Getting Error -9672 on installing Canoan IP4300 Printer / Bonjour

Printer is connected to a ReadyNas NV+ server via USB and is provided to the Mac via Bonjour.
I can easily create a new printer, Mac OS even finds the printer driver - "Canon IJ Printer". But as soon I try to confirm it, I get the eroor "Beim Hinzufügen des ausgewählten Druckers ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. Fehler: -9672"
This translates to something like "Error on adding new Printer. Error: -9672"
If I choose by hand the driver "Canon PIXMA iP4300 - Gutenprint v5.1.3" I'm abel to install the printer and use it for printing - BUT the quality of the printout is very miserable. If I print an image, it is almost complete black, its much, much to dark.
In the Consol Log Files the following error shows up:

What's the problem here? Why cant the printer driver not be installed? Gutenprint drivers seems not a usabel replacement for the original Canon IJ Printer drivers.

True again. You cannot use the Canon supplied drivers for network connections, other than Mac to Mac printer sharing or Airport connections.
Apple says Printer IP4300 is compatibel to Leopard
It is compatible, when connected directly to the Mac via USB or using Mac to Mac printer sharing or when connected via an Airport base station.
What I do not understand is, if I try to install the printer, the correct BJ Printer driver is selected automatically by the printer system settings - so the printer is detected correctly - the system chooses the BJ driver, not I'm doing this. But if I click OK, I get the error.
This does happen. The Canon printer driver is not designed to work with your setup, hence the error.
I do not know if it's Apples or Canons fault, but fact is, the printer is detected correctly an the correct driver is suggested by the system but can not be installed.
Yes, and this is due to the way Canon has designed the driver software so I believe it is Canon at fault. Note that they have some models of printer/driver that do work with your type of connection. But for your iP4300, the driver does not configure correctly after detecting the printer.
I also tried all the tips I found and you gave me too, deleting printer folder and reinstall latest driver from Canon, but with no luck at all. This is really annoing, and as much as I like my Mac (I'm a "switcher" I did not expect so simple stupid problems.
I understand your frustration. If Canon and other vendors put as much effort into writing their Mac drivers as well as they do for Windows, then using a Mac would be more enjoyable. There has been so many times when I have found a function that the Windows driver provides that does not exist with Mac. I would like to think it has nothing to do with Mac having such a small market share of the PC world, but you have to wonder?

I seem to be getting an error -9672 when trying to add my HP PSC 1410 wirelessly to my airport network. I've tried on my intel iMac and my mac book but I'm getting the same error. Any suggestions on how to solve this?

Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations. A quick look at the iFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility List doesn't show this particular model. This doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. Perform a "hard reset" on the device by pressing down and holding the home button and the sleep/wake button for up to 30secs. until you see a black screen with the Apple logo, then release.

Error - 9672 when installing printer to Airport Express

Hey all, now i have done some research on this before asking for help. It seems that when installing my HP 1350 All in One printer to my Airport Express i get this error 9672.
now i did find this link

but its not for the same printer and i am not runing 10.3 as i have all the latest drivers from the HP site, all my software is updated including my os currently runing at 10.4.6
When i go to the printer set up utility, i am able to see the 1350, just cannot add it without geting this error. Any help is appreciated.

Getting an Error:-9672 when trying to add printer through airport express

Hi everyone, I have a canon colour laser printer (LBP5000) works fine when I pop the usb straight in to the mac, but when I try setting it up by plugging the usb into my airport express I get an Error:-9672 this happens when setting up the printer in print & fax system prefs.
I have another printer set up on a different airport express, which works fine.... could this be a problem?

Hello Lee,
When you select the LBP5000 in the Printer Borwser > Default Browser view, the Print Using menu should automatically set. If it isn't, and you are having to manually set the printer, then that will be a likely cause for the error (which usually occurs when the wrong driver is selected).
Try turning off the Airport Express and the printer. After a few seconds turn the printer on first and after it finishes making it's warm up sounds, turn on the Express. Now try to add the printer via the Default Browser view.
If that doesn't help, check your Airport Express firmware version. Some previous postees have found that their problems are resolved by updating their firmware on their Airport Extreme/Express.

Trying to add Canon MP500 printer via Bonjour; get Error -9672

I have my Airport Express hooked up to my Canon MP500 printer. My computer recognizes the Airport Express. I go to Print & Fax in System Preferences and try and add the printer via Bonjour - it stalls and then displays Error -9672. I have had this printer hooked up successfully before. Any suggestions? Reset the device when it is not functioning properly.
If the device is not functioning properly or to clear memory, reset it.
On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)
Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.
Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.
A number of site online mention problems with different brand printers on intel macs. Some have correcedt the problem by downloading an older driver that that which came with the computer.

Get error when trying to set up printing for new laptop

I have an HP laptop that is currently using windows XP and I was able to get that computer to connect wirelessly to the printer that is physically connected
to that desktop (HP deskjet 5550printer) computer. Now I recently purchased two Toshiba laptops that are running with Vista on them and cannot get them to print when I'm prompted to print a test page. Is it possible that the vista driver is not compatible with the xp driver that is on the DESKTOP computer?
I do get errors that say the wrong driver is installed.

Yes XP drivers are not compatible with Vista you need to install software for both the Computers.

Error -9672 while trying to add printer

I had a printer connected via USB directly to my iMac 20 (OSX 10.4.11) that was working fine.
This morning, I moved the USB connection from the iMac 20 to the Airport base station so I could access and use the printer wirelessly from a MacBook Pro (OSX 10.5.6). The MacBook Pro sees and can send print jobs to the printer.
The iMac 20 can also see the printer It shows up in the Printer Browser list (with Bonjour as the Connection), but when I try to add it to the printer list in Print & Fax, I get "An error occurred while trying to add the selected printer. Error: -9672"
I can't get a clear explanation of what the error is, and all Apple support articles on getting things corrected have been unsuccessful.
I've tried everything I can think of...anyone got any ideas of what's going on here?

Every time I try to add this Canon Image Prograf iPF700, I get the message Error-9672.
In the Console it says:

I have a number of macs I'm administrating, and some are 10.4.9, some are 10.4.8 - some of them can print using an older driver, but when I take the printer off the list and try to re-add it, I get this error. It doesn't seem to matter which operating system I'm using (8 or 9.) The firmware has been updated on the printer. I have tried using an updated driver. Nothing seems to work. I'm afraid to take the printer off the few macs that can still print to it. I've tried everything!
Does ANYONE know/ think they know whether this is a Printer Setup Utility problem, or a Canon driver/ firmware issue? It's very hard to find anything anywhere about this particular error number.

I'm having the same problem with my Epson R380. I'm running OS 10.4.9 and I've tried both directly connecting to my PowerBook G4 through usb as well as my airport extreme and get that annoying (error: -9672). The printer shows up in the list but clicking add brings up that error. I've used the driver from the CD that came with the printer as well as downloading the driver from the website with the same results. I've also tried the Printer Repair Service thing from fixitmac.com and had no luck. Has anyone ever actually fixed this error? I've been searching the internet like crazy to try and find a fix, but there doesn't seem to be one.
I've also email epson about it and hopefully they will have an answer, but who knows how long that will take.
Any other solution ideas to try??

Keep getting error message while instaling software updates

i just receive my imac from apple store after they fix my HDD , my imac is using version 10.6.8 and have 2.66 GHz intel core i5 prossesor also have memory 12 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 , i had problem before with my imac and i sent it to apple store to fix it , after they fix it ( they said) i wont have any problem anymore with my imac , and when i try it at home, i used migration assistant to get back my old data to my fixed imac, and now everytime i try to update my imac from software update on apple icon, they can downloading the updates but when i click instal and restart my imac can not installing the updates, keep getting error instaling update on my imac.
anyone can help me with this?

Copy or drag – do not type – the line below into the window, then press return.

You can then quit Terminal.
