Getting iCal info into google

Ok, I've followed these directions off of the google calendar page:
To migrate your events from Apple iCal to Google Calendar, follow these steps:
1. In Apple iCal, select the calendar from the list of calendars in the iCal window.
2. Select "File" > "Export."
3. Name the calendar, then save it.
4. In Google Calendar, ensure that you've created the calendar that you'd like to migrate events to. Then, at the top of the calendar list on the left, click the "Add" down-arrow button and select "Import Calendar."
5. Click "Browse" and select the appropriate file, then select "Open."
6. From the drop-down menu, select the calendar to which you'd like to import events.
7. Click "Import" to complete the import.
I've tried this with my Entourage calendar in iCal and I get the following error message in google when I attempt to import:
Failed to import events: Unable to process your iCal/CSV file. The file is not properly formatted..Error at line 49: Invalid value [1]
Any ideas how to fix this, and yes I am aware of the software options that cost $, and no, I am not interested in them. Thanks for any suggestions.
Mark

Mark,
More than a month later looks like you've had no interest from Apple solving this problem. I'm having it too. Error from Line 95 in my case. Looking at Line 95 in TextWrangler, I see nothing unusual:
X-WR-ALARMUID:E581B1A7-2124-4601-9C53-682CE9013AAD
And just in case their error messages really refer to the previous line (like in PHP), here's Line 94:
TRIGGER;RELATED=1:-P2D
As I visually scan the file, I see nothing that stands out. At the end it looks like normal closing arguments:
END:VALARM
END:VEVENT
END:VCALENDAR
This is happening on my older G5 which was upgraded from Panther. Tried this in Firefox and Camino; same results.
I tried it on my MBPro; same thing. Thought it wouldn't have the niggling issues of the upgrade from Panther (not sure if iCal was updated completely).
BTW, my '.ics' file is the result of iCal first syncing with my Entourage calendar and tehn exporting from iCal. Maybe weird background stuff comes over with the sync to Entourage, but all the dates come over with no errors.
Maybe someone from Apple will look at this, though it may be something in Google's code.

  • Importing iCal Calendar into Google

I don't know if this is a problem with iCal or with Google, but here goes:
I'm trying to sync my iCal with my Google calendars... I want to import what I currently have in iCal into Google calendars so that everything with be in sync. I export my calendars from iCal, and then import them into Google. Some calendars work fine, but for others, I get this error message:
    Processed zero events.
Failed to import events: Unable to process your iCal/CSV file..
Any ideas on what I can do? I tried it both before and after upgrading to Snow Leopard, and no change.

Thanks for the suggestion with BusySync. The problem I see with that is that it isn't an iCal plugin, but it launches an entirely separate application instead of iCal.
As for the problem at hand I'm wondering if it's related to repeating future/past events and/or the file size because of that?

  • Any easy way to get EXIF info into the Description?

I'd like to use the Share feature in iPhoto '11 to ... well, share a bunch of photos, including their EXIF info in the Description. Out of the box it looks like the only way to do that is to hand-enter all that data, which is a PITA. Anyone know of an iPhoto plugin or other way to automate getting at least some of the EXIF data into the Description field?

I would have bet a great deal of money you'd go on to question why I was sharing on Facebook instead of elsewhere, even though that's wholly irrelevant to my question. How does my "explaining" it help answer my question?
For those not ignoring me and instead actually interested in being helpful rather than boosting their post count, the reason I'm sharing on Facebook is because that is where the group is based with whom I'm sharing the photos. The EXIF data isn't critical, just helpful. I'm not trying to share full-resolution photos for people to download and print but rather sample photos with various lenses and configurations to give a general idea about what said lenses or configurations do for the photo, and providing the EXIF info is helpful. Right now I'm entering it into the Description field manually, but given that the data is right there I was hoping someone else would have also seen this need and created a solution.
    Anyone?

Read FAQ's but did not see how I was to proceed to restore the data in the Old FireFox Data folder on my desktop. It should hold all of my bookmarks, passwords and other data that I would like to recover into this new install of FireFox.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; '''Old Firefox?'''

  • Where does Siri get location info?  How can I get listed?

I work at a local church and when I ask Siri about visiting the closest church Siri is way off.  It tells me the closest church is 17 miles away, when there is one next door to my house and a dozen others closer to me.  Any idea what is going on?

This was EXACTLY what I needed about the purchases I made from my device. However, is there a way to re-download other ones you've made from a computer? Because I realized some of them were not just purchased from my device.
This is a picture of what it looks like now:

As you can see, the stuff circled in red doesn't give me an option to download from Cloud Beta because it already says "downloaded".
any way to get around that?

  • Can I import my sbc/Yahoo calendar info into iCal?

I posted a similar query regarding my Address Book and contacts so if anyone is lurking in both forums, my apologies for any redundancies…..
I use Outlook on a PC at my office, and I have an sbcglobal/Yahoo mail account. I look upon my office Outlook as my ultimate contacts list (over 1,100 entries) and my master calendar, for both professional and personal appointments.
I use the sbc/Yahoo-supplied free Intellisync software to sync all of my calendar and contacts from my office PC into sbc/Yahoo. That way I actually get e-mail reminders of appointments, etc. in addition to my Outlook notifications. It is actually pretty nifty.
I have also successfully signed-on to my Yahoo account at home on my G4 and then exported all of my contacts from Yahoo (which had been populated by the PC Outlook listings via Intellisync) onto my desktop and then imported them into Address Book.
Is there a similar method I can do to populate iCal with my Outlook information? I am getting this info by pinging sbcglobal/Yahoo which in turn has been fed the information from my office PC Outlook program.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks
    Theo

I think using an csv file export will do the trick

    i followed Michal BLOG /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/11/10/xi-the-same-filename-from-a-sender-to-a-receiver-file-adapter--sp14
    Requirement :
    1) I am able to get the Target file name as same as the source file name when i check the ASMA in Sender & Receiver Adapter , with out any UDF...............this thing is OK
    2) I took One field extra in the target structure Like "FileName" & I mapped it Like
                              Constant(" " )--UDF-----FileName
I Checked the Option ASMA in Both Sender & Receiver Adapters
Here iam getting the Target File name as same as Source file name + Source File name Info in the Target Field " FileName".
I Dont want to get the Target File name as same as Source file name. I want like Out.xml as Target file name.
If i de-select the Option ASMA in Adapters means it is showing " null" value in the target field "FileName".
Please Provide the Solution for this

  • Can I sync Address Book and iCal to put contact info into iCal?

I use Address Book as a contact/customer list and use iCal to prepare my schedule for work. I usually type in the name of the customer I want to see in iCal. Is there anyway to import or drag names out of Address Book into iCal so the location & contact info will be included? I don't want to invite the customer. I just want to input the info into iCal so I don't have retype a name that is already in my Address Book.
If I have customer "xxx" in Adress Book and I am planning on visiting this customer tomorrow. Is there anyway for me to transfer/import this info to iCal without physically typing "xxx"? When I look at my appointment I would love to see the contact info for "xxx" in iCal when I click on individual appointments.
    I hope this makes sense.

    Hi,
You can link to the Address Book entry with a URL. See my script +Link to Address Book+ on this page http://www.nhoj.co.uk/applescripts/ which creates a link from the currently selected person in Address Book. These can then be added to the URL field in iCal or the notes field if you have more than one per event.
    Best wishes
    John M

  • Import my iCal into Google Calendar

The new Google software makes it easy to copy the Google Calendar into iCal but when I try to import my iCalendar into Google Calendar, I have to select a calendar. I have no idea which of the files in /Library/Calendars to select. How do I tell?

You may want to import all of them. There is a different calendar folder for each group that you have in iCal (like work, home, etc). If you don't want to import all, go to /Library/Calendars and inside each .calendar folder is an events folder with .ics files inside. Open any of these files and it will start iCal and take you to the event so you can find out which group it's in.

  • Why do i not get album info when copying cd's into itunes?

I have been importing music from my cd's into my itunes library. I am wondering why album info and track names do not automatically transfer over into itunes? I am having to type each song name and album name in individually - is there a way around this?
    Cheers

That just depends who made the CD. Some have that info, and some don't. It sounds like the one's you're importing don't.
Also, some get that info off the Internet, so you'll want that computer connected while importing.
