Is there any way to get notifications from nm-applet WITHOUT running a full DE and WITHOUT running a system-tray?

Not getting notifications from messaging and email apps

Hi.
I do not receive email and SMS notifications in most cases. I have to manually open the apps and check if I've received any text messages.
Also I've been using the OpenWapp client for WhatsApp. Sometimes, I do receive notifications from the app, but on clicking upon them the app does not open.

Getting Notifications from SecurityPanel

Suppose at any point in a web application which places Web content over Flash content, a user decides to turn on the camera. This pops up the security panel. Because the security panel is under the web content and can't be moved, the solution is to hide the obscuring web content. But then how do you detect when the user has chosen to allow or deny access so that you can unhide the web content? According to the documentation a status event is
"Dispatched when a microphone reports its status. If the value of the code property is "Microphone.Muted", the user has refused to allow the SWF file access to the microphone. If the value of the code property is "Microphone.Unmuted", the user has allowed the SWF file access to the microphone."
But I've tried listening for the status event both on the microphone and camera and it is never dispatched when the security panel is dismissed. There's a concise example see the microphone documentation.

Ipad 3 on ios 6.0.1 wont activate imessage, icloud and facetime. And i wont get notifications FROM ANY APP WHATSOEVER!!

I recently updated my ipad 3 to ios 6.0.1 and there are a **** lot of problems. My imessage and facetime wont activate - it keeps saying couldnt sign in check ur net connection. And safari sometimes says it couldnt open the sight because it couldnt connect to the server. My net is going perfectly fine but ios isnt. And then i wont get push notifications for any app, no matter wat i do. Ive restored it twice, but nothings working watsoever. If anyone has any idea how i can sign in to imsg, facetime and icloud or get my notifications to come plzzz do tell me i cant find a solution anywhere!!!!!!!!
And apple u really need to fix these problems in the next update!!!!

i think i know whats wrong. one thing you could do is: try holding the home butoon and the power button together and shut down the ipad. you have to press both of them together!!! then to switch it back on, do the same thing again. it should start up. if it still doesnt work, you could try going to setttings, then "notifications" and turn on notifications for the apps you want. About safari, if it doesnt work from step 1, you could go to wifi or cellular and just reconnect your ipad to the internet.

Go to Settings>Mail>Fetch new data and make sure that Push is On and the Fetch is set to a time other than Manually. Not all Mail account support Push so yo have to have the iPod to periodically check the mail server for new messages.

Getting username from an applet

I'm writing a program (an applet) that needs to get the username from a windows 2000 platform. Is that possible? I guess I need to set a security policy-file... Can someone leed me on the right way?

It would be possible in an application to just do this:
String userName = System.getProperty("user.name");But for security reasons it can't be done like this in an applet.

Ever since the new update on my GSlll i have been getting notifications from dating websites.

I decided to click on one last night and it took me to the Play Store to install it. WHY do i keep getting these? I don't even look at dating sites because i've been married for 19 years and i'm not interested in what is on a dating site! Anyone else having random sites appearing at the top of your phone where the notifications bar is? Really getting tired of having to clear my bar 4 or 5 times a day to get rid of the little star or green cross! Help!

Are these occurring in the Notifications bar? You have installed an app that is pushing ads to you. It could have been anything; a game, ringtone app, wallpaper app, etc. Install something like "Airpush Detector" from Google Play and see if it can find the offending app.

Get ClassNotFoundException from a applet

hi all,
i'm trying to use the java.awt.geom.Arc2D class in a applet. it works fine on a appletviewer, but it throws the ClassNotFoundException:java.awt.geom.Arc2D on a applet in IE5.
i'm sure it got the lastest Java plug-in 1.3.1 on my computer.
here is the code of my simple applet:

I don't think that'll invoke the Java plug-in correctly.

Can I get notifications from my mail

I want to get the emails I receive to come through as notification. I don't want to check the app when I want to see if I've gotten any emails.

Use the Settings app.
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > turn on push if you want Mail to come as soon as it's available or scroll down to set Fetch at a time interval you want. Push uses battery faster.
Then turn on Notifications for Mail.
Settings > Notification Center > Mail > select your Mail account >
Turn on Badge App icon to just have a red number indicating unread emails.
Turn on Banners or Alerts to see previews of the emails
Check other settings there as wel

Problem getting notifications from The Square on the iPad

Does anyone know if Apple has fixed the issue where The Square is unable to send e-mail notifications to an address using the @me.com domain?

It is downloaded, and yes it takes up space and can eventually fill up your iPad. It's supposed to delete older tracks as the music app plays new ones and space gets low, but other apps won't delete songs and free up the space. So if you were going to say use the camera app and it was full of music you would have to delete songs manually.

Are you sure the entire song is on iTunes in your computer?
Have you synced your iPhone by plugging it in to iTunes and letting the sync complete?

Is it possible for me to change the email I get notifications from but not my Apple ID?

My Apple ID and primary email address are the same one. I tried changing it but that meant changing my Apple ID, and I don't want to do that. Basically I want to keep my Apple ID the same, but I want the email that's currently my Alternate Email to be my primary email. But not my Apple ID. Does that make sense? Can I do that???

You may have to get a third email address to swap around your email addresses. Try goggle.
