  • Can anyone tell me how to get Ipod music to computer when not in liberary

I dont want to loose the music I loaded on the ipod and
want to transfer all the music to another parties ipod. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

We have three ipods. One is my son's, one is my daughters and the other belongs to my husband. My husband put over 300 CD's on the ipod. He took it all off the Library and moved it directly to his Ipod as the computer did not have enough memory to keep it on ipod library. Now, the kids want his CD's on their ipods and we can not figure out how to move the CD's to it.
    Can you help?

  • Transfer Ipod music to computer?

I have an older Ipod touch with music that is not on my computer. How do i transfer the music from my ipod to my computer?

    Hi, Corashowers
You can't transfer iPod music to computer directly. Because the music files is designed from computer to iPod one-way. Now all you need is an appropriate iPod Transfer.
You can check this guide: How to Transfer Music from iPod to Computer. Hope this detailed guide can provide enough information you need.

  • New laptop..how do i get ipod music to music on itunes

hi,i just got a new laptop and i need to know if there is a way to get the music on your ipod that you havent bought from itunes but have got from a 3rd party onto your computer.

Apple doesn't have that functionality. You will need to use a third party ipod to pc copy utility like [copytrans|http://www.copytrans.net/iphone-ipod-touch-backup.php]. I'm sure there are many, I'm just familiar with that one.
    Hope that helps!

  • New hard drive - how do I get ipod music onto pc

Ok, I know, I know I should have backed up more frequently etc etc.....but hindsight is a wonderful thing!
Basically my hard drive has crashed and I have had to completely replace it. Obviously my itunes on my pc is now completely empty but my ipod has 20GB worth of songs on it..........
....therefore, my question is, how can I populate the itunes library on my new pc with the songs currently only stored on my ipod??

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    iRepo Mac and Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • PC crashed b4 good backup of iTunes - how 2 get ipod music back on PC?

Before we could get a good backup of all my son's iTunes music, the hard drive crashed on the PC. The bad sectors are where his music was so we have no way of recovering from the PC. Is there a way to get the music from his iPod color (30gb) from the iPod to iTunes on the rebuilt PC?

Or you can go in (letter of the driver):\iPod_Control\Music. To see the iPod_Control folder, You must have the hidden folders option off. If it is near of what i'm trying to explain, you should see 50 folders From F00 to F49. Copy and paste them in your computer. I did this(using Windows) And it took me about an hour for 2 000 or so songs. Hope it'll help you!

  • How to get iPod music to my iTunes...

Ok ill start from the beginning. I had to restart my file on my computer because my Photoshop wasn't working. So everything went. Now I'm trying to get all of my music from my iPod to my iTunes, if I sync, I'll lose it all. And when I try to find the files via My Computer, the computer registers it as a digital camera, so I can't just copy the folder from there. I've tried using Discover but that was a waste of my time. Is there any other way of getting my music to iTunes?

This is from the iPod touch user guide and it tells you how to get music purchased from iTunes on your touch to your computer.
    Syncing Purchased Content
iTunes automatically syncs songs, albums, podcasts, and applications you’ve
downloaded or purchased on iPod touch to your iTunes library when you connect
iPod touch to your computer. This lets you listen to the downloads on your computer
and provides a backup if you delete applications or purchased content from
    iPod touch.
Songs are synced to the “Purchased on <name of your iPod touch>” playlist. iTunes
creates the playlist if it doesn’t exist. iTunes also copies your purchases to the
Purchased playlist that iTunes uses for purchases you make on your computer, if that
playlist exists and is set to sync with iPod touch.
Downloaded podcasts are synced to the Podcast list in your iTunes library.
Downloaded applications are backed up the next time you sync with iTunes.
Afterwards, only application data is backed up when you sync with iTunes.
Applications are synced to the Applications list in your iTunes library. iTunes creates
the list if it doesn’t exist.
    Not sure about nonpurchased music.

    Brendan,
These links will give you several methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring playlists, ratings, playcounts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are many various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search for them if the links below leave you wanting…
Don King Resurrected: Deleted files from hard drive (free user steps – music recovery only)
MacMuse: Computer Crashed (free user steps – music recovery only)
Copying music from iPod to computer (a primer on various methods and software)

    iPodRip Software
    PodUtil Software
XPlay (Software For Music Recovery &/or Cross-Platform Functionality)
XPlay Photo Browser (For recovering Photos)
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation.
You need at least three sets of your music:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and the computer is not considered having any backup. If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer, then create and maintain two external sets.
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?

  • Problem transferring iPod music to Computer

My hard drive went out before I could back up the music I had collected on it.
My iPod Nano 2Gig still has some of my most listened to music.
I have researched the instructions regarding transferring music from iPod to Mac, but it does not work for me.
the instructions say to open the iPod, drag the iTunes folder out on to the desktop.
However, the iPod does not show an iTunes folder when opened.
It does show calendar, games etc, but not iTunes or any songs at all.
    Any ideas or help?
    Thanks!

The iPod folder is hidden so you need to either use a command line instruction to unhide it or a utility such as Tinker Tool. I want to know how to keep all my songs already on there but still be able to add new songs from this computer. Can anyone help?

    Hey,
If you still haven't figured out or erased all songs . You can do this.
    1) Connect your shuffle to PC (Assuming windows)
    2) Enable view hidden files and folder
    3) You should now see ipod_Control folder on your ipod disk in drive menus (my computer).
    4) Copy this ipod control folder on to PC.
    5) This folder has all your songs. in a folder Music.
    6) To import this to your new pc..Goto properties..Uncheck Hidden..and import it on your new iTunes library.

  • How to get ipod songs on computer

My old computer crashed, so i had to get a new one. All my ipod songs that were on itunes got deleted. How can i get them back and put them on my iphone?

If the songs are on your iPod, you won't be able to use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer (except for songs purchased by you from the iTunes Store).  However, there are third-party utilities that allow transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your computer, add them to the new computer's iTunes library, then sync it to your iPhone.
