Getting Database UpDown Event Cleared all the time

Hi !
As topic. I'm getting false "Database UpDown cleared" events without any CRITICAL events multiple times a day. A have deregisterd the event, stoped the agent, removed all the q-files and registered the event again. Any sugesions ? I have W2K-cluster with OFS.

IPod classic 80GB: TV out settings cleared all the time

Hi,
despite of the experiences others made, I succeeded in connecting my iPod to the TV. I'm currently using the Universal Dock with a S-Video connection.
BUT: I have to tell the iPod everytime I place it into the dock to use the TV-out. Having done this, it works like a charm. But the next time, I plug it into the dock it's the same procedure. As it my first iPod with video capabilities I'm not sure how this worked for the 5th generation iPods.
Any hints?

Yes, I bought the dock so I could hook it up to my tv. Then I had to buy the cable, I didn't get the cable from Apple. at the time the cable was $50, I went to ebay & found the same cable for about $20. Just like you, I could not find an answer about why the dumb thing wouldn't work, so I just had do my own experiments. Good luck getting Apple to do anything. They don't seem to want to give anything away or replace merchandise.

Macbook Pro getting slower and slower, freezing all the time

My early 2011 Macbook Pro is gettin slower and slower, and I'm pretty sure Mavericks only worsened the condition. This is my report, can someone help me on why this is happening?

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. This procedure is a diagnostic test. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
The command may take up to a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. Wait for the line "Step 1 done" to appear below what you entered. This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. I used to use PS7 then upgraded everything including computers. Now I get out of ram errors all the time. Not Happy!! Ideas?

I used to be able to minipulate huge photoshop files.
Now I can't even get one to go from 20 to 50 gig!
All I get is this out of ram error.
I have a 400G scratch disk and well over optimum on all settings!

The order varies depending on your individual needs:
1. Maybe you have to activate/deactivate, so please have a look there:

2. Sometimes, we know in the meantime, the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
3. Did you already try "uninstalling and re-installing"? Be careful with (de)installing aso. by (de)installing by your own resources. As much as I regret it and as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)

How do I get rid of "Authentication Required" all the time?

In Firefox ONLY at certain sites (perhaps Google sites) a dialog box pops up and at the top it says, "Authentication Required" and I can type in any of my Google log-ins and click OK and it goes away FOR A TIME. It keeps popping up as I am browsing. There is usually a line pertaining to mail delivery. I can't seem to capture the dialog box in order to send it to you. Now that I would like to show you what it says I can't make it appear.

There is no "switch" to turn off Private Browsing. A "hack" was posted in this forum for Firefox 3.5 and 3.6 versions a number of times, but Firefox 4.0 has that file that needs to be hacked is inside the omni.jar file which makes accessing the file that controls PB a lot more difficult. Plus, the hack will probably be gone the next time Firefox is updated with a new omni.jar file.

I-Pad Mini and Wi-Fi Connection-I-Pad Mini does not connect to the Wi-Fi while IPad and IPhone 5 works in the same location. Then when I go to another location the Ipad Mini works. How can I get Wi-Fi to work all the time like Ipad and Iphone 5?

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Rainbow spinning ball comes on all the time

I work in photoshop, on pretty huge files. about 4 GB, the maximum it can take. I have 8 gb of ram (although I know CS2 can only take advantage of 3 something GB). The thing is that my computer is getting slower and slower, and I get that spinning rainbow ball ALL THE TIME. It's driving me crazy. It's come to a point now that when I start up the computer, photoshop won't even open a file. It will just spin that rainbow ball and when I go "force quit" it says "photoshop (not responding)" I restart a couple of times and then finally I get it to work.
What's a good FREE utility to download that can check for file errors? I haven't run any sort of check on my computer ever.

The only free utility to check for disk problems is Disk Utility which is included with your Mac. There is a good utility called YASU which can be used to rotate log files and clean caches. I have never used it to clear caches as that is a troubleshooting step and not needed for routine maintenance. You might want to read about basic maintenance here:

My 2nd generation iPod touch keeps shutting off and I would need to restart all the time. Can apple still do anything about it even though it's a very old iPod touch?

I've had my iPod touch for a really long time and it recently starts to shut off or freezes all the time. There is always batteries in it and I am getting annoyed by restarting it all the time. Is there any way to fix this and will apple do anything about it because it is a old generation iPod touch. Thanks!

Database Time Spent Waiting (%): Wait Class Other nearly 100% all the time

Don't understand why OEM is reporting that Database Time Spent Waiting (%): Wait Class Other is nearly 100% all the time. Database 10.1.0.4 just installed on Linux(RHEL4AS) and nobody use it for now except OEM and me for admin purpose.
Any clue for that problem ?

Database Time Spent Waiting (%) at 100 in event class Commit, this event happend every 1 or 2 minutes sometimes at 100, the next 40%, the next 98, ... and so on.
Do you know what's happend in this instance?

This wait class only comprises one wait event - wait for redo log write confirmation after a commit (that is, 'log file sync')
So you can't write fast enough into your log files.
Did you check the frequency of log switches?

Hi José! Please don't get anxious because of this: Wait time must be SOMEWHERE, there's a saying "An OLTP DB is only as fast as its redo logs", but if you are not having any performance problem you don't need to do anything special.
You say you've just created the DB. Now make it DO something: put it to the test by simulating production conditions as closely as you can, and after some hours ask the users whether there is some problem. If there is, take a look at the wait statistics... you'll probably see many other top events before this one!

Remove the help-desk access to user objects and see if it gets disabled again or not. :)
If you have third party tools which manage user accounts, review their configuration. FIM for example is one of the tools that has authority to disable/enable the accounts. Also If I had no clue what is going one I would enable auditing on user objects and
filter my security event viewer for user changes to see who is disabling them.

Can't load website with .jsp - get blank page? Doesn't happen all the time

When I try to open American Eagle Outfitters website, I get a blank page and it will not open. The site is ending in index.jsp. I have 3 computers and it does it sporatically on all 3. ie. 1 may open the website, 2 won't or 2 might open website and 1 won't or none of the 3 will open. I know this has to be something simple but it has been doing this for about 3 months and it is driving me nuts because I can't get on there to pay my bill or even shop! Help!!

I'm having the exact same problem! I've been using the website a lot recently, and then just about a week ago the website just wouldn't load. The page would go white and would say "Done" at the bottom of the screen. I tried googling the website to try and go in through there, and I can only seem to enter the site through "Find a Store Near You". Only this page seems to work, and whenever I click on "Women" or "Clearance" or "WishList" or anything else the page just goes white again and won't load. I've googled "websites won't load" and I've tried all the suggested steps and nothing seems to be working. I order off AE all the time and was ready to place an order, which I now can't do because I can't even sign in to the website.

The "fix" is to get the phone repaired. There's no magic solution for a broken phone.
Bring your phone ant $149 to Apple for an out of warranty replacement, or find a 3rd party repair shop near you.

Your notes should be stored in your backup, so if you have backed up the iPad and that backup does contain those notes that you deleted, you can try restoring from your backup. If you haven't backed up the iPad since you created those notes, they are gone.
If you backup with iCloud only, restoring from backup involves erasing the device and then going through the setup all over again and finally restoring from the iCloud backup. This article explains the process quite clearly.

If you backup with iTunes, connect the iPad to your computer, launch iTunes and right click on the device name on the left and select - Restore from Backup. But before you do that .... turn off auto sync in iTunes - without connecting the iPad - launch iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box at the bottom of that window in order to turn off auto sync.
Email messages are not stored in your backups.
