Getting mail on iphone

for the life of me i can't figure this stuff out. im trying to get my schools which is uta(university of texas in arlington) and i cant figure out how to do it. my email is [email protected] and i look at it through outlook web acess. i just need help please

Based on this link, the only way to access the account on the iPhone is as an Exchange Account.
There are instructions for creating the account with the email client on a Windows Mobile device, which should be similar for creating the account on the iPhone using the Exchange account preset.

  • No longer getting mail on iPhone, nor can I connect to any website on iPhon

Hoping someone can help, or has had a similar experience. This morning, my iPhone stopped sending/receiving emails. I checked on the iMac, everything working OK there. I haven't changed any settings on anything, and have been using the iPhone successfully since Christmas.
I did a forced Restore from iTunes for the iPhone - it took several attempts, and I had to do the trick of removing the USB cable, then holding in the Home button while the phone booted up, then clicking Restore. I have got everything synced as normal on the iPHone: the address book, iCal, the iPod - everything is there fine: but the email account looks odd (only an inbox is showing, and none of my .mac folders), and it won't send or receive email, and neither will Safari work (none of the bookmarks work).
Here is the message I get when I try to send/receive email:
"Cannot get Mail. The connection to the server 'mail.mac.com' failed."
Now I'm not an expert - else I wouldn't be here to ask for your help! - but I wondered if that meant some of the settings on the iPhone had been lost. But I've checked in Settings under Mail - all my correct account info is there; the right name etc, and I re-entered the password just to make sure.
On iPHone Safari, if I try to connect to a bookmark, I get a similar message:
'Safari can't open the page because it is not connected to the internet'.
I don't understand at all what's happening. The iPhone can 'see' and is connected to my usual home wifi setup (the same one the iMac and powerbook use, and they're both working fine).
If anyone has any suggestion as to what might be wrong, I would be most grateful. Thank you for your help.
    cheers
    Graeme

    Hello All,
Thank you for allowing me to join these forums.
I'm having the same e-mail issues.
My IPhone is not feeling the love for e-mails.
It has been "working" VERY sporadically since I purchased the phone.
I've already spent a ton of time trying to fix it, but nothing seems to get it to update my e-mails consistantly.
I deleted most of the e-mails that were in my Inboxes too.
Any more ideas on what I should look for, other than another phone???
Thanks for all of your help,
    Ben

  • Cannot get Mail of Iphone 3GS

I cannot get mail from gmail. Message states Imap.gmail.com not responding. I have tried re-typing the password but have not been able to get any mail for 8 days now. I am worried about deleting account and re-entering as I have three different email addresses coming into the one gmail account and originally had it set up for me by 02. Never had any problems in the 20 months I have had the iphone until now. Only wish that I had an Apple store in my area - Blackburn.

are you sure of the setting of the outgoing server ? Give a call to the service provider and ask for the right settings

  • Anyone getting message "cannot get mail" on iphone using yahoo?

Couple of days back when I tried to log into my yahoo.com mail account, I received a full screen message that yahoo.com thought my password was compromised and requested I supply a new one.  I didn't look at the url to see if it was from yahoo.com or trustworthy (darn it!).  I decided not to change my password and was allowed to go on to yahoo.com mail.  Then later when I tried to check my yahoo.com email from my iphone4, I got this message that "cannot get mail" and my password must be incorrect.  I went back to the yahoo.com mail on my Macbook and, after getting the same warning message as before, I did enter a new password.  Then tried to get into yahoo email on the iphone4 and succeeded.  The next day, I tried to get into yahoo email from the iphone4 and I got the darn "cannot get mail" message on the iphone4.  I've tried deleting the yahoo mail account on the iphone4 and reinstalling it, but no luck.  Still get same message!  Anyone know what to do?

    Thanks
So how can I fix my iPhone Yahoo email?

  • Changed yahoo password, now can't get mail on iphone 4S, how do I fix?

Had to change a yahoo mail password today and now cannot get/send mail on iphone 4S so does anyone know how I can fix it?  Thank you for help

did you make the password changes on your phone.   Go to settings - mail - account - yahoo - enter the password for your incoming and outgoing mail server.
Or just delete the account and re add with the new password.

  • Getting mail on iphone and outlook

I use Outlook 2003 and have an imap gmail account that I need to access from both my laptop and iphone. Right now, if I get mail on my iphone, it does not come to my laptop and visa versa. I don't want it to come to my phone once I have it in Outlook, but if I get something on the road on my phone, I still need it on the computer for my records.
I've read everything I can find and I seem to have the settings all done correctly, but the problem persists. Please help!

How did you create your Gmail account with the iPhone's Mail client?
If you used the Gmail account preset to create the account, the account is created as an IMAP account.
I don't want it to come to my phone once I have it in Outlook, but if I get something on the road on my phone, I still need it on the computer for my records.
Then you need to access the account as a POP account with Outlook and with the iPhone's Mail client. With Outlook, you need to remove messages from the server when downloaded by Outlook so the new messages downloaded by Outlook will not be downloaded by the iPhone, and quit Outlook when away from your computer or new messages automatically downloaded by Outlook will be removed from the server when downloaded and the messages will not be available for download with the iPhone's Mail client. With the account settings on your iPhone, you can select do not remove messages from the server when downloaded so any new messages downloaded by the iPhone's Mail client will be available for download with Outlook when returning to your computer and launching Outlook.
If you access the account as an IMAP account, this will not be possible, but any messages downloaded and read with Outlook will be available when accessing the account with the iPhone Mail's client but marked as read automatically, and vice versa since all server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account are kept synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account.

  • IMAP EMAIL stopped getting mail on iPhone 5

Just got my new iPHone 5. Set up 2 email accounts - icloud and another IMAP server. Both accounts were working just fine. Recently the one IMAP account stopped getting new email. It looks like it is trying to connect to get the email, in fact it even tells me it has email ready to load but nothing comes across. It just appears to keep trying to connect and get email.
I have no issue getting my email via web browser or with my Apple Mail application. I have tried to delete the account and reinstall several times and have even deleted all the data and reset the phone and started fresh - still having the same issue.
    Any Thoughts?

WoolyLamb did you ever find a solution?
I too am using an iphone5 verizon carrier, with a register.com email address.
Was using IMAP for years with no problem and just in the last month or two
    been getting the same message:
    CANNOT GET MAIL
the mail server "mail.xxxxxxx.com is not responding.
Verify that you have entered the correct account into in Mail settings.
PS - I have no problem at all on my computers where I use the same setup!

  • Cannot get mail on iPhone 5 with 7.0.2 OS. What's the fix?

My IPhone 5 does not get email after I downloaded 7.0.2. What's the fix?

    Hello SkyeGriffith,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:

Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
    Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
    Best of luck,

  • Changed Yahoo Mail password, now can't get mail on iPhone

I changed my Yahoo mail password, and discovered I can't access my mail from the phone. I changed it back to the old password, but I still get a message on the phone saying the username or password is incorrect....
How can I get my iPhone to get back into yahoo mail...?

Try deleting the account on your phone, turn your phone off, then back on & re-creating the account.

  • Can't get mail on iphone 5

I recently set up an icloud mail address and ever since I can't get my standard mail.  I've tried all the usual, deleted the account, changed and reset passwords etc?  With no joy.

Is your standard mail a POP or IMAP email service, and who is the provider?
Can you check your mail using Safari, through web based email?
If it's a POP account, you may be locked out, take a look at this Apple doc -> Using a POP account with multiple devices
This Apple doc might be helpful too -> iOS: Unable to send or receive email

  • Cannot get or send mail using Apple Mail on iPhone and iPad

Everyone in my household cannot get or send mail on their Apple Mail for iPad and iPhone. We all get the same message: "The user name or password for [account] is incorrect." This just started happening yesterday afternoon. No problems before that. I called my hosting company and Apple, and both blamed the other. My Apple system is always updated, so I have the latest version of Maverick. Had no problems with it up until now.
However, I awoke this morning to find downloaded emails in the same program, but when I go to "get mail," it says the same thing, and still won't allow me to send or receive.
Here's the kicker. I also use Gmail with the exact same accounts (yes, I need both since Apple Mail does things that Gmail doesn't, and vice versa). No problem! I get all my emails and can send with no problem. So, my hosting company claims it can't be them (makes sense). It only happens using Apple Mail, and I have several email addresses. None of them work (other than the strange phenomena of suddenly getting some of them downloaded for no apparent reason).
What do I do from here? I've changed passwords, deleted and tried to set up my emails, only to get the message that they probably will not work. And they don't. I have shut down and restarted my iPad and iPhone, to no avail.
Thank god for my Gmail account, or my business would be closed.
Again, this is happening on four devices in my home: 2 iPads and 2 iPhones.

I have a comcast account I use on my phone and use it for receiving and sending mail. When you look at the account in settings, you need to check each of these
    incoming mail server: mail.comcast.net
username: the part of your email address before the @
    password: your password
    outgoing mail server: smtp.comcast.net
    Under Advanced
    Use SSL: On
    Authentication: Password
    Server Port: 995
If you cannot make it work from changing settings in the account, delete the account and start over. Use the "Other" setting when starting the account. It is a POP3 account and make the entries I gave you. Once you do that, it should check the entries and validate the account. You shouldn't have any trouble from there. Those settings will work from either the iPhone on cell, or wireless. Mine will even work when I'm at home on my wireless there, which is on the Comcast network.
    Hope that helps you.

  • Iphone mail app regularly requires restart to get mail flowing???

Anyone seeing this issue?  Advice re how to fix?
My iphone mail app regularly requires restart to get mail flowing.  That is it is running (doesn't crash) but will at time just stop getting email updates.  I then have to force close the mail app (i.e. kill it) and then restart it.  After restarting it the mail flows again.
    Notes:
    a) I do connect to Gmail for my mail - I'm using the IMAP facility for gmail currently (i.e. not the "Exchange" method)
    b) I do also have the Google "Gmail" app running on my device too
    c) on iPhone 3GS, latest version of IOS

I have this same problem too.  I have both a hotmail and work Microsoft Exchange account setup on my iPhone and have intermitent issues with both.  Sometimes the hotmail push works, but my work email doesn't push, other times it's backwards, and sometimes neither work.  I can't figure it out.  Usually restarting the app (closing out of the multitasking bar), and/or going into settings and disabling the affected mail account works.  And to top it, I have an iPad, I'll hear the mail chime go off on my iPad, expecting it to go off on my phone....and it never does, not until I manually fetch it.
    Very frustrating.

  • How do set up your hotmail account on a mac book pro? I have it set up so I get mail but on my hotmail account I have lot of separate folders. They don't show up on my mac, they do on my iPhone and iPad.

How do set up your hotmail account on a mac book pro properly? I have it set up so I get mail but on my hotmail account I have lot of separate folders to save messages in(for example :- bank, skyp, work, Facebook, apple, ect...). They don't show up on my mac. I also have an iPhone and iPad, there is no issue here when I set those up. I automatically got my separate folders. Anybody have any idea or encountered the same problem?

    Cheers,
I'm not gonna lie, I actually have no idea if its pop or imap. Do you know where you can check and if it can be changed?
Hotmail on a Mac is POP3 only, you will only get the basic folders (inbox, sent, trash etc) and it will not sync with other devices.
And now I post this I see other replies, so this is redundant. !!

If you created as an Exchange account on the iPhone (not IMAP or POP) and you have Push on it should all work smoothly; Reading a message on either client should mark the other read (it does on mine). Try deleting the account from the phone, rebooting the phone (to clear out old settings), then go to Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendar, add an account and tap Microsoft Exchange and add the account back.
There is a fundamental difference between BB and iPhone that you should be aware of; on the BB you do not sync directly with Exchange; you sync with the RIM server which then syncs with your Exchange server. The iPhone syncs directly with Exchange using Microsoft's ActiveSync protocol. So in some ways they will behave differently. But ActiveSync should manage marking messages as read correctly.
