I finally solved my inability to use iChat AV with AIM on my iMac with Tiger...but now am having this AOL issue with refused connection in Leopard and iChat 3...

What does this mean? I have been trying lots of things but nothing is working. When ever I click ichat this is the first thing it says "Host refused connection, try again later"

What router do you have ?
It is normally done by typing into a web browser at the URL bar the IP that the router shows to your Mac.
It often includes a User ID and Password to be entered into a pop up that come s next.

Clicking on your device and then iChat in the next page will take you to a page that will tell you the defaults for your device.
The last page will also go on to tell you how to do Port Forwarding
We don't suggest using this as a first choice. We suggesting looking for and set UPnP if you Device has it.

Aim host refuses connection

As soon as I restarted after latest security update, aim and ichat no longer connect. the aim host refuses connection. Any thoughts?

It's very strange that you should mention this problem, as I have had the exact same one only recently.
However my problem seems to be architecture independent and not dependent upon the OS version 10.4.7 or 10.4.8 that I'm using. Both my G4 PowerBook and my Intel Mac Pro are exhibiting the same inability to connect to AIM via Adium or iChat but randomly and infrequently. AOL's antiquated IM client still works, strangely enough.
Perhaps my problem is a different one, but my proposal is that yours could be related.
No firewall running on my system, though I suspect that my ISP or router (router less likely) have something to do with this funny little problem. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Reboot your computer. Temporarily disable any security software, i.e. firewall, anti-virus, anti-malware, etc.

Host Refused Connection

Over the last week, I haven't been able to log onto iChat on my home internet. Every time I try to, I get the message "The host refused the connection, please try again later"
I've tried 3-4 times a day, and read over the forums here which told me to change the port from 5190 to 443 which I did and it didn't change anything, I still can't log on.
They weird part is, is that if i go to my school, and log on with their wireless, it works perfectly!
I've been using meebo in the mean time but would really like to know how to fix this!

Welcome to the  Discussions
In System Preferences > Network you can use the Locations tab to create settings that are different in different places.
You may find that at Present the Advanced Button > DNS Tab has no permanent DNS servers listed (Dark text) and is showing ones greyed out that it can read from the router/modem.
It can help if the DNS servers are relevant to the Internet Connection you have.
It should not however show you the School ones when you are connected at home or vice versa. (Unless you entered them yourself)
If you did have to Enter the School's one it may pay to set up two "Locations" and have the different DNS servers listed.

Does anyone know how I would be able to get the host name
and port number from an application launched by java webstart ?
This is the host and port of the URL that this application is launched from.

A couple of suggestions:
-The note is about 6.40. Doesn't fit for your server
-Don't!
-Reinstall!

Is it possible to get back to the Try block from a Catch block?

I would like to perform validations on a config file. To do so, I have a method which will throw a MissingConfigException or an InvalidConfigException if something is missing or if something doesn't match a regex pattern. Although I have to do that with many different configs and I would like to go through all of them so that my error message will report all missing / incorrect configs at once instead of 1 at a time. Thus, I wanted to know if there would be any way I could do something like:

and have the catch block executed before going through the try block from where the exception was thrown.

No, you can't jump back into the try. You can put your try/catch inside a loop though, so that if one fails, it will loop around and start a new try for the next one. Define a class that holds all the data you need to pass to validate, and make an array or List of those objects. Change or add a validate signature that takes this object, or just extract the strings from each one when you call validate.

Getting a load failed try later message on ATV

Trying to AirPlay a movie from HBO GO to my tv. Get an error message that says load failed try again later. Any ideas how to resolve?

The movie shows the AirPlay icon and turns blue when selected. Tried again and got audio only but still no video. This was aftervpowering the apple box off and back on.

"Getting started" for connectivity to OAM from OSB

I am completely new to OAM IdXml. I need to do POC to make connectivity to OAM for CRUD operations from OSB.
Where can I start from? Is there any "Getting started" Guide or Any beginer steps to follow to get started?

I'm very familiar with organizing in iTunes, and I prefer to have iTunes organize my library and COPY any media I add (that way I don't have links to media everywhere).
iTunes and iPhoto are totally different except that they both start with "i"
(1) linking to my existing folders and photos
Advantages:
Keeping the library file small (so as to keep iPhoto speedy to open/navigate?)
Preserve folder structure
Drawbacks:
Can't remove pics from the hard drive after I've previewed in iPhoto. I would have to preview all the pics in my respective folders, remove the ones I don't want, then import and tag, etc.
Additional major drawbacks
In addition to the more difficult import workflow as you note above deleting photo is more difficult (delete in iPhoto and then again from the hard drive outside of iPhoto)
And upgrading/replacing hardware is much more difficult
(2) copying the media to the iPhoto Library file. I like this idea because I can "Show package contents" if I want to see my originals, and it keeps everything in a nice, tidy file.
Drawback (possible): Does this file, when it gets large, take a long time to open, and does iPhoto slow to a crawl? (I have about 80 GBs of photos to import).
Advantage: I can remove files from the hard drive right from within iPhoto.
That is a large library - mine has just over 30,000 photos in it which consist of about 50GB of photos (total library is about 72GB) which runs great on a 27" iMac (was getting slow on my old G5 before upgrading to an Intel 3.33 GHz core 2 duo)

If you're running OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and take the remedial steps suggested in the summary that appears, if any. If you're not using a wireless keyboard or trackpad, disable Bluetooth by selecting Turn Bluetooth Off from the menu with the Bluetooth icon. Unable to connect to DB from OBIEE 11G

Hello experts
I have successfully installed OBIEE 11G on my Linux machine.. On Windows machine I have installed the client tool. Both are version 11.1.1.7.0.
I have my Tnsname.ora file saved in both Oracle_Home/network/Admin as well as OBIEE/Oracle_BI1/Network/Admin folder..
Now my DB is on a different linux machine, so my TNSname file has the correct entry for that..
I am able to connect to the DB from my OBIEE server machine through Putty by doing : sqlplus username/password@instance
However, from OBIEE side, I am not able to update rowcounts nor viewing reports..
From RPD side, I am getting errors: The connection has failed,
From report:
Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65PState: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. First copy the TNSnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files from ur Database following location:C:\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN
and paste these two files in ur Obiee installetion following two locations:
D:\MWHOME\Oracle_BI1\network\admin
D:\MWHOME\oracle_common\network\admin

Icloud photo library won't work unless connected to wifi. If I am trying to attach a pic to a message or email, I get the error "photo can't be downloaded from iphoto library, please try later." If I connect to wifi it works just fine.

If it's truly "storing" a low res version on my phone it shouldn't have to download anything. I can understand the uploading of pics to library only being done over wifi, but there are plenty of times I'm going to want to send a pic when I'm not going to be near a network. It does work occasionally, but the norm is that I get the error.

There is issue with Windows 7 when you send the email. It gives the message you specified.
But you can always use Adobe Email client to send your images. In this workflow also you would get the error message but you can ignore it and continue to send the mail.

reboot
reload iTunes
NB hp is a relatively new machine and has previously backed up quite happily.
Can anyone assist?

Try rebooting the iPad. Hold down both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears. Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow. It takes a minute or two to restart.
Also be sure your iPad battery is not completely discharged.
