Getting movies onto iPod Classic

I have just bought an iPod Classic and thought it would be useful to download some movies on to it.
It seems really straight forward to do when you read the manual; however I don't seem to have a "Movies" section in my iTunes store. Is this unique to me or to the UK? Can anyone help me, please?

When you click on the "iTunes store" within iTunes, the front page doesnt have a categories section over on the left that's labeled "iTunes STORE"? It should list "Music, Movies, TV Shows, Music Videos, Audiobooks, Podcasts, iPod Games, iTunes Latino, iTunes U". There should be other sections on the main iTunes store page such as "Top Movies", "Top TV episodes", and "What's hot", etc., that all have some movie content in them.

  • Syncing movies onto iPod Classic/Video

I seem to have some major difficulty with syncing movies and such onto my iPod.
I got my iPod last year for Christmas (December 2006), and I have tried and tried to upload videos onto my iPod, except it always says ""-insert movie here- was not copied to the iPod "Fiona's iPod" because it cannot be played on this iPod"
I don't really understand why it doesn't work.
The article that Apple officially write on how to Sync videos onto the iPod DOES NOT WORK!
Please tell me something useful to solve this problem, perhaps something you have done previously that would be of use?
    Thank you.

You can try one of three things (or all three to find the one that works best for you):
    1. Right-click on the file in iTunes and choose "Convert video for iPod". It is a long process, especially for something longer than 20 minutes, and it doesn't always work in my experience.
    2. Buy a license for Quicktime so you have the options of QT Pro. Load the movie/video into QT and then export it into iPod format with the settings you desire, then re-add it to iTunes. This is basically the same as the first option, but a bit faster because iTunes itself pretty much will eat half your computer's resources just running idle. Give iTunes something to do, and it will start to huff and puff like a 400lb. linebacker running wind-sprints. But QT is much sleeker and does the job better too. Plus QT Pro lets you do some nice things, like editing your .mp4 & .m4v iPod movies.
    3. For what you're talking about, this is probably the cheapest and most reliable option - download and install [Videora|http://www.videora.com> and then convert the file in this program. Videora is fast, simple, and works pretty darn well. Oh, did I mention it's free and has frequent updates? It's great for converting those Quicktime movies that just aren't formatted right for the iPod.

  • Loading cd collection onto ipod classic 80g

ihave 700cds to load onto ipod classic 80G via itunes but my computer only has room for approx250.Can i delete those 250 from my itunes folder and start again?how do i load them all?

To load them all you would have to buy an external hard drive to move some other things over from your computer or just have the music files on the hard drive. If you can only have 250 of them then here is what to try.
Import the first 250, then have the ipod on manually manage music etc... Drag and drop all the 250 CDs content to the iPod.
After done copying delete the files for the first 250 and then put the next set on and repeat copying them to the ipod, repeat this until all 700 CDs are on iPod.

  • Trying to get cd onto ipod touch but snching options are greyed out - I've opted to manually manage.

I'm trying to get CD onto ipod touch. copied it into ITunes library but when I get to synching 'selected playlists etc' all options are greyed out.  If I try and clink sync in bottom right hand corner it gives me warning msg that everything already on ipod will be deleted and I don't want that.  any ideas?

Head to Settings -> General -> Restrictions on your iPod Touch and make sure that restrictions for app installations are turned off.

  • Getting Movies onto the iPhone

    Hey all, it's me again.
I found a program to get Movies onto the iPhone, even though you have to at a cost. The cost is $30, and the package, where you can covert other media files, is like $50.
I only got the regular, since I don't want other media files on my iPhone.
But ****, it's a lot cheaper then paying for them through iTunes.
It's called Avex DvD to iPhone.
It works great, super fast, and the file size is about half of the other programs I've tested. Hope you guys like it!
Just letting you all know in-case you haven't tried yet.

Yes, this has been well discussed in this forum already, as a search would have brought up. You will also find many threads on using Visual Hub, Quicktime Pro, etc...
This thread might be deleted relatively soon, since badmouthing Apple or Apple products or iTunes tends to result in a quick yank...so I'll not add anything more for now.

I can get an unresponsive iPod Classic (160 GB) into disc mode...now what do I do to get iTunes to recognize it?

To get out of disk mode do a iPod Hard Reset.
Toggle the Hold switch till you dont see the red mark.
Press Menu and Center buttons simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.

  • Getting movies onto your ipod

I can't get my premiere elements movies onto my ipod classic (80Gb) - I can drag the movie into i tunes and watch it using itunes, but when I sync my ipod, it says it cannot synchronise the movie - anyone solved this problem?

Depends on how you're doing it, William.
The program will load the file directly to your iPod if you use Share/Mobile Phones and Players and then select iPod from the options.
You mention synchronizing, which seems to imply that you're using iTunes or other software to transfer the video to your device. If so, that could be a lot of issues, including what format of video you've output from Premiere Elements.

  • Getting rental films onto Ipod classic?

    hi,
Having successfully downloaded and watched a rental film on my Imac via I tunes (version 8.0.1 (12), i can not get the rental film to appear in the movies column, when syncing my Ipod.
When I go to the Movies tab on my connected Ipod, it just has the same old options of syncing all movies or unwatched etc. I had read guidance on the net saying this column should show two sub-columns saying purchased movies and rented movies, from there you can transfer the film/ sync it to the ipod.
Ipod is a 5th generation serial no. 8K7307BDV9R
Can anyone tell me how to get rented or bought films for that matter onto my Ipod?
    Thanks
    Tystie

A 5th Generation is not an iPod Classic, and the 5th Generation iPod cannot play rentals.

  • How to get dvd movies onto ipod with windows

Okay, I have finally figured out how to get movies from DVD to ipod for windows users, and it's free, with no watermarks. It involves a 2-program process. First go and download Videora Ipod Converter at http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/
Then download DVDFab Decrypter at http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm
Now after you have installed these onto your computer:
    1. Insert the DVD into your disc drive.
    2. Open DVDFab and open the DVD folder, video_ts or whatever it happens to be
    3. Select your target destination for the files to be saved
    4. Click start to begin copying the DVD.
    5. Once everything is done being saved open videora ipod converter
    6. Go to setup and select the one click profile which size of video you would like and the output of the files
    7. Go to convert and select new transcode video, find your video file and select open
    8. Wait for the file to be completed transcoding
    9. Open itunes and select file, add file to library, find the file(s) and select okay
    10. Most of you should know what to do form here

For anyone who wants to get up and running, these are the settings I use for Videora.
After days of experimenting, I settled on the settings below which seem to give a good balance between filesize and quality. There will be a bit of blockiness in the dark shadows but if it's too much, just increase the 'bitrate'. Experiment with a short video, but make sure the video you experiment with is very high quality or you won't know what is or isn't down to your settings.
Again, don't use h264. Only Quicktime Pro has h264 nailed. You may be able to get some things to work in h264 but more likely, you'll be watching a movie and it will suddenly stop, or your iPod's hard disk will start munching away to a black screen. mpeg-4 works fine in Videora, always. No problems.
    Video
    Mode: MPEG-4 > CBR
    Resolution: 320 x 240
Passes: One (two makes almost no difference except doubling the time)
    Bitrate: 384kbps
    Framerate: Input
    Audio
    Bitrate: 96kbps
    Channels: Stereo
    Sample Rate: Input
    Volume: 100%

  • GETTING MOVIES ONTO NEW IPOD 5th Generation

I would like to know how to get movies that I have already downloaded from another website onto my IPOD. Also, how do I get movies from the ITunes Store when all I can see is Podcasts and no movies/tv shows.

Apple has not secured the right to distribute tv shows or movies outside of the US. So no tv shows or movies for you.
To move video content onto the ipod it must be formatted as MP4, complying to these standards:
Video formats supported: H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per sec., Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 768 Kbps, 320 by 240 pixels, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
To do this, you need a transcoder(also called converter).
    Recommend 2 different ones:
    Mpeg streamclip(Mac and windows) http://www.squared5.com/
    Media coder(windows) http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/

  • Getting Rental Movies onto my Classic

I manually manage my Ipod in Itunes and cannot drop and drag a rental movie onto my Ipod. Error message says that video cant be played on this Ipod. Do I have to Sync? Or am I missing something?

Because the rental option is so new, there's hardly any documentation about as yet.
There was an iPod software update to version 1.1 also released at the same time as the new iTunes to allow movie rentals on the iPod, did you update that also.
Check to see what's on your iPod in settings/about.

  • Can't trasfer rented movie to iPod Classic

I can't transfer a rented movie onto my iPod Classic. It's definately an iPod Classic, not a 5th. Gen., and I've watched rented movies on it before. When I try to drag the rented movie onto the iPod in iTunes it says the movie won't transfer becuause it "cannot be played on this iPod". Any help?
    ~A

Thanks for the response although I still can't get it to work.
Once I selected my iPod and then the movies tab under Rented Movies it says "There are no rented movies in your iTunes library that can be transferred to this iPod", even though the movie (Bruce Almighty) shows up in my library under the Rented Movies tab.
