Getting Dump for depreciation run

Hello
While taking the depreciation run thr tcode AFAB one background job is created for posting the depreciation value.
But this background job is terminated giving short dump for INSERT BSEG statement.
runtime error DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_REQUEST is raised.
But the same transaction works fine on quality server with same parameters.
What might be the reason?? How to trace the reason??

i think insertions in table bseg is not allowed on server u r working on..

We have around 15,000 assets in our company code. We have requirement that, asset management team will check the depreciation and execute the depreciation for all 15000 depreciation. However at this time, FI postings should not be available.
Later the finance team will re-check the depreciation on test check basis and post it to FI. Trial balance will be updated.
In short, I require park and post for depreciation run in SAP.

Hi Meena,
You can verify planned depreciation in Asset report S_ALR_87011990 and do not tick depreciation posted check box and give report date as the last date of the month you want to verify.
It will give depreciation planned details up to the month in the field dep for the year.
After verifying this you can run AFAB then check the same T code and this time tick depreciation posted check box. Now it will give you depreciation posted.
There is no parking concept in Asset module.

BW: Not getting Dump For Program error in Process Chain

I have one issue regarding Master data loading issue in BW(3.5).
My business flow like we have received data from server A and Server A extract data from Server B and
Server B which is extract data from source(R/3).
Flow like this R/3-->Server B-->Server A(ETL) -
> My Server.
We have a mater data process chain and that chain we have have the source system Server A but in the process chain one process is there which is fethces data like global transport e.g UOM,factory calender etc through Custom program directly from Server B.
Oneday what happened On that process the process chain Yellow since more than 16 hrs.Once nextday process chain trigger the process chain runs sucessfuly.
But lastdays process chain paticular process stills remains yellow?
We are not getting any dumps and even if from Server A there is no logs then anyone could please tell me what is reason and how to solve it.
Note: it will be helpful for me if any one know how to check dump for program errors in Process chain as narated issue.

The question is, why the program RSBATCH_EXECUTE_PROZESS is not scheduled. Is it because there is no free resource? Or poor response from SAP ECC?
Finally what does "EXTRACTION OF DATAPACKAGE 000001" mean? Its not scheduled?

Getting dump for every senario

Hi experts
I am new to workflow i am getting dump on execution of every senario......
i am providing code of that one.... plz help me.
The following syntax error occurred in the program
CL_SWF_RUN_WIM_LOCAL==========CP :
"You can only define attributes in the PUBLIC, PROTECTED or PRIVATE sec"
Error in ABAP application program.
The current ABAP program "CL_SWF_RUN_WIM_FACTORY========CP" had to be
terminated because one of the
statements could not be executed.
This is probably due to an error in the ABAP program.

This class CL_SWF_RUN_WIM_LOCAL is essential in tRFC to Execute the workflow.
The class would have affected.
1) Check any User exit or Badi used related to this Class, if so Deactivate those and check.
2) Then Still you getting the dump, check for note corrections.

Hi Kumar,
Profitability segments are used to analyze contribution margins earned out of customer/customer segments. Here COGS is deducted from revenue to get the margin.
If you want depreciation to be picked up in profitability segment..It has to be picked up through COGS. To do this the depreciation has to be first posted to the cost center involved..which I think you must already have because of cost center assignment to assets. Later from the cost center you got to move the depreciation to production orders through activity or OH allocation, so that the asset depreciation gets picked up in COGS. After this COGS takes care of flow to COPA

you will find the depreciation calculated for which period and document number from TABA Table.
go to SE16
enter TABA and execute
than provide company code and year than execute to see the result.

Block assets for depreciation run

Hi everyone,
Is there a way to put a hold on few assets in a company code from running depreciation, meaning I want the depreciation posting program (AFAB) to skip the selected assets (assets of my choice) for the current periods depreciation run? However, system should calculate depreciation for rest assets in that company. Please advice! Will surely award points for all your help

I really appreciate your advice! But, is there anything else I can do to block the assets for depreciation other than checking the indicator Shut down? Because for the assets of my interest the field Shut down is suppressed in the screen layout rules. Please advice!

It would be helpful if you could tell what type of dump it is.
If it is a timeout you should check whether l_t_backorder_item is empty - in this case ALL document numbers are selected. f you get the timeout with a populated table consider converting the l_t_backorder_item table into one ore more ranges tables - the select with ranges tables is way quicker than 'for all entries'. But take care the ranges table has not to many entries - the SAP SQL converter puts this into one huge SQL statement and this might become too big to be handled by the database (depends on the actual underlying database).
I would also consider splitting the SELECT into two (2nd one with 'appending into table') to make the code easier to understand It also helps the database system determining a strategy for the select.

Reg vdbench iorate is getting decreased for every run

I am running the below parameter file to test a zfs volume(4TB).
sd=sd1,lun=/dev/zvol/rdsk/storage0/lu2,thread=16

rd=run1,wd=wd1,iorate=max,elapsed=60,interval=1
My understanding is that
It performs 4K, 100% write, 100% random for 60 sec with max iorate possible. Please confirm.
When I repeat the same test, the IOPS values are going down. What could be the reason?
Also what is the kind of write IO Pattern it uses -Is it full random IO, pseudo random IO or Repeating bytes?.How to configure these values. Please let me know.

That is a difficult question to give a straight answer to. With storage subsystems having terabytes of RAM and multiple terabytes of SSD the only way to determine steady state is to just run it and see what happens. That is why the detailed second-by-second reporting done by Vdbench is so important. Once you know how long the warmup takes, you can use the warmup= parameter,

Depreciation Run executed for a period but no posting found

Dear Experts,
I have checked a few of the FA in the Fixed Asset Master, and confirmed that they have not been depreciation run yet for period "2009-02". My current period is set to "2009-02" as well.
But when I tried to run depreciation run for "2009-02", I always get no posting.
What could have cause this problem?

Hi Chinho,
1, please make sure there is APC value for the asset. Means:
acquisition was created for the asset. You can check it from FA master data->document tab
Or the asset was imported into system with a APC value.
2, If the acquisition/import was done before current fiscal year, please make sure 'fiscal year change' to current fiscal year was done.

How can I get heap dump for 1.4.2_11 when OutOfMemory Occured

Hi guys,
How can I get heap dump for 1.4.2_11 when OutOfMemory Occured, since it has no options like: -XX:+HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError and -XX:+HeapDumpOnCtrlBreak
We are running Webloic 8.1 SP3 applications using this Sun 1.4.2_11 JVM and it's throwing out OutOfMemory, but we can not find a heap dump. The application is running as a service in Windows Server 2003. How can I do some more analysis on this issue.

The HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError option was added to 1.4.2 in update 12. Further work to support all collectors was done in update 15.

Depreciation Run for closed fiscal year

Hi All,
We bought some assets on 2005 through direct purchase and these assets are in under operation, but not having the asset master record in the SAP system.
Now we have decided to bring these assets into the system as the capitalised date is 10 Nov 2005 and for this purpose, we had created the asset master record and applied the t.code: ABNAN to post the values to these assets.
<b>"My concern is about how to provide the depreciation run to these assets for the closed fiscal year from 2005 to until Nov 2007.The present closed period in the production system is 2006".</b>

Just give the dep start date as 10 Nov 2005 and run the dep for the current posting period the depreciation will get posted for the year 2005 and upto the current period,in the current posting period.
As the past reriods are all closed you cannot post dep in the year 2005.
You will have the whole dep for that particular asset posted in the current posting period.

Depreciation run for legacy assets

Hello,
This is the first depreciation run in SAP for the month of April 2007.
System is posting depreciation for those assets procured during the year i.e purchased in April but not posting for legacy assets i.e assets uploaded from legacy.

Our Fiscal year is betyween April and March. Depreciation for legacy assets has been uploaded till the month of March 2007.Planned depreciation is getting displayed in the asset explorer under Fiscal year start column.

Depreciation run for Previous Year

Hi all,
I am trying to run depreciation for the previous year 2009.
I tried the following:
On AFAB I gave the year as 2009 and the period as 01, and checked the planned depreciation check box.
Got an the following error:
'Only an unplanned posting run is possible in this fiscal year'
Then I selected unplanned run and ran the depreciation, still it was getting the another error
saying you can only post to period 12.
Then I changed the period to 12 and ran it and was able to run the depreciation fine.
But now I want to run for the other periods say period 10 and period 11. and now I am getting the following error.
' Period 010 is already Posted'
does that mean that we cannot run a depreciation run for a earlier period, if the latest
period is already run??
If not how can I run it for the other periods 10 and 11??

Hi,
You can only run depreciation for the 12th period only.
Once 12th period's planned depreciation run was performed, then it is not possible to run any kind of depreciation with an earlier period number.
But you can run the 12th period again in repeat mode, in case you have posted any back dated entries after the 12 period'a planned run with an asset values date, which falls before 12th period.

How to repeat depreciation run for fixed assets

Dear Sir(s),
we are on SAP B PL03. We would like to re-run depreciation for some fixed assets to correct a previous depreciation run which was executed by mistake. The depreciation was posted to the GL accounts.
We are not able to get this option of re-running the depreciation even after changing the depreciation types of these fixed assets in the fixed asset master data. The depreciation run screen just displays a list of all previous depreciation runs.

Hi Asif,
The last depreciation you have run showing you in depreciation window,that depreciation you executed by mistake van remove by right click on that depreciation row and remove that row. Doing this your financial posting will be reverse then you can execute depreciation for the same period.
