Getting InDesign separate or as a bundle with Lightroom
Hi there,
I was just wondering if it's possible to get Adobe InDesign without the rest of the Creative Cloud.
I'm doing a course at Uni and InDesign is strongly recommended, but it's the only program I actually need.
One interesting bundle I found is Photoshop CC and Lightroom. If there is a way to combine Lightroom and InDesign that would be perfect for me!
Thanks for your help in advance!

Trying to get Pro-10 XPS driver to work with Lightroom 5.2
I haven't been able to get the color balance to look anywhere close to correct when I try to print from lightroom. Everything is beautiful when I print from print studio pro.
My guess is that the ICC profile is bieng used twice when I try to print from Lightroom.
I went into the xps driver and set it up for none in the color management.
In Lightroom, I have the paper set to canon luster and the printer set to auto.
Does someone have a step by step procedure to set up the system so that it can use ICC profiles? The abbreviated notes in the setup procedure are not sufficient.
I installed the newest software using the mini setup program. I downloaded all of the drivers and the setup program to a folder and then ran it. I did have the cd in the computer but, it didn't appear to spin up.
Such lovely prints on luster and platinum! Next I want to use polar pearl metallic but, I think that I should be able to print directly from Lightroom before I try that. Also, the monitor is calibrated by colormunki.
The prints from print studio pro are spot on to th emonitor. The prints from lightroom are very red and darker.
Ideas - this can't be a new topic but, I couldn't find a resolution.I suspect you are missing the highlighted box in Lightroom.
Explore this set of adjustments. It will allow you to change profiles and other stuff.

Source code of JSF implementation bundled with JDeveloper
Where can I get the sources of JSF implementation bundled with JDeveloper 10.1.3.1 (1.1_02-b08)?
Fair enough. Yes, as far as I know those implementation classes aren't available. Contacting Sun's consulting services is one option, of course. Make sure you get someone who has actual experience with the classes in question, rather than just anyone who happens to be on the bench right now, 'cos they'll charge you handsomely either way.
I take it you've considered decompiling the classes in question ? Obviously there are legal issues to consider if you go that route, but I've found the Kaffe tool handy before now.
http://www.kaffe.org/
The only other thing I can think of is taking a dig around the IBM site to see if any of their equivalent classes are available in source form. I've always used the Sun versions, however, so I've no idea how likely this is.
Ok, I'm out of ideas. Will be interested to hear if you come up with something even more devious.

Does Adobe Photoshop Elements come bundled with Adobe Bridge? Or is Bridge a separate purchase?
Apparently there was a change in Elements 9.
From the PsE forum:
Bridge is no longer included with PSE. If you buy PSE anywhere except the Mac App Store you get Organizer instead. The app store version doesn't have organizer.
and from a link therein:
A lot of Mac folks are unhappy about Adobe’s decision to include Organizer with Elements 9 in place of Adobe Bridge, which came with previous Mac versions. (The Organizer used to be just for Windows.) If you have an older version of PSE that included Bridge, you can still use it with Elements 9… -
I installed a very complete set of styles of an opentype font with Font Book – Mac OS X 10.9.4 – but when I tried to format a sample text on InDesign CS5.5 I noticed that I could not use the opentype features on the Open Type menu as I usually do.
Could anyone help me, please? It's ffScala Sans, but has separate files for small caps, figures, etc.
I was trying to use small caps, lining figures and superscripts when I
noticed none of the OT features are available.

My macbook pro has a virus/trojan that is resetting the EFI via apci and it is getting root access privileges. It seems to be creating multiple aliases that bundle with rogue apps and preferences so it is very difficult to control or fix. Please help..It all stems from the "about donwloads" PDF which kicks off the restructuring of the OS..
Well given the fact that it is not just myself who is infected and also that this is my 3rd macbook in 1 year because the other 2 efi's were compromised to the point where they were unusable, and also that I must've been to the mac store no less than 100 times in a year for these issues, I beg to differ. Here is what I can show you. This has been ongoing for over a year now.
I will try and show you as much as I can.
1) Here is what I see when I run mount from terminal:
/dev/disk0s2 on / (hfs, local, journaled)
devfs on /dev (devfs, local, nobrowse)
map -hosts on /net (autofs, nosuid, automounted, nobrowse)
map auto_home on /home (autofs, automounted, nobrowse)
localhost:/4zOta2Q9FMiMnRjTROIbhU on /Volumes/MobileBackups (mtmfs, nosuid, read-only, nobrowse)
Why on earth is /Volumes/MobildBackups my localhost is beyond me. I don't use iCloud and Mobile me is obsolete.
2) Here is what I show when I run ls -al /*/*/*/*.efi from root
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 994464 May 1 00:33 /System/Library/CoreServices/boot.efi
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 994464 Oct 2 2012 /usr/standalone/i386/boot.efi
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 115716 Dec 13 14:08 /usr/standalone/i386/tmbootpicker.efi
As far as I know my boot.efi should not change everytime I boot my machine.
3) Here is something very interesting. When I run cd /dev followed by ls -al look what I have;

Recenly we have upgraded from Peoplesoft 7 to Peoplesoft 8.1.2
Peoplesoft 8.1.2 bundled with Peopletools(Web based front end ) for the first
time and Weblogic 5.1 sp6.
There is performance degradation of the weblogic 5.1 sp 6 (on Windows 2000 ) when
the no of users increases to 80. The Weblogic is becoming 100% CPU bound. Besides
the weblogic wont even shutdown completely when trying to shutdown.
Peoplesoft customer support advised to upgrade to Weblogic 5.1 sp 9 but sp 9 wont
support 128 bit encription which Peoplesoft 8.1.2 application need. Peoplesoft
8.1.3 will be supporting 128 bit encription after some 3 months. We have to get
along with the above mentioned configuration (Peoplesoft 8.1.2 with Weblogic 5.1
sp 9) in the mean time.
Any of you had such an experience ? Please let me know if there is a solution
or workaround.
Thanks in advance.
ManiThere shouldn't be any reason that 5.1 SP9 wouldn't support 128 bit
encryption. If that's the issue, you should post in the security
newsgroup or contact [email protected]

How do I get InDesign CS5 to stop changing my font to Minion Pro?
With no document open, the font says Times New Roman, so that should be the default. However, pasting text into a text box from another program like Open Office Writer and then adding a carriage return (normal Enter, not Shift+Enter) causes the font to suddenly change to Minion Pro, so anything I type or paste in at that point is in Minion Pro. I'm getting tired of constantly opting out of InDesign's favorite font. What do I have to do to get InDesign CS5 to accept that I use Times New Roman and not Minion Pro?
Let's see if we can explain this better...
Here's what I think is happening based on what I've been able to do here to reproduce this.
First, in the Clipboard Handling prefs the setting is to paste text only, not All Information. The TNR setting is a local override to Basic Paragraph which has been set as the default in the character panel or control panel, but [BP] itself is still set to Minion Pro.
You can type all day in ID with settings like this and not have the font change to Minion Pro, so it is tied to the paste settings. I think what is happening is that ID must ignore any formatting in the copied text in order to make the pasted text match what is set at the cursor position and for some reason resets the default text attributes to the paragraph style definition, so when you press enter your local override default is gone, but only for that frame. I believe this is actually using the Paste Without Formatting command.
It doesn't seem to matter if you continue to type in the same paragraph, the next one loses the override. You can make this happen using the Paste Without Formatting command after copying text you type with your default settings as an override, as well, even if the format of the copied text is already exactly the same because you typed it in the same paragraph. The trigger for this though, is the position in your text where you paste -- it only happens when you paste at the end of the existing text in your story.
I'm not sure if this is a bug or intended behavior, though I'm leaning towards the latter as it makes some logical sense to me. Paragraph formatting for the next paragraph is picked up from the last character when you press enter as you type at the end of a story, whereas if you type on the end of an exisiting paragraph in the middle someplace, the break at the end of that paragraph is already formatted.
Bottom line, I think the only way to make your workflow work is to make a default paragraph style with your TNR formatting eihter by editing [BP] or making a new one. I'm not sure why you didn't have success with a new style. Did you create the new style with nothing open? Did you set the formatting to be TNR? Did you also be sure to highlight this style with nothing open so that it was set to be the default? -
Hi, I want to do a clean re-installation of my end 2011 Macbook Pro which comes with pre-installed Lion OS. I go through the installation steps and after App Store verified my Apple ID, it prompted me that I did not purchase the Lion OS. I am very surprise to see this message which my pre-installed Lion Macbook Pro should have it. Please help and advise how can I get the OS? All other bundle softwares were in the purchase record except the Lion OS.
That was my mistake - sorry - it IS Command-R to boot to the Recovery disk, not Command-D: I either just hit the wrong key or am just now coming awake from my nap.
Let me see if I can just explain it in a few steps - I don't know of any link (but it would make a good User Tip):
Create an up-to-the minute back-up of your internal hard drive using an external hard drive and Time Machine.
Boot to your recovery partion - holding down Command-R on boot.
Use Disk Utility to erase Macintosh HD - use one GUID partition and format as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". Unless you're selling the machine, there's no need to do a secure erase (which can take hours).
After you erase the disk, re-install Lion from the same Recovery partition.
After installation is complete, reboot, again holding down the Command-R keys to boot into the Recovery Partition.
Restore your Time Machine back-up. This could take several hours.
Reboot after restore and you're back in business.
That should take care of everything - all you need is an Internet connection.
Call back if I didn't explain things too well - at least I got the Command-R right this time!

Can I legally remove packages from a JRE bundled with my Application
Can anyone help me get clarification on whether or not I can remove packages from a JRE that I am bundling with my Java Desktop Application. The full JRE is 90+ megs, my application does not require all of that. It was my understanding that I could modify the JRE as long I left the copyright notifications in place and did not try to represent the JRE as something I created. The license agreement is vague, at best. I was looking for direction or legal statement that allows me to trim out unnecessary packages from a JRE that is bundled with my application.
Thank you in advance for any input. The license agreement is vague, at best.http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/jre/README

Indesign book files making a PDF with spreads????
Hi, I am working with a book file but need to make a digital PDF with spreads. So the problem is obviously that I start with a right single page and finish with a left single page in each chapter which doesn't make a spread. Is there a way around this? (apart from copy and pasting the single pages at each beginning and ending together as spreads into an empty document and replacing these pages in the PDF)
ThanksRe: Indesign book files making a PDF with spreads????
When you make the pdf of the book from the book panel.
Create a new document call it filenamespreads or something.
Get the PDFplacer.jsx script http://indesignsecrets.com/placing-all-the-pages-of-a-pdf-inside-indesign.php
Run a few pages to get the position right, then do the whole book.
Export to pdf as spreads.
It sounds longwinded but it isn't.
@Eugene--
This is the closest answer to solving my problem.
To clarify, the reason I need spreads is NOT for final printing. Its for sending a reader proof to a client to send to someone for review. They need to see it as spreads to get a "feel" for the book. I feel like it should be possible to do this, easily, without too much stress in InDesign.
I am going to try your solution but I am a newbie about using scripts in InDesign. Never done it before. I placed the script in the scripts folder and re-launched InDesign, but how do I launch the script?
Thanks!
