Getting iCal to sync with iCloud for two Macs, and a 3G iPhone

I currently have a Macbook and MacMini both running 10.7.2, and just started using iCloud this week to sync contacts, iCal, bookmarks, etc. I thought I initially had problems with iCal as I was getting two copies of every event showing up on my MacBook, but then realized I had two sets of calanders, ("on my mac" and "iCloud"). After I unchecked the "on my mac" calanders, everything appeared normal.
The problem I face now is with my 3G iPhone that can't run iOS5, and thus, no iCloud. My iCal on my iPhone is set to sync with my "on my mac" calanders, so with those unselected, the events are not showing up on my Macbook, and thus, aren't being synced to my MacMini.
My question is, can I have my 3G iPhone sync to my iCloud calanders everytime I connect it to my Macbook to sync via USB, instead of syncing with the "on my mac" calanders as it is currently doing without have iOS5 capabilities on my iPhone? If not, is there a way to have iCloud keep syncing with my "on my mac" calander list, so that it is always up to date, and data from my iPhone will be synced over to my iCloud calander list from the "on my mac" calander list?
I'm just trying to figure out if I'll be able to transfer new iCal dates I create on my 3G iPhone over to my iCloud calander list, and ideally, vice versa.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I understand that iCloud won't run on it or with it. I'm just trying to figure out if there is a way to sync the "on my mac" calanders (which sync to my iPhone iCal everytime I connect via USB) continually with my iCloud calandars so the two are always up to date.

  • Trying to get iCal to sync with iCloud on my mac

Hi there, I have a 2009 Macbook Pro running Yosemite. Since upgrading to mavericks, and subsequently Yosemite, I cannot get iCal to sync with the iCloud. All my calenders were sucked onto the cloud, and I can access them via my Iphone 5s and online, but whenever I try to tick the box in iCal to sync with my iCloud account, it crashes iCal.
When I was on Snow leopard, and had a Nokia phone, I used a terminal command to sync my iCal through dropbox, which worked fine, but has obviously migrated with my user account, as with a clean install of Yosemite iCal works fine, until I use Migration assistant to install my User profile.
Is there anyway to reset just iCal without a clean install off the OS?
    Thanks in advance

Well, per the Adobe website, After Effects CS6 for Students is only available via a Suite
    Creative Suite 6
Or US$999 for the non-Student version of After Effects CS6 alone
    Creative Suite 6
Both those options are expensive compared to the Cloud options and give you only outdated - 3 year old - software.
All Cloud plans give you access to 3 independent versions: CS6, CC and CC 2014, so your Cloud options:
There are no Single App Student versions, so your only other Student option is to subscribe to the Cloud Complete Plan for Students and Teachers @ US$19.99/month (requires 12 month commitment - so US$240 all up).
Or Single App After Effects (non-Student) for US$19.99/month - not much point since you can get the full Cloud Student and Teacher version for the same price
Creative Cloud pricing and membership plans | Adobe Creative Cloud
Financially, the Full Cloud Student and Teacher option seems to offer the best value for you. Just remember that you're only ever renting the software. You never own it.

  • I have signed to up to iCloud and am pretty sure that all of my settings are turned on appropriately. However I get syncing from iCloud to my Mac and to my iPhone, but I am unable to get my iPhone to sync with the iCloud and most obviously calendar events

I have signed to up to iCloud and am pretty sure that all of my settings are turned on appropriately. However I get syncing from iCloud to my iMac and to my iPhone, but I am unable to get my iPhone to sync with the iCloud and most obviously calendar events, so that if adding an event on my iPone it never appears on my other hardware? Can anyone help me sort this out?

Re: check that the appointments in my phone are going into iCloud calendars....exactly how do I do this?  I fear this is a really stupid question!
My iCloud account is set up with my Apple ID as one email account (for example [email protected]) which is the email account I use to sign up for internet sites like Amazon, Apple, etc, so that I can differentiate vendors/mass emails.  But my default calendar on my iPhone is in a different email name (ie [email protected]) which I use for most communications to friends, relatives, etc. and it is this account that holds most of my appointments.  To further complicate things I have other email accounts that I use for business/professional and community work.  If I want all my calendars to show on my iPhone AND sync to my iCloud, do I set this at the phone level or the iCloud level?  or both?
Let me clarify....It looks like if I go into appointments that I previously set up through my personal account (ie above [email protected]) and edit the entry on my iPhone, selecting the iCloud "home" calendar within the entry, it will then sync to my iCloud account, no problem....do I have to do this to EVERY entry I have? or is there  a way to name my personal account as one to sync to iCloud?

  • Cant get ical to sync with iphone after installing OSX

cant get ical to sync with iphone after installing OSX

I too was a mobileme user and have just migrated to iCloud on mackbook pro w/OS 10.7.4. Transition caused my sent mailboxes to rearrange themselves so that I have no comprehensive 'sent' mailbox as I did previously and the view on both incoming and outgoing mailboxes keeps rearranging itself no matter how many times I set preferences. One result is that search function no longer works.  Is anyone else having problems like this?  All was fine for a week after transition but after having an evening when my password was repeatedly rejected I had to log in and out of iCloud (as directed by tech support) and w/in an hour or so the mailbox problem began.

    Hi there kushfromgbr,
You may find the information in the article below helpful.
    About SyncServices
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5847
    OS X Mavericks
OS X Mavericks v10.9 and later do not use SyncServices. Instead, Mavericks supports sharing your information using several network-based and cloud-based solutions. If you want to sync your information across multiple devices and computers, you should use one or more of these methods. These include iCloud, CardDAV servers, CalDAV servers, and servers that utilize the Exchange ActiveSync protocol.

  • ICal not syncing with iCloud or iPhone

    Hi,
I just got a new iPhone today and I am having trouble syncing my iCal to it. Prior to this I did not have an iCloud. I created one on iCloud.com but everything there is blank. The iCal on my laptop is full, but I don't see an option in preferences to sync with iCloud, only something about MobileMe. I don't really understand what I'm suppose to do. I've looked through many different forums about this, but nobody seems to talk about my specific problem. Ideas?
Side question... where is Facetime on the iPhone? I thought it was included, but I can't find it and it's not avilable through the app store.
    Thanks!

    Greetings,
If you are running OS X 10.6 or earlier on your computer you will want to either:
    A. Sync your calendar using the USB cable and NOT use iCloud calendars (as iCloud requires Lion (10.7): http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296
    B. Purchase and install Lion assuming your Mac meets the requirements: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4949
If you are running 10.7 on your Mac (Check by going to Apple > About this Mac), reply back and we can suggest how to get the calendars on iCloud.
    To your side question:
While this isn't the iPhone forum, your profile says you are using an iPhone 3G.  FaceTime for iOS is available on iPad 2, iPhone 4, iPhone 4 S and iPod touch (4th generation): http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4319
Hope that information sheds some light.

  • ICal Cannot Sync with iCloud

My MacPro running 10.7.5 cannot sync iCal with iCloud.  My MacPro is too old and cannot upgrade to Mavericks.  I am stuck at Lion. How can I get my iCal in Lion to sync with iCloud?

You don't need Mavericks to sync your calendars.
    Please try the following...
First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

That and other issues will happen if one tries to use a unsupported system with new services / software that was never designed for the system in use.
Apple clearly says you need Lion 10.7.2. How on earth can you expect that it would work in 10.6.2 ??

  • I've only used my calendar on my Iphone 4. today i selected to sync with icloud for a back up and all my calendar appointments are gone. Help please.

I had a ton of appointments on my calendar well into next year. I thought a back up would be nice so I elected to turn on my icloud for my calendar and everything is gone.. i then turned it off but no luck.. it's all gone.. then i checked my icloud on pc and its blank too...  did i just lose everything??? so not happy right now

    Hello Ronbon13,
Thank you for the details of the calendar issue you are experiencing on your iPhone 4S.  On an iOS device, you can configure previous events to sync to your device in the Calendar settings.
If you go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, you can set your calendars to sync "All Events" or events ranging from 2 weeks back to 6 months back.
Several settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars affect Calendar and your calendar accounts. These include:
Syncing of past events (future events are always synced)
    iPhone - Calendar settings

  • Since I created an iCloud email account, nothing on my ipad2 syncs with iCloud on my PC and all of my prior information has disappeared from my gmail, notes, calendar, etc. Any ideas?

Why is it that since I created an iCloud email account (my default email client is gmail), nothing on my iPad2 syncs with iCloud on my PC? Also, all prior content in Notes, Contacts, Mail, Calendar, etc. has disappeared.

Okay, I see from the control panel for iCloud in Explorer that now I have to use Outlook as my mail client for Calendar, Mail and Notes. Why? Gmail is my client and everything used to work fine until I had to get that @icloud.com account.
Also, I see I have to use Explorer as my browser if I want to sync Bookmarks. What's wrong with Firefox?
Outlook is the only supported Mail/Contacts and Calendars client on a PC.
And once more, Gmail has no connection with iCloud, you can continu using Gmail on the web or in Mail
Why not say what you expect to happen and I'll tell you if it will.

  • Syncing with icloud for 3 devices but two accounts.

We have An Imac. I have an ipad and my husband an iphone. How do we sync to the computer and with i cloud without mixing up our information. When my husband set up his i cloud account and synced his phone, my info and his info came onto his phone.
How do we synd and separate?
    Thanks!

You need to have separate user accounts on your Mac, each connected to a different iCloud account. Any one user account can only sync with any one iCloud account.

  • ICal: How do I get iCal to sync with a shared calendar?

I am working in a small business who are running a Microsoft Exchange Server. All users are using Microsoft Outlook for e-mails and calendars. I want to get iCal on my mac to sync with the shared calendar on the Exchange server which is published in the 'public folders'. Can anyone shed any light on this matter? Does iCal do this?

    In short: No it doesn't.
There's a third party 'solution' out there: Groupcal by Snerdware. However, since OS10.4 it's nothing but trouble with that program. They've recently released version 3.0, which is supposed to fix things, yet for me (and a couple of other users, according to for instance versiontracker) matters only got worse. I'd say: give the trialversion a go and see if it works for you. But be prepared for trouble with future OS updates etcetera. Also their support only returns emails with very short and cryptic answers, if at all.
The alternative of course is using Microsoft Entourage instead of iCal.

  • ICal Calendar sync with iCloud Calendar

I am moving from Google calendar to iCal and need some help. I have imported my Google calendar into iCal, but now that I created new calendars (to make different events different colors) events are disappearing. For example - my Google calendar came over to iCal under one calendar (one color) and when I change it to a new calendar (new color) the event disappears from iCal. All of my newly created calendars are checked. I tested this and events created for the first time in iCal do not have this issue.
How to I get all calendars to show at once on imported events?
Once iCal is all straightened out, how do I get the what I see on iCal to show on iCloud calendar? I need iCloud to match iCal so I can add events from my PC at work.
Then finally - I want to add either the iCal or iCloud calendar (because at this point they will be the same and either can be updated) to my iPhone.

  • Help with icloud for two users

I have an iphone 4s and my husband just purchased an iphone 5. All my contacts have ended up in his phone and as he deletes them - they delete from my phone also! How can I stop this from happening. IS this something to do with icloud??? I there away of have one itunes & icoud accounts and still have more than one ios mobile device that operate separatley?

The short answer is no. Anything that signs in to the same iCLoud account gets to share EVERYTHING. That after all is the point of iCloud.
I would suggest that the solution is to each have your own iCLoud account (neither of you share any of the other's data) and also set up a third 'shared' account that you both will have access to add, edit, delete etc. So each of you will be using 2 accounts, your own and the shared one. Then simply use them as appropriate, so e.g. each of you keeps your own contacts in your own account, but any contacts that you share, put in the shared account. Same with Calendars etc.
That would be the correct way to do it.
