Getting data from Iphone 3gs to Iphone 4
Hi. This question has probably been answered a thousand times here, but anyways... I just got an Iphone 4, how do I get my songs and pictures and data from my old Iphone 3gs to my new Iphone 4. Thanks.

Having Trouble getting data from iphone 4 to itunes so I can ultimately transfer to 4s.
Original itunes machine is dead, so I deauthorized all machines and authorized current machine and couldn't sync items from phone to machine. Apple then told me to uninstall itunes and reinstall, have done so but still can't get it to sync all items from phone to itunes library. (It only synced purchased songs, none of the apps) I want all the data on my phone to go to my computer, not what is on computer but can't get there. Any suggestions?
Media sync (music videos, etc.) is 1 way. Computer to iPhone. Items purchased on the phone can be transferred using File>Transfer Purchases in iTunes. If you have music on the phone that was synced to it from another computer but not purchased from iTunes, you will either have to use the backup of your old computer to get it on the new one, as suggested above, or invest in 3rd party software to extract it from the phone.

I have forgotten my iPhone backup password. Is there a way of getting it as I am trying to load my old data from iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5?
If on a Mac, and you elected to save such to your Keychain, you can recover it from your Keychain. Otherwise, you can't.
While you can continue to sync/backup, if you can't remember it & want to remove it, you'll have to delete your existing backups & restore the phone as a new device. Your data will be unrecoverable. -

If Outlook already has a munch of contacts, do I need to delete them all (all but 1 unique) to sync correctly?
I have and iPhone ith up to date contacts, and I have outlook with some of the same contacts with older info. When I sync, outlook is OK, but I get a lot of copies of the same contact on my iPhone. Now I'm not entirely sure which are the up-to-date contacts and which aren't (and there's hundred of contacts to go through).
...For future reference, is there a way to to send the iPhone contacts to Outlook without adding crap to my phone? Amidst the sync process I noticed and option for conflicting files and choose the "always use phone" but still wound up with a contact mess of mixed old and new on the phone. -

Cochin/IndiaThere may be other ways, but the best way I've found is:
Set up an iCloud email account so that you can use the Notes part of this service. Note that I said "iCloud email" not "iCloud" ... you need to enable the email service of iCloud in order to get the iCloud Notes feature. Otherwise, the "Notes" app on your device will only store notes on your device, or maybe sync them with some other email account (e.g. Gmail, Yahoo ... but does so poorly IMO).
On your Macs, set up the same iCloud account as on your iPhone. Now that you've set up the email part of iCloud, you can enable the Notes feature of iCloud on your Macs.
Be sure to set iCloud as the default account to store your notes, in case you have other email services with a Notes feature.
New notes that you create on any device will sync to each other.
Notes that you created before doing all this cannot sync to your Macs, since the notes were not in iCloud. Just turning on iCloud Notes does not cause them to enter iCloud and sync -- you'd have to copy and paste them into a new note, after ensuring that iCloud is the default account for any new notes. -

Exactly what are you trying to do about getting data from your iPhone? You can backup using iTunes on a computer. But iCloud is not an option if your iPhone/iOS info shown is correct. The iPhone 3g can only go up to iOS 4.2.1 so you don't have iCloud available for backup.

How to get pictures from iphone 4s to iphoto?
I am unable to get the pictures from my new iPhone 4s transfered to iPhoto on my iMac (version 10.5.8).
It does sync via iCloud to my iPad, but it will not transfer pictures to iPhoto when connecting the phone to my iMac. The phone doesn't appear on iPhoto... I don't have iCloud on my older iMac. It is not very impressive if you must have iCloud to be able to get pictures from iPhone 4s to iPhoto!
Any ideas?I'm having the same problem. I know that doesn't help you, but at least you know you're not alone.

Hook the phone to the computer, open the Computer icon and look for the iPhone folder. Copy the images. Not difficult at all. Sync your contacts with Outlook through iTunes. Not really so difficult.

You cannot use AirDrop to transfer files between an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and a Mac. You can only use AirDrop to transfer files between two iPhones, iPads and iPods touch, or between two Macs. This is caused because AirDrop does not work in the same way in iOS and OS X. -
