Getting JACE examples to compile under linux

Hi,
I've been very interested in using the JACE classes (jace.sf.net) but i've been able to get any help from their users. I'm stuck trying to get the basic examples to compile under redhat 9 linux. In the examples folders there are various scripts called "compile.sh" and "link.sh" but with no documentation or usage tips, and also the script has ill-defined paths to the source and includes. I'm interested in learning if other people has been able to use this seemingly interesting but largely unsupported library under linux, and how they got around to make it work
cheers all

It looks like you don't have your classpath set to the proper value.
There are many postings in these forums that discuss setting the classpath. Try searching for the keyword classpath.

  • Mxmlc command line compiling under Linux

    Trying to compile a large library of documents with my AIR app using commnad line and cannot get a runtime created due to
    several warnings in the code - which I expected to be ignored.
    Is there no way to compile and ignore warnings ?
    I've tried editing the air-config.xml and using the following
    amxmlc -strict=false -show-unused-type-selector-warnings=false [mySourceMXML]
    neither will compile the app and displays the list of code warnings (primarily CSS)
    Also it even reports an untyped variable warning for code that is //commented  ????

    Hi,
    You need to download the Adobe AIR SDK for Linux from http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=airsdk&loc=en_us, extract it and use ADT(which you will get as part of this SDK) to package the application. You might want to see http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=CommandLineTools_5.html#1035876 for checking out the ADT options and usage.
    Hope that helps.

  • Resin version under Linux?

    How can you find out the version of Resin you're running under RH Linux, assuming you didn't install it yourself?
    Ditto with MySQL Server.

    Hi Guillaume,
    As you've noticed, _CVI_ is not defined when you compile under Linux.
    You're right, there is very little documentation on which of the CVI predefined macros are available in Linux. We'll be sure to add this to the documentation. In the meantime, these are the macros defined by cvicc, to the best of my knowledge:
    _NI_unix_ = 1
    _NI_linux_ = 1
    _CVI_DEBUG_ = 1 (debug builds only)
    NDEBUG = 1 (release builds only)
    _CVI_C99_EXTENSIONS_ = 0 or 1 (depending on project option)
    _TARGET_FILE_VERSION_ = a.b.c.d
    _TARGET_PRODUCT_VERSION_ = a.b.c.d

  • Forms compilation Errors under Linux

    Hello,
    I have a main form called Tbdoctrk.fmb.
    This forms compiles and runs perfectly through Oracle 9i iDS.
    When transfering the fmb file under Linux, and attempting to recompile using the f90genm.sh utility, I get the following compilation errors:
    FRM-18108: Failed to load the following objects.
    FRM-30436: Parent window not specified for canvas.View Canvas H_TOOLBAR
    FRM-30041: Position of item places it off of canvas.
    Item: BUTTON_HELP
    Block: VARIABLE
    Form: TBDOCTRK
    FRM: Unable to adjust form for output.
    ====
    I noticed that most of the object that failed to load (1 data block object, 1 canvas and a number of property classes and visual attributes) are contained in a file called TOOLBAR.fmb.
    The TOOLBAR.fmb file compiles without errors under Linux/WIndows + is located in the same folder as the Tbdoctrk.fmb file.
    1) How can I resolve this issue ?
    PT
    PS: I tried renaming the fmb files to upper/lower case without success.

    Hello,
    My main form called Tbdoctrk.fmb in turn calls a form called Pre_bord.fmb in a Program Unit.
    Most but not all Class and Value Attributes are included in a file called toolbar.fmb. I did not find any specific reference to the toolbar.fmb file.
    However, at compile time, I find that those objects are not loaded.
    1) In what part of the main form Tbdoctrk.fmb should I find any such reference to the toolbar.fmb file ?
    2) How should I create those symbolic links under Linux ?

  • Compile MatrixX Autocode under Linux

    Hi, I try to compile my autocoded code under Linux and I got problem at the compilation and at the link.
    Everything is working fine under windows....
    First Problem. When I switch to linux I got a error at the compilation :
         error: ‘Matrix_Inverse’ was not declared in this scope
    Matrix_Inverse is part of sa_matrix.c that was compile before without any problem. Any Idea ? You can find the makefile in attachement.
    Second error is during the link. If I put the Matrix_Inverse callout, I able to compile. When it's time to link everything, I got those error:
           TEST_CONTROLPC.o: In function `SCHEDULER':TEST_CONTROLPC.c.text+0x1fb41): undefined reference to `External_Input'
            :TEST_CONTROLPC.c.text+0x1fb91): undefined reference to `External_Output'

            :TEST_CONTROLPC.c.text+0x1fe0f): undefined reference to `Error'
            TEST_CONTROLPC.o: In function `main':TEST_CONTROLPC.c.text+0x218eb): undefined reference to `Implementation_Initialize'

            NGC-sa_utils_bin.o: In function `Background()':NGC-sa_utils_bin.c.text+0x313): undefined reference to `SCHEDULER
    It's look that it's not able to find function declare in the NGC-sa_utils_bin.c (little adaptation of sa_utils.c). Any idea on that ?

    All right, let me resume :
    We have successfully AutoCode a
    MATRIXx model into C code (using default AutoCode template) and compile it on a
    windows based computer with our own makefile. On the windows based computer, we
    have define –DMSWIN32 in the makefile in order to compile the model.
    The result from the AutoCoded
    version and the result from the MATRIXx model are the same (diff of
    x10-6). Now we want to move the AutocCoded model on a RT-Linux based
    computer.
    Is
    there any other define we should include in the
    makefile?
    Target computer: RTAI_Linux on
    a FEDORA Linux
     And Now to solve the first problem :
            NGC-sa_utils_bin.o: In function
    `Background()':NGC-sa_utils_bin.c .text+0x313): undefined
    reference to `SCHEDULERTo bypass the problem, we have
    made a small modification in order to be able to compile the code. We have
    remove the declaration of SCHEDULER() in the procedure Background in the
    sa_utils.h and sa_utils.c file.
     sa_utils.c
    //extern void SCHEDULER
     sa_utils.h
    //EXTERN_FUNC (void SCHEDULER, (
     We have then created the header
    file (same name as the model) to declare this SCHEDULER
    procedure:
     EXTERN_FUNC (void SCHEDULER, (
     We then run the code and write
    outputs in binary to a file. We read them back on a windows based computer to
    conclude that the results are not the same of the MATRIXx
    model.What do you think ?

  • ARIAL FONT IN REPORTS(WINDOWS), NOT SHOWN CORRECTLY UNDER LINUX

    Our Reports are developed under Windows (Report Builder 9.0.4.0.33 and Windows 2000/Windows XP) and generated under Linux (IAS 10.1.2.0.2 with Red Hat Advanced Server). The Report Output is a PDF, that will be downloaded by the user with WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT. This works fine, but fonts are not shown correctly in the PDF, especially ARIAL, which is the font we use.
    I have run the Fontsolution Configuration Script from Metalink, but we still have a problem.
    When you look at the font.pdf, wich is the testreport from fontsolutions, some sizes and styles of Arial are printed correctly others not.
    Arial 8 is ok, but Arial 10 and Arial 12 are something like Times New Roman.
    Arial 12 Bolded is correct, but Arial 12 italic and Arial 12 bold italic are also not
    the Arial Font.
    How can we correct this problem?
    Regards
    Udo

    # <Face>.<Size>.<Style>.<Weight>.<Width>.<CharSet>
    # The <Face> must be the name (string/identifier) of a font face. The
    # <Style>, <Weight>, <Width>, and <CharSet> may either be a numeric
    # value or a predefined identifier/string. For example, both US7ASCII
    # and 1 are valid <CharSet> values, and refer to the same character set.

    # are equivalent, and either one will map any Arial that has both Italic
    # and Overstrike styles to a 12-point, bold, italic Helvetica font.
    # All strings are case-insensitive in mapping. Font faces are likely to
    # be case-sensitive on lookup, depending on the platform and surface, so
    # care should be taken with names used on the right-hand side; but they

    If you want to make platform independent use of fonts, you have to use the family, such as sans serif.
    Arial is owned by monotype (http://monotype.com/). You have to contact them if you wish to redistribute it with your application. They also might have a suitable version that renders nicely under linux.

  • Exception in html parser under Linux

    Hi all,
    Following code is copied from Tech Tip 23Sep1999. I have compiled it and run it under Win98. It works fine for any uri. However, when I try to run it under Linux, it throws exceptions. I noticed that some web site can be parsered with the program in Linux but some can't. I wonder the different between those platforms. Anyone can tell me how to make the program works under Linux.

  • Crash (SIGSEGV, SIGILL) of 32bit Hotspot under Linux x86_64 in VMware

    Hello!
    A reproducible crash of these 1.6 32 bit Java VMs is hinderung my application from starting when I want to start it under a x86_64 Linux kernel in VMware (Workstation and ESX):
    - java version "1.6.0_06"
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_06-b02)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 10.0-b22, mixed mode, sharing)
    - java version "1.6.0_06"
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_06-b02)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 10.0-b22, mixed mode)
    - java version "1.6.0_10-beta"
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_10-beta-b23)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 11.0-b11, mixed mode, sharing)
    Tested using there kernels:
    - Linux debian 2.6.18-6-amd64 #1 SMP Sun Feb 10 17:50:19 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux
    - Linux openSUSE 2.6.22.5-31-default #1 SMP 2007/09/21 22:29:00 UTC x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

    Sproradic but reproducible JVM (Hotspot) crashes while running a simple garbage collector stress application several times in parallel. hs_err files are generated each time. However, the "Problematic frame" address and library changes every time!

    The problem only appears using JDK or JRE 1.6 32 bit edition on a Linux 2.6 x86_64 kernel in VMware. Tests using real hardware, using a i686 kernel and using JDK / JRE 1.6 64 bit edition or JDK / JRE 1.5 (32 bit and 64 bit) could not reproduce the crashes.
    Questions:
    - Is there a general stability problem when starting the 32 bit Java VM under Linux 64?
    - Does anybody have similar problems with
    - Java VM 32bit under Linux 64?
    - Java VM in VMware (both ESX and Workstation)?
    Simple stress test application:
    public class GCStress {
    private static Thread[] threads;
    private static java.util.Random random = new java.util.Random();
    private static int maxBytes;
    private static int numThreads;
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    numThreads = Integer.parseInt(args[0]);
    maxBytes = Integer.parseInt(args[1]);
    threads = new Thread[numThreads];
    for (int x = 0; x < numThreads; x++) {
    threads[x] = new Thread(new Allocator(), "Thread_" + x);
    threads[x].start();
    while (true) {
    for (int x = 0; x < numThreads; x++) {
    if (!threads[x].isAlive()) {
    threads[x] = new Thread(new Allocator(), "Thread_r" + x);
    threads[x].start();
    try {
    Thread.sleep(500);
    } catch (InterruptedException e) {
    // ignore
    private static class Allocator implements Runnable {
    public void run() {
    while (true) {
    int tSize = random.nextInt(maxBytes);
    // System.out.println(Thread.currentThread().getName()
    // + " allocating " + tSize / 1024 + "kb");
    byte[] tMemFiller = new byte[tSize];
    try {
    Thread.sleep(random.nextInt(200));
    } catch (InterruptedException e) {
    ; // ignore
    }

    The program is started like this:
    ./jdk1.6.0_06/bin/java -server -Xms32m -Xmx256m GCStress 500 10485760
    And I run it usually 5 times in parallel. 1 time seems not to be enough (I should test that tonight).
    However, I've tested using several -XX: flags, but nothing really helped! (-XX:+UseParallelGC, -XX:-UseTLAB, -XX:+UseSpinning -XX-UseThreadPriorities, -XX:-UseBiasedLocking, -XX:-UseLargePages)
    About the lib: Every time, the content of hs_err is very different. I've also got

  • Calling an existing C code with JNI under linux.

    Hi all,
    I am trying to use an exsiting c code with jni but I am keep getting
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError, I am working under linux.
    This is what I have done so far:
    1.export LD_LIBRARY_PATH='pwd'/lib
    2. created HspellNative.java with the static System.loadLibrary("HspellNative") and native function called hspellInit
    3. compiled the java class
    4. javah -jni HspellNative
    5. HspellNative.c:
    #include <jni.h>
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include "HspellNative.h"
    #include "hspell.h"
    JNIEXPORT jint JNICALL
    Java_HspellNative_hspellInit ( JNIEnv* env, jobject obj )
         struct dict_radix **dict;
         return ( (jint) (hspell_init(dict,0) ) );
    6. could be the problematic one:
    gcc -o lib/libHspellNative.so -shared -I/opt/bea/jdk142_05/include -I/opt/bea/jdk142_05/include/linux hspell.c HspellNative.c
    7. java HspellNative
    8. getting the following error:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /opt/haim/Hspell/hspell-0.9/lib/libHspellNative.so: /opt/haim/Hspell/hspell-0.9/lib/libHspellNative.so: undefined symbol: hspell_debug

    at java.lang.System.loadLibrary(System.java:834)
    at HspellNative.<clinit>(HspellNative.java:18)
    My problem is that I don't know how to combine my HspellNative.c to the existing hspell.c, I know I should put them together in the shared library somehow, but how ?
    Please advice.
    Thanks in advance,
    Haim.

    I know there is something wrong with the .so, the question is: what ? and how do I fix it ?
    This is the ldd ldd libHspellNative.so output:
    /etc/libcwait.so => /etc/libcwait.so (0x0060b000)
    libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/libc.so.6 (0x00111000)
    /lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x00359000)
    I have no idea what it means...
    I think I will try the SWIG.
    Thanks any way.

  • Can't get DECLARE/BEGIN to compile

    I'm working on a project for my systems analysis class, which involves creating a few tables and printing out information from them. Our teacher has taught us nothing of use for this project so I have been winging it thus far. Any way, I have tried to get one of his sample snippets to compile under the worksheet view in Oracle SQL Developer:
    DECLARE
    n number;
    BEGIN
    n:=50;
    dbms_output.Put_Line('The value of n is ' || n);
    END;
    However, when I try to run it I get the following error: Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'DECLARE'. I tried writing the most simple thing I could think of:
    BEGIN
    dbms_output.Put_Line('the value of n is 20');
    END;
    But I receive a similar error: Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'BEGIN'. I've been able to get normal SQL table queries to work just fine, so my question is what am I doing wrong here?

    The very first thing you should understand is basic Oracle client-server architecture. How do you get data from the server to the client - in a way that is standard, performant, flexible and scalable.
    And DBMS_OUTPUT is the wrong choice for that. It does not print or display data. It is server code. It is not capable of hacking across the network and displaying data on the client's device/application.
    DBMS_OUTPUT is a very primitive debugging/tracing interface. The package has a buffer (array that resides in very expensive server memory). A put_line() call places that string into this buffer.
    When a client has completed a call (like your server call where you send an anonymous PL/SQL block to Oracle), the client can make a 2nd server call - and request DBMS_OUTPUT to send the current buffer content to the client. This client behaviour (making this hidden/transparent 2nd server call) is usually governed on the client by a setting called SERVER OUTPUT. The client receives the buffer. The client displays this buffer.
    Using DBMS_OUTPUT to send data to the client is, bluntly put, IDIOTIC. This is not what DBMS_OUTPUT is designed to do. In fact, using it in this fashion can exhaust server memory and cause the server o/s to reboot due to swap space trashing.
    The CORRECT way is for the client to use a cursor to transport data from the server, to the client.
    There are 2 basic choices. The client deals with the cursor creation (it needs to construct the SQL source, using variable binding, etc). Or the client calls PL/SQL that does this for the client - and returns a handle to the cursor created to the client for use.
    The latter method is preferred. As the client does not need to understand the data model, SQL, database specific SQL syntax, and so on. Instead the client calls PL/SQL code and this code abstracts all that complexities from the client. The client gets a cursor handle in return and uses it to process the cursor's output.
    Here is a basic example, with SQL*Plus as the client:
    SQL> --  client defines a cursor variable to receive
    SQL> -- the cursor handle from PL/SQL
    SQL> var c refcursor
    SQL>
    SQL>
    SQL> -- client makes a PL/SQL call, where the PL/SQL
    SQL> -- code creates the cursor
    SQL> declare
      2          cur     sys_refcursor;  -- pl/sql cursor variable
      3  begin
      4          -- code creates the cursor
      5          open cur for
      6                  select 'Today is '||to_char(sysdate,'Day') as INFO from dual;
      7
      8          -- code passes cursor handle to client
      9          :c := cur;
    10  end;
    11  /
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL>
    SQL> -- client has now received the cursor handle and
    SQL> -- can use it for fetching and displaying data
    SQL> print c
    INFO
    Today is Friday
    SQL>
    This is how one passes data from server to client - correctly.
    DBMS_OUTPUT is for storing limited and basic trace and debug text messages. It is not a transport interface for sending server data to the client.

  • Scaling under Linux

    Hello everybody,
    I am currently writing a photoalbum application using JavaEE and I use the folowing code to generate a thumbnail of an image.
            BufferedImage image = ImageIO.read(new File("IMG_1381.JPG"));
            // determine thumbnail size from WIDTH and HEIGHT
            int thumbWidth = 150;
            int thumbHeight = 100;
            double thumbRatio = (double) thumbWidth / (double) thumbHeight;
            int imageWidth = image.getWidth(null);
            int imageHeight = image.getHeight(null);
            double imageRatio = (double) imageWidth / (double) imageHeight;
            if (thumbRatio < imageRatio) {
                thumbHeight = (int) (thumbWidth / imageRatio);
            } else {
                thumbWidth = (int) (thumbHeight * imageRatio);
            thumbHeight = 100;
            thumbWidth = (int) ((thumbHeight / (double) imageHeight) * imageWidth);
            // draw original image to thumbnail image object and
            // scale it to the new size on-the-fly
            BufferedImage thumbImage = new BufferedImage(thumbWidth, thumbHeight, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
            Graphics2D graphics2D = thumbImage.createGraphics();
            graphics2D.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_RENDERING, RenderingHints.VALUE_RENDER_QUALITY);
            graphics2D.setRenderingHint( RenderingHints.KEY_INTERPOLATION, RenderingHints.VALUE_INTERPOLATION_BICUBIC );
            graphics2D.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_ANTIALIASING, RenderingHints.VALUE_ANTIALIAS_ON);
            graphics2D.drawImage(image, 0, 0, thumbWidth, thumbHeight, null);
            // save thumbnail image to OUTFILE
            BufferedOutputStream out = new BufferedOutputStream(new FileOutputStream("thumb.jpg"));
            JPEGImageEncoder encoder = JPEGCodec.createJPEGEncoder(out);
            JPEGEncodeParam param = encoder.getDefaultJPEGEncodeParam(thumbImage);
            int quality = 100;
            quality = Math.max(0, Math.min(quality, 100));
            param.setQuality(1.0f,true);
            encoder.setJPEGEncodeParam(param);
            encoder.encode(thumbImage);
            out.close();The code works perfectly fine under Mac OS X but generates very poor results under linux. It seems as if it was ignoring the BICUBIC scaling when under Linux. Has anybody ever experienced the same behavior. Any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    Martin

    When a PSU's efficiency is too low, it can not deliver the demanded output. Higher temps make efficiency drop significantly. When a PSU can't deliver the demanded output, chances are it can not keep the voltages (3,3v / 5v / 12v) within safety margins. When a component is overvolted/undervolted for a longer period of time, it will be damaged.
    Most of the time, your board will be damaged first. It delivers power mainly to the cpu, so the faulty board could damage the cpu due to overvolting it...
    Look out for an Enermax or OCZ with 30+ amps on all rails, for example an Enermax Noisetaker 475W (double 12v rail) or an Enermax 465W (single 12v rail). Both have efficiency in the 75-80% range at all levels of output demand. It doesn't get any better than that. Those things are pricy, but so is the rest of your rig, so you don't want to damage your stuff any further.

  • Java running under linux with crontab

    I'm having a problem:
    i want to run a java program under linux with crontab.
    my classes are in a directory and aren't in a package. i run em by invoking ./start which is a small script that i wrote. The script is in the same dir as the classes and invokes java by "java Main >>logjava.txt " but this doesn't seem to work all i get is an empty logfile
    i need to run the program every day at 0800 so i inserted the following in crontab:
    0 8 * 1-5 /var/"path"/start > logjava (where path is the path to the classes dir)
    if i run the cmdline from anywhere on the prompt i get the result i want. I think it's because the cron runs it from the root dir thus making java unable to find the classes
    Any suggestions would be welcome. or can some1 tell me how to make linux executables from the java (i usually use jsmooth for the windows exe)

    You can execute several commands in the process started by cron. You separate them using semicolons.
    Have you tried a cron entry like this:
    0 8 * 1-5 cd /var/"path";pwd;echo $PATH; ./start > logjavaOr, you may need to make sure the process started by cron gets the same environment as your interactive shells do, by explicitly loading your setup or .login scripts:
    0 8 * 1-5 . $HOME/.setup;cd /var/"path";pwd;echo $PATH; ./start > logjava

  • JMF code working under linux but not windows XP

    Hello everyone,
    I'm currently working on a nice cross-platform project involving sound producing. I decided to take a look at JMF and test it a bit to know if its features can suit me. I tried to make it works under windows, using a very simple sample of code. The system seems to play the sound as some console output detects the start and the end, but all i hear is a very short noise ( 1/2second ) like a "CLIK" and nothing else. I tested the code under linux, using the same computer and it works just fine, playing the same wave nicely and entirely.
    some info:
    -i used the cross platform JMF, no performance pack ( i tried it , but still no result )
    -the code just opens a file dialog and plays the selected file
    -the selected file was always a very simple .wav
    -i did not use system classpath variables because i don't like it, i rather use local classpath ( which works fine too, no doubt about it )
    -i tested this little soft on 2 other computer using windows XP, and still got the same result.
    Please, have you got an idea about what's going on ?
    Thanks a lot for any answer!
