Getting my family into .Mac

Please help me figure this out.
I have created an iWeb blog thing and am quite pleased with the way it has turned out.
My family and friends are Windows users. I sent them an e-mail from my Yahoo thing with this link:
http://web.mac.com/boknstet/iWeb/Site/Welcome.html
They get into the .Mac site but can't get to my blog. I've resorted to giving some of them my user name and password. The rest find the block and that is as far as they are willing to go.
Is there a way to get them to my blog without causing them to pay for a .Mac membership?

Hmmm not sure I know what exactly is going on here? You say that you give out the website address and it takes them to the .mac site? All you need to give to your friends for them to view your blog, is your website address. You can even give the short one which would be http://web.mac.com/boknstet Once they have this they should be able to navigate to your blog no problem. One thing to keep in mind is that I don't believe the commenting system will allow windows users to leave comments. For this you could look into a program called Haloscan. If you wanted you could even give out the address of your blog which would be http://web.mac.com/boknstet/iWeb/Site/Blog/Blog.html and that will take them directly to your blog page. Hope this helps. Good luck!

  • TS4002 Issue getting iCloud email into Mac

    Dear All,
I have a problem getting my icloud email into Mac
Sometimes the email came in very late and not real time
Othertime, it just does not come in at all
However, this do not happen for my icloud email in my iPhone
    All the email comes in.
    Anyone has similar issue?

Try going back to http://appleid.apple.com and changing the ID back to the original address. If you can get this accepted, then go to the iCloud preferences/settings pane, stop 'Find My ....', and then sign out. Do the same on any other devices or computers.
Then go back to http://appleid.apple.com and change the ID to the new one. Sign in with that on all your devices.
However as the address which forms the original ID is now not working it can't be validated and it's possible that you won't be able to revert to it. In this situation only Support can help you.
To contact  iCloud Support: if you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/
You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.
If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support and you may be asked to pay a fee.

  • MacBook No Fire Wire? Getting Sony MiniDV Into Mac

I am new to Mac, this is our first Mac and I am loving it. I have a Sony MniDV camcorder. I want to import the video into my Mac. My camera requires a firewire connection, but the macBook doesnt have one. Am I out of luck or is there a way to make this work. Can a firewire port be installed in the MacBook or is there an adapter that changes usb to firewire that would work?

You really need a firewire connection to do DV.
The current White MacBook (not Aluminum) has Firewire. Also the Mac Pro has firewire.
If you are in your first two weeks, you can return your MacBook and get a different model.
    Other ideas:
Bring your camera and an external drive to the Apple Store and capture your video on one of their machines. Once you have captured it to a hard drive, you will no longer need firewire.
Buy a used Mac Mini (or iMac) on eBay and capture through the Mac Mini to an external drive.
Buy an AVCHD camcorder (high definition) which will work with your MacBook through a USB connection. for movies going forward.
    Phone a friend.

  • Best way to get Component Video into Mac Pro?

Can anybody suggest any options I have?

Point taken but now you're talking about a product that is how many years old and is it even on the market anymore? Here I go assuming again, I assumed the OP was talking about a new product.
To the OP: what's your definition of expensive? I've been in live tv for a long long time, all these tools are cheap compared to what they used to cost. Geesh.

  • I run windows on my mac for school. went into windows and cant get back to mac. how would i get back to the mac i love

i run windows on my mac for school. went into windows and now cant get back to the mac i love please help

    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
    1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
    2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    3. VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
    5. VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • I can't get back into Mac OS X; it just loads eternally.

I've been running BootCamp on my MacBook Pro perfectly for months now but today I just can't seem to get back into the Mac partition (OS X 10.6.8). I was playing a game on my Windows (Vista) partition for several hours then restarted the computer. As the start up drive is set to Mac, it started to attempt to load it. It was just stuck at the grey screen with the Apple in the middle and the endless rotating circle. Then as I waited longer the Apple turned into a "no access" symbol (the circle with a line across it) and the rotating circle just kept going and going. I waited several minutes but no luck.
So I held down the power button and this time instead of letting it auto boot Mac I held down Option and chose Mac drive myself (it was an option therefore the computer does recognize that the Mac partition is there). Same result. I rebooted into Windows (which it is still able to do with no problems at all) then went to the BootCamp assistant and pressed "Restart into Mac OS X". Same result.
I've googled it and no one seems to have had this problem. Any insight at all would be great. Thanks.

Or.... even hold down the X key while starting up.

Did you purchased the Full Perpetual License from Adobe for $149.00?, if so then what has happened is that you probably downloaded the Creative Cloud trial version which has now expired.
The license key for the perpetual version will not be accepted to activate the CC version.
Uninstall the existing Lightroom and then download the one available from the link below. The uninstall process will not affect your Catalog, Preferences or personal files but will just remove the application. Install the new download and you license key will be accepted.
Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh : Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.6
If this is not the situation you face then provide some more details.

  • Does anybody knows how to get sound from my Mac Mini into my Bose Lifestyle V35?

You don't mention which version of Mac Mini that you have.  Here is some info from Apple.

  • How do I get Windows XP into my MacBook Pro?

Guys and Girls - please don't laugh at me. I'm new to the Mac domain and I'm finding it very hard to get motivated to use my new MacBook Pro more. I purchased it to run LogicPro 7, because I'm a musican and like to produce music. I'm doing that very well now; but, want to run Microsoft office software e.g. Words, Excel, etc. and I'm not quiet sure how to get those applications into the Mac. I've purchased Parallels (got the info about it from this forum) and loaded it on my MacBook. Installing Parallels placed an icon on the desktop. Now what do I do? What do I have to buy now? I assume there is a version of Windows XP for the MacBook. I just would like to be able to exchange Microsoft documents between my Vaio 505EL laptop and in general use my Mac more. I'm ready to spread my wings. (smile)
    Thanks all in advance.
P.S. I did look for a string on this topic, but didn't see anything.
You are all so advanced in the Mac world, I ashamed to have to post this to this.

You need a copy of Windows XP on a disk(preferably a unregistered copy, but as long as your not using both at the same time...PC and Mac...do the math)
Along with this you also need the Office software you want.
Parallels has a really good section on the manual that explains how to create your first VM(virtual machine)...suggest just following those directions and maybe giving it a slightly bigger partition size(default is 8GB...I would use 12-16GB)...once you have the VM created then you just need to follow the directions for installing the operating system into that VM from the Parallels manual. (its actually quiet easy to follow)
Once you have the OS installed and then you just run the VM and then installing PC software is pretty just like any other PC. Some games and other apps(Win Office is not one of them) require physical devices...i.e. Video card & drivers, to run..in paricular games. I am running a parallels vm with XP Pro and it actually seems to run better than my VAIO laptop 2.8Ghz laptop.
    Good luck

  • How can I get music from old mac to new mac?

How can I get music from old mac to new mac please?
Can't seem to make Migration Assistant work. Doesn't ask about or transfer files.

I just migrated into a new MBP from an old one.
It did not bring the music over.  Apple's instructions are to use the Home Sharing feature of iTunes.
Open iTunes on your old Mac.  Select Home Sharing under the Advanced menu.  Sign in.  Do the same on your new computer.  Then when the library appears under Home Sharing on the left-hand panel on your new computer's iTunes, you can select all and Add To Library.
    That's what Apple says, anyway.

  • HT1557 how do I get icloud on my mac?

I have both an iPhone 5 and Ipad mini which both use iCloud and which I find great as my photos are shared between the both.  I also have a Mac Book so thought I'd take the plunge and set it up on there too.  However, it doesn't appear in the System Preferences.  I have a MacBook Pro running Max OS X 10.6.8 and from viewing some documents on the Apple Website it says to go into System Preferences, and set up iCloud from under the Internet & Wireless section. The trouble is, I only have an option for MobileMe (which I am assuming has now been replaced by iCloud?).  Can anyone tell me how I get 'MobileMe' updated, or get iCloud on my Mac please?  Many thanks.

  • How do you get your contacts into groups?

how do you get your contacts into groups?

When you ask a question, please include the version of Mac OS X on your computer. iOS is not a Mac operating system.
Assuming you are running OS 10.9.1:
Open Contacts. Click File in the menu bar and select New Group. Enter the name of the group in Contacts on the left.
Go back to All Contacts (on the left) then drag and drop the names you want in that group on to the folder you just named.
Repeat as necessary for other groups.
Note that the names remain, as they should, in All Contacts, even after you have added them to a group.. You can delete a group if you want. The names will still remain in All Contacts.

  • How do I get HVX200 footage into Final Cut 4.5?

This may be a redundant question, and I am currently in the process of waiting for my upgrade to Final Cut Studio to arrive in the mail, but in the meantime, just received a HVX200 camera in the mail yesterday and was wondering if it is possible to get the footage in my computer. I followed the instructions in the operation manual and my G5 did recognize the camera as a separate drive via Firewire on the desktop which is full of .mxf files. Being new to HD video, I just did a basic Firewire hook-up from the camera straight into the computer and hoped that I would be able to capture the footage via Final Cut 4.5 HD. Obviously I was wrong. After doing some research, I've seen several ways of getting the footage into the system, most of which refer to the latest version of Final Cut Studio, but nothing much on how to get it into 4.5 other than some confusing mentions of somehow converting the footage in Quicktime files. If the .mxf files can be converted into Quicktime and then edited in Final Cut 4.5 until my upgrade arrives in the mail, can someone please help me with this? The bad news is as of now I only have Mac OS X version 10.3.7. I do plan on upgrading very soon, but was curious if it is still possible to make the HD footage editable on the system I currently are running - 10.3.7 and FC 4.5. If anybody could help, I would appreciate it very much.
    Mac G5 Dual-Processor with Final Cut HD 4.5   Mac OS X (10.3.7)

Do I have to be running the latest version of Tiger for this to work? I ask because the new Quicktime download method did not work from OS 10.3.9. Maybe I'm still doing something wrong. Either way, I'm completely confused. First of all, what mode does the HVX200 need to be in? MCR/VCR or PC/DUB mode? My main question is how to convert those .mxf files into editable and viewable Quicktime files. Can I select a "convert" option somewhere? Am I overlooking something here completely? The thing that baffles me is the Firewire cable running from the tower to the camera displays the HVX200 files on my desktop under a white-drive icon that reads "no name". I just so badly want to grab them and convert them to editable Quicktime files that my 4.5 Version of Final Cut will import and recognize. Looks like that would be a relatively easy thing to do, but apparently not. Honestly, all that I got out of the link that you attached was apparently just how to upgrade to the latest version of Quicktime which would recognize "XL1" footage, not HVX200 HD footage. The posting didn't appear to be directed towards the HVX200/FCP 4.5 solely.
In your original posting, you mentioned that FCP 4.5 would actually allow HVX200 footage in or at least knew a way to go about getting the footage into a system like mine. My question is, from your personal experience, can you give me a more accurate step-by-step description of what I need to do from hooking up the HVX200 to the G5 tower via Firewire and so on....
It just seems that only upgrading Quicktime doesn't really get me anywhere near where I need to be. As I just try to figure out the common-sense of this all, it sounds like the computer IS recognizing the camera and the P2 card - hence the icon the appears on my desktop full of my video files labeled as .mxf files. So from here, the only thing that I can figure is that the only way to see my clips are to convert those files into another file (such as Quicktime) that FCP 4.5 wouldn't have any trouble reading??? CORRECT???? Seems like this is the only way it's gonna fly on the system I have...until I get the FCS upgrade. That said, I've got a two week wait and I'm impatient to watch my footage on my high quality Apple monitor!!
Sorry to be a bother about this, but any additional help is welcomed!

  • Can't Get Back to My Mac

I have tried without success to get Back to My Mac working since downgrading from MobileMe to iCloud.  It can find some of the Macs on my network but not others, and it's never the same ones that get found or not found from one day to the next.  In addition, I can't connect between Macs on the LAN using Back to My Mac even though they're all signed into the same iCloud account.  I have UPnP enabled on my router and have opened the necessary ports per the troubleshooting guide on Apple's website, but nothing resolves the problems.  Does anyone have Back to My Mac working correctly with a non-Apple router?

I use a supplied router (o2) as the DHCP server and a number of extremes in bridging mode to extend my local network. The networks at my offices all use non Apple routers,. Back to my mac works across my LAN and my WAN but doesn't seem to be able to wake sleeping macs across the WAN.

  • Install aborts on iWeb install - can't bypass/reboot into Mac OS

During a re-install of Mac OS 10.4 on new iMac4 (Intel), the install halts on DVD2, iWeb install (just 1minute left!!).
Now when I restart it keeps retrying the install and dies at same spot every time. Log shows "no such process" for iWeb install.
I've rebooted while holding "C" key - but can't figure out how to get it to abort the install.
I'm a Linux person - what rc file and/or disk file is causing it to boot into install mode? Can I disable this so I can boot into Mac OS? Since the install was almost complete, if I can boot into Mac OS I'm sure I can reinstall iWeb from the web.
Suggestions? Download a DVD image for disk 2 and burn a new DVD??
    thanks
