deleted songs on my iPod when sync with new Mac - ups! However all songs are still on my iPad library. Can I sync with iPad to get all song back?

You can use the transfer purchases feature to put the songs back into iTunes from the iPad - as long as the songs were purchased from iTunes.
Connect the iPad, launch iTunes and then right click on the iPad name under devices and select Transfer Purchases. But ..... Before you do that - turn off auto sync first.
Launch iTunes and the go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing Automatically. Check the box at the bottom that says that. Then click OK. Then you can connect the iPad to the new Mac to transfer the purchases.
This will only work for music purchased from iTunes. If you have music ripped from CD's, you will need a third party app - like TouchCopy.
You can also download the songs again in iTunes as long as you use the same Apple ID. But read this about downloading past purchases as there are some restrictions based on where you live.

No not bothered about sycing apps etc it is all about calendars and maybe notes. IN terms of how its done I just want it the easiest way and preferably so that if an entry is made on one calendar then it populates the other.
Thgius is beacuse I have my work diary on outlok, which I then link with my ical. I want to make sure that information is then shared with her.

  • I have a lot of old contacts I want to delete that are on all my devices. If I delete them on my iPad and then sync with my mac, will this delete the contacts on my mac too?

I have a lot of old contacts I want to delete that are on all my devices. If I delete them on my iPad and then sync with my mac, will this delete the contacts on my mac too? And then if I sync my iPhone with my mac will this delete the contacts on my iPhone?

    Yes.
If you don't want that to happen, then don't select the "Sync Contacts" option on your next sync.

  • Getting iPhone to sync with new mac (from old PC) and add device to iTunes

I recently brought a macbook pro 8.1.  I was able to transfer my itunes library using the imatch, however I have not been able to add my iphone into my itunes in able to sync.  I still have to connect with my old PC in order to sync my music (that was imported by CD's).  I have searched through the support options from apple support, but there's only information on how to add a NEW device to the itunes library.  When I have tried sync'ing my phone with my new mac itunes, there's a message that pops up stating I cannot sync 1 device with 2 computer itunes libraries.  What I'm getting at...is there anyway I can move my device from my old PC itunes to my new mac itunes before my PC dies??  HELP!

I believe we're having the same issue. I posted a question yesterday and I've gotten some helpful answers. I will stay posted to your thread as well to see if your issue is resolved. Sorry that I couldn't be of any help. :-)

  • IPod Touch won't sync with new Mac

I just replaced my laptop with a new Mac, we transferred the music, and our library so that all our old playlists are present, and I went to sync my iPod (knowing the first time it would erase my music, videos, etc...), but instead I get an error message saying I don't have enough memory on my iPod.  I have gone through and check the "manually manage music and videos" and the bar across the bottom shows I should have enought space (content is less than 28 gigs), but I still get the same error message.  Is the new machine trying to load the "new" content over my existing content?

I did the restore a second time and I'm still getting the same message.  For some reason, the computer is wanting to load the music library onto my iPod without erasing the existing music.  Is there some advanced setting I need to look at to fix this?

  • Keep (the same) folder content in sync with another mac

    Hi all,
Me and a friend of mine work on the same project. We have one folder with all our files and subdirectory in each of our mac. We want to keep the work on both folder synced.
    How we can do this?
What happens if we modify the same file?
    Thanks in advance,
    Filippo

If you have a dotmac account you could use syncing to keep the files in sync with each other.
You would have to turn on iDisk Syncing. Then put the files you are working on in that folder.
Sync the other machine with iDisk and then have iDisk Syncing switched on on that machine too but have one machine set up as the 'Master' and one Machine setup to sync Manually. The Master Machine should sync whenever any file changes and then you can get in touch with your friend and tell him when to sync, as syncing automatically with two machines, they might both sync at the same time causing an error.
When the other machine does a 'Manual' sync the files which have been replaced or updated will be changed to the new ones. He could sync manually when he has worked on a file too and on yours it would update automatically.
You would have to have a very good method in place and keep in contact regularly but I think that would work. That is if the machines are not in the same building? I assume their not as you would just have them shared on the Network wouldn't you?

  • Syncing with new mac, please advise

Hi. I currently sync my iphone with a G5, which i'm now selling. What is the procedure for syncing with a brand new mac? What do i need to do to make the switch over?
Obviously i don;t want to lose all my contacts, etc thats all i'm concerned about.
    Thank you

Ideally, you should move your data from your old Mac to your new Mac directly. Since you're moving from a PPC-based Mac to an Intel-based Mac, I'd personally recommend against using Migration Assistant. Instead, you can move your files (including calendars, mail accounts, etc.) by following the detailed instructions in this User Tip:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=435350
When you connect to the new Mac, your iTunes-managed media content will be replaced - that includes music, videos, ringtones, apps, and pictures. Items on the Info tab (contacts, calendars) will be synced as well - if the corresponding apps on the new Mac (iCal, Address Book) are completely empty, the data on the iPhone will be deleted. Thus, you're best bet is to have those data moved over as described above. Alternatively, if you create one new calendar entry and one new contact (make them up), you'll be prompted to choose to Replace or Merge the data - choose Merge and the contacts/events will be transferred from the iPhone to the new Mac.
Hole this helps, and good luck!

  • Having problem getting iPad 1 to sync with my PC

Having trouble getting the iPad my son in law gave me to sync with my PC

    Jimhatl wrote:
This time it says it syncs in 3 steps, but nothing transfers from my PC - like contacts, bookmarks, etc - to the ipad.
Nothing at all? So you have apps or songs in iTunes that you used to sync to the old iPad? If so, did you try syncing them to the iPad that your son gave you?
Connect the iPad to your PC and let iTunes do its thing. After it "syncs", click on the iPad name under the devices heading in the left sidebar. If you don't see the sidebar, go to View>Show Sidebar from the iTunes menus at the top. Then click on the Info Tab at the top of the iTunes window on the right and see if the contacts and bookmarks are selected to sync. Do the same with all of the other tabs in iTunes....apps, music, photos...whatever you had been syncing to the old iPad.

  • Can't get Entourage calendar to sync with new iTouch

I am trying to Sync my Entourage calendar from my Mac to my new iTouch. I've marked the Entourage box in iTunes Info but that just seems to bring up an Entourage file inside of iCal which I never use and seems to be corrupted with random and massively duplicated items. Is there any way to sync Entourage calendar?

I know that there's an Apple Support article on this somewhere, but I don't have the link saved.
Here's an article from Entourage that may help a little:
    http://www.entourage.mvps.org/syncservices/basics.html
Basically, you have to let Mac OS's built in Sync Services allow Entourage to sync with iCal and then iCal will sync with the touch.
I personally never do anything in iCal either, but successfully have everything in my Entourage calendar on my iPod Touch because I let iCal be the go-between.

  • Sync with new mac and received 6xx conflict alert on calendar and notes

I would like to have my iphone sync with my new mbp instead of my imac.
I transferred the itunes library, mobilesync folder, itunes folder, addressbook and ical data from imac to macbook open.
When I opened the addressbook, ical, notes, everything looks fine and they are showing up to date details.
When I sync with my iphone, I received an alert from the sync regards to about 600 new item add onto my calendar and they are deleting 6xx item. most of them are either a few minutes different or a day different.
If the ical calendar is from the same backup file as iphone used to sync with, why will there be such a numbers of conflict?
In terms of note, when I tried to modify my notes either on iphone or mbp, instead of updating the existing file, it will generate a few file.
Is there any way to fix the issue? Or can I restore my address book and ical to a fresh status so I can just sync the iphone detail onto them to avoid the conflict?
Many thanks for all your help

Syncing doesn't touch your camera roll except to include the photos and videos in the backup created during the syncing process.  But if you want to be safe, without connecting your phone, go to iTunes>Preferences, on the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically".  Now you can connect your phone to your new mac without syncing and import your camera roll photos and videos to iPhoto (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083).  This will not transfer non-camera roll photos; if you need to transfer these you might want to either stream them to your mac (if you're running OS X Lion) using Photo Stream (see http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/mac.html) or use an app like PhotoSync to wirelessly send them to your mac.
As far as contacts, I'm not familiar with iDrive Lite, but if you want to transfer you contacts to Address Book on your new mac you might want to use the app My Contacts Backup.  This will back up your contacts as an attachment to an email.  Send the email to yourself, open it on your mac and double-click the attachment to import your contacts to Address Book.
Next, you'll need to import all your music into your new iTunes library from your external drive prior to syncing.  Music purchased from iTunes, along with apps and other purchased media can be transferred from your phone to your iTunes library by following the steps outlined in this guide: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141.  Take special care to have at least one event in iCal prior to syncing, which will trigger a merge or replace prompt when you sync; when you see this choose merge.

  • How can I get my iPod to sync with my Mac (running OS X 10.5.8) if I don't want to upgrade my Mac to OS X 10.6.8?

I just tried to sync my iPod and got the message that I have to update iTunes, but my Mac is running OS X 10.5.8. I wouldn't have updated the OS on my iPod if I had known this would be a problem. Any suggestions on how I can get my devices to sync again without updating my Mac OS?

I just updated ITunes to 10.5.2.11 and when I tried to sync with my Ipad - it said that it could not because I did not have "Apple Mobile Device Service" started.
What the heck is that - I synced just fine before the update.
    Help.
    Thanks
