Getting icc profiles into lightroom

I have downloaded profiles from epson for my 3800 printer, profiles for red river paper.  They do not show up in LR print module.  They do however, show up in Photoshop print module.  What am i doing wrong?

maybe not.  how do i check to see if the profiles are RGB or CYMK?  will RGB profiles still print well on my SP3800?
Double click the profile. It should open in Colorsync utility. In the Header section you should see under "Space" whether it is RGB or CMYK. The profile should also be of class Output. All of RR's profiles that I have used were RGB and work fine in Lightroom. You don't want CMYK profiles for a inkjet printer that uses more than 4 inks and for that reason profiles for such printers are rarely CMYK. So the profiles are probably in the wrong spot or you have a problem icc profile in the profiles folder that trips up Lightroom. You can fix such problems by running profile first Aid in Colorsync Utility. If you don't see where to do that, open a new window in the Utility. In this utility you can also see which profiles are correctly installed in the profiles section.

  • How to install ICC profiles in Lightroom

    This is probably an easy question, but I didn't see an obvious reply in Google.  I use ICC profiles when I print from Photoshop, but they don't appear in Lightroom.  Is there an easy way to install all my profiles into lightroom?

    Jim,
    Thanks!   I was scratching my head there for a moment, because that's how I install profiles in Photoshop. I couldn't figure out why they weren't showing up in Lightroom. It finally dawned on me that I had had to nuke and re-install Lightroom due to a persistent corrupt file. Apparently the profiles went away with the previous installation.  Thanks for your help!

  • How to select my custom monitor calibration profile into Lightroom 5.7?  I used i1 Display Pro to calibrate my monitor, I could not find or confirm that Lightroom is using my custom monitor calibration profile? Thank you very much.

    How to select my custom monitor calibration profile into Lightroom 5.7?  I used i1 Display Pro to calibrate my monitor, I could not find or confirm that Lightroom is using my custom monitor calibration profile? Thank you very much.

    The monitor profile is set at system level. Lightroom will find it there and use it. You're not supposed to do anything, i1 Profiler will do it all for you.
    Go here to confirm that the right profile is set as system default (Windows):

  • Icc profiles in Lightroom 5

    I've been trying and trying, but still no success in 'installing' icc profiles so they appear in Lightroom 5 using Soft Proofing. I've downloaded profiles and used the right-click to Install Profile - I've put them manually into the Windows....color folder where profiles go - I've rebooted and restarted and anything else I could find to try. Gail

    The way I did it was to go to the print module and then to the color management section of the right-hand panel. I clicked on the pulldown that allows you to choose profiles. Then I clicked on "Other" and put checkmarks in the profiles that I wanted to use. That put them on what I call  the shortlist in the print module, and it made them available for soft proofing in the develop module.  All this was done after I had right-clicked on the ICC profiles and told Windows to install them.

  • How to get ICC Profile from Illustrator.Document ?

    I am using CS5 SDK and I have an Illustrator.Document object.  I want to get the path to the ICC profile(s) associated with that document (RGB, CMYK, Greyscale).  How can I get to those?
    Thanks,
    ...Matt

    A little, since I'm a C++ guy
    That said, I've looked through the headers and there's slim pickings on ICC profiles. I seem to recall others have asked similar questsions and run into problems with the lack of API support.
    The only thing I can find is this in AIOverrideColorConversion.h:
    AIAPI AIErr ( *GetWSProfile )( const ASUInt32 whichProfile, AIColorProfile *profile );
    AIAPI ASUInt32  ( *GetOpenPolicy )(AIColorProfile *profile, ASUInt32 colorModel, ASBoolean isLink, ASBoolean linkHasMultipleProfiles);
    AIAPI AIErr ( *GetProfileData ) (const AIColorProfile profile, ASUInt32 *size, void *data );
    AIAPI AIErr ( *GetProfileName) (const AIColorProfile profile, ai::UnicodeString& profileName ) ;
    There's documentation associated with those calls, but pasting them is a problem because the editor interprets the tabs as tables
    Does that sound like what you want? If so, check out that header and look up those methods -- see if what they describe sounds useful. Presumably there's something similar somewhere in the C# API.

  • Import lens profile into Lightroom 4.3

    Hi,
    As my camera is fairly "old", lightroom does not have a lens correction profile for it. I have created a lens correction profile with Adobe Lens Profile Creator. Now how can I import this profile in Lightroom?
    Thanks

    Are you are on a Mac?  I am on Windows and the locations for the profiles given above are for Windows, not a Mac.
    With LR 4.3, you cannot put the user profiles into the folder with the Adobe profiles.  I can't tell you how things work on a Mac nor exactly where they should go without Googling where user profiles go on a Mac.
    I can say that I put the profile you supplied into this exact folder on my Windows 7 computer and it worked right off, as soon as I enabled lens profile corrections for the JPG:
    C:\Users\Steve\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\Downloaded
    as evidenced by the righthand panel in this screenshot:
    However, as you can see with the before and after portion of the screenshot, there appears to be something wrong with at least the vignetting correction, because the corners are over-lightened, and almost the entire image is much brighter with the lens profile applied.  I've never created a lens profile to know if what I'm seeing is due to a common mistake when creating profiles such as uneven lighting, or if perhaps the profile doesn't have enough different focal-length combinations so it is applying a correction for a completely different position of the lens and overlightening.  Or perhaps the vignetting has already been corrected in the JPG that was supplied so now it is being double-corrected by applying the profile, again.

  • Get ICC Profile name of image in INDD

    Hi,
    How I can get the Profile name associated to a RGB/CMYK image in InDesign?
    The properties profile of image return Embedded instaed of name of ICC profile (Example Adobe RGB (1998)).
    From link palette this info is available...

    Hi,
    I found the solution using the power of Sips:
    try
        set pathImmagine to "Snow Leopard:Users:stefano:Desktop:roman16_06_yellow.tif"
         set profileName to do shell script "sips -g profile " & quoted form of (POSIX path of pathImmagine) & " | fgrep profile | sed  's/  profile: //g'"
    on error msg number errnum
        set profileName to "ND"
    end try
    Very fast even with big images.
    But like Adobe as added the intelligent new Parent page property, this property must be added in InDesign

  • Get icc-profile from a image

    Is ist possible to get the ICC-profile of a image
    I try this with  a Adobe RGB 1998 with embeded profile:
    alert(app.activeDocument.selection[0].graphics[0] .profile);
    alert(app.activeDocument.selection[0].graphics[0] .space);
    But it only return  "Emdeded" for .profile and "RGB" for .space. But i want it to return adobe rgb 1998
    Is it possible?

    I can't think nothing better than temporarily open the link in Photoshop and get its embedded profile from there:
    #target indesign
    #targetengine "session"
    if (!BridgeTalk.isRunning("photoshop")) {
         alert("Photoshop is not running.");
    else {
         var link = app.selection[0].graphics[0].itemLink;
         CreateBridgeTalkMessage(link.filePath);
    function CreateBridgeTalkMessage(filePath) {
         var bt = new BridgeTalk();
         bt.target = "photoshop";
         var script = GetProfile.toString() + "\r";
         script += "GetProfile(\""  + filePath + "\");";
         bt.body = script;
         // $.writeln(script);
         bt.onResult = function(resObj) {
              var result = resObj.body;
              DisplayProfile(result);
         bt.send(100);
    function GetProfile(filePath) {
         try {

              var psDoc = app.open(new File(filePath));
              var prof = app.activeDocument.colorProfileName;
              psDoc.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);
              app.displayDialogs = DialogModes.ALL;
              return prof;
         catch(err) {
              psDoc.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);

  • Getting Canon Profile into ACR

    OK folks, Pretty new to this but i saw on Photoshop user TV or something like that, When the host went to the Camera icon in ACR it had the camera profiles such as Portrait, Landscape, Neutral and the others, but here at work and at home the only things that come up is ACR 4.6. How do i get the Canon profiles into ACR? i would much prefer to use this than DPP because is fits into my workflow better.

    Please download and install the latest version of the DNG Converter (5.5):
    Mac: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4575
    Win: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4576
    You can ignore the DNG Converter itself for the purposes of this thread. However, the installer will take care of installing all of the latest external color profiles for all Canon camera models that we support. Once you install it, restart Photoshop or Bridge and then when you visit the Camera Calibration panel, the profile popup should have additional options.

  • I don't want to import PHOTOS. I want to get only one into Lightroom for temporary work. How do I do this. (the photo is now in Photoshop Elements).

    Don't want to import all photos from my camera or anywhere else. I only want to work on one image then put it back into Elements. Please tell me how to do this and I would appreciate a detailed answer. Please do not be vague.

    Lightroom is not a file browser, It isn't anything like the organizer in Photoshop Elements. Lightroom uses a catalog, which is a database. That database keeps track of the location of images that have been imported, as well as all of the adjustments that you make to those images using Lightroom. The import process is a process of showing Lightroom where the images are located on your computer. You can't just open an image in Lightroom, make changes and then close it. Lightroom doesn't make changes to the original image. Your images are left in their pristine state. All the changes are stored in the catalog. And when it comes time to share an image that has been adjusted in Lightroom you need to export a copy that includes all of those changes. It's a different workflow, and one that you need to become accustomed to. I suggest that you watch a series of short tutorials that will help you understand more completely how Lightroom works.

  • How do I get a photo into Lightroom if I first opened it in Photoshop for editing

    Sometimes I open an image (not in the Lightroom catalog)  directly into Photoshop for editing and when I'm done would like to finish editing it in Lightroom. What's the best way to do that?

    Any reason why you're not opening it in Lightroom first?  RAW converter?   "Typical" workflow would be to open everything in Lightroom, do basic development, and then kick it over to Photoshop as needed.  Lightroom tracks it the whole time, so when you save your file in Photoshop, so long as you don't rename it, Lightroom will keep track of it as an alternate to the original.

  • Missing Canon lens profile into lightroom

    Hi Guys
    I have LR4.1 and I just realized that I am missing the one for my 100-400 f4,5/5,6
    any idea how can I get it ?
    Many thanks
    have a super day, Thierry

    It is possible to save a duplicate of the lens profile file, and "kludge" it from Raw to non-Raw using a text editor. This generally works well enough; much better than manual corrections alone - provided that the camera is not also applying lens correction, and so confusing matters.

  • I can't load custom camera profiles into Lightroom 4.3?

    I have googled this found some posts about puting it under the Users folder. However I don't have a library under my username it comes under a folder called Shared.
    I'm using a Mac computer
    I placed my custom profiles in there , however it still won't work.
    Can anyone offer any help in the matter?

    Yes, it won't work if you put them in a folder called Shared.  It's looking in this location: Macintosh HD / Users / [your username] / Library / Application Support / Adobe / CameraRaw / CameraProfiles /
    There should be a Library folder under your username - I've never heard of a Mac install without one (i.e. as far as I know, the Mac OS won't work).  It's a hidden folder though.
