Getting "no longer supported" message when opening gmail though Safari on Windows based laptop. Are others having problem? Any solutions?

I have been using Safari to access a gmail account for about a year. Today, I got a message that Safari is no longer supported by gmail and I need to upgrade. But I'm using the latest version of Safari. as far as I can tell. Anyone else getting this message? Is there a solution?
Also having issues with yahoo mail, as of today, when using Safari, but I'll post that on a separate forum question. I am mentioning it here because I wonder if the 2 are related. Gmail message appeared for first time today but I was getting this message from Yahoo earlier this year. I tried the work around found on this and Yahoo forum but could only get "basis" to work on Yahoo. .Today, even basic yahoo is not acting the same, reformating and showing commands in the text when I try to reply to an email. Annoying.

Google seem to have decided in the last week or so that Safari 5.x, which is the newest Safari version available for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard) is "not supported" any more, even though there are many reasons for staying with these OS X versions.
Try this (at your own risk, but it works for me), as it seems to remove the message by tricking Gmail into thinking your Safari version is newer:
-- Quit Safari
-- Locate the following file (location depends on your OS X version):
OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard:
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/WebKit2.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Info.pl ist
OS X 10.5 Leopard and older:
/System/Library/Frameworks/WebKit.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Info.plist
-- Drag the file to your Mac's desktop to make a copy. Also make a safe copy somewhere else eg your Documents folder, as if you lose or mess up the file Safari will not launch at all. Having a backup browser is also recommended.
-- Double-click it to open it in TextEdit
-- Locate the CFBundleVersion value (the last line in the file that has numbers in it) and increment the second digit of it to the required version of Safari e.g. Safari 6 now seems to be the minimum version that Google support so change the second number from 5 to 6 (don't change anything else, only the change the second number). The value is different depending on your OS X version but as an example, for Snow Leopard 6534.59.10 becomes 6634.59.10
-- Drag the file back from the desktop to its original location, choose the option to replace the old version, and enter your password when prompted.
-- Run a permissions repair in Disk Utility to set the permissions in the file back to what they should be (not required, but good practice).
-- Launch Safari and test Gmail.

Try downloading the songs from a different device. If you are doing it from your iOS device, try form your computer.

I to am having the same issue. I have a admin account and logged into it as well and still have the same message pop up. Contacted live support the woman i spoke with had to send it up higher. We went through every thing including her trying (taking over as a host on my laptop) still have not bee contacted this June will be a year that i have heard nothing from them sine She di everything she could and pushed it up higher.

I have the ipad2 with the latest Os upgrade. On certain websites, I get the following error message: cannot open page. Safari cannot open the page because the network connection was lost. I have rebooted, turned off wifi and reset the password.

This is happening to only certain websites. Unfortunately, the work ones that I need to access. I appreciate any help.

Do you have any other browsers on your iPad? If you don't have one, why don't you try downloading one of these free browsers - they will all be "lite" versions (not full featured) - but if you can access these websites with one of those - then I assume that we can point to Safari as being the culprit. That will not solve the Safari problem, but it will give us another point from which to work.

I have Mercury, iCab Mobile, Opera, Dolphin and Atomic. iCab Mobile - the paid version is great.
BTW ... have you tried to access these sites from another WiFi connection - like a library, a friend's house - any other WiFi network?

If you can't reinstall Firefox yourself then you need to contact your IT department and ask them to check the Firefox installation.
It is possible that some files got broken with the latest update.

I am getting a new error message when opening Firefox, this is after I restarted my computer and uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox. Can someone help?

I see. Well, I just tried to make IE my default browser, but it did not solve the problem. I receive the same script error when I view the image. (I may not have explained this thoroughly enough at first - I do get to view the image after answering the error message, but the print button embedded in the window doesn't work. Before, I never had a problem with viewing or printing.)
I imagine that at this point I will either need to communicate this to the IE people, or possibly revert to an older version of IE.

VBScript message when opening URL's in new window.

I've got a folio that uisng buttons to oopen up some external URL's. On some of them I get this error message

And some work fine. I can't find any difference in the method of making the buttons or any consistency. Has any one else seen this message before?

Does Firefox or other browsers let you onto those sites? If so, try Reset Safari in Safari Menu. And a long shot from another thread is to be sure automatic date box is checked in Sytem Prefs Time & Date.

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. Any change?
Select the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and uncheck the box marked
Stop plug-ins to save power
Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Log out and log back in. Any change?
Enable Private Browsing in the Safari menu. Any change?
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?

Not to sure what type AVI files they are, the storage devise is at present offshore on a job.
Can you clarify, if you edit/import video footage with adobe premiere 10 and then create a file, the file or the original raw footage is not stored on computer for re-use, if it is stored, is it stored in the original format.

Try contacting iTunes via email to check if there is an issue with the account. go to apple.com/support/itunes
Click on iTunes Store account and billing and select inquiries. On the right side click on "email us".
Before doing that trying viewing your account information first. Open the iTunes on you mac, look at the menu and select store and select view my account. Try removing the card (this is only applicable if you don't have a pending charges with iTunes) and hit done. Sign out, quit iTunes and sign back in and try updating the apps again.
