Getting old LiveType data into new LiveType

I had the LiveType that came with Final Cut Express 1. Now I have the newest version and none of the old livefonts etc show in the media manager. I've looked about online and to my surprise can not find any information on this. The manual mentioned something about an install/uninstall button on the lower left window of the media manager but the only two buttons in the lower left are grayed out and unclickable. The data was installed before the upgrade and was reinstalled afterwards- no luck. All the files from the original install are AFD format.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated! I need the Sunflower livefont to work for a project I'm carrying over from the old version! EEK!

An hour on the phone with tech support and we figured it out. Appears when upgrading (at least on my system) the old LiveType data folders were OVERWRITTEN. The livetype data folder in LiveType Application Support was there, but the font, object, etc folders were replaced. Reinstalling the old data DVDs does nothing. You have to move the original folders (for example the Pro Series folder) and rename it (to something like "Old Pro Series") then put it back in the appropriate place after the upgrade is done. Now I have all my old livefonts working just fine
Hopefully a fix will come out for this as I know I'm not the only person who has had this problem.

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.
If your new E2 is brand new and never been synchronized before, just connect to the Hotsync cable, make sure you have the correct Hotsync ID selected in Palm Desktop, and synchronize.
If the new E2 is used, do a Hard Reset on it first, then Hostync as above.  This article discusses the various types of Reset for different Palm devices:

  • Difficulties getting old backup data to new phone

So, I thought it would be a simple thing to do - But no.I had a Xperia ZR (with Lolipop) and bought myself a Z3 compact. Before I resetted my ZR and made a backup using the backup program that the phone has in it, not PC companion. The result was a nice 800mb file on the SD-card, with all the apps, messeges, contacts and so on on it. So far so good. The major problem starts when I was about to resett all my old data to my new phone, using the exact same program on the Z3 compact. It can´t find the file at all, there is no option in restoring my old data in that app "backup & restore". All files are there in a map called ´.semc-fullbackup´ but the app can´t obviously do anything with it.  A little help would be much appriciated!  P.S my Sony ZR is sold, so no luck there..  Cheers

There should be another option except for the one which requires the old phone found at Xperia transfer > Sony/Sony Ericsson device > Xperia backup from computer.
I believe you're swedish so it should look like this:

  • How to get old itunes library into new computer

imported my itunes folder into my new computer's users music folder via firewire. i had already pulled over itunes music folder. why don't any songs show up in itunes? if i go through the finder i can drill down to the individual track to play. and i can go to itunes > file > library > import and add each song, one at a time. not happening.
i can't find a thread with a clear instruction on this on the forum either.
    what am i missing?

okay, i found my problem. i had not changed the name of Itunes folder on the new comp so the transferred folder was called Itunes Music.
That was not the problem. Don't rename the iTunes music folder.
The iTunes music folder is inside the iTunes folder.
The /Music/iTunes/ folder is the entire library.
You need to copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from the old computer.

  • Restore 3 times to get old apps & data onto new 3GS

Just discovered I had to perform 3 restores from my existing 3G backup to get (nearly) everything across to a new 3GS. First restore transferred core phone settings, 2nd copied across the apps with no app data, the third restored the 3G app data. Whew!!
Still didn't restore any iPod content, but I can copy that over easily.
(Oh, to do a forced restore, right-click on the device in iTunes & select Restore from Backup)
    Cheers,
    John.

Wow! I wonder why you had to do all that. My entire process too about an hour and a half, but I got everything on my 3gs on the first restore.
I wonder if others have had the same difficulty as you getting everything on the first time.

  • Download old iPod touch date into new iPod touch through iTunes

How do you download old iPod data into new a new iPod?

Simply connect the new iPod to the same computer that was used to sync the old iPod.  iTunes will know the difference and will assign a unique name (which you can change if you wish).

Old users.dbf have 3gbytes(dates from old oracle instal)In Oracle, a database is more than just a single file.
That single file is like a single piece of the puzzle. It alone cannot be the picture. Nor can you derive what the picture looks like from a single puzzle piece.

  • Legacy data into new UCM Solution

we are implementing new UCM solution to one of my client,
Client is having lots of legacy data(>2TB), and they want to move the complete data into new UCM Solution?
My question is, what is the way to convert the whole data in to UCM Content server?

I assume that you are aware of the productised UCM Siebel integration...are you wanting to load legacy data and make it available through this? Even if you are the approach is much the same.
OK so if on a file system then what you need to do is work out how you can derive metadata either from the directory structure OR the Siebel DB or the content itself - those are in order of difficulty and time taken I would say.
The simplest thing to do is to use this information to create batchloader scripts. Why not try and create some test scripts where you load in 100 items or similar and see if the results/performance are aceptable.
It will take a long time to load 2TB of data - how many separate files is this? So you may need to devise a schedule for doing this in a number of smaller migration runs.

  • Get old Aperture library into iPhoto without need to upgrade Aperture first?

I've my photo libraries in an old Aperture format. I didn't upgrade to Aperture 3, because I didn't get a new Mac until recently. Now with Yosemite my old Aperture app can't be installed anymore (neither old iPhoto). So I've not an old Aperture library file which I'd like to import into the new iPhoto, but I get the dialog that I've to upgrade to Aperture 3 first.
Do I really have to purchase a $80 upgrade to get my pictures out of an old version of Aperture? I'd upgrade to Aperture 3 and continue using it if it wasn't already announced to be discontinued soon. But what to do until the new Photo.app is available some time in 2015, plus who knows whether the announced "will be able to import Aperture libraries" isn't also limited to Aperture 3+ versions?
You see my pickle?! I can't run old Aperture on Yosemite, I can't import my old Aperture library into the new iPhoto and Photo.app isn't available yet. What to do?
The option to run an old OS X via VMWare, import Aperture to old iPhoto and then upgrade to new iPhoto also seems a bit much work.
What I am looking for would essentially be a "Import Aperture 2 library into (new) iPhoto" script/tool/converter.
    Thanks,
    -H

    Crrect - as I said
you can get the original photos out by copying the masters folder and importing to iPhoto
And yes there is no good solution for switching from a outdated software package to a different up to date one - Aperture or pretty much any other software - iPhoto will update all old iPhoto libraries and Aperture will update all old Aperture libraries but iPhoto will not update old Apertue libraries nor will Aperture update old iPhoto libraries

  • Bringing all old files, etc. into new MacBook Pro?

I haven't gotten my new MacBook Pro, but I don't want to have to waste too much time getting things going when I do. I have my current PB G4 backed up to an external hard drive with Time Machine. How do I update the new MacBook Pro with all the files from the backup? Can I use Time Machine to do this? Does Time Machine know that there are old files from a previous machine that need to be brought into the new one?

If you have a TM backup then, yes, you can migrate files from the TM backup. This would be done using Migration Assistant. Since you will be migrating from a PPC machine please review the following:
A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate. Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
    Screensavers written for the PowerPC
    System Preference add-ons
    All Unsanity Haxies
    Browser and other plug-ins
    Contextual Menu Items
Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5
    Kernel extensions
Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries
See also What Can Be Translated by Rosetta.
In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers unless they are universal binaries. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the current choices are USB Overdrive or SteerMouse. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior 4.1, TechTool Pro 4.6.1, SuperDuper 2.5, and Drive Genius 2.0.2 work properly on Intel-Macs with Leopard. The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries. Leopard Cache Cleaner, Onyx, TinkerTool System, and Cocktail are now compatible with Leopard.
Before migrating or installing software on your Intel-Mac check MacFixit's Rosetta Compatibility Index.

Transferring data with Setup Assistant - Migration Assistant FAQ
Because Migration Assistant isn't the ideal way to migrate from PowerPC to Intel Macs, using Target Disk Mode, copying the critical contents to CD and DVD, an external hard drive, or networking
will work better when moving from PowerPC to Intel Macs. The initial section below discusses Target Disk Mode. It is then followed by a section which discusses networking with Macs that lack Firewire.
If both computers support the use of Firewire then you can use the following instructions:
    1. Repair the hard drive and permissions using Disk Utility.
    2. Backup your data. This is vitally important in case you make a mistake or there's some other problem.
    3. Connect a Firewire cable between your old Mac and your new Intel Mac.
    4. Startup your old Mac in Target Disk Mode.
    5. Startup your new Mac for the first time, go through the setup and registration screens, but do NOT migrate data over. Get to your desktop on the new Mac without migrating any new data over.
If you are not able to use a Firewire connection (for example you have a Late 2008 MacBook that only supports USB:)
    1. Set up a local home network: Creating a small Ethernet Network.
    2. If you have a MacBook Air or Late 2008 MacBook see the following:

Copy the following items from your old Mac to the new Mac:
In your /Home/ folder: Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures, and Sites folders.
    In your /Home/Library/ folder:
/Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Application Support/iCal (copy the whole folder)
Also in /Home/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need including folders for any third-party applications)
    /Home/Library/Keychains (copy the whole folder)
    /Home/Library/Mail (copy the whole folder)
    /Home/Library/Preferences/ (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/Calendars (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/iTunes (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/Safari (copy the whole folder)
    If you want cookies:
    /Home/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist
    /Home/Library/Application Support/WebFoundation/HTTPCookies.plist
    For Entourage users:
Entourage is in /Home/Documents/Microsoft User Data
    Also in /Home/Library/Preferences/Microsoft
Credit goes to Macjack for this information.
If you need to transfer data for other applications please ask the vendor or ask in the Discussions where specific applications store their data.
    5. Once you have transferred what you need restart the new Mac and test to make sure the contents are there for each of the applications.

  • Migrate data into new DB?

    Hi there,
Is there a way to start with a completely new/clean ZEN 6.5 Inventory database,
and then import/migrate data into it using copies of an older ZEN 6.5 Inventory
    database?
    Thanks,
    Eric

I thought maybe starting with a clean db and then importing/migrating the data
would help with some strange Sybase ASA db server errors. I cannot find these
    errors documented anywhere on Novell.
Duplicate index "i$CustomValue#" for table "t$CustomValue"
Duplicate index "i$logdevice$deviceid" for table "t$LogicalDevice"
No unique index or primary key for table "diskusage"
I've already tried running sybindex to no avail.

    Naveen,
Are yo having issue when you save something in the layout, the data doesn't appear in the listcube ? Or do you have issue that the latest data you see in the cube doesn't appear in the layout ?
For the former issue, please look at your selections of listcube and for the second issue, please check your planning level definition, make sure all the restrictions you have applied are valid for this latest data to be presented in the layout.
    Hope this helps.

  • Using USB to transfer old iphone data to new iphone

    Upgrading from iPhone 4S (OS7.0) to iPhone5C.
    1.  Is using direct USB connect to Win7 desktop better/faster than WiFi to cloud?  If USB, is anything different than going to cloud?
    2.  Do I do this before/after activating the iPhone5C purchased from VZ?

I would not pretend expertise on this, but I would think that iCloud or iTunes would be a better way to transfer data from an old iPhone to a new one. What I have done in the past is backup everything on the old phone with iTunes, then restore that backup on the new phone.
