  • Getting files into idvd

ok i have this dvd of a music video made at an all night party...not copyrighted but there are 2 and i want them into dvd i'm making in idvd but i don't know how to do that
i know how to rip them with mac the ripper or save them from disk utilitly into a .dmg .cdr and .iso file but from there i can't get them into idvd
    help please???
btw i don't wanna spend any money
    thanks

if i understand your question correctly you already have two iDvd's /Dvd's (non commercial and not copy protected) that you would like to use the material from in yet another or third iDvd but you do not have any of the original project files (either from iDvd nor from iMovie).
is this correct? if so I'd recommend this handy app:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.products.htm
BUT if you do not want to pay any money whatsoever for the software that will convert your existing dvd's to a QT file/s that can be used again within i-Dvd or iMovie .....then use:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
Hope this helps but if not just come on back.

  • Cannot get Music into Itunes Library

Stumped on this one, need help. Using a PC, brought in music from external hard drive to my own. Followed posted web instructions to add folder to library. Result is all new music shows up in i tunes music folder, but not on I tunes library. Without actually playing each song individually, (physically double clicking them from I tunes music folder), how do I now get almost 30 Gig of music to show in my I tunes library. Current library shows 27 gig, should be 57 gig with new music.
    PC   Windows XP

I too can't get music into itunes. Running XP on a Dell box-of-some-kind. Installed itunes, fine. It imported most of my existing music on start-up just fine; most of the music is on two external hard drives. My music library was too big for the 80gb ipod, so I set to manual sync. It found the ipod. So far so good.
Some of the music wasn't in the itunes library after the initial install. When I went to put it there manually, nothing happened. Tried drag and drop on the library music icon. Tried "add file". Tried "import". Tried deleting the file on the itunes library, the hard drive and the ipod, and re-ripping it in windows media player (mp3 format), then tried steps above again. Nada. Rebooted, tried same steps again. Zip. It's not like these were just some folders that were missed; these are songs missing from albums, where the other songs on the album imported and these ones didn't. I even tried deleting the entire albums, re-ripping them, and re-importing them; now none of the songs in those albums will show up. I read that itunes won't copy duplicate files and won't give feedback, and I tried the posted work-around with the equivalent of the option key. Still no joy. (all the music file formats are mp3)
All this music is purchased and ripped from cd's, or is my own recorded stuff. Nothing pirated. I can uninstall and reinstall itunes, but will that be likely to resolve my problem? Running itunes 7.
Also can't import movies or anything else. Checked the help on itunes, and found nothing there. Does itunes simply have a limit to how much content it will allow in its libraries? Anybody know of a book on itunes 7 that has good trouble-shooting tips?

  • Cannot get music into Apple TV folder

My whole music library is in ITunes, all songs are checked-in, my Apple TV is recognized by ITunes and all other categories stream/sync without problem.
But I cannot get any Music from my library into my Apple TV Music folder. Not even by creating a playlist and trying to sync this playlist. As a result, I cannot play any music on my apple TV because both sync ad stream do not yield any results.
What am I doing wrong ???

  • Can't get iMovie into iDVD

I have made a movie using iMovie. It has photo's from iPhoto, music from my iTunes and video from a video camera. It is a complete home movie about 22 mins long. It includes transitions between photos for the slide show, transitions between film clips, title pages, back round music and, music tagged to specific clips. I can't get it to go to iDVD. When I select Share>iDVD all I get is movie clips. No music, no photos, no transitions. It plays perfectly in iMovie. How do I get this into a DVD???

Perhaps you can also answer a possibly related question. I have created a video similar to the one described above in iMovie. I didn't have any problem importing to iDVD, but when I burned it to a DVD the stills that used the Ken Burns effect came out terrible. They were fine when I played the iMovie version.
I have done this twice before without this problem. Looking at the Project Info on the three different projects, all fields are the same except the under Asset. On the two good DVD projects it reads "large.m4v", but the new video reads "movie".
Do you have any idea what I might have done differently or how I can correct this issue? Thanks.

  • Getting music into usable form on Mac?

Ok, my apologies up front on this. I do not use GarageBand or any other music/audio software on the Mac or anywhere else. I am a high school football coach who does a highlight video at the end of each season. For the 2006 season, I would like to have the students at the high school do the audio for the video. I would expect that the band, drum/bugle corp, jazz group, student garage bands will be participating as the initial feedback seems positive.
My question is what do I tell the musicians when they ask me what to do with their music? How do they go about recording/mixing/whatever their music into a format that I can then use on a DVD produced on completely on the Mac?
Again, I'm sorry for the complete non-awareness of this side of the Mac applications. I'm not a musician, I don't play one on TV, and I have no idea how to proceed with this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone could give you an AIFF, WAV, or MP3. I believe iDVD and iMovie support any of these formats. Otherwise, they can be converted in iTunes - this can be set in Preferences/Import.
Your students could give these to you on a disk, and you don't need GarageBand.
However, if you need to record any of them, it's actually fairly easy. I'll explain two ways - the first with one track, the second with multiple tracks:
    One Track:
The simplest way to get the band onto the Mac using Garageband would be to set up a microphone near them. Most microphones you'll find at the school will have a 1/4" jack (like the old headphones, or a guitar cable). Macs have an 1/8" input. You can get a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter at Radio Shack for about $4. You may even want to get an 1/8" splitter and use two microphones. Plug your microphone into the Line-In jack on the Mac.
Choose a new Real Instrument track in GarageBand (vocal would probably work best), and set it to mono on a single channel (microphones are mono) if you are using one microphone, optional stereo if you're using two. In the System Preferences (Apple Menu), choose Line-In in the Sound preferences panel. This gives you the input volume, which you can test by trial and error - depending on how far the microphone is from the band, you probably want it pretty loud, if not all the way up. Use headphones to test the level, or you may get feedback.
Now that you have everything set up, you should hear sound in the headphones. Press Record when you're ready.
You can cut, edit effects, increase/decrease volume or panning after the fact. The most important thing is to get it loud enough without clipping. I would suggest minimal reverb and increasing the midrange using the equalizer. All of this is in the Details tab.
    Multiple Tracks:
You can record each instrument separately. If you have a guitarist that wants to record, they can plug in directly like the microphone above - just use Real Instrument/Guitar in the New Track. They can even choose their effects, or play through a vintage sounding amplifier. After they record one part on a track, you can choose another New Track, and they, or anyone else, can record along with the previous track. This way, you can record each instrument separately - the player could play along with headphones while recording.
So this way a trumpet, drummer, bassist, etc. could play the main track, and everyone else could play on separate tracks. When you play it back, it sounds like they are all playing together. And you can edit each track after its recorded. If the guitarist used too much reverb while recording, they can change it in the details tab.
When you're finished, export to iTunes. It will come out as an AIFF, which you could use, or you could convert to an MP3 in iTunes. I would use the higher quality AIFF in iMovie/iDVD.
If you're really adventurous, you can use several microphones or instruments at once, but this would require a pre-amp of some kind with enough inputs for all the microphones/instruments. The requirements above are basically the same.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I drop an IMovie Slideshow with music into IDVD?

    Hello,
I created (and it took a long time) a slideshow with music using IMovie. Now I want to burn it to a DVD and am realizing I need to put it into IDVD. I saved it to my desktop and then dropped it into the IDVD Magic program but it does not save the slideshow. Or if it does, I can't seem to figure out how to play it. I also can't figure out how to choose the picture for the IDVD theme page. Any help with how to burn my IMovie slideshow on a DVD using either IDVD or some other way, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Or if it does, I can't seem to figure out how to play it.
Click on the "Preview" button in the bottom left corner of the iDVD window. For more details go to iDVD Help: >_Making a Magic iDVD_
I also can't figure out how to choose the picture for the IDVD theme page.
Once you have added your slideshowGo to Help: _Adding images and movies to drop zones_
Any help with how to burn my IMovie slideshow on a DVD using either IDVD or some other way, would be greatly appreciated.
I am not familiar with the workings Magic DVD, but if you have already created the slideshow, it might be just as easy to follow the regular route in making this project. If you wish to try this, follow these steps.
    1. Open iDVD, select to create a new project, and name it.
    2. Select the theme.
    3. Import your slideshow into iDVD. Go to your movies folder (or wherever your project is saved), and drag the iMovie icon (the one with the star) to the window of your iDVD project. Avoid drop zones.
    4. You can add photos to the drop zones by clicking on the "Media" Button in the bottom right corner, and then on "Photos". Just drag and drop the photos to their desired location.
    5. Preview by clicking on the triangle at the bottom of the window.
    6. When you are ready to burn, first go to File>Save as disk image. This will allow you to have a final check of your project before burning to DVD. You can see how this project will actually play when played on a regular DVD player. If everything is fine, you can then burn the DVD using Disk Utility.
    I hope this helps.

  • How to get music into iPod library other than with iTunes?

I am using an iPhone video editing app and want to add music to the clips. The option presented is to "add music from iPod library. I am presently traveling abroad and do not have my MacBook to sync music into my iPhone. There is tons of free music available online but the question is how to get any of it into my iPod library. I've tried a third party "download" app but it stores music inside the app, not in the iPod library. Are the only ways to put music in my iPod library either 1) sync from my MacBook or 2) buy from iTunes store? or are there other options?
    Thanks much.

The Jazz website you showed had Real audio files, and these won't be able to be played in the iPod app anyway.
But there are options for websites with mp3s.
There are apps that can play mp3s and make playlists, and some that can download music from legit websites and then play it.
Do a search for "mp3 play download" in the itunes store.
I have never needed one, but there are a few there that seem to offer what you are asking.
Theuy won't add the music to the ipod app, but they play themselves so that might be what you are looking for.

  • Getting music into my shuffle

I am not a new ipod/itunes user but, you know how you drag playists into your ipod on the itunes screen? Well I purchased a CD off of the music store and it will not let me drag the playlist it is in into my ipod, but it will let other playists get dragged in....It is my mom's ipod too and she is a new user and I think she might have done something to get it like this (I am TRYING to help but it's not working that well) PLEASE HELP US!!!!!!!!

You can choose purchased as long as you only have purchased music that you want to sync to your iPod.  If you have music that you imported from elsewhere, such as from a CD, you should select the Music option, which refers to your main music library, meaning it will sync any of the tracks from that section.
How long it takes depends on the number of tracks you are trying to sync.  If it's only a couple hundred, shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes at most.
    Good luck.

  • Can't get music into new ipod!

Hey - So I recently just purchased a brand new ipod touch and had to create a new apple ID because I was not able to access my old one (The email that it was registered under was deleted a while ago so I'm not sure if that was the reason why I couldn't access it or because I had just forgotten the password. Regardless, I couldn't get my password recovered and couldn't access the old account SO I just made a new one.) When I'm on my itunes program on my computer (windows) it says I still have all of my old music and apps, much of which I have paid for but it will not let me sync it to my new ipod. PLEASE HELP! I will be extremely frustrated if I have to rebuy/download it all over again!

Try recovering the password for the first account using the secret question mehtod.
