Getting old itunes purchases onto my new computer

My old computer was stolen along with my iPod. Is there any way to get back purchases I made on iTunes onto my new computer if I'm signed in under the same account?
Thanks!

How can I get my old iTunes music onto my new computer without access to my old computer? I left my previous job and forgot to transfer my music. I bought iTunes match and it shows my old Mac as a device, but I cannot access any of the old music. All I can find are what was on my iPhone, but that's not what I want. I need all my old music from my old Mac, which has been wiped clean by IT at my old job. BUT, I did have iCloud at that time and I thought all my music would be accessible through it. I don't understand the Cloud! And I'm thinking spending $24.99 on iTunes Match was a waste of money because I still can't access my old music.

When you are done with this issue, consider the computer back at the office may still
have access to your iTunes account, and it should be de-auhorized. You can do that
remotely, but be sure you carefully do not mess up your other computer iTunes libraries.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How do I get my iTunes library onto my new computer when my old computer died?

How can I upload my iTunes library onto my new computer from my iPod or iPad? our old computer died and now I cannot move my iTundes library from my iPod or iPhone onto the new iTunes. Anyone have a workaround for this?

It depends on what you mean by "died".
If the old computer is a Mac, you can try starting it up in "Target Disk Mode" - it doesn't attempt to start up like a computer, it pretends to be an external hard drive so it might work even if your old computer still has power (even if it's otherwise unusable). You then use a firewire cable (or or firewire to thunderbolt adapter) to plug the old computer into the new one, and can copy the music off the old hard drive.
OS X Mountain Lion: Transfer files between two computers using target disk mode
Or, if you're handy with a screwdriver, open up the old computer and take the old hard drive out. How easy that is depends on what model computer it is. You can then pop the hard drive into an "external enclosure" (about $20 from any computer parts store), plug that into your new computer's USB port and copy away - and you even get to keep using the old hard drive as an external hard drive. But that's assuming it really is the computer that "died" and not the hard drive itself.
Finally, if it's the hard drive in the old computer that died, but the computer itself is still good, you can try using a utility like DiskWarrior or TechTools Pro to try to recover the old hard drive, then use one of the above methods.
if you want to copy the music directly from you ipod, you can try these instructions - How to transfer music from an iPod to your computer | How To - CNET

Please help! I miss all my music!

Your music will only be where you put it.
Copy it from your backup copy of your old comuter to your new one.
If for some reson you have failed to maintain a backup copy, not good, then you can redownload some content in some countries:

  • I have copied my iTunes library onto a new computer, but when I play back the songs there seems to be random "miss" or "drop out".  No probs with old computer, just the new one.  I'm onto my third new computer - same problem.  Any suggestions please?

I have copied my iTunes library onto a new computer, but when I play back the songs using the new computer, there seems to be random "miss" or "drop out" during play back, similar to a small scratch on a vinyl record.  Although when I play the same song over again, the "miss" occurs in a different location during the song.  No probs with old computer, just the new one.  I'm onto my third new computer - same problem.  Any suggestions please?

You don't say which version of iTunes you are using, but the symptoms you describe have been encountered by some users with the 64-bit version of iTunes 12.1.
There is an alternative version for 64-bit editions of Windows here:
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
that seems to address the most of the playback issues that some users have been reporting with the full 64-bit version of 12.1.0.77 - including problems with Bluetooth speakers where either sound is degraded or completely absent.  The alternative installer here is the same architecture as most previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes, i.e., a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer.  The "for older video cards" label appears to be something of a misnomer as some people have reported that this corrects problems found on current / high-spec systems.
Some users have reported that after installing this alternative version it is necessary to adjust the "Play audio using" selection (normally to "Direct Sound" rather than "Windows Audio Session", though this may vary based on your audio hardware/drivers) in Edit > Preferences > Playback to restore glitch-free audio (one part of the reported symptoms is that the "Direct Sound" choice isn't available, usually in Windows 8).  It may also be necessary to ensure that your Bluetooth speakers are active and selected as the default audio device before you run iTunes.
If this doesn't address the issue, you may want to think about reverting to iTunes 12.0 - see Turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for steps needed to completely remove all installed iTunes components, and for links to the 12.0 installers.

  • HT201543 how do i get my old itune library onto my new laptop, my old laptop is broken but all media is on my phone. Most of the songs are from CD's which i no longer have. HELP!

How do I get my old iTunes library onto my new laptop? My old laptop is broken but all media is on my phone. Most of the songs are from CD's which I no longer have. HELP!

That is not necessarily true. You are allowed to make a back-up of media you own and, at least in the Netherlands, even a copy of a work you've borrowed from a library. The law expressly permits this and you pay a certain amount for recordable media to allow for home use.  See http://www.thuiskopie.nl/nl for this.  If you then decide to destroy the media, i.e. do not transfer the media to someone else, I don't see how you infringe copyright by keeping the back-up. But I guess some so-called creatives like the idea of making money in all kinds of hypothetical ways...
It is a nice dream, where you have to work once and then earn a lot of money by selling millions of copies from your work. But buyers can make copies too!! Hahahahahaha!

How do i get my iTunes library into my new computer?
    I have a windows 7 computer.

Put the hard drive from your old computer in an external drive bay and extract the library from it, or see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

This method would lose ratings, play counts, playlists, date added, etc. and any device synced with the current library would see this as a "new" library and consequently iTunes would want to erase and reload all content.

  • How do you get previous Itunes pruchases onto a new Ipod without syncing it to the laptop?

I've been in Australia for over a year, my previous Ipod broke so a purchased a new Ipod touch this year. However, as my Itunes library is on my laptop back in the UK, I'm a little depleted of music on this Ipod. Is it possible to get previous Itune purchases onto my Ipod here in Australia without me flying home, or worse still having the laptop sent over? I've kept all my Itunes receipts.

    Try here:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
you might not be able to get some items back since yuo are in a differenrt country now.

I purchased a new computer, i want to install the CS5 i previously purchased onto my new computer. How do I do this? Do I have to repurchase the product?

You don't have to repurchase CS5. If you still have the old computer, you should open one of the CS5 applications and choose Help > Deauthorize to remove using that computer from your license.
If you no longer have access to the old computer, you can do this with web chat here:

If it's a new computer, you can install from the original discs or installer. If you don't have a copy, you can download it here:

  • I have created separate user accounts for my 2 boys on my macbook. How do i get my itunes library onto their new ipods?

I have created separate user accounts for my 2 boys on my macbook. How do i get my itunes library onto their new ipods?

They can't.  Which came first - the chicken or the egg?  Actually, that's a bad comparison but a sync must come first.
The library is actually part of iTunes and it contains everything.  iTunes is then configured so that you (or they) determine which portion of everything will be synced to each iPod (identified by a unique name, see below for an example of an iPod and an iPad).  iTunes can't make that decision until AFTER it knows which iPods exist.
By the way, I (you, they) can very easily change the name of each device to whatever I (you, they) wish to call it.

  • TS3212 I'm trying to download my existing iTunes account onto my new computer. Whenever I push download nothing works. It thanks me for downloading and then nothing happens. There is no pop-up control in the tool bar. Help???

I'm trying to download my existing iTunes account onto my new computer. For one, every time I try and download it it takes a second and then says "thank you for downloading iTunes!" and after that there's nothing, no results, no download. I read the instructions, and I looked on my toolbar. There appears to be no pop-up control and I can't find anything relating to it. I have Windows 8, in case that makes a difference. This shouldn't be a problem, but it is, so....HELP???!

See this migrate iTunes library post.
