Getting iPod OUT of diskmode!!! HELP!

hey all,
i have a 40 gig iPod with a bunch of music on it. Unfortunately, my iPod has more space than my laptop computer, so i've been forced to put music on my iPod via iTunes, and then delete the music from iTunes, but keeping it on my iPod with my preferences set to "Manage Music Manualy". Lately, my iPod has been freezing. then, when i reboot it, it boots into disk mode, making it impossible for me to play my music!!! so my first thought is to un-check "Enable Disk Mode" in iTunes preferences. However, the option is gray and unchangable, in my preferences windows, so long as i have it set to "Manually Manage Music". However, since i have more music on my iPod than in iTunes, i can't change it to "Automatically Update All Songs and Playlists" without loosing a bunch of music off of my iPod. Any suggeestions for how to fix this problem?! Thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
David

Hey, David, I'm Stan. I'll tell you what I can. My iPod is the old, 20GB click wheel iPod. No colour, no photos, it has solitaire, brick, and the music quiz.
My iPod (currently suffering from the apple logo/sad face problem) goes out of disk mode whenever I hook it up to my computer. It reverts back to its malfunctioning state.
The traditional way to get out of disk mode (and diagnostic mode) is to press and hold (holding down simutaneously) botht the "MENU" button and the middle Select button. Hold these two down for a few seconds (let's say 6 to 10), then the screen should show a line, as if resetting, for a brief moment, then you should see the apple logo. After that, depending on your iPod's current status, it'll revert to normal, or revert back to the sad face, in my case.
Hope this helped.
peace

  • Losing hope on being able to get ipod out of recovery mode.

I have tried evrything I have found to do. Disable firewall and antivirus, watched multiple tutorial videos on how to get it out of recovery mode, tried(and failed) DFU mode. Just  nohing seems to work. I coninue to get errors when I try to contact update servers, and when I don't get the errors at first and it begins to update and restore, it'll get partially through, then give me an error. I just want my iPod back. It's been 3 long boring days of trying to do the same thing. Please help, anyone.

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.

  • IOS 5 update forced ipod touch into recovery mode which I can't get it out of! Help please!

Hi, I recently updated my ipod touch 3rd gen to ios5 (as prompted by itunes - assumed a standard software update). Immediately afterwards, my ipod went into recovery mode, and initially itunes recognised this and tried to restore it unsuccessfully. Not any more! Now it is either off, or displays the 'connect to itunes' logo when I connect it to the computer via USB lead.
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing itunes but this hasn't helped it recognise the ipod.
I don't think I've managed to go 3 months without having to do something like reinstall the drivers etc on this ipod, don't know why i expected this update to be any different!
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance!

Try disabling all security software and firewalls, then try again.
Or try from a different computer.
This error is a pain in the butt and a new issue, too. I'm sorry.

  • Helping getting ipod out of recovery mode

i was updating my ipod touch to iOS 4.3 and it said there was an error at the end, and now my ipod is in recovery mode. itunes is telling me to restore it. i dont want to loose my data because if i restore i will loose everything. is there a way to save my settings???

The first part of an update is that itunes makes a backup like it normally does during syncing. You can find the date of the backup by going to the Device tab in iTunes' Preferences. If other items that are not in the backup like music and video, all you have to do is to restore from backup and sync,

  • Unknown error (1604) occured when trying to get Ipod out of recovery.

I installed the new version of Itunes yesterday, and that went fine, but when I went to restore my ipod, it sent it into recovery mode, and no matter what I do, I can't get it to come out.
In order for the Ipod to even show that it is connected to Itunes, I need to restart my entire computer, and then plug in the USB connector.
That works; however, when I go to restore it, I gets to the "Preparing Ipod for recovery" stage, and sits there for maybe 5 minutes, then the error window comes up, saying "an unknown error has occured" (1604)
I have tried all the steps that has been reccomended to me by the Apple techs, and still nothing happens.
I would greatly appreciate any help with this. :S

  • TS1441 How to get ipod out of recovery mode without erasing everything?

All I did was plug in my ipod to update it to 6.1 and then it somehow got into recovery mode, and I don't want all my bookmarks and pictures to be erased! I plugged it into the exact same computer I always do. Somehow when itunes opened though it acted like it was a new program...when it wasnt.

Finish the recovery and then restore from your backup.

  • HT1222 having problems updating my i pad , it crashed half way though updateing now my i pad is in recoverey mode and carnt get it out of it help please

i have been trying to update my i pad, while i was updating it crashed and now my i pad is in the recovery mode and i am unable to do anything at all please help

That is the standard message when you click restore.
You can try a reset but I am not confident it will do anything besides go roight back into Recovery Mode.
Unplug your phone from the cable then hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons and don’t let go until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears.
Typicaly it goes into Recovery Mode when it can no longer boot indicating there is a problem with the operating system.

  • Shoot i got my memory card in my cd slot how do i get it out

how do i get it out?please help!

Guys, it has to be fairly new if it has a memory card reader!
Perhaps Mr Ives and company should reconsider putting the memory card reader slot just below the ODD slot. I am sure that many folks try to insert discs and memory card by feel alone.
sdfsddfgssdg, you may do some damage fishing around in the ODD looking for something as small as a memory card. Then any damage to your ODD would not be covered by warranty. Best to pay the price of your error and have it looked at by a pro.
