Junior SAP FICO Consultant job
My name is Yunlong. I graduated on Dec. 2013. I joined a project as a SAP FICO consultant last Jun, and work there till this Jan. I also have about 2 years experience in FICO back in China. Now I am on STEM extension, it will expire on next July. I am looking for a company who is willing to offer me H1B sponsorship. Please contact me at email [e-mail address removed: violation of The SCN Rules of Engagement] if interested or have any suggestions. Thanks a lot.
Message was edited by: SCN ModeratorThis is not the appropriate place for posting availbility for jobs; BUT, we could still make this a useful thread.
We have many folks post that they've graduated from college and would LIKE to get a chance to learn some SAP, but can't seem to get that initial break.
How did you manage to get picked up on a real project straight out of college? Were you recruited directly while you were still in school? Was this a paid position? An internship? Did you have any SAP training prior to getting the job? If not, did you receive any training after getting the job?
Please tell us more as there are many, many folks on this forum that would love to be in your shoes.
So...
as far as finding sponsorship for H1B visa...
Let me sugest a different way to approach this which is actually allowable in this forum.
If you ask... "What is the best way to get H1B sponsorship for US VISA?" Then you might get some useful answers.
My suggestion is to google "H1B sponsorship SAP",
When you do that, you'll get a bunch of links for job openings from companies willing to sponsor H1B visas.
There are other ways to do this as well.
I have heard (but do not have direct experience) about companies that will sponsor your visa as an "employer of record" (EOR). This requires a bit of explanation. I am a US citizen and use a company (which doesn't sponsor H1B visas) as an employer of record. (In Europe, they call this umbrella corporation, I believe). The way it works, is that I am essentially an independent contractor. I drum up my own business as a freelance consultant. Once I've lined up the gig, the EOR handles all of the billing, invoicing, collections, and payroll. They make sure all of the correct taxes are withheld, etc. I also have access to their insurances (errors & omisions, liability, etc) which is generally required of independent consultants as well as benefits like long term disability, short term disability, life insurance, etc. I used to use their health insurance as well, but now I use insurance that I purchased through the "Obamacare" health exchange.
For the privilege, the EOR takes a percentage of your gross revenues. In my case, it's quite reasonable. In the case of an H1B sponsor EOR, my guess is they take a pretty big chunk.
Anyway, I wish you luck on your search. Please post your resume on an appropriate job board (Monster, Dice, indeed, etc) and LinkedIn for future job search actions.
Hope this helps!
Best regards,

Not sure to get into BI or not, analysing how difficult it is
Hello friends,
Please provide some information to make an informed decision.
I am currently working as a SAP Operator where my duties include
Monitoring the SAP systems (sm37,db02,sm66,su01) majority of them being BASIS transactions
XI monitoring via SXMB_MONI, checking inbound and outbound queues (smq1, smq2)
Although my question has nothing to do with my job responsibilities, I wanted you to know my work experience
I have 3 months of some experience in SAP SD end user .
The other day I told my friend I intend to do SAP SD certification to work as an SD consultant and he goes why dont you get into BI, as it is very much in demand which made me thinking that he is right.
He justified it by telling SD has been since long and BI sits on Net weaver platform which is a new technology probably around 2003.
In an article by Jon reed he recommends it as a hot skill to have for 2008
My question is
What skills should one have to be a good BI Consultant (like good logic, understanding etc)
How technical is BI
Is programming involved with BI?
Is it too difficult or you could get along with it in time?
What is your recommendation and suggestion?
Thanks heaps for reading the above .Hi Rasiq,
Warm Welcome to BW...
What skills should one have to be a good BI Consultant (like good logic, understanding etc)?
-->BW Consultant should be able to understand the Business first and then he should be capable in create/maintain Business logics. The main thing is he/she should understand the Functionality of the Business well and Implement the same with his BI skills.
How technical is BI?
-->BI is both technical and functional one. One should develop logic how to generate reports based on the implementation of the business. You need to write some ABAP routines which help your work more effective.
Is programming involved with BI?
--> Yes, Programming is involved in BI. As i said, ABAP routines play major part in BI. You need not to know much about ABAP but little knowledge about that is necessary.
Is it too difficult or you could get along with it in time?
--> One may face difficulty during initial stages but if they get command over the tool, you can have Fun at work. You can easily cope up with the tool as you have some experience in SAP other modules.
What is your recommendation and suggestion?
I suggest you to attend BI Training by SAP Labs which helps you the most and you can get the most of it. The duration of the training will be 5 Weeks if you go for the whole BI. For time being, refer the below URL's which helps u lot.
First you need to concentrate on Modelling part. For that i hope these links will helps you.

Newbie question - Is it worth getting into SAP ?
Seeing as this is still the only forum where a "Post New Thread" button is locatable, here's my opening question.
I understand it takes study, certification and some years of experience to become a sought-after commodity in SAP.
As an underpaid (never above $A40K) and under-employed IT worker over the past ten years, I've noticed that every time a SAP job is advertised, the salary is quite impressive. The most recent position, for a SAP Consultant, offered $A120K.
To those of you who have been SAPping for a few years :
Are you and your skills in demand in the job marketplace ?
Do you receive reasonable or high pay ?
What combination of study and experience (and connections ?) did it take to reach your current position ?
For someone with broad IT experience, do you consider SAP worth getting into and, if so, by what route do you recommend entry ?
That'll do for a starthi andrew,
Are you and your skills in demand in the job marketplace ?
Yes, SAP is hot these days, and will be for some years to come.
Do you receive reasonable or high pay ?
When compared to other fields and technical domains, the answer is yes.
What combination of study and experience (and connections ?) did it take to reach your current position ?
You need to have reasonable amount of IT exposure (which you have....!!!!) and a working expeirence in the functional domain is a must to rise. Technical expertise would boost your career great guns. Though after 2- 4 years in SAP , it is preferable to be a functional guy.
For someone with broad IT experience, do you consider SAP worth getting into and, if so, by what route do you recommend entry ?
Yes, it depends upon your type of IT experience. IF you have a good functional experience (say in domains like manufacturing, sales, or finance) pick up a functional module study hard go for certification, and you are there in SAP world.
With technical expertise you need to have good ABAP knowledge, and with netweaver these days JAVA would also do, but with SAP having abap knowledge always helps.
Same route here, study hard and go for certification and gian hands on experience.....and you are there to rock...!!!!
Hope this answers your questions, Do reward -
Can't get into my DE anymore after nvidia/nouveau switch + other stuff
I made a mess of things, and I'd very much like to get my system back into a normal state. Here's a brief history of important events:
(1) About 2 weeks ago after a system update, I couldn't log into Gnome via GDM anymore (see topic). Thankfully I could still get into Gnome via 'startx', so I stuck with that for a while. Busy time, and no real fix was forthcoming.
(2) About 4 days ago after a system update, that didn't work anymore either. (Both monitors would just stay black, but with a thick white bar on the left side of the right monitor.)
(3) I switched from binary nvidia drivers to nouveau, in the hope that that would fix things. It did, sort of. I could use startx again, but my display would now freeze after a short time of use, with many nouveau related errors in dmesg. My bug report to freedesktop.org about this is most comprehensive.
I really need a functional PC right now. Short of an actual fix, I'd love to just roll back everything to the state it was a month ago or so. But no luck there either.
(4) I installed the nvidia drivers again, uninstalled the nouveau stuff, set my system to query the Arch Rollback Machine for a month ago, and did a `pacman -Syyuu --force`. GDM still doesn't work, nor does startx. Using startx, I get the following 'Xorg.0.log' (I remember getting the same errors during my earlier messing about):

I might try that, though now that I finally have my PC back I have some other work that takes priority for a few days. :-)
Malkymder wrote:And yes xorg.conf should be replaced with /etc/xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia.conf instead
I'm using `nvidia-xconfig` to generate that file (I haven't had to tinker with it manually for years now).
The tool generates this 'deprecated' file. Should I just move its exact content to the new location? -
I've screwed everything up, I think. I had Time Machine doing backups to an external 500Gig drive and somehow it got locked. I went into Get Info to try and change the access but it won't allow me. On top of this problem, my original drive died and I can't get into Time Machine to restore. When I click "Enter Time Machine", nothing happens. I created an eDisk and a startup disk to another external drive that I'm using now, but since everything that's been backed up is on the other drive that I can't access. When I try accessing the drive it gives: "The folder “G-DRIVE ” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents." I'm not knowledgeable enough to work from the command line, so if I need to do that to access the drive, please walk me though it. As for the Time Machine problem, I have no idea how to recover anything since it won't even come up, it just sits there. Outside of blowing my brains out, I don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can't afford to take it to Apple to let them try and fix it.
Hello, not sure how this might affect a TM drive, or not, but...
Here is what i needed to do for my drive "320GB HD", the last command is just for clean up
Open Terminal and type these commands carefully with the spaces & change 320GB HD to the name of your drive.
sudo chflags 0 "/volumes/320GB HD"
sudo chown root "/volumes/320GB HD"
sudo chmod 1775 "/volumes/320GB HD"
sudo -k
That said, these should be sufficient to do the job:
sudo chflags 0 "/Volumes/320GB HD"
sudo chmod a+rx "/Volumes/320GB HD" -

FI_GL LOAD GETTING INTO SHORTDUMP "SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC"
Hi Experts,
We have FI_GL DTP load from datasource PSA to DSO, this was loading sucessfully till 25 of JUNE. From 28 th of June this load is getting into short dump "SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC"but surprisingly when i repeat this step the load getting successfull. please let me know how can i stop this Shortdump in future.
thanks in advance
please see the below deatiled shortdump message.
Runtime Errors SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC
Exception CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB
Date and Time 07.07.2010 04:15:51
Short text
The ABAP/4 Open SQL array insert results in duplicate database records.
What happened?
Error in the ABAP Application Program
The current ABAP program "SAPLSDDO" had to be terminated because it has
come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
What can you do?
Note down which actions and inputs caused the error.
To process the problem further, contact you SAP system
administrator.
Using Transaction ST22 for ABAP Dump Analysis, you can look
at and manage termination messages, and you can also
keep them for a long time.
Error analysis
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB', was not caught
in
procedure "DD_DTEL_SET_PUT" "(FUNCTION)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING
clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
If you use an ABAP/4 Open SQL array insert to insert a record in
the database and that record already exists with the same key,
this results in a termination.
(With an ABAP/4 Open SQL single record insert in the same error
situation, processing does not terminate, but SY-SUBRC is set to 4.)
How to correct the error
Use an ABAP/4 Open SQL array insert only if you are sure that none of
the records passed already exists in the database.
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
keywords:
"SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC" "CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB"
"SAPLSDDO" or "LSDDOU08"
"DD_DTEL_SET_PUT"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and want to send an error
notification to SAP, include the following information:
1. The description of the current problem (short dump)
To save the description, choose "System->List->Save->Local File
(Unconverted)".
2. Corresponding system log
Display the system log by calling transaction SM21.
Restrict the time interval to 10 minutes before and five minutes
after the short dump. Then choose "System->List->Save->Local File
(Unconverted)".
3. If the problem occurs in a problem of your own or a modified SAP
program: The source code of the program
In the editor, choose "Utilities->More
Utilities->Upload/Download->Download".
4. Details about the conditions under which the error occurred or which
actions and input led to the error.
The exception must either be prevented, caught within proedure
"DD_DTEL_SET_PUT" "(FUNCTION)", or its possible occurrence must be declared in
the
RAISING clause of the procedure.
To prevent the exception, note the following:

IHi,
This error due to that you are inserting duplicate records into DSO Key fields.
Check your record in PSA and remove duplicate reocrds from PSA and try to run transformation again or you need to change primary key of your DSO to fit PSA data.
Thank you,
Regards,
Govind. -
Hello Gurus,
I am trying to setup 2lis_06_inv but i am not able to understand why i am not able to get any records in the setup table. The job shows finished in few seconds.
What can be the possible reason for this?
I activated the datasource using RSA5. I setup the Update Mode to 'Direct Delta' in LBWE ( Extraction Cockpit). I deleted the data in the setup table and then ran the OLI6BW tcode and gave tomorrow's date for finishing the job and then ran the job. The job shows finished in a few seconds but no data gets into the setup tables.
Error message in log says:
Recompilation has not selected anything -> Refer to error log
Message no. MRBW015
Diagnosis
This error message was issued for one of the following reasons:
No documents exist
No selection criteria were entered
BW updating has not been activated
Any help is deeply appreciated.Hi,
Check table RBEX on R/3 side whether any entries exists in that or not.

Thanksvapin,
Search for online training institutes on the net. Each of these gives a demo. By attending the demo make a selection of the institute.
On Youtube too, there are lots of SD training videos. Check those.
TW
Added: A good trainer will have the following:
1 - give business examples, to explain functionalities
e.g. intercompany sale process: the process from his experience, what are the key benefits to business etc.
IMP: Functional consultant is first about understanding the business process and second about configuration etc. in SAP
2 - patience
he should not be reluctant to answer your questions properly
he should sense how you are understanding the concepts, and take necessary actions
3 - mentor
what should be your next steps - how to prepare SD, how to prepare your resume, how to prepare for interviews etc. etc.

hi,
i have a problem, please give the answer anybody, i want know about login information, where we have to login on system, tell me about soluation manage, if thereis no solution manger where we have to loging, and what is sap fico consultant role day to day and project delivery, everyday where we have to update what we have done, where the mange will assign the work, and how we can identify, and after what we haveto do
please tell me the answers about these
baiHi
Solution manager is used for recording issue logs if any user face issue in production client. This will enable to maintain record of each & every issue log in proper manner.
As regards login into SAP, we require to install SAP GUI & also fill client's system details like Description, System number, Id, Server number, Router (for remote login) in new item in SAP logon pad.
As regards SAP FICO Consultant, the main role is in creation of GL account master data & other configuration activities. All other module integration takes place by specifying GL accounts in their config. For ex: In MM, in OBYC, we specify GL accounts for inventory postings. While configuring SAP FICO Steps, it may so happen, we may forget some steps to configure. These steps can be done if some error comes in end user cycle. -

Anil.Hi,
I am not sure about the error message!!. The possible case is the user might have change his oracle password... like with spaces or %20 (eg. emq K96 is kind of password In web automatically this will be turned into emq%k96,
. As per the report server the password is wrong while the user submit the job. This error won't occur while user connecting to the Oracle forms. But in the report server thru URL user trying to submitting the details.!!!).
One of my user have this kind problem!!!>
He is able to connect the forms but while he submit the job either he got the page cannot found error/ Report submission error.
This case is applicable only if you are using Oracle web forms/ reports.
This may be helpfull to you!!!
Cheers,
Nats
