Getting error in TNS connection from Oracle hosted on LINUX machine
Hello,
We moved our databases from Solaris to Linux servers. I am running one multithreaded process which creates a pool of db connection which are shared by threads. On moving to Linx db I am getting below error message
[SERVERERROR] ORA-12520: TNS:listener could not find available handler for requested type of server
My first port of call to resolve this error was to check TNS_ADMIN and tnsnames.ora but they are fine and then I checked DB in db some of threads got connected and did insert data error usually occured when thread release control of connection and another thread picks up.
Later I changed configuration to run only one single thread and then it works fine without any error. I also tried running same process with configured to create one thread from two different sessions and then one session got this error but other continued.
Here is sqlnet.log file generated

Getting Error trying to connect to Oracle 9i
Dear Folks,
I have developed a JSP based site which is running on Oracle 9i App Server and using Oracle 9i as Database. But whenever a program tries to access the Database, It is giving the following error:
SQLException
Connection refused(DESCRIPTION=(TMP=)(VSNNUM=150999297)(ERR=12505)(ERROR_STACK=(ERROR=(CODE=12505)(EMFI=4))))
Could anyone tell me any solution for this error? I believe this is the result of a configuration problem. If so what is the problem. I need to solve this immediately. Please Help.
You may email me at [email protected]Connection refused Error may be thrown if your DB is out of resources. Please check the following.
1. How many active connections do you have?
2. What is the size of the MAX_CONNECTIONS parameter in the DB?
3. Is there any more authentication process involved which fails to return you proper credentials and hence refusing connection?
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned
Hi All,
My database is in 10.2.0.4 and has a dblink to sqlserver. The dblink works fine for normal queries.
However when executing the following query from my oracle database
SELECT ROWNUM, "ad2_id", my_name, "data"
FROM "abc"@xyz.com
WHERE "startDateTime" > (TO_DATE ('20100120', 'YYYYMMDD') - 1)
AND "startDateTime" < TO_DATE ('20100120', 'YYYYMMDD')
AND ROWNUM < 101
I am getting the following error
Note : Line 8 is "startDateTime" > (TO_DATE ('20100120', 'YYYYMMDD') - 1)
ERROR at line 8:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
ORA-02063: preceding line from xyz
Note:
1.data is of datatype VARCHARN(1000) and if we ignore that field I am able to get the output
2. If I give the StartDateTime to a value without using to_date I am able to get the output.
Could you please tell me what could be the problem ?
Thanks in advance.user12061473 wrote:

The problem as far as I am know is if I try to select data and use both the where clauses I am getting the error.
Which is

I have looked up the errors on Oracle forums and could not get any valuable help anywhere.
Can someone kindly help out where I am going wrong?
Thanks,
Ram.Hello kgronau,
Thank You very much for your recommendations. I removed the parameter HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = 255.
I added HS_FDS_FETCH_ROWS=1 and also HS_NLS_NCHAR = UCS2
Tested my sql statement, which yielded the result as follows:
SQL> select * from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink;
select * from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
㈵″㠵6
SO I thought I would give a try of removing the line HS_NLS_NCHAR = UCS2
and again tested my sql statement and it worked like a charm!!!!
I tested a count(*) and got the results back.
SQL> select count(*) from mdiaz.AREMAIL@samplink;
COUNT(*)
600
I really appreciate your valuable pointers and help.
Thanks once again!!!

Starting Oracle 11gr2 Im getting Error: ORA-03135: connection lost contact
Hi Guys!
Thanks for your advises. I still working toward a resolution.
But I encountered another issue from Enterp Manager :
ERROR : Please correct the following error: Connection string must be specified.
My connection has this format:
//using connection string attributes to connect to Oracle Database
con.ConnectionString = "User Id=scott;Password=tiger;Data Source=oracle";
con.Open();
Console.WriteLine("Connected to Oracle" + con.ServerVersion);
Please tell me what is wrong here. Thanks. Dan.

Please check Oracle support id : Troubleshooting ORA-3135 Connection Lost Contact (Doc ID 787354.1) -
Error "421 #4.4.5 Too many connections from your host"
We have deployed a Java application using JavaMail which enables people to send email to their contact lists. It has been in use for a few years, various updates being applied over that time. Most of our customers have no problem. But a couple of weeks ago, two of them suddenly could no longer send emails.
The connection to the SMTP server works but when the application sends email, it gets an error 421. A debugging dump is reproduced below: the target email address is changed to protect the uninvolved; messages starting with **** come from my program, other come from JavaMail.
Can anyone solve this problem? suggest where to look? Thanks.

At any rate it is something you should discuss with the manager of that server.

Editing any user profile, when I try to save the change I get the error: no existing connection from which credentials can be copied. It will not let me get out of the screen. I have to close the Server App to get out. Any suggestions?
This is also being disucssed somewhere else https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5486117. I have the same problem, sorry i can't help.

I am very much confused with this situation.

Salih KmHi ,
Thanks for your reply.
Contents of my initMYSQLSERVERDSN.ora file is

# needed for an ODBC Agent.
# HS init parameters
HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = MYSQLSERVERDSN

set ODBCINI=c:\WINDOWS\ODBC.INI
SALIHKM.DOMAIN.COM is my system in which Oracle Test DB is Installed.
SQL Server is in another location.
In Tnsnames i specified ip address.
One more doubt.
I am using 10g Release 2 demo version.
whether it will support Hetrogeneous Services?
How to know whether a database supports HS or not?
Thanks & Regards

Using Oracle Generic Connectivity to connect from Oracle to Microsoft Acces
I am trying to connect from Oracle to Access using ODBC. I followed the steps described in oracle documentation but was not sucessful. Could you plase take a look at my code let me know where I went wrong. It is as follows :
1)Created an ODBC connection for Microsoft Access called 'MSACCESS' (System DSN). And associated accdb1.mdb to this ODBC connection.
2)Created a table called orders in accdb1.mdb.
3)Added the foll lines in tnsnames.ora
accdb1 =
(DESCRIPTION=
(ADDRESS=
(PROTOCOL=tcp)
(HOST=kdandapani.170systems.com)
(PORT=1521))
(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=accdb1)
(HS=OK)
4)added the following lines in listner.ora :
SID_LIST_LISTENER =
(SID_LIST =
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME=accdb1)
(ORACLE_HOME=c:\orasrv)
(PROGRAM=accdb1)
5) Copied inithsodbc.ora to iniths_accdb1.ora in the ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin directory. Added the following line there :
HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = MSACCESS
6)Created the foll dblink :
create database link access1
using 'accdb1';
7)tried to access table ORDERS in the MSACCESS database with the foll SQL -
select * from orders@access1;
Resulted in the foll error message
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service namehi,
I am new to Generic Connectivity i have just followed all the steps you wrote once in this forum but i m getting the following error :
SQL> SELECT * FROM LOGIN@MSACCESS;
SELECT * FROM LOGIN@MSACCESS
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-28509: unable to establish a connection to non-Oracle system
ORA-02063: preceding line from MSACCESS
Following are the steps you suggested in this forum :
1)Created an ODBC connection for Microsoft Access called 'MSACCESS'. And associated accdb1.mdb to this ODBC connection.
2)Created a table called ORDERS in accdb1.mdb.
3)Added the foll lines in tnsnames.ora
MSACCESS.170SYSTEMS.COM =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = kdandapani.170systems.com)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = MSACCESS)
(HS = OK)
4)This is how the listner.ora looks after I added SID_NAME=MSACCESS :
# LISTENER.ORA Network Configuration File: c:\orasrv\NETWORK\ADMIN\listener.ora
# Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
LISTENER =
(DESCRIPTION_LIST =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC2))
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = kdandapani)(PORT = 1521))
SID_LIST_LISTENER =
(SID_LIST =
(SID_DESC =
(GLOBAL_DBNAME = ORALOCAL)
(ORACLE_HOME = c:\orasrv)
(SID_NAME = ORALOCAL)
(SID_DESC =
(PROGRAM = extproc)
(SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
(ORACLE_HOME = c:\orasrv)
(SID_DESC =
(PROGRAM = hsodbc)
(SID_NAME = MSACCESS)
(ORACLE_HOME = c:\orasrv)
5) Copied inithsodbc.ora to iniths_MSACCESS.ora in the ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin directory. Added the following line there :
HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = MSACCESS
6)Created the foll dblink :
create database link MSACCESS
using 'MSACCESS';
7)tried to access table ORDERS in the MSACCESS database with the foll SQL -
select * from orders@MSACCESS;
I have used my login table instead of orders. But i got an error that i have stated earlier.
Can you please help me ? if possible than please forward your reply to : [email protected]

Scenario:
I am having difficulty getting ODBC connection between Oracle OWB app with an 11gR2 DB (running on a VirtualBox Linux) and SQL Server 2008 running directly on the host. (Windows 8)
I am trying to take a SQL Server 2008 feed into Oracle Ware house Builder, and think(!) I have read everything and configured it in accordance (but I presume not given 3 days of failed attempts to fix it). I have also read several blogs, hence there might be a few more settings in the configuration files than the formal documentation says, but these have come from blogs that have “Solved” problems for other similar situations.

Rafe.Let us rewrite your ODBC DSN a little bit... Your current odbc.ini looks like:
[ACME_POS]
Driver = FreeTDS
Description = ODBC Connection via FreeTDS
Trace = 1
Servername = 192.168.1.80
Database = dbo
Let us change it a little bit so that we only need one config file - no odbcinst.ini nor freetds.conf file anymore:
[ACME_POS]
Driver =/usr/local/lib/libtdsodbc.so
Server = 192.168.1.80
Database
= dbo #### I have some doubts that you have a SQL Server database called dbo - one database that always exists is master - so as a test use master here or get the real database name of the SQL Server database you want to connect
Port = 60801 ## make sure it really is the correct port - best would be to check on the SQL server and then try telnet <ip> <port> if you can connect to the SQL server
TDS_Version = 8.0
QuotedId=YES
Especially the last 2 parameters are mandatory. TDS_Version specifies the TDS Version you have to use to connect to the SQL Server and QuotedID is required for DG4ODBC as it surrounds objevt names by double quotes.
What happens now when you try to connect with for example isql - the ODBC test utility shipped with the ODBC Driver manager?
In addition, could you please do me another favour and check the word size of DG4ODBC and the ODBC Driver Manager as well as the ODBC Driver - just execute:
file /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/bin/dg4odbc
file /usr/local/lib/libtdsodbc.so
file < the patch to your libodbc.so library>/libodbc.so
and post the output. -

There is a typo in the name of you gateway init file. You posted the content of inithMYSQL.ora but the naming is init<SID>.ora which is in your case initMYSQL.ora.
In addition please keep in mind HSODBC has been desupported since 2008 and when starting a new configuration you should use the follow up product dg4odbc (Database Gateway for ODBC) V11. -
