start Import in Lightroom.  The iPad will appear as a device (be patient) and you can then import as normal.  Only Imported Folders and Saved Photo folders will appear.
A simpler way though is to connect your ipad to the PC and use Explorer.  Quit iTunes.  The iPad should be listed under Computer.  Click on that, then Internal STORAGE, then DCIM.  the folders listed with cryptic names such as 800AAAA are for Saved Photos, Current Import, etc.
You cannot see your synched photos, but then why would you want to?

  • Converting Canon S90 CR2 files with DNG 5.6

I have converted files from my S90 with the latest version of DNG Converter. When I compare the DNG file to the original CR2 file, there is a marked increase in saturation, and also more noise. Am I doing something wrong with the conversion? Help please. I am using Adobe RAW 4.6 with Photoshop CS3. Comparative files can be viewed at http://dobbino.blogspot.com/2009/11/dng-converter-canon-s90-raw-files.html

  • CS3 Camera Raw PlugIn for Canon S90 .CR2 files

What plug in is needed for Photoshop CS3 to read the .CR2 files from my Canon S90 camera, and where can I get it?

The S90 is not yet officially supported by Camera Raw.
Eventually, when it is supported, you can use the latest version of the DNG Converter to process a S90 raw file into a DNG file, which can then be read in CS3 (e.g., using Camera Raw 4.6). This will enable you to perform S90 raw processing in CR 4.6.

Cannot transfer videos taken from my Canon camera(MOV files) to the iPad 4. They have previous with no problems at all. Is this an update issue? I tried to sync them over using iTunes last night but it says that they cannot be played on the device. But they have previously

1, you can't at the moment, though with iOS 5 in the Autumn, from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos :
Even organize your photos in albums — right on your device
2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad

  • Can't open .CR2 files off of a Canon PowerShot S95 (LR3/PS cs5)

I just bought the new Canon S95.  I download pics off of a reader and usually go directly through LR.  This time, LR would only download the few Jpgs I had on the SD card and showed me "The files are from a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom."
It does however show a Canon S95 as part of the info when viewing the jpegs in the library module.
I copied the files from the SD card to my hard drive via copy and tried to open the files in Photoshop and got the following error.  "Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw.  Please visit the Camera Raw help documentation for additional information."
I am running a MacPro with 8 G of ram and the current versions of LR3, Photoshop CS5 and Camera Raw.   I can see the thumbs of these raw files in finder where I placed the copies.  I have downloaded many .CR2 files from a Canon S40, S70, 20D, etc.  I'm lost.
    Thanks to all.
    Peace

That's silly.     The Adobe DNG Converter and ACR are always released in tandem and the same camera models are supported in each respective version.
If that camera is not yet supported in any version of ACR, it wll not be supported in any version of the DNG Converter either.

  • Canon Raw (CR2) files seem to get corrupted after some times

    Hello
I use a fully registered Lightroom 5.3 with my Canon 5D Mark III, and I have this kind of corruption on some of my CR2 files from times to times. If i reimport the .cr2 file in another catalog or even on another the resulting file is still corrupted.
The wierdest thing is that the original import was successful and I successfully exported it several times correctly. The corruption should have happens afterward:
Do you have any idea where does this comes from? This is absolutely inacceptable from a professional software.
PS: I had this kind of curruption with an old version of Lightroom with my previous pentax K7d, but I though this was past
    Thanks you very much

Yes, -failing hardware (typically disk or ram).

The software is not corrupting them, it's just revealing existing corruption. (yeah, I know some apps can still display the jpeg preview without revealing the corruption, still... - Lr is a raw editor..).

  • Please Help, Very Frustrated - iPhoto 11  & Canon Raw(.cr2) files

I recently started shooting raw(.cr2) with Canon 6D (on the list), while on vacation of course.... while there I loaded all my images to my Ipad to save room, due to only having my 16gb memory card with me, yesterday I decided to take them off the ipad and store them in iPhoto where all my work is stored and back it up to my external harddrive,  I have tried for 4 hoursto figure out why it won't upload to iPhoto 11, nothing works, it acts as if its uploading and then after 30 mins it says unrecognizable format(see screen capture below).
I have read several other different forums and similar questions all the way back to 2005 and nothing seems to help, I tried making a smart album, updating the software, but iPhoto will not recognize the pics.  I did find one forum that said use Image Capture and do it that way, It worked to move them off the ipad but only to my extrenal hard drive with no image preview, saying it cannot open the file, all I eally want to do is have them load like all my other images into iPhoto which I use almost everyday and not have to go back to shooting jpeg along...PLEASE HELP any suggestions??

Thanks everyone...I tried and even downloaded the specific software released from Canon specific for Mac for my camera a Canon 6D... Nothing worked... IPhoto never would recognize the images....
BUT .....  in case someone else has this problem... I had to jump through hoops to figure it out... but finally with the help of several forums on here... I figured out a way to save my images and have them in a jpeg format to save for my memory folder for my daughter....so I did figure out a way to make it work...
If you transfer for images from camera(in raw format .cr2) to your ipad...... and cannot load them to iphoto like me....here is how to do it....
    1. I searched my Mac, it comes with a software installed called "Image Capture" find it and load your pictures on
your ipad to a folder on your desktop for easy finding.
    2. Search Google and Download Program Called Rawker....
    3.  Open Rawker... go to File
                                  a.  Select Batch - Select source Location - Select your file you saved your images in
                                  b.  Select File Batch - Select Source Destination - either make a file on your desktop or
select where you want your newly converted RAW/jpeg images to be placed
                                  c. Select File batch and Start Batch...
    4. After its done with the convert -  you can import that new .jpeg folder of images to your iphoto
Bunch of crazy circles because I was told it was better to shoot in Raw .cr2 ... NOT ... It might be if you have the right program but I guess none of the ones I tried worked....
Until I find a better way I will just go back to shooting in jpeg fine.
    Thanks again Everyone

  • HELP! Cannot open Canon RAW (CR2) file in PP5.5.2 (Mac)

    Hi folks.
I cannot import RAW (CR2) files (Canon 5D2) files into premiere pro 5.5.2!
I can get them into After Effects (through cameraraw) but PP does not even show them as a "supported file type"
If I drag and drop from the finder I get "unsupported file type" error
My understanding is that CR2 files are supported in CS5.5
    Any ideas
MacBook Pro OS X 10.7.2 (Lion)
For the rest, everything seems to be "normal"
    Thanks in Advance
    Tom

To use Camera RAW, you will need to process the files through a Camera RAW converter. With the proper ACR module, PS, and Lightroom will handle that processing, as will the Canon utility. With Adobe ACR, make sure to update to a version that handles YOUR camera's RAW files - mfgrs. tweak those model to model, so keeping the ACR module current will insure that you can handle the particular Camera RAW files properly.
I agree with Stephen's rec. to NOT use JPEG, if ultimate quality is of a concern. In PS, I just process my Nikon, Panny or Canon Camera RAW files to PSD. I would assume that the Canon utility would have the option for TIFF, as my older one does - there is no option for PSD in it. Do not know about the newer Canon Camer RAW processing, but TIFF should be just fine.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How can I get my apps and pics off my iPad 2 to my iPad 3?

I need to get all my apps and such off my iPad 2 and am not sure how to do that.

You can copy all iTunes purchases from your iPad 2 to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases.  You can then force a backup of the iPad (assuming that you want to restore it onto your iPad 3) by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes and selecting 'Backup', and you can copy off photos/videos that you've taken with the iPad to your computer : photos to computer. Photos and videos that you've taken with the iPad that are in the Camera Roll album will be included in the backup (and therefore copied via a restore), but you may want to take your own backup of them.

  • Canon G9 CR2 File Problems

I'm running into some troubles with this combination of CR2 files from the Canon G9 and using Lightroom 1.3 or Photoshop CS3.
When I import the files from the camera using Lightroom's import function (and yes, I have the 4.3 camera raw update installed), Lightroom brings over both the .jpg and the .cr2 files (so far, so good) but then I run into problems.
First problem: The .CR2 files have improper white balance set on them. catastrophically so, as I'm using the camera for infrared shots and without the original white balanace settinsg taken at the time of shooting the shot is useless. The .jpg's are fine, but obviously lack the full details of a raw file, which I would prefer to work with.
Second problme: When I right click on the .cr2 image in Lightroom and choose to edit it in Photoshop, the result is that Photoshop opens the file as a Tiff image and I never get the opportunity to use the Camera Raw loader settings for the raw image in photoshop, which are fairly important to me.
Third Problem: If I open the image directly in photoshop, it will initiate the Camera Raw 4.3.1 loader (a good thing) but still has the color balance issues. And for an instant when the file loads in camera raw 4.3.1, a triangle warning sign shows in the upper right corner of the picture then dissappears. I have tried using the Adobe RGB, Colormatch, ProPhoto and sRGB settinsg, 8 and 16 bit, all to no avail, I still lose the white custom balance as shot.
Any help on this would be very much appreciated, I've thus far been totally unable to work with raw images from the G9 regardless of what versions of the various software and tools I have loaded.

Hi, thanks once again for responding.
My dilemma is that the final results of an artifically induced white balance through channel switching won't give the same results as the false color image produced when the original white balance is done on-site using the non-IT filtered color metering system of the camera. It can give an approximation, but it will lack in a great many nuances.
IR images taken using the Canon G9 produce correct .JPGs, but the processing of the CR2 files by camera raw is flawed in the way that it is handling the white balance settings in the CR2 it seems. Images produced by other camers such as our Nikon D80 or others that use formats other than CR2 come through perfectly. Only the CR2 images are incorrect. This may be linked to the use of custom white balances instead of standard white balance settings, perhaps something in the file contents identifying which white balance (the camera has approximately eight) is being used and should be processed. Or perhaps the file itself is being incorrectly produced by the camera. Who know, eh?
I know the CR2 format in the G9 is relatively new and full support will come in time, but I'd hoped that it was some obscure setting that could get us back on track. In the meantime, we are using the .JPG images from the G9, which come through correctly processed. But this is sub-optimal, and one of the primary reasons for settling on the G9 was to have the raw images. Afetr all, how many 12MP compact cameras out there produce raw image files, eh? :)
If nothing else, perhaps this conversation will prompt some research and eventually correct processing of CR2 will emerge.

  • Canon 450D CR2 Files compatible with Photoshop Elements 7?

I have recently bought a Canon 450D camera and have noticed that the RAW CR2 images produced are not compatible with my Photoshop CS2 version. I'm not sure about upgrading to the latest version of Photoshop since I probably wouldn't use all the features but I would probably upgrade to Elements 7. Is Elements 7 completely compatible with my Canon CR2 files and has anyone else used this combination and been impressed with the results?
    Thanks.

The 450D came out after CS2 was obsolete so you need at least CS3 to read 450D RAW files.
Elements 7, being the current version, would support the 450D RAW files; however, I use CS4 and LR2 with my RAW files so cannot say how good PSE is or isn't.
The other option is to convert the RAW files to DNG with the latest free DNG Converter and then use CS2 with the DNGs.
If you have a dual or quad-core system with at least 2GB of memory, I'd suggest using Lightroom.

  • Bridge in trial CS4 doesn't read my Canon G10 .CR2 files

One of my motivations for upgrading to CS4 is to use my canon G10 files through bridge.
I've transferred the files from the camera to my computer. I've also run them through the latest DNG converter to use with CS3 - that worked fine.
Now bridge in the CS4 trial lists the .CR2 files, but with no metadata or thumbnail. If I double click on the file, CS4 says "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." The .DNG versions load without any problem.
Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Arthur

    Thanks Don.
I had just come to that conclusion and tried to edit my post but it didn't seem to work.
My question now is, if I update to CR5.2, will that mess up CS3 (in case, for example, I don't end up keeping CS4)?

  • Open Canon 6D, CR2 files in Elements 10

I recently upgraded my camera to the Canon 6D. Took loads of great pictures only to find that when I tried to open them in Elements 10 the programme didn't support them!!!
I've search and trolled through every forum I can find lookong for a solution, to no avail! Can some one please help or do I simply just have to upgrade (again) to Elements 11?
Thanks for any help I may receive in advance, furious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

According to the supported cameras list, the 6D was first supported by ACR 7.3, which is newer than PSE10:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
You can buy PSE12 which comes with ACR 8.x, or you can convert your CR2 files to DNGs, a folder at a time, with the free DNG Converter 8.2 and open them with the older Elements ACR plug-in.
The DNG Converter is available from the Adobe Updates page:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates.html
I’d suggest downloading the trial for PSE12 and make sure it works on your system before paying for it.

  • Problems with Canon 7D .cr2 files

Hello, this question may have already been asked but I have been unable to find an answer -- if it is in another discussion, please feel free to direct me there.
I have .cr2 files from a Canon 7D that produce significantly different results in Lightroom 3.3 versus Canon's Digital Photo Professional (3.7.1.1) software -- that is, the LR3.3 results show much poorer quality than DPP, with terrible grain throughout. There is also a significant color shift. These results carry through to output files (e.g. 16-bit TIFF, no compression), rendering Lightroom essentially unusable for developing my RAW .cr2 files, since they are not being rendered at highest quality.
Here is a 1:1 comparison below. This image below is a more extreme example to demonstrate the issue, shot at ISO 3200 f/5.6 1/100 sec.
And, albeit slightly more subtle, the grain is still clearly present in images shot at ISO 100.
I previously used ACR in CS4 to review my .cr2 files when I purchased my 7D fall 2009, but found the grain so distracting that I switched to DPP with much cleaner results. I chalked the grain in ACR up to an early pass at reading the 7D .cr2's. When upgrading to LR3 I expected the render to be better refined, only to find it as bad as ACR CS4.
If the grain is a permanent fixture of .cr2 RAW files in the ACR engine, LR3 is pretty much worthless to me. I had hoped to be able to quickly catalog/review and develop using the LR interface, instead of manually cataloging images, then going to DPP for TIFF output, and then Bridge/ACR for development.
Any insight or advice on a good fix would be much appreciated.

What noise reduction are you applying in LR?
LR's noise reduction in LR 3 is just about the best I have ever seen and certainly far superior to anything in DPP. If you are just looking at the initial preview then only a minimum amount of colour noise reduction and no luminance noise reduction is applied by default, where as DPP applies considerable noise reduction based on in camera settings. LR previews will not match DPP's inital previews of the files, but the tools in LR enable you to produce far better final results.

  • PS CS5 w/ ACR 6.7 cannot read Canon 7D CR2 files

    Hello,
I recently upgraded from a Canon 50D to a Canon 7D.  On my iMac I am running PS CS5 Extended 12.0.4 and have updated to camera raw 6.7.0.339.  Unfortunately, PS is not reading the CR2 files from the Canon 7D; "Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw".  From what I have read, Canon 7D support was added to ARC 5.4 and, by default, is a part of ACR 6.7.  All the similar posts list the solution as updating ACR to latest version which I have done. Ultimately, I would like to avoid converting the CR2 files to Adobe DNG.  I can confirm that the CR2 files in question are complete and are not corrupted as I can view them with both Windows and Mac photo previewers.
    Any suggestions or ideas?
    Thanks in advance!
