Getting "info" button on podcasts

If you search podcasts through the store there's a convent "i" button that if you hover over or click it gives the description of that particular podcast episode. I'm wondering if there's a way to get that in the columns of your already downloaded podcasts under the library. I know you can get a "description" column but its much too cluttered.

Click once on an episode (downloaded or not) in List or Cover Flow mode and the 'i' button should appear at the right-hand end of the Description column. You can resize the columns by clicking and dragging on the (barely visible) dividers in the header row.

Hi, I have no idea what a Spotlight Get Info button is, since the 1st thing I do with a new computer or install is to permanently disable Spotlight, I use EasyFind, as Spotlight isn't reliable or helpful to me...

  • ITunes locks up and closes when trying to "Get Info" to edit Podcasts

Also having problems with ver 9. iTunes downloads and stores podcasts by the same author separately instead of placing them under the section for that series podcasts by the author. Then when I try to edit them so they will all be listed in one podcast heading it shuts down when I go to the "Get info" to edit. I guess this is actually two problems in one!
    Thanks for any suggestions!

    Hi Maeyer,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Have you had issues importing and editing information from other CDs, or just this one?
I would check your preference settings in iTunes and try to import the entire CD again.  You can also try just adding one track by dragging it to a playlist to see if you get a different result.  These articles may help ...

Each audio or video file in iTunes has several settings and tags that can be easily modified. These options can be accessed by selecting any file in the iTunes browser windows and selecting "Get Info" from the File menu. You can add song lyrics, artwork and set special playback options. The "Info" tab lets you edit information about the file including artist and album info.

  • Podcast Get Info Album Art Not Saved for Future Episodes

I have iTunes 8. I noticed most of my podcasts have album art showing in grid view. When I upgraded to 2.1 on my iPhone and synced my iPhone I noticed no album art on the podcast main page on the iPhone. I decided to restore the phone to a new phone not backup and the new sync of my podcasts showed album art. However inside each podcast the album art wasn't showing on each episode.
Looking at iTunes for those affected episodes doing a Get Info showed not album art. I guess the podcast doesn't have album art. I right click on the podcast, not an episode, and select get info. I click on the album art box and check the box and inside the album art box double click which brings up a navigation display. I had already taken a screen shot of the album art in the iTunes music store for each podcast. I import the graphic to the album art box and save. All the current episodes have their artwork updated. Now I sync to the iPhone and all is well.
If I download a new episode for this podcast and do a Get Info on this episode there is no artwork. Looking at the Get Info for the podcast the artwork was never saved. However if you change a text field in Get Info and then download a new podcast episode that text field in the get info of the episode is updated. Why doesn't the album art not get saved and update each episode that is downloaded with missing album art?
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks
    Kelvin

Yeah, on my iPhone some of the album art for my podcasts was actaully changed to an arbitrary incorrect image. For example, instead of the Cranky Geeks logo, I get to look at New Kids on the Block (don't ask). I'm going to try unsubscribing from the podcast, deleting past episodes from my computer, sync the phone so it wipes out those old episodes and incorrect art, and then resubscribing and resyncing the phone. Hopefully that will transfer the correct art back up to the phone.

  • ITunes 11.0.2.26 stops working when I try and Get Info

Hi, I've never asked a question here before, so bare with me if I give all the wrong information or something...
Recently, I'd been having trouble getting my iPod Touch 3rd gen 64 gb to sync with my iTunes Library. It would sync all my old music but any new music I added was completely ignored. In a last stich effort to fix this problem without having to resort to resetting my iTouch, I decided to update my itunes. I now have the iTunes version 11.0.2.26 and everything seemed to be working fine. My ipod syncs old and new music and all my information is still in tact.
    However.
With this new version of iTunes, every single time I try and change a song's information via the "Get Info" button, iTunes suddenly stops working and closes before I've even been able to see the information. A Microsoft Windows window pops up and says,
    "Itunes has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution
    is available."
This is a screenshot of what pops up when I click and Get Info: http://25.media.tumblr.com/1d3334a0bf5f0a7308b28f4565ff02a6/tumblr_mit8vzNS1E1ro wvqao1_500.jpg
I have a Microsoft Windows Vista
ACPI x86-based PC, driver version: 6.0.6002.18005
465 GB capacity, with only 248 GB being used
As I said before I have a 64 GB Generation iTouch 3rd Gen, and a version 11.0.2.26 iTunes. Windows informs me that all of my drivers are up-to-date and there are no current updates available.
I've tried running my iTunes in safe mode and that didn't help, and I've also tried uninstalling and then reinstalling itunes. I really don't know what else to do other than try that "Create Another User and test" thing. I am really not that well-versed in computers and diagnostics, so I'm hopping I won't have to get elbows deep in the inner files of my iTunes to try and fish out some plug-in or another. Nothing else seems to be wrong. I can sync and add music and create playlists and purchase music. I just cannot edit Get Info without my iTunes crashing.
Should I try and download the old version of iTunes again and just reset my iTouch?
    http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php?old_itunes=6704

    First I would try this
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
Next remove the Apple software using the instruction above and install a previous version. You can Google to find the previous versions

  • Can anyone help me write a script that would click "get info" and then "enter" on each movie in my itunes library? I am asking because my itunes 11 repeatedly loses the artwork to my movies in my itunes library.

Can anyone help me write a script that would click "get info" and then "enter" on each movie in my itunes library? I am asking because my itunes 11 repeatedly loses the artwork to my movies in my itunes library. I can restore the artwork (and make my apple tv see the movie exists as well) by going into the movie library and clicking on each movie by hand, slecting get info, and then selecting enter. Now doing this 10 times in 20 days was fun and all BUT I would really like to automate the process so everytime itunes screws it up I can fix it easier.
I saw this example of an itunes script that restores artwork for music
tell application "iTunes" set theSelection to selection repeat with i from 1 to count of theSelection tell (item i of theSelection) set artworkCount to count of artwork repeat artworkCount times set theArtwork to data of artwork 1 delete artwork 1 set data of artwork artworkCount to theArtwork end repeat end tell end repeat end tell
but I need to tweak this to fit my needs for simply clicking the "get info" button and "enter" in the movie library rather than all the stuff this guy has listed. Any ideas or help on writing this? Thanks.

Try assigning Queen as the Album Artist on the compilations in iTunes on your computer.

  • Get Info does not allow me to manually add album artwork

    Hello,
I am trying to manually upload album artwork on iTunes with my Windows PC (Windows 8.1 64 bit).  I followed all of the steps for doing this as outlined here in the Help section.  I did a Google search, found the album artwork in JPEG format on the internet, and then saved it to a folder on my hard drive. I then went back into iTunes, right clicked on the album that is missing its artwork, and clicked the "Get info" button.  When the next screen opens I select the "Artwork" tab, and then I select the "Add Artwork button."  This opens up a browser for my file directory, and then I went to the folder where I  saved the album artwork and double clicked on the particular JPEG I wanted to add for the CD.  The JPEG was immediately loaded onto the screen, and everything looked good to go. However, when I hit the "OK" button to select this uploaded album artwork which is loaded on the screen, for whatever reason iTunes does not save it, and the album artwork icon for the CD remains blank. Let me know where I am going wrong, or if this is a bug that needs to be addressed.
Also, I have a program called Music Collectorz that I am using to catalog all of my CDs as I burn my collection to iTunes.  For those CDs in which the Collectorz program cannot automatically find or identify the appropriate album artwork on its own, I can open up the Collectorz program's own version of "Get Info" and select "Find Cover Art."  By doing this, the Collectorz program automatically does a search on the internet--without me having to leave the Collectorz program--and retrieves several "hits" it located for the missing artworkwhich it displays on another window within the program. I then simply double click with the mouse on the photo of the artwork file I want to upload to associate with the particular CD, and it is automatically uploaded and associated with the CD. Also, the Collectorz program will only allow you to upload artwork that is saved in file formats and sizes that are supported by the program like JPEG files.
It seems to me that Apple should have an easy way like this to manually add album artwork in iTunes. I should not have to do a separate Google search outside of the iTunes program, then save a JPEG to my hard-drive in another folder, and then go back into iTunes to add (or try to add) it to a CD's profile.  This is a waste of time, and involves several unnecessary steps.  This process should all be incorporated through the iTunes program as a one-stop shop method.  I should never have to leave the iTunes program to add any artwork ever.
I look forward to your response on this.
    Thanks,

I assume that there are legal restrictions on the way in which iTunes can get artwork automatically from any source apart from the iTunes Store (which is what the right-click > Get Album Artwork function uses).  For example, even though the Gracenote service that iTunes uses to match CDs and retrieve metadata (artist, album, track titles, etc.) also has artwork functions, iTunes does not make use of these.
For manual addition of artwork, there are three cases where the image you select may not be correctly embedded in your media files:
your media are in a format that doesn't accommodate embedded artwork - typically WAV files.  To embed artwork you'll need to convert to another format - Apple Lossless or AIFF if you want to preserve lossless quality, AAC or MP3 otherwise.
your media files are read only - to fix this, use Windows Explorer to find the folder that contains your files, right-click and select Properties.  On the General tab there's a check box labeled "Read-only" - if this is checked, or is grey (sometimes blue), click the box so that the flag is unchecked and the box is white.  Click OK, and then OK again when the "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files" option selected.  Now try adding the artwork again.
Windows permissions issues are preventing iTunes from updating your media files (there's some anecdotal evidence of a change in this behavior in iTunes 12).  See turingtest2's notes on Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows for advice on fixing this, then try adding the artwork again.

  • How to "Get Info" in the iTunes Store

In the usual part of the iTunes Store, you cannot "Get Info" about media, but there is another section where you can. First, find out the item's Genre or Category.
If it is Music, find out the Artist and Album.
If it is an Audiobook, find out the Author/Narrator.
If it is a Music Video, find out the Artist.
If it is a TV episode, find out the TV Show and the Season.
Go to the iTunes Store. Scroll to bottom. There are 4 columns. Under the 2nd column, Features, choose Browse. Choose the media type (Movie, Music, etc). Choose the Genre or Category. Next:
    if Music:
Choose All for a Subgenre. Choose the Artist. Choose the Album. Right-click on the desired song, and choose "Get Info."
    if Movie or App:
Right-Click the desired item, and choose "Get Info."
    if Audiobook:
Choose the Author/Narrator. Right-Click the desired item, and choose "Get Info."
    if Music Video:
Choose the Artist. Right-Click the desired item, and choose "Get Info."
    if Podcast:
Choose All for a Subcategory. Right-Click the desired item, and choose "Get Info."
    if TV show:
Choose the TV Show. Choose the Season. Right-Click the desired item, and choose "Get Info."

One stated to "search cmd, right click, and run as admininstrator" but where is this?
In the search field in your Vista start menu, type cmd
Next, right-click on the cmd that comes up and select "Run as administrator".

  • TS1717 get info screen in ITunes locks up

Whenever I choose the "get info" button in ITunes 11.0.2.26 it freezes and I have to use task manager to shut the program down. All I wanted to do was to rename the artist and song name. Why is this happening??

Well something different happened! I plugged in my iPod while iTunes was open, and after letting it just sit for about an hour, it unfroze it'self. However, iTunes did not recognize the iPod...until about another hour later. I was able to sync 3 CD's worth of songs(over the corse of 2 1/2 hours) and then it just sat saying it was finishing the sync. I got up to let it do it's thing and came back about 30 min later, to find it saying it was starting the sync. After it had finished, I disconnected, unplugged, and looked at my iPod. I had 2 of the CD's I had checked off for it to sync, and about 12 that I had told it not to sync. (I only had OK'd 3 CD's so as not to over whelm the system)
I also have automatic sync turned off, but apperently that doesn't matter because as soon as I plugged back in, it went into a sync. I let it it for a bit again, and when I came back to it it wasn't showing my iPod being connected, even though the screen on my iPod said it was connected. Well after a few more hours of just letting it sit hoping iTunes would catch up like it (kind of) had been all day, I came back to a pop up window saying iTunes didn't recongnise the divice and gave me the option to force a dismount. I clicked that and big surprize...nothing happened. I ended up haveing to (yet again) close iTunes up through task manager. Oh and even though I hadn't restored my iPod, it wiped it all over again, so the little bit I had on there earlier in the day was once again gone.
I will point out, I never once had any problems before the latest update, and watching the other discussions, I know I'm not the only one having these and other problems.

I have garage band ver 10.0.2 and am trying to add effects to an audio track but i have no info button or track info under the track tab.  How do i get these things to show up on my program?

In GarageBand 10.0.2 you can no longer add all kinds of effects freely; this GarageBand '11 feature has been discontinued. Pick one of the predefined patches that already has the effects you want.
However, you can add effects from the predefined audio units.
You'll see the predefined effects on the track, when you open the Smart Controls. To add audio units, click the button and enlarge the the smart controls pane by dragging the dividing line to the Track Area upwards.

That conflict preserved the United States as one nation, indivisible and abolished the institution of slavery that for more than four score years had made a mockery of American claims to stand as a republic of liberty, a beacon of freedom for oppressed peoples in the Old Word. But these achievements came at the great cost of more than 629,000 lives and vast destruction of property that left large parts of the South a wasteland. Could this terrible war have been avoided? Hi Memalyn
Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

  • Get Info "Change All" button doesn't keep the proper "Open With" app

I have a small but annoying problem that appears in Leopard 10.5.2 (been there since original 10.5.0 install) that I have tried to troubleshoot but can't solve.
    The problem is:
-With some of my file types, the wrong "Open With" application is displayed when I view a Get Info for that file type. So to fix this, I open a Get Info window on one of those types of files, and choose the PROPER default application in the "Open With" slot. This works, and then the new proper application name now shows in that slot. So then I click the "Change All" button and apply to all files of that file type. I receive the warning that I will be changing ALL files of that type. I choose "continue" because that is what I desire.
However, once I do that, (click Change All, then Continue button), the old, wrong application name jumps back the Open With slot! So the new, correct application choice doesn't "stick".
Oddly enough, it sort of DOES work, because if I then re-click in the Open With slot, although the old, the wrong application is back listed again, if I look up above that name, then my actual desired application is listed in a list, and it has the word (Default) beside it.
So if I do actually now double click any file of that type, then the proper application DOES launch and open the file.
But why does the Get Info window still display the wrong, non-default application in Open With? And furthermore, this causes all file types of that kind, to display the WRONG icon in any Finder window. They of course display, the icon of what is in the Open With slot list.
I am having this problem only with two file types and apps. (Cubase and Pro Tools---DAW audio apps). All of my Cubase files display a Pro Tools icon, and show as Open With: "Pro Tools" when of course it should display Open With: Cubase. As stated in the Open With list, Cubase is indeed there among other programs and it has the word (Default) beside it. So it sort of works when launching files. But I still cannot get Cubase to "stick" and stay in Open With after Change All!
Can anyone offer any tips on what might cause this and what fix is needed?
    Thanks so much in advance!
    Wade

Well, I tried rebuilding the Launch services with the command listed but still no luck. After having no luck with that and deleting caches, etc....I also, went to my home (user) directory and in Preferences, I deleted the com.apple.launchservices.plist file. I restarted and checked and still the same result.
Also, I want to emphasize again that the file type I am discussing DOES actually launch with the correct application. (Cubase files in my example).
But it is just annoying that ALL of my Cubase files display the Pro Tools application icon, and in Get Info they are listed to open with Pro Tools. But they actually do launch Cubase if double clicked.
And one other VITAL note....if I open Get Info for one of these files, and change the Open With from Pro Tools to Cubase....then that choice DOES "stick" and retain. (if I "don't" also click Change All)
It's only when I click "Change All" that it DOESN'T stick and the list selection jumps back to Pro Tools. I hope that may offer some clarity.
Thanks for the tips but I am still back at square one.
    Wade
