Getting new slideshow defaults to stick
I would like to set up my default slideshow settings so whenever I feel like it, I can click on an event or face or whatever, and play a slideshow in snapshot mode, with no music, that's randomly shuffled. In theory, I should be able to start a slideshow, click these settings and tick 'set as default' to achieve that. However, I can't seem to get all three settings to stick for the same slideshow, let alone all future slideshows. Sometimes a setting will stick, sometimes it won't, so I'll have a standard slideshow, but no music, or a snapshots slideshow with music, or whatever. I can't seem to manage to persuade it to keep all the settings I specify, every time.
No one else seems to report this problem, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but it's beginning to really annoy me! Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
Lusule
then what does the 'set as default' tick box do?\
Also, regardless of that, I can't get settings to stick just for one slideshow. If I choose 'snapshot' view it resets the music and settings, if I choose 'no music' it resets the settings and to classic view, if I choose 'shuffle photos' it resets to classic and with music. I can't seem to get all three options even for one slideshow. Sometimes, if I'm lucky, I can manage to get snapshot and music, but then it won't shuffle and when I try to change that the others reset. These slideshow options have really confused me.

I have a new MacBook Air and don't know how to get info from my USB stick and get info from my SD card. Can anyone help, please?
Plug the stick and/or card into the appropriate slots on the side of your Air. Do you see icons for the devices appear on the desktop? Click into them to see what files are there.

I am unable to eliminate pop-ups. Firefox is opening every time with pop-up blocking disabled. I manually check the box and am good for that session, but blocking is disabled again when I open a new session. This is a new problem, as I have used Firefox for many years without pop-ups. It may be coincident with upgrading to Firefox 4. How can I get pop-up blocking to stick?!
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:

How to I get new tabs to open to the correct home page?
When I open new tabs they just go to a Google Search page, which is very frustrating, especially when I open a new tab and try to type in the URL bar but as soon as it finishes loading Google it blanks out what I typed in and goes to the Google site. In other words, "blank" new tabs do not open to the Favorites page or even my home page. They open to Google. How do I change that? In other words, how do I get new tabs to stop opening to Google and start opening to either my home page or the Favorites screen? Thanks!
You can modify the <b>browser.newtab.url</b> pref on the <b>about:config</b> page and set it to the desired page to open.

I recently ported my project to a new PC. Everything seems to run fine uncompiled, and I am able to build an executable without issue. However, my build specification shows up in the project explorer with question mark next to it. When I try to build again or edit the properties I get a popup with the information below:
Error 7 occurred at Get LV Class Default Value.vi
Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW: File not found. The file might be in a different location or deleted. Use the command prompt or the file explorer to verify that the path is correct.

I've seen messages from people getting the same error when trying to run a compiled executable, but mine actually runs fine. I am just unable to open the build specification to rebuild or edit its properties.This application is for a Windows machine, and I am not using the Report Generation Toolkit. However, I shut down my computer last night and when I booted it up this morning my Build Specification now opens fine and I am able to edit it. My only thought as to why it occured in the first place is that I had added several files to user.lib and instr.lib and restarted LabVIEW, but it appears that it required my computer to be restarted as well.

I have a program written which uses the print report function. Everything works fine in the uncompiled code, my report prints just fine. I can compile my project all the way to a full installer. When I run the executable I get the error:

"EMS V3.0 streamline.vi" is my main vi, "print report.vi" is the subvi that creates and prints the report based on all the information sent to it. I get no warning when I compile this to an executable. I already tried repairing both LV SP1 and the report generator toolkit. No change after I compile to an exe.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Garrett HerningOk, I tried that... and now I get an error when I try to compile to an executable... This is right at the end of the build and will not let me build an executable.

how do you shuffle the image order when creating a new slideshow in apterture 3? i would like to do this automatically when creating a new slideshow. i see how you do it with presets when you just play a slideshow, but i don't see an option to randomly shuffle the slide order when you create a new slideshow. i know you can sort it by different fields, but i want it to be random. thanks.
If you want to rearrange images in random order you can try an AppleScript:
retrieve a list of selected images from Aperture
shuffe the list properly
create an album in Aperture and add the images from the list to the album (make sure that the album set to be orederd manually)
Here is a sample script that shuffles the selected images and displays them in random order in Full Screen Mode:
on removeItem(ims, i)
-- remove the item at position "i" from a list ims
if ims is {} then return {}
if (length of ims is 1) then return {}
if i < 2 then return rest of ims
if (i = length of ims) then return (items 1 thru (i - 1) of ims)
if i > (length of ims) then return ims -- should be error?
return (items 1 thru (i - 1) of ims) & (items (i + 1) thru (length of ims) of ims)
end removeItem
on shuffle_items(ims)
-- shuffle the items of the list "ims" randomly
local numitems, ims_shuffled, nextrest, nextpick, i
set numitems to length of ims
if length of ims < 2 then return ims
set ims_shuffled to {}
set nextrest to ims
repeat until nextrest is {}
set i to (random number (numitems - 1)) + 1
set nextpick to item i of nextrest
set beginning of ims_shuffled to nextpick
set numitems to numitems - 1
set nextrest to removeItem(nextrest, i)
end repeat
return ims_shuffled
end shuffle_items
on shuffleIms()
-- retrieve the selected images from Aperture
-- and display them in random order in full screen mode
local imageSel, shuffled, i
tell application "Aperture"
activate
set imageSel to (get selection)
set shuffled to my shuffle_items(imageSel)
set fullscreen to true
if imageSel is {} then error "Please select some images."
repeat with i from 1 to count of shuffled
reveal {item i of shuffled}
delay 3 -- chnage that to the time you want
end repeat
set fullscreen to false
return shuffled
end tell
end shuffleIms
shuffleIms()
Some more code snippets to go from here:
To create an album:
tell library 1
if not (exists album "shuffledAlbum") then
make new album with properties {name:"shuffledAlbum", image version:shuffled}
end if
end tell
And to add the images from the shuffled list to the album:
repeat with i from 1 to count of shuffled
duplicate item i of shuffled to album "shuffledAlbum"
end repeat

How do I get my slideshow in Photoshop Elements to make a DVD in Premiere?
I make my slide shows in Photoshop Elements and put them into Premiere Elements to burn them to a DVD and play it on my Blu-Ray player. I have made seven of these in Photoshop Elements 8 and Premiere Elements 8. They are about 30 minutes long. Sometimes it will work and sometimes it won't. The people at Adope Photoshop Elements told me a number of different things to do - each person trying something different.
I bought Photoshop Elements 9 and Premiere Elements 9 and have a new computer. Today I burned, by hit and miss, two DVD copies of a 30 minute slide show. They are perfect.. Now I can't get a different slide show to open up in Premiere Elements. It says Serious Error. Premiere is shutting down. It does not shut down. I did get it to burn one, and it left me with pictures with black all around them.
My pictures were 8x 10 and "Crop to fit" Today I learned they were way too many pixels. and to 1,000 x 750 pixels. I made a short slideshow doing this, and still couldn't get it to open in Premiere Elements.
When I finish making a slideshow, I go to Output and Save As a movie file. When this is finished I go to Output Edit with Premere Elements. When Premiere comes up I click on Open Product. From there I'm lost on just exactly what to do. Once I get the slideshow up on Premiere Elements I have no problem going to Share and burning the DVD.
Is this a common problem having problems getting the slide show to Premiere Elements, or just a lack of knowledge? I would someone telling me in simple steps just exactly what I need to do once I get to Premiere Elements.
Photo LearnerThank you very much!!! That did it!

I can't get to slideshow module in 1.3 "an error occurred when attempting to change modules".
I am running Leopard 10.5.1.
Can anyone help?
DanI am still hoping that someone else has had this problem and knows a fix.
I have called tech support and I have learned that the only way they know to fix this is for me to create a new user account. If I create a new catalogue in the new user account I can then use Lightroom and the slideshow.
Obviously the hassle of moving everything into a new user account is not something I relish and am still wondering if anyone else has any ideas.

Is there a way to get new album index styles?
I would like to use a different album index style other than the one offered in I web. Is there a way to get new ones or make different styles?
unless apple provides tools and guideline/tutorials, you will have to copy+paste.
but that is very limited because html snippet display your code in an iframe, which means static size, dead zone, can't inject code onto your page and you can't do anything complex.
with real iweb widgets, you can do away with all the above.
here is Lytyebox slideshow using iweb photos page: http://iweb3widgets.cyclosaurus.com/Lytebox/Photos.html
here is a complex widget to inject code onto the page and be stealthy: http://temp.cyclosaurus.com/revolving/CodeInject.html
btw, I'm on 30+ widgets with no help from apple... what about iweb experts?

How can I change the settings on my iPhone 5 so that I get new emails automatically? Without having to open the mail app.
Thanks!No, they will all follow the default setting. If you want them all to fetch, for example every 15 minutes, then set it to 15 minutes in Fetch. I only mentioned the other if you wanted to leave one for manual. I have an account on my phone that is a POP account that I get mail at home from. I let my home computer get this mail, but when I am out of town, I pick it up with the iPhone. That one is set to manual.

GPS info doesn't get to Aperture from Photo Stream
Took pics on iPhone 4s. They locate fine on the phone, but when they arrive at Aperture 3, and I move them to an existing project, the location info is gone.
