Getting iDVD 7.0.4 to recognize 16:9

I'm turning once again to the power of the Apple community...
I have created a video shot and edited in 16:9, but I am having trouble getting the iDVD to recognize it as such; when imported into an iDVD project, it changes it to 4:3.
I have created a Quicktime movie version of it, as well as a FCE reference movie version of it.
I researched this, and found two threads which dealt with this.
The first thread is the Apple article TS1611, which explains using the options in the "Export using Quicktime Conversion" choice in FCE. I followed this to the letter, but I wasn't successful. I wondered if the article, dated May 6, 2008, may not apply to the idiosyncrasies of an Intel iMac running 10.6.2 with iDVD 7.0.4 and FCE 4.0.1.
There was a second thread discussing a software application called "Anamorphicizer" which I've downloaded. The instructions are to drag to movie to this application, but I don't know how to do this. I've downloaded the software, and it appears in the dock as a grey and black square/rectangle with "16:9" however, when I double click on it, all that appears is its name at the top of the screen indicating the the software is running, but I don't see any type of icon nor interface to which I could "drag the movie."
If anyone has had success with this particular task using the combination of iDVD and FCE listed above, I'd appreciated you sharing you knowledge of this.

We're getting there...
I saw that info, but I didn't realize I had to go to the iMac install DVD to download QT7. I did, and now it works.
However, when I add the movie to iDVD, it DOES display 16:9, but it doesn't include the chapters (no "scene selection"). When I added it to iDVD earlier, it DID bring in the chapters, but didn't display it in 16:9.
If I can't get the chapters, I'll just go with the 16:9 display and not worry about it.

Since Apple has stopped supporting and offering iDVD you'll need to purchase the iLIfe 11 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: iLife 11 which will include iDVD 7.

OT ~ We keep becoming more and more aware of how easy it is to lose one's bearings when it comes to keeping up with info tech. My husband and I are both official members of the geezer set and have been out of the work force for some years. You really do pick up so much just by being in the environment where people are using things to get work done. Fixed income. So we do with what we can as long as we can. If we could get by without that Intel processor, we'd probably make do with what we've got. I am reluctant to upgrade OSX from 10.7.5 because I do not want to loose Final Cut Express 4.0.1. Apple Care no longer supports iDVD. I want a version if iDVD that supports Chapter markers as in iDVD 7.?.? that i used with my old (now deceased) Apple Power PC Mac Pro.

iDVD 7 should work fine with 10.7.5. Try this basic troubleshooting fix:
1 - delete the IDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete IDVD'S cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iDVD folder.
3 - launch IDVD and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

Need more information to help you, but I am providing some suggestions. Sorry if you are past these type of basic things. But didnt really have much to start with and understand your technical level to start with.
Have you got into Settings > Computers > Turned on Home Sharing (Note: You must use the some Apple ID used by the iTunes library on your MAC for them to see one another)
How is your MAC connected to the network vs the 720 ATV2? Is one WiFi and the other Ethernet? Have you tried switching the ATV2 to WiFi if Ethernet?
Has the MAC been restarted since this started happening? Same with your Router and any other networking device being used? Sometimes an IP conflict can arise in your networking and most consumer networking equipment does not know how to "self heal" without a reboot.
Make sure you have given those things a whirl and share back your results. Any other information you can provide, such as how you connect to your network from each ATV and MAC.

iDVD does work with Yosemite although, as Kappy pointed out unsupported for 2 years, so try this basic troubleshooting fix:

If iDVD crashes again post the first 50 lines of the crash report. Don't post a screenshot but copy and paste the actual text.
To get a movie from iMovie to iDVD it should be exported out of iMovie as 480p and added manually to iDVD.

To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.

iDVD is no longer developed or shipped by Apple. You can purchase an iLife 11 disk (if you can find one) or purchase an alternative DVD authoring app.
SInce 10.7 should you need to re-install you do so via the Recovery partition and/or the App Store.
