Getting itunes to save song changes (title/artist) to actual mp3 file

i know this is possible.
basically when you edit a song in ITunes, etc Song Name/Artist/Album artwork, getting this information to save to the actual mp3 file, so if i were to send it to a friend who added it to her ITunes, it would show up the way i edited it.
i know i used to be able to do this on my PC, i'm now running on a macbook OS X version 10.5.2. and itunes version 7.6 (29)
thanks in advance!!

come on guys i really need help with this..
there must be a simple solution

How do i get iTunes to recognize songs on my computer that came from purchased Cd's?

You just import them to iTunes, or you import them to iTunes directly from the CD. But, it you had imported them to the computer before you had iTunes, then you go to edit, add file to library, or add folder to library, however you have the music set up.

  • How do I get iTunes to recognize songs from other sources?

how do I get iTunes to recognize songs I transferred from another computer of were downloaded from another source?

I'm not sure I understand but are you sayng these music files did not import into Itunes? If they are on your comuter and in the format iTunes excepts just drag and drop them into itunes
    These are the current formats
iTunes 11 can currently read, write and convert between MP3, AIFF, WAV, MPEG-4, AAC and Apple Lossless (.m4a)
If they are FLAC based music you will need to convert them with a 3rd party piece of software to Apple Lossless or mp3
The windows version also handles  transcoding WMA files to other formats but will not natively play them

How do you get iTunes to recognise new/changed Airport names? These Airports have attached speakers. Itunes showes the old names of these Airports but they have been renamed in a newly reconfigured network. Itunes will play through the attached Airport attached speakers. The Airport utility shows the correct new names.

Hi turingtest2 - thanks for the reply. As you say It is how it is - and I have three workstations in this home (not counting three for my children and one for the family) and I pretty much always have more than one OS on each - that's how it is for me. I shouldn't have to worry about how many OSs I have (or how often I change them) just to have music while I'm working - through the PC sound system that is. I never have to worry about any other software, only iTunes. Once in a while (in the past) I've made a vendor call if I changed to many things to often (like CPU, GPU, memory, etc - or even a replacement MB) - but that hasn't happened in a couple years (at least since Vista) so I think (hope) they have fixed that for good. And even then it was a quick call and problem resolved. The only (glaring) constant problem is iTunes - limiting my own use of my own music (by counting an OS as a physical PC). Even with VM (which is just another OS) - although you can Attach things to multiple active OSs - it's still your own (purchased) music - and all on one PC. Thanks again!

  • How do I get itunes to sort songs the same way my ipod does, without renaming the songs?

Itunes and my ipod use different algorithms when sorting songs.  Here are a few examples:
In itunes, apostrophes come before spaces/other characters  ("It's Good to Be King" comes before "It Keeps You Runnin'" and "You're an Original" comes before "You Better You Bet."  In my ipod, apostrophes come after spaces/other characters.
In itunes, numerical song titles are sorted by the first number, then the second, and so on (18, 1983, 2112, 25, 3).  In my ipod, numerical song titles are sorted in ascending numerical order (3, 18, 25, 1983, 2112).
The order is relevant for two reasons.  One, I like the sound of the song flow generated by my ipod's sorting better than the one generated by itunes.  Two, I use play count to determine whether or not to keep a song on my playlist (songs that I skip over repeatedly get cut entirely) and the changing song order tends to mess up the play count.
So, other than going in and changing the names of the songs, is there some way to make itunes behave like my ipod?

I deal with the numeric ordering by padding out the sort fields with leading zeros. iTunes used to sort numbers by value but it seems the code for that got removed at some point and hasn't been replaced. You should be able to use sort values to achieve some consistency between the two views of your media.

  • How do I get iTunes to save Gapless Playback option?

I have an album I want to set for gapless playback.
These are the steps I take:
    go to album view
    select all tracks in album
    go to GET INFO
    go to OPTIONS TAB
    select GAPLESS ALBUM: YES checkbox
    Save
    And...it doesn't work.
If I repeat the above, when I get to the OPTIONS TAB, the GAPLESS ALBUM checkbox is UNchecked. It appears that iTunes will not save this option.
    Any ideas why? Any fixes?

I grepped the mp3's and I found that the titles that are showing up are in the mp3 files.  Is there a way for me to tell iTunes to use the filename rather than the embedded data?
    No.
You can delete the ID3 tags, delete from iTunes then re-add them and iTnes will use the filename as the trackname.
Or rename them in Tunes and this will change the filename.

  • How do I get itunes to locate songs?

I just transferred my itunes file from an old PC to a new one.  When I select a song on itunes on the new PC it cannot locate the file.  How do I get itunes to locate all of my songs so they will play?

    Hey jherron12,
To locate files is going to be one at a time; the easiest way to do this is to do it in one of two ways. To import music that is already on the new computer, follow the below article to get that media in iTunes. You will probably want to delete what is in iTunes to prevent double files. When you delete the files it will ask to keep the files or move to the Recycle Bin, choose the keep the files.

The other way is to start the transfer again, and follow the steps in the this article to move files.

  • How do i get Itunes to sync songs/apps that are "unauthorized"?

I forgot my passcode then had to reset my iPod touch, this was successful. Then in the syncing process some of the songs and apps were not syncing because they weren't "authorized". I hadn't purchased these items on my iPod. The window that had showed up said to go to store and then authorize computer. I did this, and the same window popped up and again, and again. How do i get itunes to sync these songs/apps that are un "authorized"?

The problem here is that iTunes wants to make sure that the songs that were purchased are sent to the same device that purchased them.  In this case, you would need to authorize your computer first.   This is as easy as opening iTunes, find "store" in the upper status bar, and select Authorize This Computer.   A dialogue will pop up asking for your iTunes ID and your password.  Enter the ID you purchased the songs with.  Afterwords, you should be able to sync the songs.

  • How do I get itunes to not list the same artist more than once?

How do I get ituens to not list the same artist more than once?  I have tried editing the info, sorting different ways and sometimes it works and sometimes not...it's very frustrating to me to have the same artist listed multiple times...

Setting a common Album Artist for each Album does most of the work. For deeper problems see Grouping tracks into albums.
In general you need to make sure that all the values in the tags are used consistently. Same spelling, same capitalization, same accents, no leading, trailing, or multiple spaces, and each value of Artist, Album Artist or Album should only be associated with one value of Sort Artist, Sort Album Artist or Sort Album respectively.

  • Can not get ituns to play songs contiuously tried everything I can think of

How do I get Itunes to play continuous?
Was working fine but since last up grade can not get it to play continuously.

Apps that you download from the iTunes app store only work on iOS devices i.e. an iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch (and some apps don't work on all three) - they can't be used on a PC or Mac.

  • How do I get iTunes on a new computer to recognize and use my files on the local drive?  My music files on iCloud have been recognized.

My old computer failed.  All files, including iTunes were backed up on a separate drive.  All files have been loaded on the new computer.  iTunes was reloaded, and recognizes all files on iCloud, but does not link to the files on the computer.  How can I re-establish that linkage?

    Hello jzinser,
I am not sure on how you reset up your iTunes library on your new computer. If you copied the music by dragging on top of iTunes, then the media would have been put into the proper location. If you have the media copied to your computer and have not established in iTunes where it sits, then you will need to do that within the preferences in iTunes. Take a look at the articles below for more information to help sort this out.

  • Keeping song info when importing realplayer-created mp3 files

I recently moved to Mac and iTunes, but when I imported my (~6000) mp3 files from realplayer, about 20% came over without album, artist, or genre information. Instead, the song name was just the file name. for the other 80% of tracks, everything worked fine. Help?

The easy thing to do, IF you transfered them from the office PC using copy, you still have access to it, and all the music on your PC and this office PC is the same, is to transfer again with the iTunes Library file.
You will transfer the whole "My Music" folder. inside this folder is the "iTunes" folder with its "iTunes Library.itl" file. this file contains all the song info, playlist ratings ectect. more on the iTunes library can be found here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93732
Another helpful artical for you maybe will be the one for transfering iTunes and music to a new PC using your iPod. Some steps you may not need to do, or have to alter abit, But it will give you a general idea on what you need to do to properly transfer things from one PC to another. An iPod is just a "Specailized" external harddrive after all. heres the link if you want to skim over it http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173
