Getting my mov to load faster

I created an 1080i imovie'09 (116 megs) and used iSkysoft to reduce the file size down to 24.9 meg .mov file. (720x480)
I then asked my web master to place the .mov file online to test it. It looks fantastic but takes a long time to begin to play. Once it begins playing it runs smooth without stopping.
Any advise on how to maintain the smooth playing performance but get the .mov file to load faster.
Noone will wait that long for the mov to play

Thanks Ideasmiths. I did try Soluto, but then i uninstalled in. I noticed the software sends back through to themselves all the startup info and stats of your machine. I didn't have time to read through and understand the implications of it all, so i wasn't comfortable with it.
I did notice Soluto could delay loading stuff like the VPN etc, which made a difference to the boot up time. But I also figured if the SW could do it, there must be a way i can configure it myself to do the same thing?
And I guess in a way thats what i'm asking - how can i delay the startup of the non essential SW that can't be set to Automatic (Delayed). Agree, I'm not after all out boot speed at the expense of system stability. And there is SW i still need, but I don't need them at startup.
ColonetONeill, thats exactly what I want to do - delay the startup of the antivirus, the VPN, and the backup software. But I'm not sure how to do that. I completely disabled the VPN, and it shaved 3s off the boot time.

I have use both the optimizers mentioned above. The only time my site gets messed up is due to user error. User = me!
WSM has been around for a few years and has quite a bit of a learning curve. Once you have it set up properly it works fast and flawlessly.
If you are new to optimizing, I would recommend you download the trial of WebCrusher. It works very simply - drag, drop, publish.
The demo is fully functional but time limited. Using it will give you an idea of what improvements are to be gained by optimizing.
WSM only optimizes 50% of your files in the trial version but it will give you a chance to try it out and see if the application twists your mind out of shape!

Dreamweaver/Flash/Getting pages to load faster

I am working on a site in CS3 Dreamweaver that uses Flash
Videos (.flv). Unfortunately, these videos are taking forever to
load (sometimes they do not load at all) when you visit the site
(each video is less then 30 MB). I am currently using the Godaddy
Premium account as my hosting server (it's not a dedicated or
virtual server). Is there anything that I can do to get these
videos to load faster?

30Mb is a lot. You need to find a host who provides Flash
Media Server -
that will help with the streaming of the videos.

Flash player shows "Movie not loaded" on Firefox 7; would 32 bit version or mode solve?

Flash Player 11.0.1.152 is loaded on my machine. Firefox 7.0.1 is my browser. Running Windows 7 Home Premium. Flash content which worked before now does not. When I visit Flash enabled sites, the display area for the Flash content remains blank. When I right click in the display are, I get the "Movie not loaded" message. I have seen suggestions that the current Flash version does not work in 64 bit browsers. Is a 32 bit version of Firefox 7 available or is there a way to run it in 32 bit mode? Does it sound likely that this would resolve the issue?

This computer has two different versions of Flash Player for Internet Explorer and two different versions of Flash Player for other browsers.
A clean install is recommended:
Windows
Download the current 32 bit uninstaller Uninstaller for 32 bit Operating Systems
Close all browser windows and run the uninstaller
Restart Windows
Delete all remaining files and folders located in the following directories. (tip: copy and paste these paths into the path bar in an Explorer window)
C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flas
%appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player
%appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player
Verify that the file “FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl” in C:\Window\system32\ for 32 bit systems has been deleted.
Download the following installer files:
32 bit Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
32 bit Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Physically disconnect from the Internet and run the installers.

Why is swf AS2.0 results in error "Movie not loaded" on player10 ?

Movie Not Loaded error

Hi, I am making a Flex website using Flex Builder. When I test my site locally everything works fine, but whenI export it and upload the files to my server the site does not load, when I righy-click on it I get a 'Movie not Loaded' message. Anyone knows what's going on?

If that's a CS3 file (Flash 9), I can't open it... meaning I should be able to because I have CS3, but it is acting like it's a CS4 file (Flash 10) which I do not have.

Getting a movie to be playable before it fully loads

I'm building a site with quicktime movies. How can I get the movie to be playable while it's still loading? Right now you have to wait for the movie to fully load before you even see the controls.

The "fast start" (progressive download) feature is both a property of the file and a special (autoplay="true") html tag of the Web page. It is an option found at export that many users overlook. It is also "turned off" by most of the default iMovie exports.
Using .Mac servers the Homepage feature defaults to autoplay="true" while iWeb software uses "false".
You would need to edit the html page code (after the file is published) when using iWeb to alter the tag code. New to iWeb 1.1 (and 1.1.1) is that they place the .mov file into a .js (javascript) file. It's hard to find for many users.
Maybe, if you explained where your page code is hosted, we could examine it and make some better explanations.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't, but you have a few alternatives.
Best option: If you made the movie on the DVD in iMovie (or even another editing application) and still have the project, go back to the project and export it for Apple TV (using the Apple TV preset)
Next best option: If you still have the original movie that you put on the DVD, open it in QuickTime and export it for Apple TV (using the Apple TV preset)
Worst option: Use something like Mpegstreamclip (Quicktime Mpeg2 playback component required) to convert the DVD to h264.

1) Backed up the existing profile (presumably corrupted somewhere);
2) Deleted the existing profile;
3) Moved the existing Firefox to the Trash and downloaded a fresh copy;
4) Started Firefox (thus allowing it to create its default profile)
5) Copied the following files from the backup copy of the previous profile: places.sqlite, key3.db, signons.sqlite, permissions.sqlite, persdict.dat, cert8.db ---

Welcome to the Apple Community.
I doubt port 80 is blocked, that port is used for http, which you might recognise as the basis for the world wide web.
The message you get can be as a result of an extremely slow Internet connection, you can test your connection speed using speednet.com, however more commonly it's a simple error that can be corrected by unplugging and restarting the Apple TV and/or restarting the router.

Getting Faces to load faster

I'm interested in optimizing Faces tagging to get the Faces Library to load faster.
I've seen several forums regarding the slowness in getting Faces to load, primarily due to it needing to dynamically build the library each time it loads.
I'm looking for any helpful tips which "may" help getting the Faces library to load faster. Right now it's taking about 15 seconds to load.
Is the loading time based on :
* overall number of pics in the library?
* number of tagged faces I have on my corkboard?
* number of untagged faces?
Basically I know the number of pics has an impact, but I'm wondering if it helps to reduce the number of tagged faces, then I can remove some. Or if it helps to ignore all the faces which I'm not interested in.

I don't know if this will be helpful but it sounds like you get the general architecture or the way Faces work but have not connected the dots so let me give it a try for you.
If you try to load global faces view but have many unconfirmed faces it will be slow. It will also be slow when you try to look at one face when there are many unconfirmed matches because Aperture is looking for all the possibilities in the entire library.
So...
To make it faster just confirm your faces don't leave a bunch of possibilities out there.
Also realize that you can use the faces view at any library level - you don't have to use it on the global view. For example, say you have a bunch of projects that have nothing to do with your family and a bunch of projects that contain family images. If you don't care about the faces in the non-family projects just create a folder, deposit all family projects and use the faces interface on that folder vs all of you projects. Slice and dice for whatever works for you.

Unless it has recently changed you can only watch rentals on the device or mac you rent them on.

Can't get Simple button to Load Movie Clip

Hi I've looked around for the answer to my question on this
forum
but havent found it so here it goes. I am working on this
company's
Flash site that was built by an outside studio. I am using
CS3.

of. The site is basically 5 different pages or movie clip.
What I am
trying to do is basically change the "Spring Break" middle
graphic
(which is a Movie Clip) on the HOME page and add a simple
button
that will direct the user to a new page. When I replaced the
graphic
with a new Movie clip there was no problem but I have added
a
button to load a new page (movie clip) and nothing happens.
This
button is in the movie clip of the new graphic which is
called up
when the page loads. If i take this button and just put it
on the
Main Stage in Scene 1 by itself it works and loads the page
(movie clip). It does not however when it is embeded in the
Movie
Clip. The Flash site is basically 5 different Movie Clips
loaded into
an "Empty Clip". This empty clip has a timeline with each of
the
clips labeled and with their respective sized placeholders.
And
when you click on either the links on the Nav bar or the
graphic
for each page it loads that movie clip on the main page. It
seems
like the button only wants to work on the main timeline. I
have
even replaced the code for the "Contact" button with the code
for the new button and it worked (opening new page). Here is
the
code for the new button that does not work:

I know the location and height from the above code are
referring to the placement and sizing of each movie clip
in the "Empty Clip". As i said before this heightAnimation

I will upload the main chunk of the code that resides
in Scene 1 on the first frame of the "Actions" layer.
If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it very much!

"Movie not loaded..." swf error on html

Hi everybody!
I have a problem when i export a swf and html in flash, because when i upload it to my server and try it online i get the message "Movie not loaded..." when i click in a blank window where it should have played.
In the activity window i can see that everything is loaded (such as the AC_RunActiveContent.js file) and i know that my server is configured to swf and flv in MIME types.

When it opens the menu buttons should appear immediately such as small animation in loop and the file should load fast because is less than 400Kb.
Well, the swf loads images and texts from xml files and also some tween animations in a folder. It seems everything is uploaded with the right path (i´m going to confirm that some more times).
But also the site index with an .flv animation and 2 flash buttons without any external linkage isn´t appearing at http://www.dscdesign.org/
