Getting Media from DVD

APE7
I am working on a project for an actor friend for his Video Resume.  He has DVDs from producers of the parts he has performed.  These DVDs play ok in a player or on the computer but when I use Get Media to put them in a project the audio is all out of sysc in the project. Is there something I am doing when I get Get Media? I am having this problem with two out of three of the DVDs he gave me.
Thanks.
Cheerd!  Phil

Thank you for the help, it worked. I used  Prism Video converter because it seemed to have a better interface than Streramclip.
I had to fool around with the settings becasue I was working too fast. It is quite clear. use the DV-AVI settings.
My client and I are very happy and I learned new skills.
Thanks Again.
Cheers!  Phil

  • AP Downloader-"Failed to load plugins to get media from devices"

I'm using Photoshop Elements 6.0/ Premiere 4.0, the problem comes up if I try to load to either program. I have it set to automatically download my pics when I insert a media card into my computer; the following dialog box comes up when I insert a card; Adobe Photo downloader- “Failed to load plugins to get media from devices”. I tried to fix the problem by using the Adobe CD, but the program asks for “Disk 1”, the original disk is in & I have no other disks. What needs to be done to correct this problem?
    Thank You

    Dave,
Please close Organizer and delete the folder Organizer inside your user folder @ path: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Organizer.
This would delete your APD preferences. If relaunch doesnot fix the problem, remove your card and restart your system and try again. Let me know if this works.

  • Capturing media from DVD

Is it possible to capture video and audio media from DVD, and if so how do I do it? I am fairly new to FCP, I have experience on an AVID symphony but am acclimating myself to FCP. Any help would be appreciated.

Either of the software titles above work well ... or you can simply connect a DVD player to your DV device and set FCP device control to Non-Controllable Device, then use Capture now. Or dub the footage to a digital tape format then capture from the tape.

  • Get Media From Files & Folders is Broken

In premiere elements 9, whenever I go to organize, get media, files and folders, it takes 30 seconds to open the explorer window, and when it does it comes up blank. It still has the tabs on the side like recent places and desktop, but no matter what I click or do, it wont show any files or folders! What do I do?

More questions to add to SG's questions....
Are you running Premiere Elements 9 as the 9.0.1 Update?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed?
Are you running the program as Run As Administrator or from a User Account with Administrative Privileges?
Now that we have gotten the usual questions out of the way.....
    1. Is your video card driver up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the video card?
    2. If the video card driver is up to date, then delete the BadDrivers.txt file found in the Windows 7 or 8 64 bit path:
    Local Disc C
    Program Data
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    9
and in the 9 Folder is the BadDrivers.txt file that you delete.
Make sure that you are working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path.
    3. We could try deleting the Adobe Premiere Elements Pref file or the whole folder that it exists
    Local Disc C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    9
and in the 9 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elemens Prefs file that you delete. Same comment as above regarding the Folder Option "Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives".
    4. After that comes the uninstall, run through of ccleaner, reinstall.
We will be watching your progress and your replies to SG.
    Thanks.

  • Getting material from dvd in fcp

    Hi!
I don´t know how to get material (I suppose digibeta from TV) in fcp. I only get Video and Audio seperated! Will the quality of the material be better, if I get the original digibeta material?
    Help!
    Mel

I'm not sure what your situation is there, Melanie. Is the material encoded onto a viewable DVD? Or a QuickTime stored on it as a DVDROM? If encoded as a DVD, then yes, you would be far better off getting the original source tapes. If the QuickTimes are stored on a DVDROM, be sure to drag them to your media HD before using them, they won't playback fast enough from the DVD.

  • How to get video from DVD into FCE?

    Hi,
I have a DVD which I got from a childhood friend. The DVD contains a compilation of old film clips (her family had old super 8 movies transferred to DVD). I'm trying to import the clip (it's one long video clip, 30 mins long) into FCE for editing. But, when I try to import, all I see on the DVD is one file folder labeled VIDEO_TS; this folder contains eight files with strange suffixes, such as .IFO, .VOB, and .BUP, none of which are accessible. Anyone have any idea how I can get the files into Final Cut Express?
I would really appreciate any advice. Thank you.
    Vic

Hi again, Martin. I did the 'conversion', and it appeared something was happening (i.e. a 'progress bar' showed that something was going on, and it took about 20 mins or so. So, I figured it was doing the conversion. Once done, a 'play' button appeared, but when I pressed it, nothing happened. Does that sound like I'm missing the MPEG2 Playback Component?
Note: I noticed during the conversion an indication that the file, about 2 gigs seemed to be being created, but for the life of me, I don't know where the file went (i.e. I don't know where (or even if) it was stored on my computer). Anyways, the process seems not to have worked. I guess, as you said, I'll need to purchase the Playback Component?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Getting video from DVD

I have used a VCR Player/DVD recorder to transfer files from old family VHS tapes to DVD. After finalizing these DVD-R disks, I wanted to take them to my Mac and further edit them with iMovie or iDVD, however, the Mac will only play them with DVD Player. It will not recognize nor accept the files into either program. My local Mac dealer told me to purchase Roxio’s Toast 6 with JAM and said that it would be able to open and convert these images to a format which the Mac could use. NOT! Toast says “unable to recognize the format” or I get a system 50 error. How do I get these old video to my Mac in order to edit them and save that to DVD?

  • Get Photos from DVD Slideshow

    Hey there
I am running the PSE 5.0 with PE 3.0 combo. I created a slide show in PSE and sent it to PE to add some video clips to it before creating a dvd. Since doing this I have deleted the slideshow from my computer and was wondering if there was a way to just import the photos from the DVD. Some of the photos had captions added and I would prefer to not have to go through all my pics again and put them in order and add captions...you understand. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Jason

    Jason,
    >wondering if there was a way to just import the photos from the DVD
    Probably not -
If you have created that DVD from Premiere Elements, then it contains a video in which your photos appear. However, the are not actually photo files on the DVD because they have been encoded to video format.
If you have made a regular DVD (standard definition) then the images of the photo within the video on the DVD only have a resolution that is equivalent to 640x480 pixels. This resolution is lower (worse) than some cell phone cameras or your PC/laptop monitor and is not practical for printing photos.
    >Since doing this I have deleted the slideshow from my computer
1-- Did you delete both the Photoshop Elements Slide Show AND the Premiere Elements Project (file) for this video?
If you have either of the project file from PSE or from PRE and you have the actual photo files still on your computer, you might be able to get the photos in sequence with captions again.
Some more details to help evaluate alternatives -
2-- How do you plan to use these photos with Captions?
3-- Did you add your captions to the photo file OR did you add the captions during the PSE slide show editor process?
4-- Did you make a Collection of these photos to establish the sequence of photos before you started the slide show in PSE?

  • Can't get photos from DVD

Got a new computer, Had a DVD of photos from my old imac, that worked fine on it. On the new one, some of the folders open fine, while others don't. When i try to import them to iphoto, it say it can't read the files, that they are in a format that it doesn't recognize.

The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “.DS_Store” can’t be read or written.
Create a new folder on the desktop, open the folder on the DVD, and drag everything inside to it.
When did you last repair permissions?
It doesn't matter as .DS_Store files aren't ones created during the Mac OS X installation. In addition, a file permission issue when copying items will prompt a request to authenticate instead of failing like that.
Repairing permissions is important, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
This is outdated advice which shouldn't be offered any longer.
    The model identifier says 10,1.

  • Getting clips from DVD

I have some old travel video burned on DVD. I would like to capture it and import clips to iMovie. Is there a way to do this with iMovie (I tried this and it wouldn't recognize the format of the DVD)? Is there a 3rd party (Universal Binary, preferably) program that can capture DVD playback to import to iMovie.
    Thanks in advance.

Well there is the complicated way and the easy way.
Mark you the easy way needs a DV camcorder.
First hitch your camera up to your TV using the video out on the TV.
Then play your DVD on your TV and record the bits you need on your camera.
What you see on your TV is what you get on your camera. No nasty MPG4.
Then take the tape and import to iMovie.
I do all my tape transfers this way. VHS, DVD, all my old tapes.
I also do my slow motion and effects and even my PAL/ NTSC change via my TV. Yes it can be done! Real time too. No waiting for hours.
My TV has been such a friend. Sometime analogue is so useful It is as easy as that.

  • Premiere Elements 8 getting media from canon hf200

Let me start off with I have been using premiere 4 for the last year or so using a sony vx2000 camcorder and have had no problems. My computer is a dell xps 420 useing vista, 4026 ram, 32 bit O/S, ATI radeon HD 2600 XT video card. I have upgraded to a canon hf 200 with sdhc memory and have downloaded the trial verison on premiere 8. I was told that this verison will support the sdhc format that my canon hf200 prouduces. I have tryed every different setting on the camera and in premiere and the video that I import off this new camera will not play wright. It is very jerky and the sound goes off and on. I can play this camera media type on sony vegas movie maker 9 and it looks great. The only problem is I have been using the adobe for so long I dont want  to learn how to use the sony vegas. I have called adobe customer service " WHAT A JOKE", 3 times and could not get anyone to pick up the phone, I was on the line 30 min. each time. I finally got through and I swear, I could not understand a dam thing that indian was saying. And  I dont mean American indian. Can anyone help before I go crazy over this.
    Thanks, Carey

Computer optimization including frequent defragmentation is always essential to video editing no matter what the video format. And, available RAM, free hard drive space, virtual memory setup are some major considerations for successful video editing of clips whose duration is beyond a few minutes, generally speaking.
For AVCHD editing in Premiere Elements you can find often suggestions for your computer system to include a quad core processor with 4 GB RAM. A user reports that, even with that set up, his video editing is slow and has decided to go the HD conversion route. Another may say that you do not need a quad core processor, just a faster processor, giving his workflow which includes core 2 duo 2.6 GHz.

All would seem to agree that AVCHD editing demands greater computer resources than other formats, but have not found a fixed recipe for just what level where “one size” fits all.
