Getting message, "Do you want the application "itunes.app"

Ever since the last update for iTunes when I open it I get the following message. How do I get it to "accept" every time without it showing the message and bugging me?
Do you want the application "itunes.app" to accept incoming network connection?" Deny Allow

I have an even better solution for you. No uninstalling or re-downloading.
In security (located in system preferences) Click the firewall tab followed by the advanced button down the bottom. Check all the applications you want are set to allow incoming connections. Close security preferences. Then open a finder window Navigate to -> Macintosh HD -> Library -> there will be a file called, com.apple.alf.plist delete it, reboot and your done. Deleting this small file re-builds the Firewall preferences and you will no longer be asked to accept incoming network connection every time you open an app. As long as the app your opening is on the list in the firewall tab your good to go Email me at [email protected] if this worked for you

Just fixed this on my machine, the easiest way to remove this pop-up assuming you are no longer needing that software to print is the following:
    Open Finder
    Go > Go To Folder...
    Type In: "~/Library/Application Support"
    Delete All Folders Named Kodak
    Open System Preferences
    Go to "Security & Privacy"
Click the lock and enter your admin password
    Click the Firewall Tab
    Go to "Firewall Options..."
    Find KodakAiO
Right-click KodakAiOBonjourAgent or equivalent (I forget the exact name)
    Click "Show in Finder"
Go Back to a folder and delete the Kodak Folder there.
Remove Kodak from Firewall Options by selecting it and clicking the " - " button the base of the list.
       or
    Open Finder
    Go > Go To Folder...
    Type In: "~/Library/Printers"
    Delete All Folders Named Kodak
I'm going off memory, so If I forgot something let me know.

    Hi all,
I have Just started to get the above message pop up since i updated to iTunes 11.0.1. I am running OSX 10.8.2 and its all up to date. I dont want to didable the firewall un less i have to. I have check to see if iTunes is in the list and it set to allow all in coming connections. Have tryed to re-install iTunes but still not joy dont really want tohave to re-install everything if there is an easy way to stop other than turning off my firewall
    Many thanks
    Gavin

Under your firewall options you can specify what apps to let through
It would probably been better to post this under iTunes for Mac instead of iTunes for Windows

  • The latest version (10.3.1) of itunes and "Do you want the application 'iTunes.app' to accept incoming network connections?"

I keep getting this message when I open iTunes. it is super annoying and won't go away. It is accepted in the firewall in the automatically allow signed software to to recieve incoming connections. what can i do about this?

Obviously you replaced the grey icons on the left for the colored ones, by replacing the iTunes.rsrc with a hacked iTunes.rsrc file. Restore the old file and everything will be OK. If you want the colored icons wait for the updated hack for iTunes 10.3.1.

  • When starting iTunes I always get the message "Do you want the application"... My firewall is on and incoming connections are allowed

When starting Itunes the following message appears every thime:
Do you want the application "iTunes.app" to accept incoming network connections?
I always click on Allow, but it doesn't help.
I'm not using the root user to work on my mac and turned the firewall on.
As mentioned on a website I already removed the /Library/Preferences/com.apple.alf.plist file, but it didn't help.

    Found the solution:
I checked iTunes by executing the following command in a terminal window:
    codesign -vvv /Applications/iTunes.app
I reinstalled iTunes because my result was different from the expected output:
    /Applications/iTunes.app/: valid on disk
    /Applications/iTunes.app/: satisfies its Designated Requirement
I logged in as a root user.
    In /Library/Preferences/ I deleted
    - com.apple.alf.plist
    - com.apple.alf.plist.lockfile
(although I could not empty the trash bin due to the lockfile, you can after a reboot)
I clicked on the iTunes.app application and pressed command+i
In that window I allowed everyone to read/write
I've moved the application to the trash bin.
After rebooting the mac and logging in as a root user, I could empty the trash bin.
I made sure that my firewall was started again, and downloaded the latest version of
    iTunes (currently 10.5.1).
Launching iTunes doesn't give any warnings anymore because it's auto-trusted by mac.
    Hope this helps others.

  • Why is Firefox v36 asking "Do you want the application 'Firefox.app' to accept incoming network connections"? It never did before, so what should I say?

I'm on a Mac OS X 10.6.8 Have just upgraded Firefox from v35 to v36.
Every few minutes I get a message "Do you want the application 'Firefox.app' to accept incoming network connections?" It's never done that before, so why now (v36) and what should I say?
The message goes on, "Clicking Deny may limit the application's behavior. This setting can be changed in the Firewall panel of security preferences." The other option button is Allow.
The computer has always had Firewall switched on. Is Firefox suggesting I now switch Firewall off? What has changed since v35? Has Mozilla offered any information about this?
    Thank you.

    Hello FredMcD,
I wasn't suggesting they 'ask'. But I believe an entirely new and fundamental message like "Do you want the application 'Firefox.app' to accept incoming network connections?" warrants a few words of clarification.
I'm a fan of Mozilla, my comments are intended to be constructive!

I keep getting a message on startup saying 'Do you want the application "KodakAiOBonjourAgent .app" to accept incoming network connections?' It says settings may be changed in the Firewall pane of Security but I don't see how.  Doesn't matter what I click (Deny/Submit). The message still pops up on starup. • I am receiving this message "do you want the application "netsession_mac to accept incoming network connections"

this happened when i signed on today.  what does it mean and is it safe to do so?  thank you!!

I am having the same problem, seems it's been around for some time under several operating systems (I just upgraded to Lion when it hit me).
I have seen quite a few threads that link to a fix (see here) however that fix requires you to delete components with invalid code-signatures within the iTunes app and warns that iTunes might not work after that.  I am convinced that there are some components that are not working properly, I've run the CodeSign test, but just deleting misbehaving components doesn't seem the right wat to fix that!  And there is a way to get your own code-signing certificate (here) but this doesn't fix whatever code has been damaed in the first place.
So ... I am heading to my nearest Apple Genius Bar this week to see if they can help get this fixed.  I suspect there is some way they can override the "can't delete iTunes" issue and reinstall.  I will re-post when I know more.

  • Do you want the application 'iphoto.app" to accept incoming network connect

    *Hello All*
*I have been having this annoying message box popup! Also with iTunes..*
*Yes I have deleted both from firewall and accepted them again still the annoying message box popup.*
    *Any solutions???*

I had this same firewall pop-up happen to me when I ran both iTunes 10.1 and iPhoto '11.
I "fixed" the iTunes giving me the pop up by downloading iTunes from the Apple's iTunes site and installing that over my current copy. Afterwards, I no longer go the pop ups when I start iTunes. I don't know what the how, but I guess there is some difference between the iTunes downloaded through Software Update and full copy on the iTunes download site (whatever the difference is my Firewall in Snow Leopard seemed to distinguish between the two and flag the Software Update version of iTunes).
As far as iPhoto, I read in another thread to turn off the sharing features in iPhoto's preferences. I did this and I stopped getting the Firewall pop-up. This doesn't fix the problem, I guess, but it's a workaround the annoying pop ups every time iPhoto runs.
I do hope a proper fix for iPhoto arrives.

  • I want the old iTunes App back!

    Hi,
I'm using Windows XP and for years I've had no problem with the iTunes App. Either on my PC or synching with my iPhone.
Now this new Version 11 will not allow me to get into the iTunes Stores. (Yes, I have v11.01.12)
I can play music but not get the front screen to the iTunes store.
I can login and out and see my account balance at the top.
The status bar moves to 3/4 when accessing the store (after showing my login and balance) the bottom window stays white, then it crashes with an error message.
    I have...
    (1) restarted my computer multiple times
    (2) applied the Autoruns to find only Apple's Bonjour there
    (3) I have contacted my Virus App Company ZoneAlarms to be shown how to allow all Apple's sites access through my Firewall
    (4) I have run the Windows Enable/Disable Fix (both ways) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2639417 and tested this against iTunes multiple times
    (5) I have checked that my XP (SP3) OS is up to date
NOBODY SHOULD HAVE TO WORK THIS HARD FOR SOMEBODY ELSE'S EXPERIMENTAL VERSION OF A APP WITH THE END RESULT BEING THE END USER (ME) CONSTANTLY GIVING APPLE MONEY BY USING IT. (By d'ling from the ITunes Store)
This version App 11 is so slow to open compared to the old version. When closing it leaves 2 icons in the system tray.
I want the old understandable, fully functioning iTunes for PC App back.
Apple are losing business as we speak. Other people are trying all these workarounds for their development team and not getting anywhere either.
I need a link to the old App please. I've had enough of this poorly thought out version. This version isn't an improvement. It's a slow, confusing, ill functioning mess.
    MrW
(Spend some of your own money and contact ME Apple....this is rubbish)

    Hi Caroline--
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
To see shared music, you need to open iTunes' preferences and enable the "Show: Radio" checkbox in the "General" pane. That seems to affect whether iTunes will look for shared music.
Also, I've found that with iTunes 5, I sometimes need to relaunch iTunes on the "server" machine for the other copies of iTunes on the network to recognize its shared library.

  • How do I get rid of the "Do you want the application "Firefox" to accept incoming network connections?" message?

This has started popping up each time I open the firefox app on my mac. I've tried doing a fresh install and approving the app in my firewall. How can I make this go away? I'll need specific instructions - I'm fairly new to the mac.
    Thanks in advance.

hello flur, this should be gone in firefox 37 which is going to be released in 2 days. you could also try using firefox beta for the moment: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/beta/

  • Do you want the application "Office 365 service.app" to accept incoming network

I keep getting this pop up even though I have Office365Service blocked in my firewall. And this happens even when I don't have any MS apps open.

InDesign is phoning home, probably to check for updates of that spam promotion section in the startup screen.
Could also be any plugin activation mechanism, etc.
Go to System Preferences / Security & Privacy / Firewall
If there is an entry for InDesign, change it to something reasonable.

  • The application iTunes.app can't be opened (-36)

I have just but the latest Macbook Pro installed with Mac OS X v10.7.4. I am alarmed at the many applications that are not compatible. However, iTunes not being able to play an mp3 is a shocking low.
I am getting the error message in the subject line. Can anyone help with resolving this issue?
    Thanks All.

Hi again Kirk. Well, before attempting your solution I thought I would try again to move tracks to the iTunes application without copying the file to the iTunes folder. And guess what? It worked. It seems to be fine now.
The only action I have completed is to restart the computer. Perhaps I should have tried that in the first place, however, with a new Macbook Pro I just didn't expect to encounter such a basic problesm. Nonetheless, thank you for your time and effort.

  • Itunes Error : "the application iTunes quite unexpectedly

Everytime i try to open iTunes i after a few seconds of it trying to open get this error every time : The application iTunes quite unexpectedly. Mac OS X and other applications are not affected Click reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more details or send a report to Apple"
This is what i HAVE done. I started by deleting files that were not MP3's shutting down comp and then restarting. Same Error.
I then went to disk utilities and tried to do a repair. This did nothing. Same error. I tried then doing the repair followed by shutting comp down for over 30 sec. Nothing
I finally uninstalled itunes totally shut down comp. restarted Reinstalled Shut down again. Still get same error! I also followed this again by going into Disk utility and doing a repair. again nothing. same freaking error. what else can i possibly do?? I'm really hoping there is something I'm missing that will fix this!
any suggestions?? I have a Powerbook G4 version 10.4.11 if that helps at all.
    thanks!
