Getting iTunes, iPhoto, etc. data from OS 10.4.11 to new iPad2...
Tried searching for this topic, but couldn't narrow down the results to less than 92, so decided to post. So if there is an answer to this, please point me to it.
My main computer has OS 10.4.11. Because there is an important piece a software that will not work on higher OS's, I'm sticking with 10.4.11. I just got my iPad2 yesterday! The newest version of iTunes only works on OS 10.5 and above, so how do I get my iTunes library (including apps, movies, TV shows, pod casts, etc) and my iPhoto library from my OS 10.4.11 machine over to my new iPod2?
Thanks.
Without OS X 10.5.8 Leopard, you cannot run a more recent version of iTunes to sync and use with your iPad.
You're pretty much dead in the water without it.
My advice, instead of trying to find a copy of a retail disk online, try calling apple direct at
1-800-MY APPLE and ask for internal sales.
Apple may still have a stock of Leopard retail disks that they can sell to you and you'll pay Apple's original price of 129.99 plus any shipping costs to Alaska.
This maybe your cheapest way to get a more updated OS X for use with your iPad.
Unfortunately, that's the way it is.
OS X Tiger is almost six years old now.
Unless you can afford a new/newer Mac or you use your wife's MacBook Air, new devices by Apple will start having more recent, modern system requirements.
There's going to come a time when Apple will no longer support 10.5 Leopard and a lot of new/newer software doesn't support older PowerPC Macs any longer.
Anyone still on PowerPC Macs, including me, at some point, will no longer be supported and we'll all be screwed and will have to make a choice of whether to stay on dead computing hardware or purchase a new/newer Mac that will support new and upcoming Apple technologies.

I just got a new phone today the iphone 5c and i plugged it into itunes. i wanted to get all of my data from my iphone 4s but when i synced my phone all of my iphone 3 data was on my new phone how do i get my iphone 4 data on my new phone?
Did you choose the wrong back up? There should be a drop box when you go to "Restore from Back up" in iTunes and your iPhone is plugged in, on the Summary page. Choose the correct back up. If you can't find one, and you still have your device, back up your iPhone 4 again and then choose that back up. Or check for an old iCloud back up if you have one.

How can I get my data from a old iPad to a new iPad using iCloud and not iTunes
How can I get my data from a old iPad to a new iPad using iCloud and not iTunes
Restore from the iCloud backup - assuming that you were backing up to iCloud in the first place. If you weren't using iCloud for backup - then you are out of luck.
If you were backing up to iCloud - you have to erase all contents on the iPad in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings - before you can restore from the iCloud backup.

recently had to purchase a replacement phone a friend of mine had backed up the data on the lost phone to his Mac laptop how do I get that backed up data from the lost iPhone that's on his Mac laptop to my new replacement phone? Please give step by step instructions xoxoxo
And my iTunes sign in is also screwed up... It is underneath my friends email (the one with my backed up data on his Mac laptop) HOW DO I CHANGE THIS SO THAT I CAN DOWNLOAD APP's again...I suspect unless he had some items in iCloud backup then they are gone. Connecting an iPhone to a different library from that to which it was previously connected will result in the device asking if you want to erase it.

When I plugged in my new one it cleared all my song and apps out of my current itunes.
Are you sure of that? Check in the Library. Click on the Apps icon to see all apps. Similarly click on the Music icon to see the songs. -
Use 2 hdd for itunes, iphoto, etc...
Well the latest 10.4.10 update has killed my hdd for some reason.
System reboots but is stuck at the grey screen.
I managed to add a smaller 80G sata drive and reinstall 10.4 on it.
Doing this has allowed me access back the hdd I used to boot and run of off.
So now I am running a quick iBackup all my important files, itunes, iphoto, etc....
My question, though is I am thinking of leaving the 80G hdd as the main boot hdd, and then use the 250G as my main source for files.
This is really how I ran my Windows machines (years ago).
Main hdd for the OS only and a secondary for all my files.
Is there a way to easily do this with OS X?
Will this cause an issue with software updates?
Can I tell itunes, iphoto, and other applications where to look for their main "library" without causing a duplication of files back on the main 80G hdd?Well, I ended up grapping a larger 160G hdd I had and reinstalling OS X again.
I went and got all the updates for it, and then I ran migration manager.
It pulled everything from my old hdd.
So now I am up and running as good as new, but on a smaller hdd.
I might try the moving of the iphoto and itunes folder like linked above.
I would also like to do the same with the documents folder.
You have a instruction for that as well?
If not, that really best thing to do (unfortunately) would be to slick the original 250G hdd, reinstall, update (again) and then do the migration manager on it. -
I have recently transferred data from my old PC to my new Mac Book Pro (Mavericks OS). Each transfer creates a new User account (titled 'Owner', 'Owner 1', etc). I want to merge / consolidate the files from these newly created User accounts into my main user account. Is there a tutorial for this process, or any tips? Anyone?
Four transfers. After the initial attempt with Migration Assistant failed (after hours and hours of wifi transfer) I did "mini-transfers" of more manageable, smaller bits of files -- my music in one, photos in another, etc. Since posting my question in this forum, i contacted Apple support, chatted with Angela, and she suggested getting an ethernet-USB adapter for my mac, connecting my external drive with ethernet and transferring files manually -- that is, NOT using the Migration Assistant at all. She sent me this link to help: Switch Basics: Migrate your Windows files to your Mac. I appreciate your response, tho', Csound1!

I would like to transfer all data from my iPod classic to my new computer with windows 8.1. My old computer's cpu died. Utilizing iTunes which only allows iTunes albums purchased at iTunes store. The cd's were loaded via iTunes originally.
Install disk drive from old computer in an external enclosure.
Then copy the complete iTunes library from the disk drive to the disk drive in the new computer. -

I had recently lost my iPhone and the last time I connected (backed up my iOS) to my computer was around a year and half ago because after that my laptop got ruined. And when I went online to access my backup/information on iCloud nothing comes up. Now I bought a new laptop and backed up all my data from my old latop to my new laptop, and I want to have all my iOS information backed up on my new iPhone. If possible, how can I make that happen. Please help, much appreciated.
Thank youBarnsleyMif wrote:

No such thing has occurred. iPhones do not backup to one another.
It is not possible to backup a different iPhone from the one being updated.
If the iPhone was restored with a backup from a different device, restore it again from the correct backup.

Pay attention when restoring the iPhone and select the correct backup to restore from. -
I used the Migration Assistant to move data from my Time Machine to my new Mac. Most data seems to have been transferred successfully but none of my iPhoto pictures have been transferred.
My Time Machine now shows the earliest available Back-up to be after the Migration Date. My iPhoto pictures seem to have either been lost in the migration process or are locked in my Time Machine prior to the earliest back-up date now accessible.
Any advice on recovering my old iPhoto pictures would be greatly appreciated.First go to iPhoto Preferences, look in both General and Advanced tabs to make sure that things are set to import from camera into iPhoto.
Then if that doesn't help, connect the camera and open Image Capture in your Applications > Utilities folder and see if you can use Image Capture to reset the import path from the camera to iPhoto.

I recently purchased a new Mac Mini with Lion installed. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes. Now I can't get iTunes to sync iCal from my iPod Touch (3rd gen) to my Mini. Everything else syncs great, and iCal syncs from my Mini to my Touch. My Touch has the latest iOS installed. I have tried rebooting my Touch, removing the sync calendars option from iTunes>Info and checking it again after applying and closing iTunes, and restarting my Mini. Any help will be appreciated!
