Getting ipv4 loop-back address on a pure ipv6 solaris machine

import java.net.*;
public class x {
public static void main (String [] args) {
try {
//System.setProperty("java.net.preferIPv4Stack", "false");
//InetAddress ia= InetAddress.getByName("::1");
InetAddress ia= InetAddress.getByName(null);
//InetAddress ia= InetAddress.getLocalHost();
System.out.println(ia.getHostName());
System.out.println(ia.getHostAddress());
ServerSocket ss= null;
ss = new ServerSocket(7833,1,ia);
} catch(Exception e){
e.printStackTrace();
The above program generates the following exception.
Machine: pure ipv6
OS : SunOS uni6505l1-sun1 5.10 Generic sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440
I never had any ipv4 address listed when I did ifconfig -a, nor I have any ipv4 address in my /etc/hosts or /etc/hostname6.*

Actually this is a part of my bigger problem with Tomcat6, which tries to listen on hard-coded ipv4 loop-back address for its shutdown port. As my machine is pure IPv6, or at least has above configuration, it fails to create a socket on 127.0.0.1, but, the above program returns me a 127.0.0.1 if I call InetAddress.getByName(null).
My question is, why is it returning 127.0.0.1, when I never had it as my loop-back address, I had ::1 configured.
Thanks,

Accoridng to my expereince, JDK 5/6 maybe uses 127.0.0.1 when creating the serversocket.
I tried it on a Windows 2008 RC box. If I disable the IPv4 by "netsh interface ipv4 uninstall" so that "127.0.0.1" is not accessible, I can not create the ServerSocket any more.
However, If I disable the IPv4 by unchecking the IPv4 stack in the network property so that "127.0.0.1" is still accessible, the Serversocket can work for me.
You can try to enable the "127.0.0.1" on your Sun box and run your code again.
I also find that this issue may be fixed in JDK 7 beta. You can also try the JDK 7 beta with your code.
http://bugs.sun.com/view_bug.do?bug_id=6379550
It is known that JDK 5/6 has big issues on Windows Vista/2008 because of the IPv6 implementation. I am wondering whether Sun OS has the similar problem.

    "Where do I find my hundreds of dollars of downloads I have done since 2005?"
    They will only be where you put them  If you are doing the very basics, then they will be on your computer and they will be in your backup copy of your computer.
    The itunes store is not global at all, never has been. You cannot redownload your content from another country.  You can only use the countrys itunes store for the country that you are physically located.

  • Do I need to reinstall Logic to get my loops back?

    OK, so I don't know how I did it, but apparently I deleted all my Apple Loops.
    A long while back I was looking around for free loops, and as far as I can tell, when I downloaded them I must have tossed all the old loops from Logic and Garageband. I didn't notice this until now because I don't use loops much.
    So if I want the Apple Loops back do I have to reinstall, or can I get them 'a la carte' from the DVD? I don't want to even put the DVD in if it means I'm going to lose everything I have there now. (channel strips, preferences, etc.)
    thanks,
    Jim

    Based on the fact that I have NONE of the factory loops left I don't think this is what I did. I can't locate certain loops that I know were there with Spotlight, (for instance the Motown drum loops); this leads me to believe that they were put in the Trash. Of course I have emptied the Trash about three or four times a week since I did this many months ago.
    What happens if I reinstall Logic? Should I go through and save all of the files that are there now, and then put them back in the right spots later? This seems like a severe pain in the butt, as well as almost guaranteeing a screwup.
    thanks,
    Jim

  • How can I get the tabs back where they belong beneath the address bar , NOT on top ???

    how can I get the tabs back where they belong beneath the address bar , NOT on top ???
    they are on top, which puts the address bar at a variable position depending on how many tab rows exist - makes a moving target for navigating to across my dual 24 inch screens
    I tried your "solution" using about:config and setting browser.tab.on.top or whatever to false, but that had NO effect
    Maybe because TabMixPlus is installed?
    It does allow putting the tabs all the way at the bottom, but I don't like that either.
    PLEASE, give me the address bar at TOP with tabs under that!!!
    Also, I don't want FlashGot to be at the right of the address bar!!!

    why should we use yet another add on to get the tabs back at the bottom? Big mistake.
    Moreover, why make FF look more like Chrome? If I wanted Chrome, i would have installed it long time ago.
    FF 29.0 is NOT an improvement.
    Nasty piece of mud.

  • HT4061 I downloaded an iTunes update on my HP.  PC and restarted the computer for the hangers to take effect. Now my pc is locked up.  It gives me a client Mac address and no boot file name received.  What happened, and how do I get my pc back?

    I downloaded an iTunes update and when ashen I restarted my pc it locked up.  It says client Mac address 001320bead25,   PXE E53  No boot file name received.  PXE MOF.  Exiting Broadcom pie rom.   How do I get my pc back!

    When you installed iTunes on your work computer, then connected your iPad to that computer, it wiped what was on the iPad, then put the iTunes library (nothing) from the work computer onto the iPad. You can try copying the iTunes folder from your home computer over to your work computer, but since the apps were bought with a different account, they may not load or update properly.

  • Getting a FLV to loop back toward a specific frame using Netstream (as3)

    To preface this my knowledge of AS3 is quite novice. As the thread titled reads, I'm trying to get an FLV to play through it's entireity and then loop back towards a specific frame and keep replaying from the point endlessly. After a lot of digging I found a video tutorial using AS3 that worked! Here's my situation now though, I cannot find the right code to insert to make the video loop back to the frame that I want. The FLV just stops and doesnt rewind at the end of the video. Here is my code so far:
    var video:Video = new Video(1980, 1020);
    addChild(video);
    var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    nc.connect(null);
    var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc);
    var meta:Object = new Object ();
    meta.onMetaData = function (meta: Object)
              trace(meta.duration);
    ns.client = meta;
    video.attachNetStream(ns);
    ns.play("All.flv");
    Ultimately, the video needs to play all the way through only on the first load and then loop back to frame 319 and play toward the end and loop back again to frame 319 infinitely. I think I'm almost there, I just need some assistance with getting my code working appropriately. I done this before using "gotoAndPlay()" but the loop isnt seamless thus it yields a one second pause before looping back. I'm hoping using a Netstream function that this will be resolved. I would appreciate any help!

    Okay let me try and get this checked through you before I attempt to implement what you've recommend for a seamless loot at the aformentioned time in the previous post:
    var video:Video=new Video(1980,1020);
    addChild(video);
    var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    nc.connect(null);
    var ns:NetStream=new NetStream(nc);
    ns.addEventListener(
    var video:Video=new Video(1980,1020);
    addChild(video);
    var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    nc.connect(null);
    var ns:NetStream=new NetStream(nc);
    ns.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,);  <-----not too sure about the rest of the syntax here
    ns.client = this;
    video.attachNetStream(ns);
    ns.play("All.flv");
    function onMetaData(obj:Object):void{
        trace(obj.duration);
    function netStatusF(e:NetStatusEvent):void {
            switch (e.info.code) {
                  case "NetStream.Play.Stop":
                  ns.seek(10.6106);
                  break;
    Hmmm, curious about where the"loop" and ns.time syntax should be placed.

    I just cleared my computer (Macbook Pro 2011) and wanted to reinstall the Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Standard Student ans Teacher Edition (Mac, English) that I bought (near october, november 2011) but my adobe account was no longer activated. Now that I reactivated it, with the same e-mail, this purchase is no longer in this account. So I was wondering:. How can I get my access back to the downloadable products that I bought?

  • Postfix, mail loop back to myself

    Hello. I have tried to set up postfix and dovecot. However, I cant seem to figure out what is causing this error messages when trying to send emails to other local users.
    My servers hostname is aurora.tholden.no
    MX host is aurora.tholden.no
    I have two domains. Tholden.no and srckurs.no
    srckurs.no have two email accounts. Both working fine, and I can send and recve mail between them, and the outside.
    However, for the tholden.no domain, reciving of emails does not work. I can send them though.
    What can be the problem?

  • Cfmail loops back to original form document yet not sending email.

    I had produced a form to be emailed. after one finishes the form and press submit it loops back top the form again, yet i do not get an email. Doen anyone know why this is happening? Below is the code for the original form and below that is code to my action page... Any suggestions would be welcomed..

    When you submit a form, the name of it doesn't matter.  When you process it it's form.this and form.that, not name_of_form.this and name_of_form.that.  In your code, the structure event_request does not exist until the cfparam tags create it.  All of those tags will create variables with empty strings.  Later your code adds a bunch of error messages and doesn't send any mail because of your if/else logic.

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
    There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the request of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
    ☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
    ☞ Paste into the window of another application.
    ☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
    ☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
    The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
    and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
    If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
    to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
    At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with "Model Identifier." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
    If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • TC won't get assigned internal IP address

    I have an Airport Extreme N, a TC dual band and a Airport Express N. For some reason, the AEx (which is plugged in via Ethernet to the cable modem) won't give internal (10.0.x.x) IP address to the TC and Airport Express, which are both set up to extend my network...they are assigned external ip addresses and thus can't be connected to. I can manually assign 10.0.1.8 for example and then the light goes from green to amber. Same for my iPhone, which now says i'm connected to my network, i see no IP address at all has been assigned. Clicking on "renew lease" in any case (TC, AExp, iPhone), doesn't work.

    well now i set it to manually and typed in 10.0.1.8 for the TC because otherwise it was getting assigned a IP address that caused an amber light. Connect Using is "Wireless", and when IPv4 was on "Using DHCP", IP Address was external address 165.254.90.211, Subnet is 255.255.0.0, Router address is 10.0.1.1 (that's the internal IP of the AExt), DNS Servers are 10.0.1.1, Connection Sharing is "Off (Bridge Mode)"
    Interesting though, so I went back to the "Using DHCP", then clicked back on the TC, that first summary window which says an error, shows the IP address still being 10.0.1.8 but, clicking to the Internet Connection window shows the 165 ip address above.

  • Setup Assistant fails during file transfer and loops back to the beginnig

    I have a PPC G5 running 10.4.11 and just bought an Intel-based MacBook Pro. (I haven’t gotten it to fully start up yet, so I’m not sure about the OS.)
    I've tried to use the Setup Assistant to migrate my files and applications from my desktop to the laptop, but when I get to the Transfer Files option, the Users, Applications Folder, and Files and Folders options never finish calculating. Everytime I hit Transfer, a black-and-white wheel appears for less than a second then disappears, and Setup Assistant loops back to the beginning, where I get the multilingual welcome messages and bad music. Or, if I do nothing and wait for the Transfer Files step to calculate, Setup Assistant still just loops back to the beginning.
    I’ve tried the options for transferring from another Mac and from another volume. I’ve tried copying from the G5 in Target Disk Mode and tried copying from a cloned firewire hard drive. I’ve tried using the firewire 400 and 800 ports, different cables. I’ve run DiskWarrior on the G5 and the cloned disc to make sure no disc errors hung up the process. I tried booting into Safe Mode and following that protocol, though it seemed to address a different issue than the one I’m experiencing.
    Any ideas about what I can do? I’d rather do this in Setup Assistant than Migration Assistant, and I really don’t relish the idea of reinstalling all the software I have on the G5 onto the MacBook Pro. (Logic, for example, takes forever to install.)
    Let me know!

    Even if it's a demo, it's unlikely it's got 10.5 on it. Maybe 10.6. I've used the 10.6 SA from Leopard, which ran perfectly with no problems. As for MA, here's one way to go about it, if you can't finish with SA. (Thanks to MonkeyBoy at XYMer's)
    If you choose to use the migration assistant after installing SL to migrate settings over from Tiger, it'll copy over all your data intact from Tiger, as well as use the same account names & passwords.
    What I typically do is choose a dummy name during the installation, then use MA to import the "real" accounts from the old install. After I'm satisfied MA moved over the accounts properly (I've logged into them and used them for a few hours/days and generally feel satisfied with the lack of crashes and similarly "odd" events) then I delete the dummy account.

    This has solved loads of people who have this issue and have used an alternate DNS setting.  Below are instructions for both iPhone OTA and on you Mac
    If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try an OTA (over the air update)
    Change DNS Servers
    Settings -> Wi-Fi
    Click the blue arrow on your connected network
    Delete everything in DNS and replace it with 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220
    Try again
    If this works, you will probably want to remove the WiFi network using "Forget This Network" and then reconnect to it to get your original DNS servers back. Alternatively, make a note of the original DNS servers before deleting them and replace it after you are done.
    If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try through iTunes
    On your Mac
    Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Network.
    Select the network connection service you want to use (such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet, unless you named it something else) from the list, and then click Advanced.
    Click DNS, and then click Add at the bottom of the DNS Servers list. Enter the IPv4 address for the DNS server.
    You can use OpenDNS
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    or
    You can Google Public DNS if you want
    8.8.8.8
    8.8.4.4
    I have actually repointed my routers DNS so all my devices now point to OpenDNS servers

  • Had to restore, now how do i get my stuff back on my phone?

    I hate sounding stupid, but apparently I am. I had to restore my iPhone 3GS to original settings. It said it was going to restore all my contacts, but it did not, it is like a brand new phone. On my iTunes, it shows all my apps, and I'm hoping it still has all my contacts, but how do I get all that back on my phone?
    I knew I was depending way to much on my iPhone, I feel totally lost! Can I get back everything that was on my calendar, etc?

    As mentioned, you should have your contacts backed up on your computer or with a program, such as Address Book for Mac OS X, because they are not backed up with iTunes, even you did backup and restore. It only saves settings, app settings and saved games and that's pretty much it. If you only have the contacts on the iPhone, then you pretty much lost them.

  • If someone has wiped my ipad and changed passwords on icloud how do i get my data back

    if someone has wiped my ipad and changed passwords on icloud how do i get my data back? please could someone help me out thanks

    How did they wipe it?  By using Find My iPad and performing a wipe?  If so, that means they have your icloud ID and password, not a good thing.
    You could try connecting it to iTunes and performing a restore from iCloud.  But if they changed password, then you are out of the loop.  How did they get your password in order to change it?
