Getting mail on my ipad

Can anyone help?  I am trying to get my mail to open via m new ipad but it will not allow me to do this.  I have checked all the information is correct but it just keeps telling me to check. Anyone know why?

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.     That shouldn't be an issue because you got a new phone.
    Go onto the mail settings in the iPad and make sure it is set up correctly. If that issue still persists let me know and I'll look into it.

    I have not received any emails on my desktop since sometime on Friday 03/20/2015. I did download 72 messages on my Ipad this morning.

    Did you perform or get an auto update?
    If yes, perhaps your firewall/antivirus program needs to be reset to allow Thunderbird.
    Example:
    I use Norton Anti-Virus/Firewall.
    Sometimes, after an update, Norton still thinks it can allow only the previous version.
    I then have to close Thunderbird and access Norton.
    Settings > Network > Smart Firewall > Program Rules
    Locate Thunderbird and set to 'Allow'.
    On one occassion, I have had to block, ok and then reset to Allow.
    If you use another Firewall/Anti-virus program, then there will be similar settings. So check this first.

    Mail icon takes me to "welcome to Mail" screen, though I am already signed in to mail. Sometimes I see a screen flas that shows VIP but then it switches to the welcome screen.     Sorry, there is. Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendars. Tap on the name of the account. At the bottom of the screen it will say Delete Account.

    Start with the first article to troubleshoot the issue of not getting mail on your iPad. When you get online using safari, check to see if you can log into webmail. Also keep in mind, depending on the account that mail sometimes might not come in if it is a POP account as it may have already been download elsewhere.

    Can someone help?..I don't get an alert when I get mail from my ipad...I have to physically check to see...before I get mail it rings...now nothing..

    You have Settings > Sounds > New Mail set to a sound, and you don't have notifications muted : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
    You could also check to see that Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data is set to suitable period or to 'Push'.

    Hotmail on a Mac is POP3 only, you will only get the basic folders (inbox, sent, trash etc) and it will not sync with other devices.
    And now I post this I see other replies, so this is redundant. !!

    Bought a new iPad2 with wi-fi access.  I am at home on my wi-fi network using iPad.  Trying to add my Hotmail account to the iPad so I can retrieve my e-mail messages.  When I try to add the Hotmail e-mail account to the iPad, I select Windows Live Hotmail on the iPad.  I then enter my Hotmail e-mail address and Hotmail password in the iPad.  The iPad then says Verifying.  Then a box pops up saying "Hotmail Account, Unable To Verify Account Information".  I spent about an hour on the phone with iPad support and they tried everything they could to no avail.  iPad support said I would need to contact Hotmail support.  I have learned that Hotmail does not have a support phone number that you can call, only a search area that is of no help.  I am able to log onto my Hotmail e-mail account no problem on my regular computer.  I was able to program my wife's Comcast.net e-mail into the iPad no problem and bring up her e-mail on the iPad.  I can not get past the "Unable to verify Hotmail Account Information" message on the iPad.  Frustrated, want to be able to retrieve my Hotmail e-mail messages from my iPad, please help!  Thank you.

    My hotmail was working properly until one month ago , then I do not what happens ... My mistake has been to cancel that account and try to re-load it... I am blocked at "unable to verify account details".

    I also try to ask securiry code to mocrosoft and put it instead of hotmail password when creating new Ipad account but nothing.
    I try to go everywhere on microsfot pages and on my mail account setting but I can not find any help from there. From PC is working

    It sounds like you're seeing an alert message when opening Mail on your iOS devices. Do you have multiple email accounts setup on the devices?     Close the settings app and reboot your iPad.
    Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
