Getting List of RMI Hosts in network

Hi All,
We have an application here that uses RMI to start and stop EXEs over the network. So, I have these EXEs lying in different machines in the network. In all these machines, we have RMI servers running. Now, I need to have the list of all the machines in which RMI Servers are running (can we call these RMI Hosts?). So, that I will present the list in a Combo/drop down box and let the user select the machine.
We have already tested the RMI server and it is working. We are able to start and stop these Exes without any problem. But, we are asking the user to key in the machine name before starting the EXEs. This is what I wish to avoid.
Is this possible? Can I somehow get the list of all the hosts in the network on which RMI Server is running and then populate it into a combo bos using JSP/Struts? The application is platform independant, so, I cannot use any windows specific functions/apis.
Cheers,
Uday

Your first problem is to define exactly what you mean by 'all the machines in the network'. This probably means all the IP hosts in your subnet, and if you knew your subnet mask you could generate all the possible IP addresses. You could then try to open port 1099 on each of those addresses and the ones where you succeed have an RMI Registry running. However you can't get the subnet mask in Java, so this is out unless you can hardwire it into your code or supply it externally.

See if the iPad will accept the password after you restart it. It's worth a try.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
You could also try a reset as well.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • [solved] problem getting vbox host only networking going on arch host

New arch user here, been running for 2-3 weeks.  Finally came across something I can't wiki/google my way through, trying to get host only networking going.

Thank you sir, that's exactly what I needed.
Now that I look, I see mention of this in the VirtualBox Extras section of the wiki, but not the VirtualBox or Advanced VirtualBox Networking sections.  I have edited the Advanced VirtualBox Networking wiki to add mention of this.

  • How do i get a list of SQL Servers from network?

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to get a list of SQL Servers from the network and put them into a drop-down combo box. I try to search on Google and i can only find some C# source codes which doesn't help me at all. I'm wondering if JAVA has the similar method to do so.
btw, I'm using MSSQL Server 2005, JDBC 1.2, JDK 1.6.0_24
    thanks

true, but you know as well as I do that requirements documents are usually not written by people with the least understanding on those complexities...
And if a company assigns such a project to someone like OP who clearly doesn't know how to deal with such requirements documents, that only shows their morosity all the more clearly :)
Assuming that I'm able to find a list of TCP connections on network, how do I know which of them are sqlserver? That isn't what I said. A "protocol" is a description of a methodology involving functionality and communication which solves a particular problem.
There is a "protocol" which describes how to find MS SQL Servers. You don't make it up yourself. You find the description, read what it says and implement it.Or more likely (like Oracle) there's no such security problem in MS SQL Server and instead it relies on the client knowing the connection details or it'll never find them.

  • Get List running all the time in Yosemite

For the last two days I have had a gear spinning in Yosemite menu bar performing a function named Get List.  What is going on?

I reran Etrecheck today while the getlist script was running to see if anything else might appear.  Also, I uninstalled CleanMyMac.  Here are the results:

  • Powershell script to get list of softwares installed as shown in registry on all the remote systems in a txt file

    Hi
I need to know the command for getting list of softwares installed on all the remote systems in network  which are existing in their respective registry like HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE of all other systems

    Hey
Sorry this isn't powershell but it should do the job if you want to use it. The problem with using the Win32_Product WMI Class to enumerate the installed software (especially on Windows 2000 & 2003 Servers) is that the WMI class is NOT installed by default. Here is a VBScript i wrote to read a list of hostnames from a text file named "ComputerNames.txt" from the scripts directory and attempt to remotely enumerate all subkeys within the following registry key
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
For each subkey enumerated it will attempt to read the value of the "DisplayName" key and output the results to a csv file.
(the results should be the same as what you would see when you open Add/Remove Programs)
    Hope that helps
    Cheers
    Matt :)

  • How do I get list of client IP Addresses using new Airport Utility v6.3?

I have purchased and Airport Time Capsule 3TB (newest model).  Previous models were still compatible with Airport Utility 5.6 and I could use "manual" mode to get a list of client IP addresses attached to the device.  The new Airport Time Capsule is only compatible with Airport Utility 6.3 and I cannot figure out how to get a list of client IP addresses with this new model. Does anyone know how to do this?

Try a ping broadcast - for example if your network were 192.168.1.xxx (netmask of 255.255.255.0) try this from a Termnal.app window (located in /Applications/Utilities):
         ping 192.168.1.255
If you have a different type netmask, you need to put 255's where the 0's are in your netmask.
Everyone on the local network (the 192.168.1.xxx network) should reply that is up and running unless you have them setup to not respond to pings (the WAN port on your TC should not reply cause it's in a different network) and you have your list of clients on the network. If you setup the TC to dedicate a range of addresses for WiFi clients you can even identify which of them are wired and which are wireless.
    good luck.

  • Unknown error when getting list of virtual machines

I installed the VMC this morning and launched it. After validating the credentials it began a very long running process where it shows the status of 'Getting list of virtual machines'. After approx five minutes an error dialog is displayed which is blank
(aside from a red 'X'). Selecting OK leaves me with a blank list of VMs. There are no events in the application event log. Any help?
    William Busby, PMP

Are you connecting to vSphere 4.0? If so MVMC does not support directly connecting to vSphere 4.0. If your 4.0 host is managed by vCenter 4.1 / vCenter 5.0 you can convert VMs on the 4.0 host by connecting to the vCenter servers that is managing the host.

  • Listing of available Wi-Fi networks.

    Hi All,
Is it true that an iPhone device(iPhone 4S or 5) does not necesarily list/show available Wi-Fi network in a given location.
Is it that it first scans for available Wi-Fi netwoks and only when the Wi-Fi networks meets some minimum threshold like signal strength (and likewise other criteria) does it actually show up in the networks list.
It makes sense as there is no point in displaying an network which has very low signal strength (below the acceptable threshold value) where the changes of getting connected are very less.
If what I stated above is indeed how iOS handles Wi-Fi networks, can somebody share some technical docs links (from Apple and others) which confirms the above mentioned behavior.
I spent a lot of time searching for the same but could not find any, hence this thread.
thanks in advance for the help.

You need to ask that question in the developers forums:

  • Refuse Host and Network

How is it that I'm still receiving email from an ip address that I have blocked?
In Server Admin, in the Mail services/Settings/Relay pane I have refused an ip address range (actually many) in the "Refuse all messages from these hosts and networks" field, and still email within that range continues to get through. For example I have refused a range formated as such; x.x.x.x/8. Low and behold, in comes an email from x.xx.xxx.xx.
Any idea's why it doesn't always work?
    TIA

You can do three things, assuming you can define what "network" means to you.
The simple one is to change them into int or BitSet and then XOR them. The position of the first set bit from the high order side tells you "how different" the two IPs are, and then you'll have to decide how many octects of the IPs specify your actual network.
An alternative is to define a network boundary, for example a good guess is that 192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.255 is your home network, but if you have a router you might want to go from 192.168.1.0 to 192.168.2.255, depending on your settings, and then you'll have to match an IP to see if it falls into the boundaries of your network.
The third is to get hold of your adapter's network mask and AND it with an IP. If the result is the same that you obtain by ANDing the network mask with your IP, then the two are in the same network.
    Example:
    int networkMask = 0xffffff00;  // 255.255.255.0
    int myIP = 0xc0a8164; // 192.168.1.100
    int otherIP = ?;
    if ( myIP & networkMask == otherIP & networkMask) {
// yep, same network(I might have screwed up the network order here, I never remember which is which, but I believe it's little endian, so it should be OK)

  • Pricing: New condition type not getting listed in options in product master

    Hi,
I have created a new pricing procedure and also created a new condition type for it. I am trying to create a condition record in the product master for this  condition type but the condition is not there in the list of conditions. How can I inlcude it in the condition list?
Even the new condition type I have created by copying 0PR0 is not getting listed in the options, whereas 0PR0 is getting listed.

    Hi Meenakshi,
you need to enhance the condition maintenance group in the customizing, which is assigned to the product master. Please check: IMG: Customer Relationship Management -> Master Data -> Products -> Special Settings for Sales Operations -> Assign Condition Group to Application CRM and IMG: Customer Relationship Management -> Master Data -> Conditions and Condition Technique -> Condition Technique: Basics -> Create Maintenance Group.

  • Tecra A10 - Refurbished - unable to get it connected to my home network

I just got this Tecra A10-104 refurbished Laptop...before I take it back I am asking here just in case theres something I have missed as I am unable to get it connected to my home network.
I am running a Belkin Wireless Router that has 2 main PC's directly connected (LAN), and another PC wirelessly connected.
    This is my router: http://www.belkin.com/uk/support/article/?lid=enu&pid=F5D8233uk4&aid=9238&scid=0
All PC's working fine and connected.
Now I'm trying to setup this laptop to connect.
I uninstalled the Vista Business and ussed the XP Pro Product Recovery disc that came with the Tecra.
My WiFi card is: Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 5100 (Driver Date: 27/04/2008 - Driver Version: 12.0.0.73)
It sees the network but no matter what i try just won't connect.
What I have done so far (read before suggesting stuff I have already tried):
Reconfigured routers WPS to Shared Key system.
Made sure the wireless adapter has settings set to 20/40hz (auto)
Restarted router, cable modem & laptop several times
Wireless button on side of Laptop is ON.
FN + F8 to enable WIFI (ON) BLUETOOTH (OFF)
Added wireless network to Auto Connect settings along with SSID and passcode end encryption method.
Clicked connect when network appears in network viewer dialogue and retyped passcode.
    Not working.
I should add the Laptop has no problems connecting via its Gigabit LAN port.
    Anything else I'm missing?
    Thanks in advance.
    EDIT: Dual post removed.

    UPDATE:
The next thing I tried was to reinstall Vista Business from recovery disc to see if this suffered from the same problem.
The wireless connection worked fine on Vista and, despite the updates that I was being offered, worked without needing to update any drivers.
This made me think...so the issue is probably XP DRIVER related.
What I have done now is backup all the driver updates I was told to download by TEMPRO (BIOS & wireless manager updates included).
I think part of the problem is that TEMPRO only works in Vista (not XP) so you are not informed of any updates that may be required if you downgrade to XP straight after purchase (which is what I did).

Disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and update usually resolves the timeout error.

Disable your antivirus and firewall, and try again.
