Getting "incorrect sync key" errors during iPhone setup
First, i tried to "add a device" in the desktop Sunc window.
Entered the simple key that my phone generated, and got a positive confirmation on the desktop.
However, the phone showed a "incorrect sync key" error message, and no connection was made.
Then, i tried it the other way around - through the phone app.
I entered the sync key, connected, and got the "incorrect sync key" error as well. I tried this twice, just to make sure i didn't have a typo anywhere.
Lastly, i generated a NEW sync key in Firefox. I then tried connecting BOTH WAYS all over again, always with the same "incorrect sync key" error appearing on the phone.
It works neither way! Very frustrating...
Resolved itself. I guess they were doing extensive maintenance over at Mozilla ... now it just went through as it should, and my iPhone is added to the list of devices.

i keep getting wrong sync key error after i click finish on "Setup Complete." i have tried resetting the sync key. nothing works.
Sync was an Add-on before the release of FF4 after which it was integrated into the current release, so it may behave differently.
You could maybe consider updating to the current version which is v4.0.1
To do that, click Help | About Firefox | Check For Updates and then "Apply Update".
P.S. I'm off on vacation for a month from today so I won't be able to respond again until mid-July. But I'm sure one of the other guys will be able to takeover if the problem persists. -
I keep getting "Login Failure Incorrect Sync Key". What do I do?
I have have username and password with Firefox. I have installed sync on home computer and have obtained sync key. I have installed Home on my iPhone. When I open Home, it provides code. I enter code in to Add A Device page on home computer. It says device successfully added. When I press Done on home computer, message on iPhone appears "Login Failure Incorrect Sync Key". I live in Sweden. What do I need to do to make this work? Thanks, Tosh
An upgrade of Firefox Home came through the itunes store and "lo and behold" it all works now albeit the interface is somewhat different to the desktop version. but at least all the bookmarks are there. Hope those who shared the same problem get it rectified.
Regards to you all. -
My previous question said "add a device" went to help and there was no place to input the code for a new device - was using Firefox 3 and found it in Firefox 4 Beta - BUT - the sync still fails when it finishes tabs and starts bookmarks and same thing comes up as before: "incorrect sync key".
Thanks Amitshree
I did go to those Links but again it's still not working so I need a little more assistance because although it says it is synced I see none of my bookmarks on my new laptop. -
Every time I try to set up my sync it just gives me an incorrect sync key message and I have tried getting a new one but ut still doesn't work

I have lost my sync key because I reformatted my PC and didn't have a backup of it and my only other device connected to Sync is my iPhone but I cannot access the sync key in the Firefox Home app. I really wish I didn't have to erase all my sync data as I have some important passwords and bookmarks saved only in Sync.
I did. Safari could not open the show sync key addon and Firefox Home didn't even try to load it for some reason.
The second addon install button is grey when I try to open it with Firefox Home.
Thank you, I appreciate the help but I guess unless there's a way to get the sync key for example via sftp from the iPhone (I have jailbroken) I'm pretty much doomed. I tried looking around the Firefox Home app folder but could not find the sync key in there. If someone knows where to look for the key it would be helpful, in case it isn't encrypted. -
when syncing iphone or ipad to imac, I keep getting "cannot sync unknown error occurred (-50) 1726 items " What does this mean? What do I do?
Hello, a couple of old possible fixes...

When the updater notified me of an iTunes update, I selected the update option. The update failed and killed the version I was running. I have tried for a year to fix the problem without sucess. I can't completely remove all Apple products. I can not install any apple products especially iTunes which is the only one I am interested in.
When I install iTunes now I get a registry key error similar to this:
I am using a machine where I am the only user and am the Admin. I have looked at the security settings on this key and see nothing wrond with it or the parent keys. I tried removing all apple products but ran into similar problems. At this time I still have Bonjour. Mobile Device Support, Software Update, and Application Support installed. These ones are tricky. But the following instructions are worth a try.
First do a complete uninstall of iTunes and related components (but don't reinstall just yet), as per the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
a. Launch regedit (Start >> Search Programs and Files >> type Regedit and open the regedit that comes up.)
b. Access the following Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData \S-1-5-18\Components
c. Perform the following actions
i. Right Click on Components Folder
ii. Select Permissions
iii. Select Full Control and Read Permissions options
iv. Select Advanced Button
v. Select Owner Tab
vi. Select to Change Owner to the Administrators
vii. Check the option “Replace owner on subcontainers and objects”
viii. Select OK when prompted that it may not change all.
ix. Select Apply
x. Select Apply again
xi. Exit the Registry Editor
Now try reinstalling iTunes again. Does it go in properly this time? -

Get ‘500 Internal Server Error’ during SIP INVITE - cause 44
Have you ever seen anything like this before? It usually works, but intermittently, we see calls get rejected. It somehow seems related to high loads on the router. We reduced the occurrences by changing our code to throttle the number of SIP INVITEs we send, but this doesn’t scale well. Once it occurs, the only way to clean it up is to do a shut/no shut on the voice-port associated to SIP INVITE.
Any suggestions on how we can proceed to debug this issue?

-JohnSince it appears you are a Cisco Employee, my recommendation is that you use the many internal resource available to you (including, but not limited to) , like TAC access, internal forums, team leaders, etc.
This not to give the casual reader, the impression that the best source of support at Cisco is a customer's public forum. -
I'm getting an unknown communication error during my chat to initiate AIM screen sharing. Any clues as to why? Here's the comm log...

after Re-Installing windows 7 i clicked on sync setup from the menu
user name and pass is correct but the sync key shows error
"Wrong Key"
why is that? the key is not generated,... i've changed it the time i created in and used it for over a year now
every time i re-install windows or ff i put it and it's working
so it's not wrong!!!!!!!!!
now what,.. i want my bookmark data and passwords backMake sure that you are using the exact key without any space at the end.
Unfortunately, if you did change that Key or the one that you have copied is not exactly the one that was used to encrypt your data, you can not recover it and you will need to set up Firefox Sync again.
It's always a good idea to back up your profile before reinstalling the OS. Firefox Sync is not designed as a back-up service.
Sorry about it. -

I cannot get past this error. I am running Sharepoint Foundation 2010 with Sp1. This is on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Server +Sp1.
Any ideas?
David BaurI finally figured this out, The issue was that I had put in the Self Service Portal Computer Name and Service account into the Service Manager SQL as SysAdmin, once I removed it flew through just fine.

How can i get my sync key from mobile firefox (android)?
I logged in to the sync in my desktop browser and then set up syncing with firefox for android but i recently reset my firefox config and computer isn't connected. Because i lost my sync key i can't connect it again. If key can be retrieved on connected pc why it shouldn't be possible on my mobile too? How can i do this? I even searched my mobile about:config.
You should be able to add a device by opening the Firefox Mobile preferences and then scrolling to the Sync section. Press the connect button and you will get a 12 character pass phrase. On your desktop open the options window and then the Sync tab then use the add a device button to enter the 12 character code from your mobile.
If you are not near your computer you will need the Sync Key that was given to you when setting up Sync.
