Getting Mocha VNC light to work

The app sounds amazing according to reviewers, and several said it was very easy to set up. However, I haven't been having an easy time setting up the app to work on my computer, can some one help me please?

In order for the Windows hostnames to show up in ARD you need to have a DNS server that is setup to allow dynamic updates from client machines so that the Windows machines can register their name with the server. You could manually update your DNS records for all hosts if you have static addresses -your DNS should be setup with some default-style name resolution to aid readability anyway. But, since most admins use DHCP for their client setups, a dynamic DNS server that is properly configured will allow this to happen without admin intervention.
It is entirely possible to do this with the ISC BIND server or with a Microsoft DNS server. You would then not need BonJour -which is intended for service broadcast and discovery and which can also be configured with a dynamic DNS server- installed on the Windows clients for name resolution as that functionality would be duplicated by a service that runs natively on Windows.
There is an additional benefit of DNS-based Service Discovery to Mac clients in that any service that is running on a server or client can be discovered by BonJour capable apps like iTunes or Safari once it is properly configured on the DNS server, especially if you are working with a highly complex, multi-subnet, network. How do I get Lighter Effects work space?

I am having problems with Lighter Effects. I can't seem to get it to open its work space. I go into Filters, Render Lighter Effects and click on it. When I do, it blinks the properties and then adds a layer naming it Lighter Effects. But it never opens the work space. It only sometimes opens up the Lighter Effect properties. And without the work space, I can't do anything with the properties anyway.
I need a way to fix this so the Lighter Effect work space appears when I click on the Lighter Effects in the Filter Render. I have just re-installed and updated Photoshop CC 2014, if that helps those out there helping people like me who are not experts at Photoshop.

Re: 3D, you should be able to, for example, open a 3D model via 3D > New 3D Layer from File. Or you could select a normal 2D layer and go to 3D > New Mesh from Layer. If you can't do this your video card does not meet system requirements or the driver may need to be updated.
If your Lighting Filter is working properly your window should look something like this:

Same exact problem with my Apple TV. Worked like a charm the first two times we used it. Haven't used it in about a month, now no Apple logo when I turn it on, or the logo appears momentarily and distorted, and then an error message from my Samsung HD TV: Mode Not Supported.

How can I get my web cam to work in Adobe Connect ?

This is actually an end user's question that I am having trouble answering to...
We use Adobe Connect to give online language classes, the end user is one of the students.
I cannot find the right Support answer to give him.
Problem:
My camera does not work when I connect to Adobe's rooms but camera works fine with other software.
Even though I suspected my old camera was working fine, yesterday I went ahead and bought a new camera.
I thought perhaps my webcam software may have been a problem, so I bought a different type camera with different software.
Even after removing all the old software, same result:
I surmised the problem might be caused by my firewall and security software, so once I tried changing the permissions for Adobe, and my Webcam, but that didn’t work.
Another time, I restarted my computer right before class and then turned off my firewall completely so there would be no interference but to no avail. I’m totally perplexed.
Isn’t there anyone else experiencing a similar problem?   Has anyone else found a solution?
I run Windows Vista with McAfee Internet Security Software. I always reboot the computer before class and open no other programs other than Google Chrome.
I now have a brand new Microsoft LifeCam Cinema Camera with LifeCam 3.5 Webcam Software.
I test my camera before going online. It always works fine.   Then I shut down the camera program and login into class.
When I “connect webcam” in the room, the light on my camera comes on (suggesting that it is ON), but only a black image is transmitted to the room.

Check to see if you have Google Voice installed. If so, remove it and see
if your problem vanishes. If not Google Voice, check to see if you have
any other communications software which interacts with your cam and
disable it. This was the problem I had with a similar problem on a Mac.

I sent the advice out to the end user, but unfortunately this wasn't the
solution.
His reply is below :-
The default resolution of my new camera is already set at 640x360, but I
went ahead and tried several lower resolutions (e.g. 424x240; 320x240; and
160x120) but none worked in the room - camera still showed up as black
blank screen. Also, as far as I can tell, I don’t have the option of
adjusting the frame rate.
I started playing around with my Internet Security Settings to see if they
might be playing a role. So far, all to no avail.
Hmm...quite a tricky one - webcams always are - maybe if he can find a way
to adjust the frame rate (?).
He's going to fiddle about with the settings a bit more and see if
something does the trick.
If anyone has had a similar problem and found an ingenious solution,
please jot on a note on this thread.

My sound on my MacBook Pro laptop only works with headphones. How do I get the internal speakers to work?

My sound will only work when I plug in headphones in the jack. When I take them out, the volume button is on mute. When I go into the sound preference it says Digital Out for the output. Sometimes I get a red light when the headphone jack is at. I have tried blowing in it and have put the jack in and taken it out numerous times to see if it will reset. Nothing. Any suggestions on what to do next?

Go step by step and test.
1.Plug in and remove the headphone.
    If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
    in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
    Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
2. Reset PRAM. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14222
    Do this twice
3. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Choose the method for:     "Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".

Keyboard light not working on boot camp!

I received some updates for the Boot camp just recently, and since then the keyboard light doesn't turn on anymore when it gets dark! I'm working on the windows XP...
I feel i made a huge mistake accepting the update!!!!

Have you tried manually turning it on?
Press the F8 button I believe to toggle the backlight
You may have accidentally switched it off or something
If that doesn't work, try F10 to brighten it just to see if it's working

Well it seems that you did not explain to us the full story. Did you change ISP's or something? Why would it not show up anymore?
What colour is the light on the time-capsule? If it's blinking amber, then you probably need to do a factory-reset. That should get it to show up again in AirPort Utility.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Unfortunately I am not that tech oriented and
cannot easily find that folder. I did notice when I was booting up the LR software
that I could accept the site where LR usually is set up or choose a place. I am
thinking that the standard location for LR software is corrupted and that if I
chose a different place it would work. I say this because whether I use my
original disc or download from adobe I get the same warning. I have 100GB of
memory on the hard drive and I have cleaned the computer with Mcaffee and free
software. What should I do next? I can't use this software and I doubt LR 5
would open up with my current problem.

Can't get my number pad to work - No Num Lock

I recently got my iMac with the wireless keyboard and noticed that I can not get my number pad to work. There is no num lock button to turn on/off, just the clear button. Can someone help me figure this out? Thanks

My numeric keypad doesn't work
The way the numeric keypad works depends on your computer, the keyboard you're using, the application you're working in, and whether the Num Lock key is engaged. Usually, the numeric keypad is used to enter numbers in a document, but in some applications you might be able to use the keypad to navigate (move around in) your document.
Press the Num Lock key to switch between the ways the numeric keypad functions.
If you have a separate numeric keypad on your keyboard, the Num Lock key is located in the numeric keypad. If you're using a portable computer, the Num Lock is a function key, marked Num Lock (F6). If your keyboard has a separate keypad but no Num Lock key, try pressing Shift-Clear.
Most portables have a group of keys on the keyboard that can function as the numeric keypad. To find the keypad, look for small numbers or symbols in the lower-right corner of keys on the right side of your keyboard. Press the Num Lock key (F6) to turn on the keypad. The green light glows on the Num Lock key when the keypad is active.

Nokia N8 Breathing Light Not Working PR1.1

Many of my co-N8ers on a forum said that after updating to PR1.1 (013.016) the breathing light is not working anymore even though it is turned ON in the settings. When I tried it on my N8, I can confirm that it is not wotking!
Can anyone try and confirm this one?

@kichIf it is the same error as my N8, then I'm afraid it's a hardware failure. The notification LED has been missing for almost a year on mine. I just finished the spring cleanup, starting with a 3-button (very) hard reset and loading the latest Belle Refresh with the Nokia Software Recovery Tool. This made no change to the LED's.
Symptoms:
* Breathing light not working
* Notification light for SMS and missed calls not working
* Charge indicator LED not working during charge - but it blinks 5 times when the shut down phone is connected to a charger
A diagnostics software list the error as: ST_LED_CONTROLLER_TEST No Minor [ 10 ]
The phone is otherwise healthy and stable so I don't worry too much about the missing LED's.
If it must develop an error while it gets older, this is not so bad...

More often than not it is hard to install new software on computers that have been thrown about.

N96 Video Light No Working

Hi,
I hoping you guys can help me. I have an N96 from vodafone running the V10 firmware and seem to be having a problem getting the video light to come on, basically when i click the button for it to come on nothing happens. Although i know the led works because the camera does flash when a picture is taken.
Is anyone else experinceing this?
Im hoping its only a software issue and will be resolved when i get around to updating to V11. but no point in updating if its an hardware issue and has to be returned.

Nevermind its a noob mistake. my first nokia in a while! I thought it was supposed to come on when i clicked the light on button and didnt know its only supposed to come on when you start recording! Woops! problem solved tho!WOO HOO! :-)

T440s or T440p for light CAD work

Hi,
I currently do some light 2D CAD work (nanocad) on my X230 (i5-3320M, 8GB RAM, SSD) this setup works for me. I've been tasked with choosing a seceond laptop for a cooworker, the most demanding task for this machine will be light CAD work simillar to my work but only ocasionally. Should get him i5/i7 4300U/4600U (T440s) or T440p with more powerfull CPU (4300M/4600M). I'm going with SSD (standard Samsung 840) and 8GB of RAM.
Will the difference in CPU power be noticable in such usage?

If your X230 works, the T440s would suffice, but future-proofing probably suggests T440p. Depends on your budget.
One thing to bear in mind is that the T440s only has one RAM slot; there's 4GB soldered to the motherboard. In contrast, the T440p still has two sockets for RAM. This makes upgrading to 16GB of RAM a problem if you need to in the future.
