Getting electric shock while charging my i touch

hi
i am getting electric shock while charging my itouch

Also, do yo get it when charging with a wall charger?
A computer USB port?
Could be a problem with the cable (as mentioned by kylewont) or the charging source or the iPod.
An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store maybe in order.

Hi I am getting electric shock while charging my iPhone 4

You may have a short in the USB cable or charger, try a different cable if you can. I shocked myself on a frayed iPhone cable and switching it obviously fixed the problem

  • Get Electric Shock While I Touch My PowerBook

I always get electric shock while I touched my powerbook.
Although it is a minor shocks, but it happens frequently.
    I go crazy about that.
My parents touch me while I am using it,
they can feel that there is current flow into my body.
They tell me that it is harmful to me.
I bought it with applecare, and it is still under warranty.
I need some expertise advise on how should I deal with my PowerBook.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I've found this is most common a problem if you don't use the grounding outlet that came with your power cord. That means you need to use a three prong connector to the wall, instead of a two.
The next most common issue is if you walk across a carpet or wet floor, you will pick up static electricity. It is a good idea to discharge your static electricity before touching the computer by touching a desk or other object connected to the floor.
One time I walked across a wet carpet because of a flood, touched a computer keyboard, and fried the computer with my static electricity.

  • Ipod touch giving electric shocks while charging

While charging the Ipod touch 4g i am receiving a small current behind the back of the ipod touch. Its been a yeasr or so that i have this device and it started a few days ago to give electirc shock..
I am little worried about the ipod touch getting spoiled. please suggest for the necessary precaution..

Take it (and the cable you use to charge it) to the Genius Bar at your nearest Apple store.  Have them evaluate it, and they can let you know what your options/costs may be for repair or replacement.

  • Feeling electric shock while charging Mac book Pro

    Hai everyone!
i just bought a Mac bookPro 15 inch 2.53 Ghz.
i am feeling a mild tingling/ vibrating shock while charging my mac book pro. i can feel the sensation all over the aluminium unibody part- especially while using the Mac book as well as charging it at the same time. is it Earthing/ grounding problem? or is it any voltage problem? or is it any problem with my Mac Book Pro?
    Thanks and Regards

"I bought my laptop from the US, but i am using it in Spain , with the aid of a plug converter (3 pong to 2 European one)...
"1) is this problem i am experiencing due to the plug converter?"
Yes and no. Outside of the US, the AC line voltage is twice as high, and that's why people outside of the US generally experience the "shock". If you use a 3-prong plug adapter inserted in a properly-grounded AC outlet, the problem will be resolved.
"2) I am staying in student resident, and so i doubt that the MBP is not properly grounded.. That would be dangerous, no??"
If you are using a 2-prong prong adapter, your unit is not properly grounded. Using an improperly grounded computer is not dangerous.
"3) Aside from being extremely annoying sensation, is it bad for the laptop??"
    No.
"Because if not, i can always use another keyboard.."
You mean, "if it IS" a problem , you can use another keyboard. Using another keyboard is does not change the grouping scheme of the computer.
"I am not saying whose fault this is, but i only felt this shock with the mac book pro (15 inch).. i owned a power book and a 13 in mac book, and never felt a shock like this before... Could it be because of the placement of the battery on the laptop?"
No, it's because you're using a metal-cased computer, at a high AC input voltage.

  • Satellite Z830-10 - electric shock while charging

I've recently bought a Toshiba Satellite Z830-10 from PC World UK. I'm experience constant electric shock when my wrist touch the laptop body while charging with the adaptor. No problem when it is on battery.
    Does anyone having similar problem?
After some research on the internet, there are some report about laptop with metallic casing when the manufacturer supply with 2 pin plug which does not have earthing.
Other company have replaced their problematic laptop with 3 pin plugs for all their customer. My adaptor is indeed with 2 pin plug.
Could the shock by lack of earthing in this case similar to Dell problem?

    Hi
I would really recommend contacting the Toshiba authorized service partner in your country to check the parts and to fix this issue.
A friend of mine is an Z830 owner but as far as I know he did not experience any similar issue.

  • Current leakage/electric shock while charging

I just own the Macbook Pro Retina Display for a few days and everytime I'm trying to charge it with the supplied charger, the metal casing has feel of electrical shock! I encountered this at all location regardless of power sources, from various countries  in hotel and at home.
If I use the power plug adapter that has 3 pins adapter with extension cable, it will eliminate the problem as it has ground contact on the adapter. However, the 3 pins or 2 pins adapter that direct attach to the power adapter without extension cable does not come with ground contact. I would not want to bring the extension cable everywhere.
I approached Genius Bar but was told that it is normal. I couldn't accept the answer as this "normal" condition is greatly impacting Apple product user experience! I'm ok if Apple could replace my 3 pins adapter with a grounded pin and stay with the problem with 2 pins but not asking me to accept the fact that "it is like that, we can't do anything" or a defective product.

    Hi Casper-Tech
I am also the owner of the new retina display macbook pro and just few days after the purchase, i realised that it passes me electricity shock whenever I glide my fingers on the aluminium chasis body, especially the metal next to where we plug in out power (below the screen).
This happens when I use the 3 pin plug directly to the magsafe 2 whilts this problem is gone when I use the extension cable.
I have contacted Apple Care and they also said that this EXTREMELY WEIRD phenomenon is normal with the 3 pin plug as there is no grounding on the plug while the extension cable does have it.
I also realised that there is a difference between the 3 pin plug and extension cable, the latter has 0.5 A less fuse compared to the extension cable. Maybe this has caused the leakage of the electric current.
Meanwhile, I just intend to bring the machine and the plug to Apple Service Centre to have it look at and check whether there is a damage on my macbook pro.
If you feel unsatisfied/uncomfortable with this issue, you can get yourself a 3 pin plug with higher fuse rating or you can ask for a refund. That was what the Genius Bar suggested me.
Cheers. I bet there are many people with this problem but they just don't realise it yet.

  • Electric Shock while charging IPad

    hello
anybody having the same problem as me when i charge my Ipad from the wall socket and touch the back of the ipad i get an electric shock like when you get a shock from a nine volt battery is this normal or should i go to the apple shop near me

Any class II (double insulated) device has a maximum allowed leakage current of 250uA and any class I (earthed) device has a maximum permitted leakage current of 3500uA. I measud my iPad charger and found about 30uA leakage.
The general level of perception to electric current is about 500uA, but some can perceive lower currents. When a class II device is first touched there can be a larger current flowing for a short period (due to capacitive charge effects) but again these are limited to safe levels by the device safety standards (normally IEC 60950 series).
No certified device on the open market will exceed these safe levels and normally will be well under the limits ( e.g a typical class II device will be about 120uA and a class I device about 1000uA).
In countries with poor electrical supplies there is a bigger chance of of a fault with the wiring or installation causing a hazard than the class II charger of any Apple product.

  • Electric shock while charging IPod Nano 3rd Gen

    Hello.
I bought a new IPod Nano 3rd Generation (4 gigabytes) and I noticed that, if I touch it while it's connected to my PC, it gives me an electrical shock. It's not a hard shock, but you can feel your finger shake and your arm weakens (it's kinda funny. xD)
To experience this, you mustn't have shoes, obviously.
I'd like to know if this is natural or if I should change it for a new one.
I believe it's something bad because the IPod runs out of battery quickly, but I play Solitaire a lot, so I don't know if it's my fault. :s
Thanks, in advance, for your answer.
    Pedro Tomé

BTW this same problem came up back in August and then I suggested to the poster that a bad line cord might be the issue. Turns out that is exactly what it was...

  • Electric shocks while charging?

When my touch is charging off a wall charger (non-apple), when I touch the metal, it seems to hum/vibrate and if I happen to touch some metal, such as the edge of my computer, I get a painful tingling at the contact point. Like needles in my skin.
Is this a an issue with the ipod or should I get a different charger (It's brand new)?
Does it have to be an apple one? (they're really expensive)
The charger doesn't have a grounding pin.

Does the Touch do that when you connect it to your computer using the supplied USB cable? If not, I'd guess it's the charger. You might also try connecting it to a different outlet if you have not already done so.
I use a non-Apple brand charger (iGo) to charge my Touch at work and I don't have this problem. So, it's certainly possible to us other brands of chargers successfully.
    Best of luck.

This is a user forum and is not Apple.  I would definitely recommend that you stop using your iPhone and take it to be checked.

  • I keep getting electric shocks from my macbook pro?

I bought it in 2011, and for the last year or so it has been giving me electric shocks when charging. I can feel it on my wrists when im typing, and any contact with the lower part of the mac. It can be quite painful and I've stopped using it whilst its charging. It doesn't matter what plug I'm using or what address, I still get it.
It is out of warranty, but I am really not happy that it's doing this. Shall I take it into apple and speak to them about it?

You certainly can and if it is a genius bar at an Apple store, the diagnosis will be free.  Do not discount the possibility that the electrical system you are connecting to may be the problem.
    Ciao.

Basics from the User Guide are restart, reset, restore.  Try each of these.  If they don't work, bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.
