Getting hold of emails

We changed an hour ago from BTYahoo to BT Total Broadband. Everything is working but we have lost the old emails, folders etc. . When we phoned up for the Broadband I was told that we should be able to receive emails send to our old address. Tried to phone support but it's quite hopeless. Has anybody experienced the same problem and has any ideas. Thanks in advance.

What should have happened when we placed the order to change you over to BT Total Broadband is that your email address should have been included in the order so it can be transferred over.
It may be that this didn't happen, so if you want drop me an email with your details at [email protected] and I'll see about getting this sorted for you.

Hi. I checked on the order and it says the order is currently being processed and I should check back tomorrow. I'm mostly just concerned because I got an email saying the order was on hold, and I want to make sure it actually does go through and I'm not just waiting for a delivery that's not going to come. Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

CLose the mail app completely and reset your iPad. No data will be lost.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Getting hold of hidden folder on defective drive

I'm in a quite desparate situation – my MacBook Pro 15" had crash with InDesign with a subsequent bad restart, and ended up not beeing able to complete a reboot at all. It goes through the restart process until a pale white progress bar goes 8% of the way, then everything shuts down.
I can't reinstall the system, and disk utility can't help me at all. So I'm apparently stuck with the sole option to retrieve data via a firewire transport setup.
Now my problem is, that one of the really important folders that I need to retrieve, is that of my email-app Postbox. It is supposed to reside in the library/application support folder, but I can't see it. I have tried to copy the entire application support folder, but I get an error message saying that I do not have sufficient access privileges to perform the task.
The disk appears to be difficult to modify (fix privileges and so on).
Does anyone have an idea for a solution? I'd really like to get hold of my Postbox email folder !

just use an app that will make all invisible files visible and locate and copy that folder. Once done you can make the files invisible again. Be sure not to move or delete any files other than the folder you're interested in.

Who is the email account provider?
With an Apple iCloud account, there is a preference setting with the account settings on the iPhone to archive messages - save deleted messages in your Archive folder.
I believe the same is available with a Gmail account.

You can't.

Printing to a Windows shared printer, keep getting "Hold for Authentication" when I'm on the Windows shared network and can browse the computers.

I have had two MacBook Pros now, and this has been an issue in Mountain Lion and Mavericks. I've got a shared printer on the local Windows network (it's a USB printer shared via the network and the computer), and the other Windows computers in the house can print to it no problem. The Mac sees it no problem, yet whenever I try to print to it, I just get "Hold for Authentication."
Like I said, persists over Mountain Lion and Mavericks. No other computer in the house has any issues printing to it. I've installed the drivers for the printer as well (Brother HL-2240).
I've tried to follow the instructions here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23268762#23268762 but the printer isn't listed in Keychain Access.
Any thoughts?

Well, that isn't too useful. Try this instead: Adding a printer shared by a Windows computer via SMB/CIFS.
You may find more by selecting Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and searching for articles by keyword.

Ask Google... they locked you out of the email account.
