Getting low voltage from the Macbook Pro Case

I'm getting low voltage throughout the casing whenever the brick is plugged in my 2011 macbook pro 13".  I can run my fingers across the case and get the 60hz hum from the ac current.  Pretty neat effect, not sure if it's totally safe or not.  I tried plugging it into several outlets and changed the surge protector, with no changes happening.  Anyone else getting this issue?  Thank you for listening!!!
Jason

I have exactly the same problem. How did you fix it?
Is it magsafe adapter issue?

  • Getting 2650x1600 output from my MacBook Pro?

I've got a brand-new MacBook Pro 15-incher with the nVidia GT 330m card. I've also got a brand-new 30-inch HP ZR30w monitor with *native res. of 2560x1600*. My problem is that when I hook up the MacBook Pro to the monitor's DVI input, I can only get *1280x800 max resolution!* I have tried downloading SwitchResX, but it too only lists a 1280x800 max resolution for the ZR30w.
The monitor dutifully operates at 2560x1600 when hooked up to my PC, so I know it can do the job. I also can get 1080p output from the MacBook Pro on my TV.
So, how to I get the MacBook Pro to do what I bought it for? Very frustrating to be stuck at such a low resolution. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I have a Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP 30" and I'm thinking about getting a Macbook Pro and this was on my mind since Ive read the specs on nVidia GT 330m card on the new Macbook Pro i3/5/7 series. So this is great to hear, what a relief plus this will be my first Mac so I don't know what to expect. I hear they will be new Macbook Pro's 1Q of 2011 with Facetime etc...can anyone confirm that? I'm on the fence right now if to get one or wait. I'm assuming the new Macbook Air would do the same since it has the same Video Card.
The new Dell UltraSharp U3011 30" has a display port for connectivity and wondering if one can juss connect to a Macbook Pro directly...mini display port / display port same thing?
@ArthurPJohnson ... once you go 2560 x 1600 there's no way one can ever go back to a lesser resolution LoL!

I don't quite understand what you are saying? If i recieve and read an iMessage on the iPhone and then switch on my Mac, I don't get a notification about a new message, but that iMessage appears on the conversation.

Recently I was working on my home Network and lost myPassword for my Home wireless connection. After many attempts, I remembered thepassword and was able to get in. Now the MacBook Pro only works at home on aHard wire connection. I have an additional 9 devices on the same network, allare functioning properly. The Air connection works fine at any other Networksout side the Home connection. I did a PRAM reset, deleted the Network profileand rebuilt in System Preferences. Still unable to connect wireless on Homenetwork. Any Ideas?

  • How easy does the MacBook Pro case bend?

    Hello All,
I've been waiting for the problems with the MacBook Pro to slow down before I purchase one. But, I've recently read numerous stories (on this and other forums) about the case bending in various places.
From what I have read, it sounds like the aluminum case has weak spots and will bend with little pressure.
The complaints I have read indicated that the area around the CD-ROM drive may bend slightly where you rest your palms while typing.
It sounds like the bends are usually minor, but occasionally more severe.
    My question is:
Is this something that is fairly common?
Is this just one of the issues that people don't complain about much since it is mostly cosmetic?
I have never owned one of the Aluminum Mac Portables. So, I can't judge this for myself. And, I'm not particularly sure that the local dealer would let me flex on the computer a bit to see if it would bend.
The iBook we have is plastic. So, that obviously wouldn't have the same potential.
I guess I am just asking what everyone's experience is with this. It would be helpful to me to determine whether this is a machine that I should continue considering (once the bugs are worked-out) or if I should stick with a plastic machine like the iBook when the new models come out.
I imagine that both PowerBook and MacBook Pro owners would be able to comment on the potential for the aluminum case to bend.
Thank you in advance for your answers and experience.

So it is very stiff then?
I guess I got the impression that over time the panel would bend slightly from resting your hands on it.
I am wanting something that is very durable, and won't become easily damaged when I finally purchase another computer.
Some people have mentioned that it bent slightly, or that the edges of the CD-ROM drive could make an impression on the case from the weight of your hands resting on the case (or maybe with a little pressure).
So, I was concerned that this might be something that I should consider when evaluating which machine I should get as my next computer.
I should add that I do also have a young daughter that will sometime use the computer to play with her programs and such.
So, structural strength is very important.
I am generally not concerned with out current machines because the keyboards are very solid (especially with the Mac Mini and iMac G3).
But, with a machine that has the keyboard and palm-rest built-in, I would be concerned that it might be easily damaged if the material is not strong enough.

  • Wireless Printing from the MacBook Pro

So I've read and scanned just about every post pertaining to this subject but still have not been able to print wirelessly from my shiney new MBP. I understand that appletalk is the issue and that printing using LPD is the answer, but still... nothing. Perhaps I am ******** when it comes to the technical details but I've got the mac address for my printer, I went into my D-link router and assigned a static IP addess to the printer, I saved, applied, and still can't seem to get it to work... what am I doing wrong here? Am I missing a step? I have an older HP LaserJet 4plus. It works fine when I plug into the network but just can't seem to make it work wirelessly. If anyone can help me out, it would be very much appreciated!!

I've just purchased a MacBook Pro to add to my existing PowerBook G4 and m wife's PowerBook 12". Both the older machines can see the two printers that we have attached to our Netgear router, itself wired to an Apple Extreme Airport. They can see the printers (an old HP LaserJet 2100TN and a spanking new Konica [QMS] MagicColour 2450) and can print to both without any problems. The new MacBook Pro, whilst it is accessing the network and the Internet just fine via the Airport Extreme but when I open the Print& Fax control panel in System Preferences, and ask the new machine to add the two printers it brings up the Printer Browser, the Searching for new drivers wheel does its thing and hey presto it shows up nothing. Help!
I did buy the MacBook Pro in the US rather than the UK but then the little Powerbook was purchased there too and has no problem printing wirelessly.
Any help from Apple folk reading this or other visitors to the board most gratefully received. Thanks, Piers

  • The Low-Down on the MacBook Pro

Ok kids, i want the truth.
I want the good the bad the great and the ugly of MacBook Pro.
Overall i love all the things that Apple says about it, im going to buy it as my first Mac ever, no matter what yall say.
But i have heard quite a few complaints/problems with this machine.
Let me list off some and have yall help me list the rest, i want to make this a one stop place for people with MBP problems.
    1) I heard Creative Suite CS2 doesnt work (has problems)
    a) version que is the problem b/c it doesnt install well with Rosetta
answer- try not to install version que
    2) Battery Problems
    a) Processor issue when your battery is out
    b) Shutdowns
    c) Distortion with the casing
answer- get a new battery from Apple... they will get this problem right eventually b/c they care about there customers
    3) Intel Processor
    a) Most all programs (run thro an Emulator... rosetta) will be slower, b/c they are in Mac format
answer- deal with it, till the Universal Format comes out
    4) Whining or noise
    a) Hope you get a good one. b/c it could whine
    b) whine can come off and on at almost any time.
answer- get a new one from apple (they will get it sorted out, we have to trust em)
    5) Heat
    a) Can get pretty hot when heavily run
answer- see if thers an actual problem and/or get a new computer b/c alot dont have problems
These problems could be fixed on the Newer MacBook Pro models... i am unsure (anyone know?)
If there are anymore problems/concerns or you just want to agree with me, please post... i did this to help people b/c ive read alot.
Once again, i didnt do this to bash Apple... b/c i still love you guys!! and am going to buy your MBP.
    Thanks,
    Aaron Fischer

    Hi Rick
Yes you are right, cases like mine are rare and Apple products are very good and OSX is a very good OS for a desktop system.
But my own experience indicates that maybe quality control for Mac laptops could be better perhaps. And it took Apple a long time to admit that the memory slot RAM problem with the PB existed.
My problem is that I am living in Spain away from my home base in UK at the moment and am completely reliant on my computer - whatever brand that might be. I used a Mac SE30 years ago with no problem, had to go over to You Know What for work reasons but came back to Apple because for what I do (photographs) it is (and remains) the best platform.
The people in tech support and customer service I have dealt with have been exemplary, probably the best I have ever dealt with in 20 years of dealing with IT support.
But I just cannot rely on my Macbook Pro. An exceptional experience perhaps but unfortunately it is mine But there does seem to be quite a few people who have returned faulty MBPs several times.
Bottom line is when I pay someone the equivalent of $5,000 or so for something I expect it to be reasonably reliable, be that a car, a camera or a computer.

  • Is there a way I can get send iMessages from my Macbook Pro?

I just got My first Macbook Pro and am still trying to figure out how to use it.  I have seen that m friend can send and recieve his text messages on his Macbook Pro and I cant figure out how to get that. When I tried using messages it send it from my email not my phone number.

First you need to determine what laptop model you have; then we can help you. A Mac Book Pro cannot run OS 9.1.
With your Mac booted up, click on the  at the far left of the menu. Then click on About This Mac. It will show what version of OS  you are running. What is the version?
A MBP will be running something like version 10.x.
If you are running version OS 9.x, you don't have a Mac Book Pro.
     Cheers, Tom
