Getting my project to fit in a 4.7 DVD

My project is 5.0 GB. Too big for a 4.7 GB. I spent 14 hrs Compressing my 1.5 hr movie and I don't want to do it again if I can help it. Also, I'd rather use a standard DVD than a Dual Layer. Can DVDSP4 do anything to compress it further just as long as it fits inside a 4.7 disk?

with your machine it shouldn't take that long.... I just compressed a side job on my powerbookG4 1.67 that was 94 minutes long it only took 7 hours... using compressor use best quality 90 min. change your bit rate from 6.2 to  6.0 or 5.8 ;   that should be more then plenty to compress your video to fit 4.7. I would recomend you keep the bit rate the same for all the sequences you send.
Here is a few things to consider when authoring to save space if your encodes are too big.
1. if you can... Always use best quality 90 min.
2. 6.2 is the default bit rate, you can take it down to 4.5 before the quality really takes a dump... (depends what you video is) do not go higher then 6.2 though.. some DVD players don't accept higher bit rates.
3. Transitions in your menu... they take up space... but when you need to save space... use a transition from your main menu to your play all only... no reason to take up space if its needed between menus.
4. Menu time length! you will notice when you have your menus selected that in the bottom right corner you have in your "general" tab a....  "start, loop point, and end"  with timecode under it. take your menus from 30:00 to 20:00 or 15:00.   this makes a pretty big difference if you have a lot of menus and need the space and don't have a song that is a specific time.
i have gone from 5.2GB to 4.7 by changing all of those things so i didnt have to re-encode....
which brings me to my next point... when using compressor...
try to make all of your "video sequences" equal 3.8GB MAX your Audio will take up the rest.  you can check the estimated size after changing your bit rate in compressor.  the inspector will tell you anything you need to know.
I have compressed 3 hours to one DVD using a 3.0 bit rate. because there wasnt a lot of movement it looked fine. but those are my recommendations.

No problem! If you're worried about more complicated edits (which in all honesty, should work no matter how many clips you select or how many effects are attached to them), you can always compound a clip first, and then copy it over after if you're afraid of lots of track clutter getting in the way. Not sure if they would break apart afterwards though if you wanted them to.

you can update from iMovie versions 7, 8 and 9, but iMovie HD is iMovie 6.
Maybe you can update in two steps, first from iMovie 6 to iMovie 7, 8 or 9 then to iMovie 10.

Need to get this project exported asap (CS6 (6.0.2)) (all details provided)

Been working for a while with a slow workflow, I didn't feel like I needed to upgrade anything, because I always got the work done (somehow)..
The file size is close to 900 MB, but there is no way I'll be able to get this project exported in a good quality (with low/average settings it freezes 5% in).
I'm going to get a new machine in the near future, but this project need to be delivered now. What steps shall I take? Thanks

Yes there are a few open gaps (intended, can be filled by "black videos" obviously- will that help?).
No third party effects.
Several effects have been applied. Too many to mention ("transform", "mirror", color changes, contrast changes etc).
I can render and export each nest separately. I think the encoder "gets overwhelmed" when it has to read the whole project (which is why I think it will be useless to try to get a proper result with my current system). Thanks

I was playing around with the screen size and not can't get the picture to fit the screen. How to adjust the screen size? I tried everythign in the disoplays setings and can't get it right?

Open Preview and open Customize Toolbar. Install 'Zoom to Fit'.

may you have directly imported clip to timeline without copying it to local drive..
update project for links and check if missing clips are there..
reconnect it if you have it on local drive..

If you want to sync it to the iPad from that Mac, you need to upgrade it to at least 10.5.8.
If you want to copy the music to another Mac, you don't. Move the iTunes folder of the item in the Finder's sidebar over as you would any other folder. If you put it somewhere other than the Music folder, launch iTunes with the Option key held down and point it to that location.

Getting an image to fit across width of browser

Hi
Im trying to get an image to fit across width of browser - I thought i could do it as you would a shape ie size image until red line appears both sides so it will fill automactially as same as a shape. However when I do this it just isnt working - it doesnt stretch across width of browser.
I do realise that I can use BROWSER FILL - however as i already have an image for footer i've used this function which works well. Ive also tried combining the image and my footer as one large image using browser fill - however this doesnt work as when the image is scaled up on a large monitor it puts everything out, as it is just treating it as one large background image.
So my question is - is there anyway I can get an image thats placed to fill browser width without using browser fill?

It works, but when I try this, my image is cut in the length (cutting is different, it depends on witch screen you look).
He don't scroll in image.

Site properties:
Scrollbars browser: always (vertical, horizontal)

So I'm trying to get a window to fit my mac. Its a window on pokerstars if that helps, so no minimize/maximize. The window is actually too long vertical ways to fit the screen so the bottom is cut off? I hid bottom toolbar but still no help :-/ any help?

can not get the screenpicture to fit the screen. problem acurred after hooking up to an external screen. tried everything in screensettings, but the screenpicture is larger than the screen

When you slide the cursor to the edge of the screen, does the screen image scroll, allowing you access to everything (menu bar, Dock, etc.) even though you can't see all of it at once?
If it does, go to the Apple menu and open System Preferences > Trackpad. Is the box for "Screen zoom" checked, under "Two fingers"? If so, press the Control key and drag two fingertips downward (toward you) on the trackpad. Does the screen image zoom down to normal size?
Another possibility is pressing Option+Command+8. If System Preferences > Universal Access > Seeing > Screen Zoom has accidentally been turned on, this will turn it off and return your screen to its normal size.
