Getting music onto my nano

If i put connect the ipod nano and then open up itunes should the songs on my playlist go right on? how to i get songs onto it?

Hi There Debra,
It's a little confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be hooked!
1- Connect your nano and wait for iTunes to open.
2- Go to Edit>Preferences and click on iPod.
3- Select how you want to update the tunes on your nano--automatically or manually
4- If you select auto update for selected playlists, you can select only the playlists you want to use for updating the nano each time.
5- Once you select the playlists, they will be copied onto your nano.
6- When it's finished updating, eject your nano (in iTunes and maybe in Windows, too--not sure because I have a Mac.)
7- Have fun!
Regards,
David

Not very good with computers so any help is appreciated. Have one ipod nano connected without any problems. Have just purchased a new one for my other daughter and all the green ticks show when the cd is imported but unable to get it onto the ipod. Any ideas?

  • How do I get music onto my nano ipod

Bought a new nano ipod at Staples yesterday.   It has taken me over 6 HOURS to get the darn thing registered.  I am seriously ready to return this if things continue in this vein.  No support, no manual, no help, no info on how to use this item.
I now have 4 songs in my itunes library - 1 is a free itunes download, and 3 are from my computer, they were in the 'sample music' folder.  Not spending another cent until I figure out this thing.
So I sign in to itunes, my ipod syncs and . . . NO MUSIC is on it. I have now spent 2 hours trying to move these songs over, to no avail.
Can someone please point me to step by step instructions for using this item?    Yes, I HAVE found the online users manual, which is totally useless in trying to set up an apple ID, an itunes ID, and I've done everything it says to move the songs with no success.
I can't tell you how many times I had to fill in the info for the new account, link to PayPal, and now, every time I do anything it again asks for my email and password.  How many times does this go on?  There is something seriously wrong with the way this is going.

This is what the online manual says:
By default, iTunes syncs songs on iPod nano automatically when you connect it to your
computer. When iTunes is finished, you can disconnect iPod nano.
Well, I have not changed any default settings, at least not knowingly.  And the songs do not move.  As for disconnecting, you have EJECT the ipod and THAT took me over 45 minutes to figure out.  Seems there is a sidebar which does not show and you have magically know to use control-S to get that sidebar showing.

  • TS1510 Getting Music onto iPod nano

I don't know how to transter the album I purchased at iTunes onto my iPod.  When I go to "devices," the option "sync" is not highlighted.
Where can I find understandable instructions on how to do this, or can anyone tell me what to do??  I thought Apple was user friendly, but so far, I'm very frustrated. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!  Many thanks!

  • I am unable to drag and drop music onto my nano 6th gen!

I am unable to drag and drop music onto my nano 6th gen that I downloaded into iTunes from 2 CDs that I purchased. Older songs will still copy! Oddly, I CAN drag and drop them onto my old video iPod!

Yes! It is set up for manual management because I have way more music than will fit on my nano so I am only putting my favorites on it! It's just odd that the music on the 2 new CDs I downloaded into iTunes will not copy over! When I drag my songs to the playlist I made on my nano it acts like it is copying because I get the number of songs icon and the + sign indicating that it is copying but then the playlist is empty. The nano will say for a couple seconds that it is synchronizing but in the end nothing has transferred! If I take an older song and drag it into the playlist it does copy! Seem like it has to do with the new CDs being compatible with nano? I would really appreciate any advice! Thanks!

  • How can I get music onto my 2nd gen iPod Touch?

My mum recently gave me her old iPod, a 2nd gen. My sister tried to upgrade it up to iOS 5 but couldn't.
Every time I plug my iPod into charge it pops up in iTunes saying, "This iPod cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.1 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest vesion of iTunes."
Alls well saying that, but my problem is I'm running on version 10.4.11 Snow Tiger on a MacBook Pro.
When I go to download the iTunes it states that I need version 10.6.11 Snow Leopard.
My mother and sister both have Snow Leopard and Snow Lion but they will not let me use their iTunes.
What I need to know if there is anyway that I can get music onto my iPod without purchseing songs from the iTunes store.
    Can anyone help?

    inezkazan.

    I realized that.
This has been an outstanding problem for many months.
All I would like to know is if I can put music onto it atall..

  • Getting music onto my Palm Zire 71

I am very new to the Palm world, and I don't know a lot about computers, either.  Here's what I want to know:
    1. How do you get music onto an SD card?--Is there a slot on my computer where the card would go, and if so, how do I save music files to it?
    2. After I save my own CDS into a file on my compter, how do I get them onto the card?
I have performed a hotsync, but it doesn't update the files on my palm.  So, I dont know if the cradle isn't working or what, but, is there anoter way to get music and other files onto the Palm?
Any help would be greately appreciated.
    Thanks!

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.
There are a few ways to get music onto your card so that it will play on your Zire.  The first way is by synchronizing with the Palm Desktop.  The Zire 71 Support Page has lots of information including a link to the multimedia guide which explains the process in detail.
The second (and better) way is to drag and drop .mp3 files directly onto your SD card with a card reader...either one that is built-into your computer (if you don't know whether your computer has one or not, it probably does not), or with a USB card reader that you buy from any big box store ($10-20) which plugs into your USB slot.  The card should first be formatted in your Zire, using the Card Info application.  This should create the necessary file structure, including a folder called /audio where your music files would go.  You would take the card out of the Zire, insert it into your SD card reader, and your computer will recognize it as a removable drive.  Using Windows Explorer (or whatever the MAC equivalent is), you can just drag and drop the music files from their location on your computer onto the card, in the /audio folder.  (If the /audio folder does not already exist after you format the card in the Zire, you can create it on your computer.)
Also, I think the largest SD card that the Zire 71 can use is a 1 GB plain SD (not SDHC) card.
Let us know if this helps, or if this just leads to more questions.

  • Getting podcasts onto my nano??

Okay, I already have some podcasts on iTunes and I'm trying to get them onto my nano. I try to drag them individually to my ipod on iTunes, but it doesn't do anything.
I tired syncing all podcasts...they didn't show up on my nano. I tried again with syncing selected podcasts...again, got nothing.
Can someone please instruct me on how to get my podcasts onto my nano? I tried reading the manuels but they aren't specific enough (or something's wrong with my nano I guess)
      Windows XP

Is it possible that these podcast that you are trying to transfer to your iPod are video podcasts?
If so, you won't be able to transfer them to your iPod, since an iPod nano cannot play any video content; only the Fifth Generation iPods can.

  • Getting Music Onto my Charge

I have had two Charges that I can't get music onto. I have looked at the posts that gave instructions on how to do it but my computer, or vice versa, will not recognize my phone. When I hook it up to the computer with the USB cable the instuructions say to look in the status bar and select USB connected. The problem is it does not show this option, there are no options. I have created a music folder but have not been able to get any music into it.
I did try to take the card out of my phone and put it into the computer and download onto it that way. But again, it has not worked. It gives me a message saying I can't do it (I am sorry but I don't remember the specific message it gave as to why it would not work).
Any help would be great. Tanks.

Here is the easiest way I have found to move music to your phone or remove it from your phone.  It is the way I do it.  You should know that I use Windows XP SP3 on my laptop.  Here goes...
START:  On your Charge phone go to Settings>Applications>Development and click on USB debugging so the red colored arrow is lit up (it shows).  You can reverse this after moving your music to the phone.
Using the cable that came with the Charge connect it to a USB port on your PC.. You don't even have to turn on your phone but you can turn it on.  If a Windows screen comes up choose TAKE NO ACTION to close it.  You will not need it.
Next, on your PC go to Windows Explorer to see all your folders and files.  In the left column go down the list and near the bottom you will see "Removable Disk G" (that's your phone) although it could be E, F, G, H, or whatever on your PC.  Click on the + sigh to the left of Removable Disk G.  A bunch of folders will open up.  Look for the one called MUSIC.  Finally you now can drag and drop songs that are already somewhere else in your PC to this folder on your phone.  When you are done close out everything but read my note below.
NOTE:  You don't have to but before unplugging the phone I suggest that you look at the ICONS at the right side bottom of you screen.  One of them will say "Safely Remove Hardware."  Click on it and you will get a massage or screen that it is safe to remove the hardware.  This always is the best way to remove a removable disk.  Now unplug your phone.
Now you can use the APP Music Player already in your phone to play the songs on your phone.
Also, you can now go back to START (above)  and un-check the USB Debugging you originally checked.
BTW, page 68 in the manual will tell you how you can divide up these songs into unique Play Lists.
Anytime you want to you can return the the folder MUSIC and add more songs or remove some songs.
I type very slowly so if you REALLY like this please toss me a KUDO.  If it's not that good please forget it.

  • Getting music onto a samsung Galaxy?

    Hi,
Needing a little help please! I have talked my Dad into getting a Macbook as I love mine. Now I can't figure out how to get anything onto his Samsung Galaxy. I have iphone and am technically challenged. I have managed to get the devices paired and get music onto it via blue tooth and itunes but it sounds weird so I'm guessing that's the compatibility between itunes files and mp3? So I am thinking that there has to be a way to store the music as mp3 and get that transferred onto the Galaxy? I have put the mp3 disc back in but now it won't recognise it and it doesn't come up in finder. Guessing this is because it is already in itunes? Really appreciate any help with this
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks Kappy, we'll try Samsung. I have no idea if they are compatible, I surely hope so though. I have found work arounds for getting the address book and iCal synced in the discussions so hoping there is something that can be done for MP3's as well. My good old Nokia used to play music from my Mac no problem so I stupidly assumed the Samsung would to.

  • Can't get music onto iphone

I have a whole library of songs on my itunes library. I got them all on my ipod ok but I cannot get them onto my iphone.
    Please help

Have you sync'd your iTunes library with your iPhone? Most of the time music etc. is grayed out for the iPhone/iPod if you have it set to automatically sync. The only time it's not grayed out is if you've checked the option to "manage music manually". That may be why it's not letting you move it over manually. However if you've already sync'd it I don't know why you'd be trying to move stuff over manually anyway.
You can also transfer items you bought on your iphone (like your iBook) to your iTunes library. Just click "File" then click "Transfer items from iPhone".
    Good luck!
